Question Posted Monday December 25 2006, 8:57 pm

Is there any way I can disconnect my ipod while it says "do not disconnect"? Because I have been charging it for like hours and it wasn't even very battery-drained when I hooked it up. I'm afraid to disconnect it! Someone please help this is URGENT!!!

The "Do Not Disconnect" is bull, it just means your ipod isn't fully charged, feel free to ignore it.

yeah you can, but it might not be done. this happened to me before, and it was just that something was screwed up with the computer/ipod. so maybe take it out and plug it back in or something.

Pay NO attention to the answers below.

You can damage your computer, your iPod or both when you just yank the cable out while the iPod screen says "Do Not Disconnect!"

All you should need to do is open iTunes, select your iPod, and click the "eject" button.

This tells your iPod video (or nano, shuffle, click wheel, etc) to get ready to be unplugged.

It makes sure the disk in the iPod isn't doing anything important at the time, and reduces the load on the USB port to help guard against voltage spikes.

If you do that, and are sure you clicked the eject button, but still have no luck, then (if you are a windows user) look in the system tray (down where it shows the time) for an icon that looks like a little green block with an arrow.

Double click that, and it will list anything hooked up tp your computer's USB ports.

Select your iPod Video, and tell it you want to disconnect it. It will then make it safe to remove as far as the computer is concerned.

If you STILL have that message, head over to:

Good luck,

ok i guess what i said before was wrong so look above me on Dangernerds. My computer can't support the i tunes program so I can't do the eject thing. I just plug it out of the computer and it never did anything weird before.

LM answered Monday December 25 2006, 9:10 pm:
It'll probably be fine. Sometimes that screen never goes away.

But it should go back to normal if you just open iTunes, and in the source list (on the left) you hit the eject button.

If, after waiting a few minutes, that screen doesn't disappear, disconnect it anyways. They worst that could happen is that if songs were being transferred, they might not be there.
