First of all thank you very much for answering my question. But second of all I NEVER said that i kept him on a chain we have an enclosed backyard and he has a REALLY big space to run around in. Also my mom doesnt likes dogs so he is not aloud to come inside i wish she wasn't this way, but its her house so I have to abide by her rules. And by disciplining him I ment defending myself, I couldn't get away from him biting me if i didnt try and push him in the other direction. Its not like i would just hit him for no reason im not cruel. And what I said before I hadnt done anything to him I just stood there he just decided to jump up and bite me. I just didnt know what to do so I asked you. I just wanted to clear things up for ya there.
But i really appreciate you answering my question!
thnx soo much!
That is the reason why I apoligized for being rude a couple of times in my answer. Everything else remains the same.
To be perfectly honest, you probably shouldn't own a dog if it's not allowed inside. If you are still living with your parents, and your mother hates the dog, then the dog is going to pick up on that and live with a lot of hate in it's life. Dogs can sense a lot more than we can, they can sense when someone is feeling something like stress or hatred, and every time that person comes around, they are going to react to it. Your dog may one day bite your mother and hurt her very badly.
I don't agree with keeping a dog outside 24 hours a day because dogs need human contact. They are not meant to be living alone. Even wild dogs do not live alone, they live in packs. I really don't know if this problem can be fixed without letting him in the house so that he can be a real family dog.
Try to other methods that I gave you.. (ignore the bad habits, praise the good habits).. and perhaps he will get better.
You can do that basically by walking in the other direction and going inside. When you come back out, if he is behaving, then praise him and give him treats.
I would also suggest teaching him tricks. Teach him how to sit, lay, roll over, give paw.. all that good stuff.
It may just be that he is bored, and need to keep his mind busy. Take him for walks too. Teaching him how to walk on a leash will help immensly. It will also be very fun for him.
I do hope everything works out ok, but again... I do not agree with owning a dog to only put it in the backyard to live alone.
http://www.dogsdeservebetter.org/
Show your mother this website. Tell her that dogs who live alone outside are the first dogs to turn aggressive and bite. Tell her I watched my puppy be mauled by an aggressive dog who suddenly got off his chain and out of the fence that he was in when I was 7.

pshh... What? No, "Will you bear my children?"
I'm hurt and offended.
oh, fuck it. Yes, yes I will marry you.

hi i am had the injection as form of contraception is there any possiblility that i can fall pregnant on the injection is it 100% safe or 99%? im not sure and i really dont wanna sound dumb or anything?
No form of birth control is 100% effective unless you count abstinance, but don't worry I'm not going to push abstinance on you. In your case, it may be good, because you seem to be too young, but I wont' push it on you, I'll just try to help you find out the information that you need to get. I believe that if your too young to make sure you doctor tells you all of these things, then your too young to have sex. anyway...
You need to talk to your doctor about ANY medication you are put on. I recently stopped taking the shot. I was taking Depo-Provera for a while. I researched it more and more as time went by and found things that I didn't like about it. Finally, I got a new doctor, and told him about my worries with it, and he told me that he does not like the shot and won't give it to most patients.
See, it leads to bone degeneration in patients. Have you ever noticed how the spot where they give the shot is always sore and bruised for a while afterwards? Even up to a couple of days afterwards? This is the first sign that it's not a good thing.
Anyway, If you are too embarrassed to ask your doctor these things, then you may be too young to be using these sort of medications. I would suggest writing down any question you have about your form of contraception, and then calling your doctor up and forcing him/her to answer each question on your list.

I have a problem my dog, just recently died and so we got a new puppy Razberry. But as he has gotten older he has become vicious. I just go into the backyard to try to play with him after school and i throw a ball or two. Then I go check if he needs more water in his bowl or not. But then out of the blew he jumps up bites me really hard in the back then I turn around and he bites me in the leg which leaves a scratch and a popping out bruise. Then i try to get away from him and out of the backyard but he keeps biting me. This has been happening for a while now and I dont know what to do to make him stop. I love my puppy and I dont want to give him away. He can be soo sweet to me and i can just tell in his eyes that he loves me too. I think he is just trying to play but doesn't know when to stop. I just would like any suggestions on something I could do to understand that biting me like that is wrong and it hurts. I have tried disciplining him but then he becomes more vicious and bites more. Please help me!
thnx a bunch!
P.S. someone referred to you becuz you were good at dog questions.
One question:
What exactly do you mean by "I have tried disciplining him but then he become more vicious and bites more."?
Is that a nice way of saying you beat his ass when he bites you? Because, seriously, if he bit you after you beat him I wouldn't blame him.
Now that I have said that, I'm glad a couple people have referred you to me. I'm also sorry if anything that I'm about to say offends you, but I do hope you listen to my words of advice.
My first word of advice is TAKE THE POOR DOG OFF THE CHAIN, AND BRING HIM INSIDE!!!
Dog's do not deserve to live a life on a chain, it's cruel punishment, and often leads to aggression like this. It's only natural that a dog left outside, away from it's family or "pack" will go crazy from lack of attention. Dog's NEED socialization, especially in their first few months.
Think about it... your dog is fine until you start to go away. This seems like a prime example of a dog that is starved for human contact.
Second of all: NEVER HIT YOUR DOG TRYING TO "DISCIPLINE" HIM.
Most of the time a dog will bite because he is scared. He will have the additude of "I must bite before this person hurts me again". Hitting a poor defensless, chained up animal is only asking to be bit.
Now, your dog needs to be trained and socialized. How old is he? Has he ever been off the chain? Does he ever come inside?
I'm guessing he will need to be housetrained.
For this, you will need to watch him 24 hours a day. Start by keeping him by your side, on his leash, inside the house. By keeping him on his leash, it will ensure that you can watch him, and catch him if he starts to lift his leg or squat.
If he does start to lift his leg, or even if he is actually able to go to the bathroom inside DO NOT HIT HIM.
Simply point, so NO! sharply and then take him outside. MAYBE tap him on the nose. This shouldn't be enough to hurt, only enough to annoy and show that going to the bathroom inside is not good.
When he goes to the bathroom outside, then give him a treat and plenty of praise and "good boy"'s.
If you can't watch him constantly, such as when you sleep or go to school, then you should get a dog crate, and put him in that. The crate should be large enough for him to move around comfortably, yet small enough so there isn't a huge amount of room. The area needs to be small to entice him to not "mess" in it.
Dogs are naturally very clean animals, and as long as it is possible, they will not go to the bathroom near their sleeping area. Keeping your dog in his crate will help him to see that he shouldn't go to the bathroom inside. As soon as you come home, take him from his crate and bring him outside to go to the bathroom.
CAUTION: do not leave him in his crate all day. This is not a replacement for the cruel chain, it is only a way for you to get things done. Ideally, he will not spend more than 2-3 hours at a time in his crate. This will obviously be quite different when you are sleeping, but he will also be sleeping and should not feel a need to go to the bathroom at that time. Dog's left in their crate for too long will often get urinary tract infections from "holding it in", or they will get bad and messy habits from being forced to go to the bathroom next to where they sleep. This will also cause bedsores from being forced to lay in their own pee.
When you go to school, and won't be able to check on him for long periods of time, then you need to make sure that someone does. Your mother or father perhaps.
Now, you should still be treating him as a puppy, and bring him outside every 2 hours to go to the bathroom. When he hears enough sharp NO!'s when he goes inside, and get's enough treats when he goes outside, he will soon realize that it's more beneficial for him to go outside. Dog's do whatever is more beneficial for them, it is only a matter of them learning properly.
Now that you have your dog inside, socialize him every chance you get.
You should begin to take him for walks. This will serve a lot of purposes. It will get some of his energy out, he will get exercise, he will see new and exciting things, and, he will be bonded with you even more.
A few words about leash training:
Get a gentle leader. This looks like a muzzle, but is really nothing like one. It goes around a dogs muzzle, and serves to pull their head in the direction that you want them to go. It works an awful lot like horse's bridle. A dog will not be able to walk forward, when their head is facing sideways or backwards towards you.
Now, your dog will probably pull because he wants to get at all the exciting things that he will see outside of your back yard.
When he starts to pull, then simply stop. Do not pull him backwards, do not let him pull your forward. Once he starts to loosen his grip on the leash, then you can start to move forward. Dogs pull because they want to get somewhere. Going forward and letting them get to that place only teaches them to pull. When you stop it teaches them this: "when I pull I don't get to smell that blade of grass, but when I don't pull, we can still move forward. I guess it's more beneficial for me to not pull"
Continue to walk like this. Do not stop in your training, or your dog will revert back to his bad habits RIGHT AWAY. It only takes one time for you to be lazy with your training, for all of his teachings to be lost. Then you will have to start all over again.
Now, if your dog starts to bite you, ignore him. Calmly, lead him over to his crate and put him in. Once he has calmed down, then take him back out and try to play all over again. Dog's do what they do in order to get attention from you. Even if it's bad attention, they still see it as attention. If you do anything besides putting him in his cage and ignoring him, then he will see it as beneficial to him.
Now, it is really my firm belief, that if your dog is socialized and able to live inside with his family, then he will no longer feel a need to be aggressive when someone leaves his area. The only reason I have spent all of this time on this question is because I sincerely hope that this dog is not abandoned and sent to a pound.
But, if you are going to simply say "I don't have the time to do all of this, my dog will continue to live outside on a chain" Then please... please, give your dog to a humane society, or find a good home for him to get properly trained. Dog's who live their lives on chains will only become more and more aggressive. I firmly believe that poor socialization and training is what leads to the large amount of dog bites in this country.
Be firm in your training, and do not falter. The basic rules of "ignore the bad things, praise the good things" should be followed at all times.
Tell everyone else in your family this, and your dog will soon be a lovable family puppy like all dog deserves to be.
If you have been able to do everything in my answer, and still need help, then ask me another question, specific to what you need help with. I will try my best to help you for your dogs sake.
If he begins to get more aggressive, then you should seek professional help from a dog trainer who could work with you and him personally.

I have a cat that weighs 15 pounds and he's only 1 and a half years old. I'm worried about him, but my mom says it's no big deal and it's just his bone structure, but he was so tiny when he was a kitten! Do I have a valid reason to worry?
Knowing the kind of cat that you have would be helpful. If you had a Maine Coon Cat, then this would be a normal weight. But, with pretty much any other cat, this is quite overweight.
Your mother could be correct, and it could be the way he is built. But, this still seems overweight to me.
Here's a few ways you might be able to tell if he's fat, or just big boned.
Hold your cat's front paws upwards. With his back paws on the ground, with him in a human type standing position, look at him from his front. Does he have a thin waist? Or is it rounded like a pregnant kitty?
Have your cat stand on all four paws, and feel under his belly. Feel around his lower belly between his legs, sort of where your belly button would be if it was you. Do you feel any extra skin? You might feel a sort of lump. This is fat. It might feel like a clump of hair, but no... it's just fat.
Feel along his rib cage on his sides. You should be able to feel all of his ribs with very minimal pressure applied.
As you look at his overall body composition, you should be able to tell whether or not he has extra fat on him. This should give you a good idea of whether or not he is overweight.
You say he's only 1 and a half, but this is actually getting quite close to full grown.
If you can tell me what kind of cat this is, that would be helpful.
But my honest opinion is that your cat is quite overweight and should be put on a diet. I would also suggest buying him plenty of toys to play with so that he can get more exercise.
Try looking at this question:

It's about a dog, but you might get a general idea from what I said to this person.
Sorry if this is a bit rambled, I'm in the middle of a radiology essay and don't have time to re read my answer. Hope this all helps though.

my mom is overweight, and i am not, however i want to tone my muscles an be in all around better physical condition. I wanted us to join a pilates class together, but she is afraid that's too strong of program to begin with, as we currently are not doing any sort of athletic activities. We were going to do yoga instead, and then move to pilates perhaps later...but my boyfriend said that yoga stretches your muscles and elongates them, but doesn't give you much exercise in the way we were hoping. Is this true? What should we do? all suggestions are appreciated! thanks!
Yoga requires a lot of physical strength, and uses all of your muscles. Your boyfriend is very wrong about it. Yoga tones and strengthens your entire body.
I would look into it more. Perhaps talk to someone who actually has some experience with yoga. I have been doing yoga for years off and on. It really is a great exercise.

My bf of over six months is really sweet and kind and I love him so much and I know he feels the same for me. But he is just to nice and he doesn't notice that his friendliness is kinda flirty but it doesn't bother me because I am the same way. Though lately theres this one girl that likes him and she hits on him all the time and he doesn't notice it and it's really bothering me so what do I tell him becasue he dumped me before for not telling guys to get off me so what should I tell him. I will rate high!
To be completely honest... I think that' complete bullshit if he tells you that he doesn't notice this girl flirting with him.
I used to have a boyfriend like that. He flirted constantly, and had a couple different girls flirt with him constantly. It was always the same girls. I always asked him to stop, or stop the other girls, and his response was ALWAYS:
"I don't even realize these things. I'm sorry, I'll stop"
It never stopped, and recently, after breaking up a year or two ago, I found out he was cheating on me with those girls the entire time.
Seriously, guys aren't as stupid as they try to sound. It's just easier for them to say that, then to say "I like the attention that I get when I flirt and am flirted with."
If it really bothers you, then you need to say something and actually make him listen to you. If he doesn't care enough to listen to you, like my ex, then break up with him because he isn't worth it.
If you don't do anything about this, then your just going to end up being extremely bitter and untrusting of any guy.

My mother has been annoying me very much, lately. My question is about something that happened today, however. My mom makes me clean every Saturday. One of the things she tells me to clean is a coffee table with a lower level. On the lower level is a apple-shaped baking pan with a Christmas ordiment in it. Well every week the thing bounces around when you move it the slightest bit. So today while I was cleaning it broke. Now my mom is screaming at me for her lack of common sense. She is also making me tell my ill-tempered brother (it's his ordiment) that I broke it and is making me pay for it. Any person with common sense would know not to put a breakable item in a place where it would break. Do I have any right to be mad? If you don't think I do please explain.
To be completely honest with you, I think that you have absolutely NO reason to be mad.
If you clean that spot every week, and you know that the ornament moves around every week, and you know that it's fragile... then you should know enough to be more careful while cleaning there. You should have moved the ornament.
It's your responsibility to accept the concequences of your actions. Just because this was an accident, doesn't meant that your not responsible for it.
The concequences of breaking your brother's ornament is to tell him it was your fault and to pay for it. Why is that so unreasonable?
Your mother is not screaming at your for her lack of common sense. In my humble opinion it is your lack of common sense for not moving the ornament in the first place. This question sounds like a prime example of a complaint from a spoiled teenager.
sorry if you find my response rude, I just hate it when people bitch about petty problems with such disrespect to their parents.

today in lacrosse practice we were running up and down metal bleachers when my leg caught a corner. the cut is a little deep but my friend put peroxide on it and a bandaid. when i got home, i changed the bandage. now i just took a shower and put bacitraycin plus on it but it looks red around the cut. does this mean its infected? if so what do i do (besides see a doctor)??
One phase of healing that your body goes through is called inflamation. That is the phase where the area becomes red and inflamed. It basically means the the white blood cells are all doing their jobs at fighting the infection and healing the skin.
After that there's the scabbing phase where the red blood cells and platelets clot around the cut. While all that is happening, scarification will begin to grow over the cut, underneath the scab. Soon, once the scarificated skin has grown over the cut, the scab will no longer be attatched and will fall off.
The look of the scarification could vary. You could have an actual visible scar, depending on how deep and badly damaged the skin was. But, that will begin to fade with time. You may not even have a visible scar. The skin could grow back looking like it normally did before.
So, what your experiencing right now is called inflammation, which is a GOOD part of healing. It means that the white blood cells are getting rid of any risk of infection.
If you keep taking care of it, as you are now, then it shouldn't be long before it heals up, but, like I said, depending on how bad it actually is, there may be a slight scratch visible for a while. No one can really say exactly how long it will take without actually seeing it.

im asking this question for my friend...
one year ago, when my friend and her family were away, some little girl was walking through the alleyway. my friend's neighbor's dog is really big and scary, so the little girl ran, and jumped my friend's fence to hide from the dog, and as a result, broke her arm and needed surgery.
one year later, my friend's parents get a letter in the mail saying that they will be getting sued because it happened on their property. IT'S NOT EVEN THEIR FAULT. can they fight against this?
If your friends neighbors did not have a "Beware of dog" sign on their property, clearly visible, than they are the one's who should be sued.
Here's why:
If you go onto someone's property and are not warned that they have a dog, and then get hurt by that dog, then it is their property owner's fault. Running away from the dog and falling constitutes being hurt by the dog.
Therefore, when the girl ran from the dog, on your friend's neighbors property, and stupidly broke her arm, it is legally the poor dog's fault.
If your friend's neighbors had clearly marked "Beware of Dog" signs on their property at good intervals away from each other, then it's the girls fault and she can't sue anyone.

I rolled over in bed last night & kind of hit my cat... & she wasn't 2 happy so she crached my face all up & the worst 1 is on my nose... & it dosen't hurt, but its really bad & gross looking & all this Neosporin smells bad... & my dad didn't want me 2 go 2 school 2day cos it might get enfected or something might go wrong & its really bad looking... & so whats the best way 2 make it look better as fast as possibul & it dosen't have 2 heal, but just look good? & I'm not gonna try make up, cos I'm a guy
Cat scratches suck ass. Dissinfect it right away with rubbing alcohal. And continue to do so until it starts to look better. All you need to do is dab the rubbing alcohal on with a Q-tip, or cotton ball, and then wash your face with anti-bacterial soap. Just be careful not to get it in your eye.
Seriously, we use alcohal to dissinfect almost EVERYTHING at the cat spay/neuter clinics that I volunteer at. There's always a spray bottle full of it at every table to use on anything that gets dirty from the kitties.

MY puppy is only 10 weeks old what should I do
**Edit
Do not wait a couple days to take her to the vet, and Do not feed her some formula from Petco without talking to a Veterinarian first. At ten weeks, you should take her to the Vet after throwing up ONCE. Especially considering the other things thats going on with her that you told me about in your previous question. This is not normal and should be looked at RIGHT away.
**
Seriously, no one on this site will be able to tell what is wrong with your dog simply by "my puppy is a pit and she is throwing up her food"
You need to take her to a Vet. Like I said previously, vomiting, even if it's just once or twice, is very serious in a young dog, and in a very old dog. TAKE HER TO A VET. There should be an emergency vet clinic somewhere near you if her regular Vet is not open.
If it's about the money, then at least call a Vet near you. They can help you figure out what to do, and get every bit of information possible. There could be a number of different things wrong with your puppy, and the only one who can figure out what is wrong, is an educated professional who can see her and do a bunch of tests.
That is a Veterinarian and the Vet. Technicians who work with him/her.
[view]
This is my first puppy we love her but are not sure what to do she is throwing up her food and I think there is blood in her bowels what should I do she only 10 months old
I can't possibly know what is wrong with her. But ANY kind of vomit or diarrea in a young puppy should be examined more fully. You need to bring her to a Veterinarian.
It could be something as simple as a change in diet.
But she could have ingested a poison. She could have internal parasites. She could have many other serious diseases, but this can't be determined unless someone actually examines her.
I would suggest bringing her in as soon as possible. Puppies, just like human babies, get sick easily, and if they aren't taken care of properly, a small sickness to an older dog, could be turn into something seriously dangerous to a young dog.

Today, I bought a sketch book called, "Fine Art Scratch And Sketch." It wasn't some expensive art book, it was only $12.99. But, it had black coated paper, with a weird pencil ith no lead, and you just scratch the black coating off and it would be really silver, or glittery under the coat of the paper, and I found myself to be very great at this, I love doing it. But, I am almost out of pages, so I needed to know what type of paper this is. Like the actual name so I can look for it at an art store near by. Its black, and you can take anything thats sharp and scratch it off, and its very neat looking, you can make your own pictures on it. Does anyone have any idea what this type of paper is?
In my high school, or middle school art class, we made paper like that by painting a few layers of ink onto some silver paper.
If you go into an art supply store and ask whoever is at the counter, they can either tell you where to find it, or show you some that they have right in the store. It's called scratchpaper, or scratchboard.
Go here:

I have an artist friend who swears by Dick Blick for all of his art supplies.

I'm not sure how much you know about fake tan but I like your advice so I'll ask you anyway.
I am very very pale, I always have been. I just can't tan, it's literally impossible, I just burn. This year I would like to get some sort of tan and I have decided to use a fake tan because it's probably safer. Which brands are good? Waht type should I use? I don't want bright orange skin, just a slight glow that starts off pale but that I can gradually build up over a few weeks to make the colour stronger.
I'm pretty clueless when it comes to sunless tanning. But, I have always been very pale and have a hard time tanning. It's not impossible, it just takes a long time. I just starting tanning at a booth. I started as little as 3 or 4 minutes, and slowly, very slowly worked my way up to 12 minutes each time.
But, I wouldn't suggest doing that. The only reason I'm continueing to do it is because I'm going to Florida for a week in a month or so, and going from Maine, way up by Canada, all the way to Florida, way down by the equator, would be a huge shock to my skin if I didn't prepare it.
I hate what it is doing to my skin, and would much rather get my pale skin back, as opposed to continueing to kill my skin after I get back from Florida.
So, basically, I can't help you at all. I just thought I'd bore you with all this to tell you not to tan at a tanning booth. Sorry. :)

I have a kitten that is about 7 months now and just last month she went into heat. I understand that this period lasts for about 2 weeks when they are acting not like themselves. Well now just a few days ago she came into heat again, I also understand they go into heat about twice a year, well why is she going into her second period so soon? Also, she follows Boo (our 3 year old female cat)around the house making these weird, annoying, constant, chirpping noises. Me, being her "mom" can't go anywhere without her following behind me, unless she is bothering Boo and doing what my mother calls "assuming the position" I can't even go to the bathroom for 2 seconds without her throwing a fit of loud howls. My questions are: Why is this happening so close to the last on? And why does she constantly need my attention? I give her LOADS everyday all ready, this cat is my baby! Another thing is she a lesbein for following my female cat around and "assuming the position"? She hasn't been outside in a while and we don't own any male cats just 3 girls. Please help me!
Cat go into heat more often than twice a year. In fact, just a few weeks ago, I volunteered at a spay/neuter clinic to spay and neuter homeless cats and help them get homes. One female that was spayed had two sets of kittens in her, at different stages. Both sets of litter were aborted (some people think it's mean, but I'd much rather save one older cat, than bring ten or twenty more homeless feral cats into the world.)
Anyway, so this means a cat is able to get pregnant, while they're still pregnant. So, they can also go into heat right after she was previously in heat.
Please, please get her spayed. It will stop her from going into heat, stop her from "assuming the position", stop her from needing constant attention, and as an added benefit, it will cut her chances of getting ovarian cancer as she gets older.
She needs your attention because she's in heat and feels her maturnal instincts calling to her. She is calling for a male cat to come and have his way with her.
Is she a lesbian? I think your cat just wants any kind of action she can get. There are no male cats around for her to get it, so she goes for the female of the house.
That question is irrelevant anyway.
So... don't let her outside, and get her spayed as soon as possible. Please.

Hi, I have a female golden retriever.
she is 8 years old, but very active, and a fun and really REALLY good dog! she is very obident. The only problem we have with her is that she is over weight. She loves to play outside, chase tennis balls, frizbies, go on walks and swim! When she goes on walks, she does fine, but when i try to run with her, she gets tired really fast. but when she walks she loves it! I Love my dog a lot, and i read on your page that your dog passed away, and i want to make sure that when my dog does, that she has had the best life, and that we did everything we could to keep her alive as long as she could! and we are afraid that she is going to blow a knee or hurt her hips! because she is about 10LBS over weight. she gets weight control treats and food! and we dont want to switch her food, because when we do she gets sick. so i just want to know if what we are doing, by playing with her and walking and running her is good. also, when it gets warmer, we will take her to my g-maws to swim. but now, just walks and things? i really want her to lose the weight, so she is healthy. so, could you please help?! thank you so much, and i am sorry that it is so long, i just wanted you to have all of the info, so that you can help me!
thank you so much in advance! if you need to know anything else, leave one in my inbox!
Thanks!!
-*Kels*-
P.S.- my dog comes from a large boned family, but she is stuff overweight. Also, i dont know if it makes a difference, but she is a light furred golden retriever. :)
thanks!
It's so refreshing to hear of someone who takes care of their animals as well as you do. I think it's great that you still play with her and exercise her. All dogs need that. Dogs are supposed to be able to be just as active throughout their entire lives as they were when they were puppies.
Well, maybe not JUST as active, but pretty darn close.
Swimming is an excellant form of exercise, and you should bring her swimming as often as possible. It will be much better on her joints, because she will not have to hold up all of her body weight.
Don't push her too much, so, if she doesn't look like she wants to run as much, then don't make her. But do continue to walk her and play fetch with her as often as possible.
Even though she is large boned, that should not make a difference in getting her weight down. A good way to tell whether she is at a good weight is to feel her sides. You are supposed to be able to feel her ribs with minimal pushing, but they should not be very pronounced. When looking at the side and top, she should also have a pronounced waist that is thinner than her chest.
Since you are already doing good with her exercise, I would guess that you are feeding her too much. Not all dogs have the same matabolism, just like humans, and some dogs tend to gain more weight with less food, than other dogs. That's why the general feeding amounts that are on the bag of dog food are not always correct for every particular dog. I would suggest cutting back a little bit.
At 155 pounds, my Rottweiler was around 15 pounds overweight when I had to find a new home for him (he didn't die, I just said he went away because it's easier than explaining what actually happened) Anyway, he had a diet of Nutro:Natural Weight Maintenance. I only fed him 4 1/2 to 5 cups of it a day, which didn't seem like a lot considering how large he was.
If you could tell me her weight and how much you feed her now, I might be able to help you figure out how much to cut it back by.
If you do decide to cut her food back by a bit, I would suggest feeding it all in smaller meals more often each day. For instance, I fed my dog 2 cups in the morning, and then throughout the day I would give him two more meals, each a little over a cup. If you give her three or more meals a day, it will be better for her.
Also, her coat doesn't make a difference. The breed description is a cream to golden colored coat. The different shades of coat don't matter much.
Good luck, and I hope your puppy lives a long and healthy life.

Yesterday I answered a question and I got I really mean and bad feedback for it when I was really trying to help and be nice and explain everything. So I was wondering what I did wrong because it really hurts me and I do care. And also is there a way to change my feedback because it really messes up my rating (I usually get 5s and now I got a 2)?
Here’s the question:
i go to this really preppy biotchy school in dc (all girls, private, kiss kiss) but anyway, i used ta be a really sweet person and like really focused and dedicated in life, but my school has really changed me...i find that i am really judgemental of people in a bad way...and i spend way too much time deciding what to wear and i do alot of trashy stuff with guys...what should i do?
Here’s the answer:
Dear,
It’s nice that you realize you have changed. Now one of the reasons why you changed might be that you seek the approval of the people around you and you feel the need to fit in. Or it might be that your friends influence you and as Oscar Wild said “There’s no such thing as good influence”. We are usually influenced by significant others which means that we are influenced by people like our parents, friends, movie stars and so on, people we respect (it’s a sociological fact, I am not just making it up).
So now if you want to be more like your old self, you should start being yourself and believe me I know how hard it can be sometimes. Do not be afraid to stand up for what you believe in and speak your mind. If your friends are doing something you think is wrong then tell them and most of all do not do it just because they are doing it. Be who you want to be not who your classmates think you should be. It’s nice that you want to be a better person now you just have to get the courage to change.
Also about the judgmental part, try putting yourself in other people’s place before you judge them and try to find out the reasons behind their actions.
Changing takes time but that’s until it becomes a habit. So one day just say to yourself that you are going to be nice to people from that point on, so next time you want to make a remark that would hurt someone think how you would feel if you were in their shoes. Start being sympathetic, start making compliments and be encouraging even if you don’t feel like it and at first it will feel unnatural but after time it will become a part of you. There’s not a secret to changing, you’ve got to make an effort at first.
Good Luck!
This is the feedback (I got 2 for it):
Thank you for that condescending lecture. And thank you for reitterating my point: I do want to go back to being myself. Unfortunately, you have not supplied the requested HOW of the matter. Better luck next time, deeeaarrrr.
Please help! I rate high!

People do not like the hear the truth sometimes. If you speak honestly and give them exactly what they need to hear, some people tend to get angry and tell you "don't lecture me"
I would not worry about it. Ratings do not mean anything. Especially if you get alost all fives, and then one little itty bitty 2.
I wouldn't worry about it. Continue to give your good, honest advice, and hope that it will get through to the intelligent people out there.
*EDIT*
I looked at that question. The person who asked it rated horribly, so I went through and changed some of them. Level 2 and 3 moderators can do that if we feel that there is a need to.
Also, this probably would have been a good question to send to the "Report Abuse" link. Next time provide a link to the specific question instead of just copying it here. We need specific links if you want us to investigate anything.

Since you are a Veterinary Technology major, let me ask your opinion. How do you feel about declawing cats? I use to say that it was horribly wrong, and abusive to cats. But lately my cat has started a bad habit of clawing the couch and the sheets, leaving snags and holes. And when she sits in my lap, she neads her paws and her nail are digging in deeper and deeper. Last night I screamed it hurt so bad. I clip her nails about every two weeks, but it doesn't help. It has never been a problem with her before, she just seems to be getting worse. I am now debating wether or not to get her declawed. I really don't want to put her through it, but I am worried about my furniture, and myself, not to mention my future children. Would it be terrible of me to declaw her? What other options do I have?
I've always thought it was a horrible thing, and I hate to see all the little kitties in the vets office overnight with their claws all bloody and bandaged up.
But it's a thing I'm going to have to deal with while working at a Vet clinic.
I'm sure you already know, but I've encountered a lot of people that don't really know what "declawing" really is, so I'll tell you a bit.
The name is really missleading since the surgery does not just leave the cat without claws. It actually takes out the last bone in all of their paws (usually only the front paws since the back claws are rarely used for scratching) See the last digit on your fingers, the part where your nail is attatched? It would be like removing that on all of your fingers.
It leaves the cats trying to use their claws. Sort of like the feeling of "I can feel my leg" even though a person's leg has been amputated. I imagine that it is a very painfull procedure and aftercare.
After saying all that, I will say that in some cases it can be useful and necessary. For instance, I have talked to someone who knew an older lady who was deathly allergic to cat scratches, yet she had her cat for years. She did not want to get rid of her beloved cat, but she could not risk getting scratched. In this case, it is a good idea to get the cat declawed.
In most cases I would say that clipping the nails can be very beneficial, but you already do this. I would say that you should try to use nail coverings, to see if that will work. I've never actually seen them, but there are some coverings that you can buy, that will go over the cats claws and prevent her from using them. Like I said, I've never seen them, and don't know how well they work, or how easy they are to put on. But it seems like it would be worth a try.

Here's a helpful little website that you could look at to start you off with information.
If this was only a problem with your furniture, I would suggest working with scratching posts and putting sticky pads on the places that you don't want scratched. But, when it becomes a problem to yourself and your children, then that makes it a bit more serious.
Another thing I might add is that, since this is a new behavior, it might be a health problem. There may be something wrong with your cat's claws that are causing her pain and irritation. She may have an infection or some sort of parasites that she is trying to get rid of by scratching everywhere.
It could also be that your not trimming her nails short enough, but that would be something that only a professional, who can see the claws, can evaluate.
Try the softpaws nail caps. If that doesn't work, then see a Veterinarian. He/she can give you a good idea of every option you would have. If nothing works, then it's not horrible of your to declaw her. Most people would have sent the cat to a shelter by now, at least your working with her and trying to find out about every option available.
Oh, also, as I was writing all this, I kept thinking that maybe she just has some scratching urges inside her that she needs to get out with a bunch of scratching posts. But I could just be thinking that because of the Futurama episode where Bender had to become a Bender for a while because of his pent up need to bend things. Eh, it's worth a try. :)

Along with all three of our mothers, my two cousins and I are all really close too (we're all females). One is 2 years older and the other is 2 years younger. Well, we've always done the "hand-me-down" thing and we've always been right around the same size--all three of us, but still. I would be my cousin's clothes and then my other one would get mine. But my two cousins are both now sharing a room (my youngest one is now living with my older one) but the thing is, she rips up all her clothes and sews them up. But every time my older cousin cleans out her closet, the clothes are supposed to go to ME. And even she agrees with that. Because no 1, I'm the next oldest, and no 2, because I'll wear the clothes as is and I won't tear them up. When I'm done with the clothes, she can have them and then rip them or whatever. But lately she'll go through her clothes before I do, and before telling my older cousin and it pisses me off. I'm supposed to get her clothes next, but she just goes through it. She took a really good pair of jeans (my older one just went into the Navy, so she cleaned out her closet). I've always had my eye on this pair of bootleg jeans that she had. Well, my cousin went through it the other day AFTER my older one said she wanted me to go through it first, because she knew I would wear them as is, and they're my type, well my other one took the pair and now she's going to sew them up (she's a "punk") and she'll ruin them!! God, what should I do, because she ALWAYS does this. The clothes aren't even her type--she'll take them and ruin them to fit her. I'm next in line, not her and its always been that way. What should I do??
How can you say she has NO style of her own? Just because it's not what you like. Just because it's a "dirty punk look" and not the cute 50's look that you and your older cousin tried to dress her in, doesn't mean that it isn't her style and what she wants.
If your upset that she took the cloths before you, then go in her room and tell her that. Tell her that your older cousin wanted you to have them first, and she will need to wait before she cuts them up.
Don't sit there and say she "ruins" the cloths just because it's not what you would do with them.
"The clothes aren't even her type--she'll take them and ruin them to fit her"
That is so rude. How can you say your close with her if you come on here and insult her style so much?
