Hi, I'm Laura. I'm a senior in college & I'm slowly deciding what I want to do with my life. I love Harry Potter, coffee, writing, and sleeping (amongst other things). I'll never claim to know everything, but I'm confident in my ability to help people with their problems. Feel free to send me an inbox question; I'll get back to you!
A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.
BU 2014 :)
wicked awesome conversations
^my forum, liven it up a little?
advice
This is probably pretty simple -- but how do I reset my ipod? Is there a way to do that without resetting my itunes or deleting all of my music or whatever?
Thanks in advance!
A "light" or minor reset = hold down "Menu" and the center button (the round one) at the same time. The apple should appear on the screen.
If you need to COMPLETELY reset your iPod, you WILL lose the music. BUt it will still be in iTunes. If you need to know how to save all the music on your iPod, ask me to my inbox.
When the iPod's connected to your computer, open iTunes. When the iPod shows uip, there's a restore option under the source list.
hope I helped! If you need more specific details, ask me to my inbox. Or, I'm on AIM (lauraxomichelle)
=) Merry Christmas!
Is there any way I can disconnect my ipod while it says "do not disconnect"? Because I have been charging it for like hours and it wasn't even very battery-drained when I hooked it up. I'm afraid to disconnect it! Someone please help this is URGENT!!!
It'll probably be fine. Sometimes that screen never goes away.
But it should go back to normal if you just open iTunes, and in the source list (on the left) you hit the eject button.
If, after waiting a few minutes, that screen doesn't disappear, disconnect it anyways. They worst that could happen is that if songs were being transferred, they might not be there.
alright so my ipod mini has been having problems where im on my recently added playlist and for some reason now my menu button doesnt work so i cant listen to anything else and im stuck listening to only 7 new songs i have added.. any advice on getting it fixed?
thanks in advance
Your click wheel could be jammed. The same thing happens to mine. If you press harder than you usually do and scroll around for a bit, it may pop back.
Also, if you get to the last song, and press the next button, it should just go back to the main menu. You could change what you were listening to from there.
If that doesn't work, try resetting. Now, the normal way to reset is to hold down Menu and the center button at the same time. Obviously, this won't work. So when you have the iPod plugged in to your computer, open iTunes and reset your iPod form the source list (make sure you have all your music saved/backed up, 'cause this'll erase your iPod!)
If, after reloading the music and everything, the iPod STILL gets stuck, one of the new songs you added could be a corrupted file, especially if it's an MP3 from LimeWire.
Sooo if you're STILL having a problem, I'm out of ideas. Since you're probably attached to your now obsolete mini (I am as well) and don't want to get a nano, call 1(800)MY APPLE and they might have an idea of what could be wrong.
hope I helped, and Merry Christmas/Hannukkah/Kwanzaa/whatever! =)
Okay, so I have acne and obviously I have to cover it up so I always put on foundation and coverup.. but it doesnt make my skin look good.. so I've noticed that without like foundation my skin looks better but is there any like toner or anything that will make my face less red and get rid of those gay acne scars that are left? Thanks for any advice.
Yessss.
Acne scars fade with time. Lots and lots of time. But they will fade eventually. Maybe it's all in my head, but ever since I started using a scrub every night I've seen drastic improvements in the appearance of my skin. I recommend St. Ives Apricot Scrub- the regular one. Not the one for acne; it smells weird.
Proactiv Daily Oil Control helped with redness a little. It's kind of expensive and you can only get it at the mall kiosks (as far as I know) but it's worth a shot.
Using a generous amount of moisturizer (oil free!) right before applying foundation helps even out your skin. Your makeup will then go on smoother and will fade more naturally- it won't get all cakey and gross. Also, try not to use so much coverup! Foundation covers pretty well. Save coverup for the very worst zits. Trust me, your skin looks wayy worse to you thamn everyone else. Too much coverup = plastic effect. Try Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. It works better than coverup (at least in my experience)
hey, well my parents found out that i was on this website a few months ago. they kicked me off it and told me that im not allowed to go on it again. im 13/f. i tried to tell them that people need advice on stuff that they cant ask there parents or there friends, or just stuff there embarased to ask anyone that they know. they said why would anyone want a 13 year olds advice. they dont approve of this site, but im in love with it. what can i do to make them approve of it?
Have them get an account. They can get more of a "feel" for the site, and may even realize that there's a lot of good advice on here.
And who wants a 13 year olds advice? Someone who's their age. Do your parents know what color tank tops to layer together if you're trying to catch the eye of a green-eyed Aries? Of course not. Well, not many of us do, either. But you get my point ;D. There's questions we've got that an adult simply won't know the answer to. For the important life lessons, we should absolutely go to our parents. But for makeup and guy advice, someone our own age will simply give a better answer!
how do i get my make up to look like these pics..???

Use lots of black or dark gray smokey eyeshadow. Then use a few coats of volumizing mascara, but only on the top lashes. The look they were going for, from the looks of each, is to enhance the eyes but keep all other makeup to a minimum. Like, don't do your eyes like that and wear bright red lipstick. Stick to a sheer gloss and a natural-looking, smooth complexion.
Theres a song im pretty sure its from final fantasy it goes "Didnt you know i had my eye on you" or somethng like that and a girl sings it.
If anyone can tell me the name and stuff, that would be soo great =]
Thanks
All I found on Google was that it's the theme of Final Fantasy II and it's called "Eyes On Me"
Here's the lyrics:

okay so i dyed my hair yesterday. my natural hair color is dark brown and i wanted it to be a lighter shade of brown. but after i dyed it, it was a little orangish brown with blonde highlights at the front where my bangs were. and that was the place i wanted it the darkest. I went and bouight hair dye and tried to dye the blonde parts dark, and it turned out a little bit darker than it already was.
and i cant really go out and buy another hair dye, cause my moms pissed off at me already =[
whats a simple way to make my bangs a teeny bit darker?? THANKS
Jeez, why is she so mad? It's not your fault the color turned out differently than it was on the box.
YOu can make them a bit darker by washing a few times with clarifying shampoo (it'll help fade the dye sooner) and using a color-depositing shampoo. I know Paul Mitchell has a bunch, but I'm sure there's a few at WalMart and CVS if you look.
good luck! & tell your mom not to worry. I'm sure the color will grow on her.

With the wings and everything?
I've been wanting it for the longest time, and I can't find it.
Thank you so much.
I found either this exact font, or one super close. It's just called El Gothic Font or omething. Here's a site you can download it from for free- no viruses either so don't worry.

I've been dating one of my really good guy friends for a few weeks and we have a really tyte realtionship. So he told my friend that hes buying me like $20 worth of stuff for Christmas. My mom thinks we should've waited a little longer to start going out.. so she doesn't know we are. So therefore, I couldn't get him anything more than a "just friends gift". Which is some cookies and a little novelty thing (a whiteboard that hangs from your doorknob?!--mom bought it).
I feel really bad because I really really really really like him and I feel bad that he's spending so much on me and I'm being Miss Cheap-o.
Should I get him something after break (when my mom knows that were going out) as a "Make-Up Christmas"?
If yes, then what should I get him??
I'm so confused.
---14/f
Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Make a nice platter of cookies, and decorate some of them with frosting, maybe with "I Adore You!" on some of them (hide them under plain cookies so your mom doesn't see haha)
Homemade, thoughtful gifts mean a lot more than something you buy. As for the whiteboard, write something really cute on it before you give it to him. You're not being Miss Cheap-O, so don't worry about it!
hope I helped, and Merry Christmas! =)
I have a project due on friday for my geometry class. I need to come up with a math bumper sticker. I don't know what should be on it! I have seen funny ones like "there are three kinds of people in this world. ones that can count and ones that can't." But my teacher can't take a joke so does anyone know a math saying I could use that isn't humerous?
There's always the old "Five out of four people have trouble with fractions!"
Or,
"Math is like solving a mystery. Everything adds up"
"Do unto one side what you do to the other" (algebra-related though)
"Look at everything from all possible angles"
haha those kind of stink. Sorry I wasn't much of a help!
does anyone know a good product to make my hair wavy without making it frizzy after i take a shower?
First, make sure your hair is totally detangled. It'll dry with less kinks. (Also, use a wide-toothed comb- it's less damaging than a brush on wet hair.)
For this purpose I strongly recommend Suave for Kids Detangler. It works better than any other detangler, is $2.50 at WalMart, doesn't sting your eyes, and smells like apples. Seriously, you can't lose!
Then use a shine serum like Garnier Fructis Sleek&Shine, John Frienda FrizzEase, or Paul Mitchell Super Skinny. The last two are of a higher-quality. Super Skinny is rather expensive ($17 a bottle) but it lasts me about six months. For me, that's worth it. Scrunch your hair a little after applying .
Let your hair dry for awhile. You may already like how it looks. If not, use a smoothing/styling creme. I've tried oodles of products for this and my best advice here is to find one that you like the smell of, is easy on your budget, and designed for your hair type. Two that stand out (that aren't discontinued/impossible to find) are SunSilk 24/7 Creme and BedHead After Party. Scrunch your hair a little after putting this in as well.
Use a large-barrel curling iron to add a few more waves if you want to. Don't worry, the serums provide heat protection. If you're still concerned, use a protecting spray like VO5 Miracle! or TRESemme Thermal Creations.
Lastly, finish with hairspray. It'll hold your style and keep humidity out.
=)
dear laura
all my friends are popular and attractive i don't think im ugly but not quite as attractive as some of them. they are always getting asked out and getting chatted up by boys but never me. boys never seem to notice me and i'm geting tired of it . i want a date!!!
please help xx
Hey, sorry I didn't answer this sooner; it wasn;t showing up in my inbox!
On to your question. =)
Talk to guys like you would any other friend. You'll be noticed by being yourself. The right guy will come along eventually. Plus, you don't want to be liked based only on how you look. Looks last two weeks; personality lasts.
hey! im 14/f alright, theres this guy who sits next to me in computer class. im a freshman and hes a sophomore. Hes not really the whole "loving romantic guy" , but im starting to like him. He sees me as a talkative freshman who laughs all the time, and we're just friends i guess . But i really want to show my romantic side too. i dont really wanna randomly start flirting with him, or anything cause he'll be like what the heck, since he sees me as a friend-or a little sister. Can you tell me a few ways to get his attention by being sweet and cute in a simple way?? I heard perfumes aren't a bad thing either. Any perfume ideas too?? THANKS SO MUCHH
Get his attention by being yourself! Seriously. Guys are idiots, but they usually know when a girl's being phony.
Yeah, perfume's good =D
I am in love with everything Clinique Happy! I actually got a giftset but I can't use it until Christmas :'(
MaryKay Velocity smells AMAZINGGGGG. But you can only get it from a MaryKay consultant, obviously.
Victoria's Secret Pink and Dream Angels Heavenly are great too. Heavenly is a little bit cheaper though, since the angels mist is as strong as your average eau de parfum.
Aeropostale perfume's not half bad either =) Whatever you decide, smell it first. Go crazy at Macy's and spray every tester. Once you find a scent that's "you", wear it!
Another thing about perfume- if you always wear the same scent, when a guy smells it somewhere else, he'll think of you! Which is a big plus.
The other night me and my friends did a weejee board (not sure how spelt) and it really worked. It was sooo scary. We want to do it again, because these are people like my friends dads and uncles and stuff and they just wanna keep talking to them. Does anyone know if there are any risks of playing this game...or any important things i should know about it?
It depends on what you believe. Ouija boards can be dangerous things to be fooling around with if you're not careful.
Whatever you do, ALWAYS close the portal when you're done, and NEVER burn it or destroy it in any way.
So i have a paper due tomarrow on Tears of a Tiger Analaysis and I wanted to know what are ways to right less but still in size 12 font? are there any bigger fonts or anything? I also need help finding slants in the book. Thanks ALOT
Well, there's always the "stop procrastinating and actually DO it!" route. That's always effective.
Make the line spacing 1.5 or Double, margins 1.25" on all edges instead of 1".
Georgia is a slighty bigger font, I believe. You can sometimes get away with making Times New Roman size 13 too.
Like I said, just focus on the task at hand and you'll actually be able to get the project done WITHOUT bending the requirements.
I stumbled across this site by accident. I seriously doubt many of you have the qualifications to give real people proper advice. After reading some of your responses to people's inquiries i was quite astonished as to how teenagers find they are able to give quality advice and information to real people in need with such little life experience. If you ask me you are not in a place to give your "personal opinion" when people truly believe you are giving them the right answer simply because you claim "people think i give really good advice". (eg. i am still at a loss as to how a 17 year old girl thinks she can give advice to someone regarding conceiving a child) I know you try to come across as a "godsend" to poeple who are in some sort of personal crisis and need a fast easy answer but the truth is, in the cases where it really counts, there rarely is one; at least not from you.
Many of the users on this site ARE teenagers. Keep in mind that people our own age can more easily put themselves in another's shoes. There's plenty of adults here, too, that give better advice than I could ever hope to give.
This site covers so many topics and ideas these days. It has branched off from just "so there's this guy that stares at me all the time and gives me flowers every day do you think he likes meee?" questions. You can get advice about styling your hair, family problems, homework help, music recommendations, getting rid of the nail polish stain in the hallway carpet before you rparents come home, and anything else you can think of.
Most of the questions on this site are about the "little things" in life. For those who may need the help of a professional, we tell them so.
Almost all of us don't try to give advice that we know nothing about. Those that do don't usually stick around here long anyways.
Most of the teenagers on this site have been through more than you could possibly ever wrap your head around, so don't even try. Just because we're teenagers doesn't mean we're stupid, ignorant people who can't help anyone.
If you don't like us, leave. Nobody's making you come here. If you don't like our advice, don't ask us for it.
I colored my hair in August. It had been a golden blonde(In January), which I loved, the first time I got it highlighted. The second time(In May), the lady made all of my hair a white blonde color! It looked plain out scary. So, I went to a beauty school place to try and get them to dye my hair back to my natural brown color(First week of August). Huge mistake. They made my hair almost black and it had green in it! Two days later, I went to a hair cut place called Fantastic Sams and they tried to re-dye it and it turned out a red color with blonde highlights. Because of only waiting two days, it's still damaged and it's December. My hair has already started growing out by three inches finally and I want that part to stay the same. Is there any way that I can get this color out without damaging my hair any further and without having to dye what has already grown out?
If your hair is already damaged, dyeing it again may only make it worse. Use conditioning treatments- whether it's storebought like Sunsilk or Pantene Restoratives, or a simple olive oil treatmeant. After a couple weeks, your hair should show some improvement.
When you DO dye it again, go to a salon (don't do it yourself) because they'll know more about it. Also, you can tell them that you want the color to match your roots, so they'll have something to go by and not just a vague description, which may have caused the problem before.
Lastly, wait longer than two days next time you re-dye your hair! At least a month is best to give your hair time to recover.
hope I helped =)
Okay I'm 14 years old..I have this really good guy friend and we were talking on the phone one night and i was like yea im going to the mall next weekend and hes like ohh i live on the way to that mall you should pick me up and i was like okay and i thought it would be fun and not ackward because we were just friends at the time..well now were going out and we are still planning on going. Since im only 14 obviously my mom is driving me hehe..and so yea im scared that the ride there is going to be really super ackward..any ways to make it not so ackward because the mall is like 1/2 hour away..thanks so much!! HeArT yA!!
Just strike up a conversation! Talk like it's one of your friends and your mom in the car- not your boyfriend. That's how it should be anyways, regardless if you're dating them.
Talk about the weather, where you're gonna shop, anything! What do you talk about with friends a lot? Just do that!
If you don't worry about it too much, everything will be just fine =)
before answering, this question is not based on personality,so please don't answer..."if he has a nice personality"
i know this may seem like a wierd question, but i'm just curious,so thanks for taking the time.
do girls like classical or rock musicians?
and i'm confused, cause i hear girls say that they love musicians, but
1)is it based on skill.exp:the better the guitaring is.the more the girl likes the guy?
does skill affect?or do girls just don't care if he is a sucky guitarist or a pro, they will still like the guitarist as long as he plays guitar??
2)is it also based on looks,?or do girls love great drummers and vocals even through they don't look good? so which one would a girl choose? a kickass drummer with average looks or a sucky drummer with model looks?
thanks for answering, anyways,if you girls like any other type of guys besides musicians....like bikers, car racers or skaters...just feel free to say what talent you would love in a guy.although i hear that most girls are not really into guys that race, but more to guys that are musically or sports inclined,it that true???(this question is not based on looks or personality)
thanks a lot for reading.
It's different for every girl.. but I, like many others, absolutely love the whole "guys with guitars" thing. Or just being in a band at all, it's great! Mad skills don't hurt any, but even if they suck, it's still really cute =) So basically, yes, it's simply the fact that the guy picks up a guitar and attempts to play!
Looks- well, they attract attention at first, but they aren't everything. They don't count for much at all (at least for me). No matter how good-looking a guy is, if he's a total jerk, I'm not interested. Confidence makes anyone more attractive; so believe in yourself!!
As for skaters and car racers, it's whatever a guy has a passion for doing that girls will usually like them for. Like, if you skate because you like to, and not because it's comsidered "cool" this week, you know? Any talent a guy has, whether is burping the alphabet backwards or kicking serious butt playing guitar, is definitely something to use to your advantage.
Well, I hope I helped to answer your question!
