The problem with creating big curls is that not enough heat gets to them to really tighten them and hold them in that shape. The best way to get big curls would to by big rolls--you know, those things that people use to use before the heating irons came out? Get big ones where you can heat them up when there is a heat source contacting them, aka hair dryer.
85% dry your hair, put on some anti-frizz serum from Fructise, dry it all the way through, put on some hair spray for each section of your hair that you'll be rolling, roll your hair, blow dry it, and before taking the rollers out, spray it quickly all the way around once more. You'll have yo mess with how you place the rollers and how much hair spray you use and all that jazz before you get the hang of it and are able to make beautiful curls.
The thicker a curling iron gets, the more power it's going to lose. But then all hair is different so you can try out the 1.5" curler. But my sister with thin hair didn't have great results and me with thick and strong hair didn't have results either so I don't know. ]
