Hi, I'm Laura. I'm a senior in college & I'm slowly deciding what I want to do with my life. I love Harry Potter, coffee, writing, and sleeping (amongst other things). I'll never claim to know everything, but I'm confident in my ability to help people with their problems. Feel free to send me an inbox question; I'll get back to you!
A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.
BU 2014 :)
wicked awesome conversations
^my forum, liven it up a little?

I live down south in Georgia and right now its very hot. I've noticed that latley when it's been getting so hot, its very hard to keep my hair smooth and straight. My hair's been up in a ponytail all week because its so frizzy and poofy cause of the heat and its starting to curl up after I straighten it. Is there anything I can use or do to make it go back to being smooth, sleek and straight again?
well I live in New England and almost nothing will keep your hair 100% straight in the really hot weather, but I've found that putting lots of hairgel in your hair before straightening really helps.
Also Frizzease or something along those lines. And wash your hair everyday, so it doesn't get oily.

Everyone keeps saying for really dry hair you should use olive oil to make it soft and smooth again. Well I did... now it wont come out. lol My hair is an oily mess! I've washed it 7 times already and it's still as oilly as before. HELP!!!!
clarifying shampoo works really well for getting oil out. The best one I've used is Suave, and its only 99 cents a bottle too! also, when you apply the oil, only put it on your ends and work it up towards your scalp. But since you're probably drenched in oil right now and don't feel like waltzing into a store, just wash your hair again, with a LOT of shampoo. It'll come out eventually, don't worry. =]

How do you superscript the little hearts in AIM profiles? (Like in the previous question you answered about it) How do you superscript anything? Thanks ill rate a five.
use the code < sup > (with no space, obviously) before the text and then < /sup > to cancel it.
ok i want to know how to get a heart like on aim. I know you do alt then some numbers or something and you get that copyright sign or...but what are the numbers and what do you do after that?
the previous answer, I don't think it works on AIM.. but on myspace and many chat forums it does.
to get hearts on AIM (there are three I can think of off the top of my head)
© (or ALT+0169), in font face= symbol (also looks really cute when it's superscripted)
a lowercase a or e in "smallfonts" with the smallest font size possible will make a tiny heart, like one that is resting on its side.
any more questions, just drop one in my inbox!

Hey iam a 17 year old female and I still havn't gotten my wisdom teeth how old are you usually when you get your wisdom teeth?
I wouldn't worry about it, remember, some people don't have them at all!
If you're really worried you can get your teeth x-rayed at the dentist =)

Hey
I'd like to know the best straitener that you know of
also what is the best protective spray out there less than $100?
thanks!
I've had three straighteners.. I have Remington Wet2Style and i find it straightens jsut as well as the really expensive, gold-plated one my stylist uses. (and it stays straight for as long as you keep your hair dry, and wont re-curl in mild to moderate humidity!! always a plus!)
As for protective sprays or whatever, I use Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum =). There's entire haircare lines that you could get (shampoo, conditioner, serum, spray, hairspray) that you could easlily get for about $100. And it's differnt for every hair type, so I'd ask your hairdresser what she recommends.

i know that you can take a test to see weather or not you've done drugs but if you did drug when you were 14 and then took a drug test when you 18 would it show up....don't worry i'm not a freaking idiot who would f*** up their life just to get a high and seem cool for a minutes so don't worry i was just wondering
I know some drugs can show up in a drug test for awhile after you used them, but none last four years. don't worry. :]
oh and don't eat poppyseed bagels before a drug test. it'll say you're an opium addict. Just an FYI if you didn't know already! lol

okay i need some new hairstyles (not haircuts styles but hairdos) does any one know any websites which you dont have to log in to or download and does anyone know how to have scrunchy curls (or whatever) without using gel and how do you do it with a curling iron because i tried and they are just like ringlets! okay i know i asked alot but thanks!
well scrunchy curls are usually like that because of the gel. If you're worried about buildup I'd try something like Herbal Essences Smoothing creme, I've found it works sort of like gel in terms of how it makes your hair look. But it doesn't always last as long as a gel however it all depends on what you do (running or biking as opposed to sitting on the couch) and your hair type. Also, the extra hold gel, also from Herbal Essences, doesn't build up much, and has a slightly "crunchy" effect on your hair, which you either love or hate :]
If you still don't want to use gel, I'd try either braiding your hair in small sections and twisting it as you go and leave it in overnight, or use a curler intended for tight curls. I have been blessed/cursed with naturally curly hair, therefore I've never actually CURLED my hair. But I know every beauty supply store sells them, so I'd ask someone who works there. or ask a friend who curls their hair. Or you could use a curling iron that isn't really skinny (like a 1", or combine two or three thicknesses in your styling routine)

i heard that brushing your hair too much will cause split ends so what can i do to not cause so many split ends other than trimming
brushing your hair does NOT cause split ends.. but straightening excessively can (trust me)
Use a shampoo that repairs damage, because then it will.. repair damage? haha sorta obvious. My hairstylist has me use Paul Mitchell Super Skinny serum (it protects your hair from the elements and will lessen the damage on your hair when you flatiron/blowdry/curl) And for shampoo she has me use BedHead Moisture Maniac. I'd ask whoever does your hair for what they recommend, but the above products I suggested have worked wonders for me. Good Luck!

hi,i was just wondering what kind of books you would recamend if i liked books that involved teenage love, drama, and most of all best friends wanting to become lovers who are generally a teen.
any of those if fine but i get interested in teen romance stuff.thanks
well, I read the book Pretty Things by Sara Manning. It was rather interesting- two straight people and two gay/lesbian people all got thrown together in the same drama camp, and they all end up falling in love with each other. Like I siad, interesting. But I think it's worth reading (although I recommend getting it on sale or at a library you wont want to read it more than once)
my face is really oily. i don't wear make-up so sometimes it is extremely noticable. i use biore shine control face wash and that works pretty good. does anybody know any other products that would help? or anything that i can do to reduce the shine? i'll rate 5's for anyone who tries!!
well, don't wash your face more than twice, MAYBE three times a day. In between, I recommend a gentle astringent (which will totally refresh your face) and also, Clean and Clear makes a product called Oil Absorbing Sheets, and they do just what the name implies. They work really well and are about $3.99- $5 for 50 sheets. And don't touch your face too much, that'll just make it worse. Lastly, don't overdry your skin, make sure you moisturize. It sounds weird, but if you take out ALL the oil, your pores overreact and produce lots of oil, which leads to that lovely "oil slick" on your forehead. I'd recommend Boire Shine control mosturizer, It's oil free, very light, and pleasant smelling :]

I'm playing Only One by Yellowcard as a guitarist, but I can't find violin notes for my violinist. I was wondering does anyone have any idea where I can find violin notes for the song?
okay, I just looked through google too, and all I found out is that www.yellowcardrock.com listed some violin music back in 2004 (yeah, big help, huh?). How long has your violinist been playing? Because she could listen to the song a few times then play it by ear.

has anyone seen the movie "just like heaven?" if you have, can you please tell me what it's about and if it's good or not? i wanted to know for a gift for v-day. thanks!
yes, I've seen it and I absolutely ADORE it. It's about a girl who works at a hospital and has NO social life, then one day she's in an accident and is put into a coma. Then this guy moves into her apartment and her spirit is like haunting the place and they fall in love.. it's a really good movie. I highly recommend it, especially for Valentine's Day.

Okay theres a song, I honestly can't remember the lyrics or the title.
But I know in the music video [ Its a pop song, and I used to see it on MTV alot] The video starts out and you can just see a white man's mouth [ and his mustach] and one of those old fashion microphones and its just a white background. Lol, I know its not much but its all I can remember. Please Help =)
I think it might be the Foo Fighters' "Best Of You" but you said it's a pop song, although some people DO consider rock as part of the "pop" genre.
anyway, Foo Fighters videos can be found here:
http://search.music.yahoo.com/search/?m=video&p=foo+fighters
Best of You is the second-to-last one.
That's all I can think of, sorry!

I'm just curious. I know this sounds weird and I might sound uneducated, but are black roses just romanticized ideas by the silly minds of Gothic fashion fans, or is it actually possible to grow black roses?
actually, they are real. Tiger Woods had a ton of them at his wedding because they were his fiance's favorite flower. What's interesting is that they're actually a deep purple but not actually black. If you go to a good florist they would probably stock them. Or you could special order.
p.s. you can also get silk ones at craft stores such as A.C. Moore and Michaels.

well, ive liked this boy for months! hes a really shy sweet guy and i dont think that hes ever had a gf before. but a couple of nights ago, i found out that he liked me to. i was having a party, and he was there, and we sorta hung out. hes a very nervous and shy person, so he doesnt really tlak to me that much. but im a shy person to. well, last night, he asked me out. and i said yes. but today, we barely said more then 2 sentences to each other. and i have no idea what to do. im shy, and hes shy, and we cant have a relationship if were never going to talk to each other. but i realli like him, and i really want this to work. does anyone know what i should do so that we could communicate more, and like make our relationship work..?
thanks
well, he worked up the courage to ask you out, and that takes more courage than simply talking to someone, trust me. You're likely just nervous about looking stupid in front of each other. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!! =) really, if you just try having a normal conversation about anything (even ''hows the weather'' if you're too shy for anything else at the moment =D ) talk about whatever you can think of. Like, what do you talk about with your friends at lunch, or when they're over your house? Just by having normal, everyday conversations you'll become more comfortable with each other. Good luck with everything and I hope it all works out!

Am i the only person who actually HATES panic! at the disco???
EVERYONE at my highschool is "scene" and they love panic!.. when ppl found out theyre like "omg she doesnt like panic!!" then they went off and cut their wrists and cried about stupid stuff.
So yea if anyone else hates panic please tell me.
I'd get over it.. it's not a big deal. ITS A BAND!
and about the "scene" thing, it's part of one of the songs (make us IT, make us HIP, make us SCENE). but can ALSO be stereotyping.
gosh. why are people hated over such trivial things like BANDS? sheesh. it's not like everyone is worshipping the Devil besides you.
