Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. What are some ways to make money? Im only 14. And I have 2 ways so far, baby sitting and team read. You get paid for reading to elementary kids. What are some jobs for 15 year olds though? ( Im tunring 15 in 2 months ) thanks.

sweeping hair at a hair salon. Taking kids trick-or-treating, raking leaves, shoveling snow, odd jobs. Grocery store, malls. Thats about all I can think of. Where I live (NC) You can get a workers permit at 15, so you can pretty much work anywhere.

Why do they always delete my questions? They arent for any of the normal reasons like everyone asks them or grammar, or too long or anything.

ok my hair has bin really really fruzzy latly and i dont no how too make it stop i go new shampoo that is supposot too help but it doesnt HELP?!?!

Herbal Essence, and Pantine pro-v are shampoos that I use. Um, I also sometimes use Suave. If none of those work for you, try washing, blow drying, then straightening your hair.
Sorry if it doesn't work for you, I'm just letting you know what works for me.

There is this person on here that keeps harassing me beacause of my user name. I've explained to him/her that it's just a username but s/he mail me again to antoganize more. THis is an advice collumn and I'm getting mails in my inbox every day from the same person who never leaves his/her name. I'm getting annoyed, whoever it is they are not asking for advice. What should I do?

Let MFS or advice_admin know, they'll let you know if it's a big deal or not, and if they try hard enough, then they can probably figure out who it is. Ask that person if they find your username offensive. If so, get a new one. It's nothing to worry about, this site gets a lot of jerks and queers on this site, you have to learn to ignore them, if you don't ignore them, then they will torment you more and more. Don't reply to the 'questions' just delete them.

My hair is really long..and very very thick..I have trouble straightening it myself..but whenever anyone else straightens it for me it turns out beautiful..Does anyone have any good tips to help me get my hair super straight and look good..and does anyone know any good products to use?

My friends are the same way. What we use is an iron. If you use a towel, then you probably won't burn yourself. Just lay a towel around your neck, and on the ironing board, or whatever you use. Then iron your hair sortf of like what you would do for clothes. Cheap, and it works wonders! Or you can get those expensive straighteners. We had a cheap conair one, and it sucked, but then my sister went out and bought one of those $50 straighteners, and it works pretty well. I say go for the iron, and be careful. Also, the iron might hurt your hair, so maybe go to a salon and get gel or moisterizing stuff for it. Head over to your nearest salon, and ask them for advice on what to use to make your hair stay healthy.

I'm doing Varsity Cheerleading, and I was just wondering if anyone has any good ideas for hair styles besides the regular pony tail, or bun..for games, and for competitions..I'd like to do something really different for the games this year to draw more attention to myself..Maybe some cute new makeup ideas would be good too..thanks alot cuties*

well for hair, you can always do pig tails with pontytail holders, and then tie ribbons around it. Or you can braid your hair. For makeup, just mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, powder, and a some blush that matches your skin color, so it doesn't stand out much, and then maybe some lip gloss. You don't have to have all those makeup items on, just naming some. Make the eyeshadow (if you wear it) go with the cheerleading uniform. Or with school colors (usually the same.) Hope this helps some. 3 of my best friends are cheerleaders, so I'm just telling you stuff they've done. The pig tails are REALLY cute, especially with ribbons that are school colors dangling from them!!

What do I do when my anger is so built up that I feel I could hurt my friends with the pain of it all?

I think writing, or listneing to music are good ways to soothe the soul. I'm one of those people that keeps everything inside, and I went towards cutting. Don't do that! Right now I've spoken with a teacher quite a few times. She doesn't bring it up in class, we just e-mail back and forth. Then I went to guidence. And what I hate most is they called home. So truly if you go to guidance or something, they might inform your parents of 'anger issues' which you might have. Take up a sport such as football, soccer, basketball, hockey... Yes, you can do those even if you are a girl, I promise.

Just try your hardest to work things out, and stay happy. Unless you aren't happy. Just let your friends know that you are having a bad day, and not to bug you, or just to leave you alone. But say it in a polite way.

Sorry this isn't much help, but it's really all I can do.

My neighbor not really a friend, but not an enemy, an aquantaince!! *Dev* has been cutting herself...and she always writes these horrid, absolutely, horrid, gruesome, poems about killing herself!! It really scares me because I've seen her cuts! And I have told her to get help, but she won't listen. Today at school she said she was gunna cut herself deep and not stop the bleeding so she can bleed to DEATH!! Or take a bottle of pills, or some other self-mutalating way to kill herself!! I'm really scared I've known her since I was in diapers..is there anyway I can stop her before it's too late?? Sorry about length!!

Okay, find somebody YOU AND HER really trust, and talk to that person. I'm a cutter, and I've been talking to my second period teacher, and she's been a lot of help. YOU AND HER need to go to a councilor, and if she's really considering killing herself (I could never go that far) then you need to tell her parents. I mean, how would you feel if you knew about her cutting, you did nothing to help, and she ends up passing away. Horrible right? Talk to somebody you can trust, and if you don't think your friend can trust that person, then go with your friend to talk to somebody she can trust (or if she wants to go alone, wait outside the door for her... unless you have to go to class.) But make sure she talks at least once.

There could be a few explinations.

If she's not your best friend in the world, and she's better friends with your worst enemy, then of course that's who she's going to stick up for.

If she thinks your worst enemey was right, and you were wrong, then that could happen too.

If it was her time of month, she could've been in a real pissy mood...

If she felt bad for your worst enemy, then that could be a solution.

She could be using you for something, and maybe isn't your real friend.

Talk to her, and ask her whats up. If it's a guy friend, then forget the time of month, and I think all the others could apply to guys also

When i was really little, i was raped by my cousin, someone i thought i could trust. i can no longer trust people anymore, it is very hard for me. What do you think i can do to help me cope with this and how can i explain this to my friends, who always want to know why im such a cold, hard shell of a person?

Talk to a trusted teacher or councilor. And hey, that whole confidentiality thing is a load of bull. I was in guidence today, trying to talk to a councilor, and they called home. Your best bet is to send anonymous e-mails to a trusted teacher and ask them for some help. Thats what I was doing, and I got the help I needed. Truly, talking it out is the best way. Tell your friends you have something really serious to tell them, and then spill. If they are truly your friends they will listen, and be totally shocked! It'll get better. I'm so sorry for what happened. I mean out of all the people in the world, your cousin. Thats a disgusting thing, and it is in NO way your fault. You have a sick pervert for a cousin, and he should go screw his mother, that's probably the only person that would have him. Hope you can get over this horrid thing, and that your jerk of a cousin is put in jail. Good luck with everything!

I am taking mid terms tomorrow. (I know it's early for mid terms but my school does a different schedule.) I have Theatre Arts first period and 20% of our grade for the exam is a performance. My teacher has given me a script to memorize with a partner, it's basically a conversation. It's very short but I'm so nervous about my other tests I can't think straight and I can't memorize this! I've been able to memorize a 2 page monologue in the past and I don't understand why I can't memorize 16 stupid lines. Does anyone have any tips on ways to memorize my lines? I've already tried reading them. Yeah... it's not working. Thanks if you can help!

I'm in sort of the same position. I've been in a play before, with more lines than the skit I have to perform with a partner on Wednesday. When you really think about it, or get nervous, it gets a lot harder. Just meet up with your partner (mine is like one of my best friends) and practice. Just try to read them different ways. Try to make a song for the lines. We had to memorize a poem "Flanders Fields" In 8th grade. Just memorize it line by line. Once you get a paragraph down with no trouble, work on the next 5 lines, and then work until you have those memorized, and read over all the lines you've memorized, and then memorize them totally together. Then keep going like that. I thought theatre would be VERY easy, but it's been getting tougher. Luck for me, we don't get to do REAL LONG plays until theatre 3 which is like junior and seniors. So I have quite a while before I have to really memorize. Good luck on the midterm.

what is a good black eyeliner? im useing mac right now and in school im in swim class and even when im not wet it seems 2 run down my face.. Does ne one know a good black eyeliner that does not run when i get wet or ne thing.. THANKS

ummm, avon, mary-kay, maybelline... Maybe it's maybelline. Sorry, I love that commercial. Those work pretty good. Just find some that is water proof. I usually get expensive stuff, so I'm not going to give you everything I use. But I do like the maybelline.

ok i just got home, its halloween, sucks im in so early right? well ok my cheeks hurts, my friends and i went out, there were like 13 of us and we're just goofing off, having fun, being normal teens on halloween, egging... and some van pulls up and stops in the middle of the street, there were like a LOT of gangbangers in there and they started shotting.. i thought it was eggs and stuff and we didn't know they were aiming at us, i mean we dont even know who the fuck they were, and my friends are all dodging and i am to but im a lil slow, and i got hit and they run off. i touch my cheek and its HUGE ... and green, then i find out that i got hit by a paintball, so i put on soo much ice, i don't want my parents to see it cause they'll start bitching, and well i put cover up on when i got home. i dont want people starting roomers at school, and i need some explanations i could use. we came up with i popped a pimple, lol, i scratched my self, something bit me, ... and i need something better. its not too big but its noticeable. does anyone have any ideas i can use to get rid of it faster and what cover up is good? thanks a bunch!

um, I was hit by a paintball. I was cutting through somewhere, and as I was climbing under the fence, a dirt truck was drving by, and a rock flew up and hit me in the face. I'm sorry they aren't that good, but they're all I could come up with. Hope it's not too late.

Okay, if you are a girl, then he should be the one leading, so just do what he does, and get the roof of his mouth, guys like that. If you're a guy, then your supposed to lead, so I don't know how to help you. Ask shannon, she has experience!

I dont have my drivers license yet so what do I do to get one?

This is where I live in North Carolina
If you are 18 or older then you don't need your permit, so then you just go to the DMV to sign up for a class. If you are under 18, or still in high school, then sign up for drivers education... you need it or you can't get your permit, then can't get your license until you're over 18. Then if you pass drivers education, you get a certain paper from the guidence, and go to the DMV, and they will let you try for your permit, or give you your permit, something like that. Then once you get a permit, you have to wait exactly one year before you can get your until 9 license. So you go back to the DMV one year after you get your permit (or longer if you want) then you get your until 9 license, and you won't be able to drive after 9. You have to pass another test for that. Then 6-7 months later, you're allowed to go back to the DMV for your after 9 license, which means you can drive any time of day or night you want. So when you get to the DMV, you take a test, and if you pass you get your after nine license. Then it'll have an experation date on your license, and when that date is up, you go back to the DMV and get your after nine license renewed. Hope I helped! Oh yes, I forgot to mention, here, you have to be 14 and a half to take drivers education, but 15 to actually get your permit

I know where I used to live in New York, you couldn't get your permit until 16, nad license at 17, but that might have changed.

Im tall like not gigantic but im bout 5 6' and im 14 and im not even 100 pounds i dont have an eating disorder i just have always been really skinny cuz i have a good metabolism. How can I gain weight so people will stop making fun of me and i'll feel better about myself?

This might sound weird, but EXCERCISE. It helps you gain weight it a healthy way. Let me break it down

Excercise = muscle tone up
muscle ways more than fat
If you're thin, and you want to gain, and get a good healthy body, get muscles so you will be closer to a healthy weight. It's a wonderful thing to have a fast metabolism. I have to really work on my weight. I'm 14 in about a week, and I weigh 110. But I'm only like 5 foot or 5'1.

well.. i'm in 8th grade. i feel way too old to go out trick or treating, but i have nothing else to do!! plus, nobody is going with me. should i just go for my last time, or skip it?? when did everyone else stop??

I went for the last time in 8th grade. I'm not going this year, I figure 13 is too old. Right now I'm 13, and I won't be 14 until a week from sunday, so in 8th grade I was 12 on Halloween. But truly, if I wasn't going to a party, then a bunch of my friends from all over are coming to my neighborhood, (one of the biggest in the district) and are trick - or - treating. As long as you don't look too old. Like if I was handing out candy, and somebody that looked too old came by, I wouldn't give them any. So what do YOU think¿?

Yes most likely it'll get bigger. And it might matter to some girls, but to me it doesn't. And girls might sound mean and/or joke around, but usually we don't care.
