I work at a phone center through my college. We call Alumni and stuff.
Of course, there are the titles we address the Alumni by:
Mr.
Mrs.
Ms.
&
Miss
I got into a little debate with my co-worker tonight. He said that the title "Ms." was simply an abbreviation for "Miss." I was taught differently. I was taught that "Ms." is a title used for women who are older, single, or would prefer to be addressed as such. I always thought the title "Miss" was meant for younger, single women/girls. I have never heard of "Ms." and "Miss" meaning the same thing.
Can someone formally explain what they think the titles actually mean? Who's right?

Here is what I found at answers.com.
Feminists have urged the use of Ms. because, unlike Miss or Mrs., it does not identify a woman by her marital status.
So I guess its a way to address a female (as in over the phone?) if you don't know her marital status.

ok I've had depression since I was like 10ish, because I was like homeskooled till I was 14 and I never really got to go anywhere sicne I didnt have anyfriends since I never left the house because I was homeskooled so I only got to see my family and that just wasnt good because girls dont open themselves up and tlk to there parents about stuff they do that to friend s and I nver had any of those so I kept myslef bottled up and I go treally depressed for being alone allthe time. nad now im 15 and I've been going away to skool fo ra year now and im still depressed and my parents know I cu tmyself because of the scars and because I told em that I was because I was depressed bu tthey havnt dont anyting about it they say jsut pray and itll go away because thats what my grandpa did and his want away but praying doesnt work fo rme, it never has and my depression is just getting worse because highskool is just so much drama and I just don twant to live any more I just want to die so I don thave to live with this guilt and unhappiness anymroe. what do I do o convince my parents to get me antidepressants? I don't know why you couldn't if it
is a photo ID and your looks haven't
changed to dramatically.
I think what I'd do is call the club
before you go and ask someone. Get
their name if they say it will work
in case someone hassles you about it
when you get there. :)

If he has been hitting her he needs to
be in jail. That will mean he is arrested
and sooner or later it will go to court.
She does need to call the cops. Its so
sad that some women think they deserve
to be hit by anyone, let alone someone
who supposedly loves them. If you ever
see it happening, you call.
I'm sure she loves him and it is a hard
decision for her to make. We don't have
feelings for him so we don't understand
why she puts up with it.
She needs to hear that you care. That
she is important, and that nobody should
be hurt by someone they love. Keep after
her. I hope she hears you soon.

I've been in this relationship with my boyfriend for nearly three years now. I'm 18, he's 22. I'd like to call it serious, but it's the first relationship I've had that I would even consider calling it serious, so I don't know for sure.
My question is this: when, if at all, would be a good time to talk to him about the future? I mean it's pretty obvious we're going to be together a long time. Since we're both in college now, I feel like it would be a good idea to at least have some general outline for the future of our relationship, as in whether we're going to get married or not and basically what our future goals are.
Of course I don't want to put things in stone, but I've wanted to talk about this with him for awhile and I just don't know if it's a good time.
Early in our relationship, like pretty much all couples do, we would talk about our house and kids and stuff, but only in a cute way and I don't consider that as being serious.

I think now is a very good time.
You have been together for 3 years,
that is a pretty good sign of
seriousness!
You do need to be talking about
kids and marriage to make sure
you both have the same feelings
on the subject. It doesn't have
to mean you are engaged or that
you will marry. What it does do
is keep you from wasting your
time if you don't both have the
same kind of future in mind.
If you plan on having a couple of
kids for instance and find out he
never wants kids at all...well, it
will be time to decide. Do I waste
time on a relationship that has no
future for me? Or do I need to be
looking for Mr right?
I am going to guess you already
know each other pretty well. I
doubt you will have to make a
decision like that. But you need
to know for sure. Talk. :)

First of all thinking and being are
two different things. She needs to
find out for sure.
The easiest way would be to get a
home test. You can buy them at
walmart or any drug store. It
wouldn't hurt for the guy involved
to pay for or help pay for it.
If she is pregnant she may want
help telling her mom. She may want
to do it herself. Encourage her to
do that as soon as possible.
Pregnancies under the age of 18 are
considered to be "high risk" She
needs prenatal care as soon as possible.
If she isn't pregnant encourage her
to educate herself on how not to
have to worry about it again. Not
having sex would be good, but it
would be irresponsible of me to
think that suggestion would stick. :)

Okay, now most people who are going to read this, i dont really know how to word what im saying, but hopefully you'll be able to understand my situation.
now my problem is i feel weird around my parents, when im getting closer and closer with the boyfriend that i have, that they dont know about.
let me fill you in about my relationships with my parents & boyfriend. okay with my parents- im closer with my dad. hes really cool, like he's protective and cautious, but he knows when he needs to just lay off. he also is really smart, and helps me with alot of sticky situations. and my mom, im usually in that "mom leave me alone, im not in the mood. go away" phase, but shes pretty cool. but she can also be a little to noisy, and protective.
& my boyfriend, he really likes me. more then i like him. which is okay, i guess. hes extremely sweet, and respectable.
okay, back to my problem.
i feel kind of weird when we talk about our feelings for each other, like im kind of betraying my parents. i love my parents, but for some reason i just do not want to tell them i have a boyfriend. its just weird. and i do not want to tell them. so whenever my boyfriend and i get closer and closer, i just get a weird feeling like i shouldnt be with him. i dont know why i get that feeling, so i was hoping you could tell me what you think. i need some really good advice here, i dont know what to do.

Heres a grown up opinion for you. :)
First of all your mom probably already
has some suspensions. I think you should
talk to your mom about liking this boyfriend.
There really is no logical reason not to
tell her. Would she think you are to young?
A good way of going about it might be to
ask her if you can invite him over for
dinner or something. Parents have an easier
time agreeing to your dating someone if
they have met him and get the chance to see
that he is not such a bad guy.
You know your not telling your parents
is probably making you feel a little
guilty. Introduce them all and get it
out in the open. You will feel better
about being with your boyfriend and
your parents will feel better knowing
you aren't being sneaky. Get it over
with. :)

boyfriend, not you, to tell
her to knock it off.
I say this because she knows
she is getting to you and she
gets off on the drama. You
do your best to ignore her.
Have the boyfriend tell her
to stop.
If she continues, and she just
might, Both of you ignore her.
Don't talk to her, don't look
at or acknowledge her in any way.
A couple of days of it and she
will go pester someone else. :)

I am a 15 year old female and I'm a sophomore in high school. I'm not one of the "popular" girls, but everyone in my grade knows me. Anyways, I've always jokingly been called bipolar, but never taken it seriously. Lately, I've been having extreme mood swings and I've ultimately lost all of my friends because of them and also because of how irritable I get. My mom is bipolar, so it makes me wonder if I somehow got it too. I've asked my mom to switch schools multiple times, but she won't ever take me seriously and thinks I'm "fine". It seems like my only other options are to get medicated or commit suicide. I've been having suicidal thoughts for about a week now, and I'm scared I'm going to follow through with them. What do I do? If I tell my mom, she won't even take me seriously. Help. (link)

You really need to get some help if you
are having suicidal thoughts. Talk to
any adult who will listen until someone
takes you seriously and gets you some help.
Talk to your dad, grandma, aunt, uncle
teacher, minister whoever will listen.
Someone will. Don't give up trying to
get help. Knowing you need it is a very
good start.

Ive been dieting and exercising for almost 4 years now and At first i lost alot of weight,maybe around 40 pounds.
My body became pretty immune to it and i slowly gained alot of weight back,but ofcourse i grew alot of inches so i don't necassarily look "fat" but i am a tad chubby.
I wanted to know if anyone has ever tried and used nutrisystem and if it works?
I do exercise every single day,i just have a portion control problem and i eat alot so i think that if i have set portions ,i'll eat less.

I recently found a small, brown mole on my stomach. It's not yellowish or weird-looking, it looks like a regular mole and it's very tiny, however i've never had it before or seen it before so I was just wondering if I should go check it out or if I'm just paranoid. Thanks! (link)

You've probably had it, you just didn't notice it
for whatever reason. Most moles show up in the
teens so it is possible it just appeared. Most
moles are harmless and most people have 20-60
moles by the time they are adults.
If it gets sore, if it changes shape, then it
is something to worry about. If it really
worries you, talking to your doctor is never
a bad idea. It will ease your mind to know
it isn't a big deal. I really don't think
you have anything to worry about. :)

Condoms break all the time. Please
be careful yourself. 14 is way to
young to have that responsibility.
Call her, use the internet to communicate
if you can. Just communicate with her.
You can't do much at your age if your
mom just strictly forbids your seeing her.
There are those other ways to keep in
touch though. Use them. Let her talk to
you about what she is going through. Be
a good listener. :)

babies come from the same place I have
to say most guys aren't to big to fit.
Its possible that it would be very
uncomfortable I suppose. But the vagina
is very good at stretching to accommodate.
Some ladies may have a problem and
