im in 8th grade, and please dont tell me that it is too young to be having sex--I KNOW!! i am a christian, and it's just that i live in a really small town, and so everybody just seems to know when you've lost your virginity, and i dont know, its just that there is quite a bit of pressure put on having sex. but my question is, is that ive heard that you have a less chance of getting pregnant while on your period. i would just die if i decided to have sex and ended up getting pregnant!! but the problem is, is that i dont know if guys will have sex if a girl is on her period. is that gross to them?? Please don't fall for that. You can get pregnant ANY

Here are the symptoms.

I'm really not happy anymore. Especially today. Well, first of all, I just got my progress report (which it's just telling you how your doing in school so far, but i'm still worried) and I didn't do too good at ALL! I got NO A's, 2 B's, 1 F! and the rest are all C's. Thats pathetic. And it is my first year as high school, but I don't think thats mainly why I did so bad. I do good in all the homework, I take noted like crazy, but when it comes to studying, I'm not too good with it, and even if I do study, I freak out when it comes to the test and everything I studied just suddenly goes away. I can't remember a thing! I literally sit in my desk sweating! I'm so scared to show my mom my progress report, she isn't gonig to be happy at all.
To make everything even worse, my friend was so mean to me today! Well just at the end of the day. Ok, well my uncle was going to pick me up from school, and I said she could come along. So I called my uncle to see if it was alright, but no one answered, so she just went on the bus. I called again and he answered. He said it was ok, so I ran to the bus to get her, but the busses were all about to leave. My bus driver got mad at me because I went to the bus when they were all leaving, and I guess she yelled at my friend, because I told the bus driver I just wanted to ask my friend a question. I told my friend I was sorry, and she didn't seem that mad, but I could tell she was in a bad mood some times when we talked on the phone today. She said I was like rain, annoying and that I need to leave sometimes. I asked her if she was serious and she laughed and said no. It still kind of hurt me. Then I invited her to come over this weekend because she couldn't last weekend because I was sick. She said she had to go shopping (she hates shopping) and she would be in a bad mood after it. It sounded like she didn't even want to come over, and I know she does. I'll give her till tomorrow, but if thats her excuse, I'm not going to invite her anymore. Please, I need some help to calm me down, and some school help. Also I would really like to know why my friend was being so mean. I'm guessing the whole bus thing, but I'm entirly sure. be relieved that you want to improve and are taking steps to do so.

I'm sure your friend will get over whatever is making her mad. Some people are just moody. She is probably not happy about having to go shopping if she hates it so much. Maybe you should ask her again tomorrow. Tell her it will be fun and see if she doesn't change her attitude. :)

ok, i don't know it this is the right subject, but ihave a problem. ok my vagina burns like really bad. i have no idea why. then i get this sensation where i have to go to the bathroom really bad but only alittle pee comes out and then it burns. i haven't had sex so i don't have a STD, but what do you think could be the matter?

Sounds like a urinary tract infection. There are over the counter remedies but they are expensive and seldom work.
You need to see your doctor. Lots of girls and women get them, nothing to be ashamed of. Tell your mom and go see a doctor. Really, don't just put up with
it because it is painful and can lead to kidney problems if left untreated.
Here are the symptoms of urinary tract infection. You can have all or just a couple.
* A strong, persistent urge to urinate
* A burning sensation when urinating
* Passing frequent, small amounts of urine
* Blood in the urine (hematuria) or cloudy, strong-smelling urine

I'm 13/f and I'm in 8th grade. I've been in band since 6th grade and I enjoy it (but sometimes i really don't like it). I want to be in band in high school yet I don't because it can be really stressful sometimes with all the competitions and stuff. I also don't want to do marching band but they make you and being in high school band is very time consuming...but I still like playing. Also, my best friends who were in band this year are quitting, so I won't know anyone. My question is...should I continue playing since I enjoy it or quit? (link)

I don't know if you can do this at your high school,
but I got around it by taking band 2nd semester and something else first. I didn't mind concert band which was 2nd semester. Just hated marching band! :)

Hehe hi everybody, i may be the only guy in this column.
I am wondering... my girlfriend likes it when im neat and tidy... downstairs, but its a major hassle and really quite dangerous if you ask me. Would this Nair shit, the mousse or whatever be able to help me out or would it burn uncontrollably? i mean for everywhere, not just above the waistline.

Anyone can use Nair. DO NOT use regular Nair. It will burn you. They do make one for bikini lines. It
may be safe to use. Honestly, I recommend you tell the girlfriend to get used to the natural look. :)

I have a sore breast, it started about six months ago and i have already been to the doctors about it.
They reffered me to a clinic who said there wasn't a lump and refused to give me a mammogram, the doctors said it was just due to my age.
She also said it should go away by itself in a couple of months, that was 3 months ago.
Should i be worried, should i go back to the doctors or am i just being paranoid? There is a history of cancer in my family but not breast cancer.

You go back to your regular doctor and tell him/her
you want a mammogram. Have him set it up with someone who will give you one.
That stupid "you're to young" nonsense is just that. If it would ease your mind then you keep after them and don't take no for an answer. In all likelihood
they are right and it is nothing. But peace of mind is worth a lot and eases stress.
You keep after that doctor until you get what you want! :)

Right im 22, i have this boyfriend (X) and he is really nice and i do like him but he is three years younger than me, and an old friend of mine (Y), who is older than me, told me a couple of weeks ago that he really likes me and he has just been afraid to ask me out.
So Y asked me to go out on a date with him, i said yes but im still with X.
Now the huge problem is that X told me hes in love with me today and i cannot dump him because im going to hurt him so badly!
So i was going to go on the date with Y and see how it goes (Y knows about X btw) and if i really like Y, tell X im sorry but its not working.
What im asking really is, is this a good idea or should i just finish with X now and save any hurt?

How long have you been dating X? Sounds as if the age difference is the biggest problem for you it really shouldn't be unless it is causing some sort of problem for you.
If you just don't think it is going to work, I'd break it off with X before going out with Y. Unless you live in a real big city, he will find out about it and will be hurt even more. He will be hurt either way, there is no way around that. It just won't seem to him like he was stabbed in the back if you do it beforehand.
I guess my vote goes for telling X and breaking it off. :)

Okay, so if a guy asks you to slow dance with them, that doesn't make them your boyfriend or anyhthing...does it? And it's perfectly normal to dance with more than one guys..right? Also if you're going to the homecoming with a guy, are they considered your boyfriend...or if they aren't can you dance with other guys at the homecoming too...? (link)

It is normal to dance with as many guys as you like.
Going to homecoming with a guy does not make them your boyfriend. You can dance with whoever you like.
Just don't ditch your date..he did ask you. :)
Basically, unless the guy says will you be my girlfriend, or something similar you are just on a date.
You can also dance with other guys even if you are dating someone.

i slept on my shoulder wrong the other night and had mom massage it in the morning. but it made it worse. now, it feels like a huge bruise spread across my upper back. it hurts quite a bit. but im wondering if i should go to a massage therapist or just take asprin until it goes away. (link)

You could go to a massage therapist but it probably wouldn't help. If you slept on it wrong it will probably be better tomorrow anyway.
Take a very hot shower and let the water beat on your sore shoulder. Then take some ibuprofen which works best for inflammation. If you don't have any aspirin will do fine. :)

Get in a hot shower. Hot as you can stand. If you have a shower massage better yet. Let it beat on your head and neck for a while. Might be stress or
something.
If the pain is still really bad after that then you might want to seek medical attention. :)

It would look like a cold sore. A cold sore IS a form of herpes. It is not considered a STD unless it is on the genitals.

okay i got my period when i was 11 years old. i'm 16 right now and i was suppose to get my period around friday and i haven't yet. i have extreme OCD so i'm really worried. this is really uncommon for me, because i haven't skipped a period ever!! i never had sex though. i've been stressing out/worried over it since saturday. i'm not quite sure what to do. i felt somewhat crampy for the past few days. why is it doing this and is there anything i can do??

Background: girl A from another school that i participated in a competition with that lasted 4 days and took many hundreds of hours of preperation, where i worked along side her. During this time i was totally hooked on girl B from my school who i had a crush on for like 3 years and almost hooked up with but we became best friends by her choice. Anyways i got the number of the girl A but never called her back because i was hooked on phonics for girl B, who eventually went weird and decided to never speak to me again. So basically im over girl B completely now and totally regret not calling girl A, whom everyone said was totally gaga for me. Its been almost 5 months. She didnt have my number or anyway to contact me. About 2 months after the competition while still kinda getting over girl B i spent at least 20 min wthin 20 feet of girl A who was with a large groop of friends i had never sceen before and i had very different hair ( went from marine cut to shaggy) so i dont know if she saw me and ignored me or just didnt see me. i chose not to aproach her. Anyways the preperations for next years competition start in a couple months i im wondering what to do. (link)
