Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. Hey! Ok, I'm an 8th grade girl and I like a 7th grade guy. He's really nice and funny and he asked me out today and I said yes. Is it like "bad" for me to be "Dating Down"?

Of course not! I when I was your age, I had a crush on my 7th grade neighbor. Nothing wrong with it. If people give you a hard time, be like atleast I have a boyfriend (well if they're single.) But seriously, at first you might get talked about between your friends, but after a few days it'll be old news. I don't consider it bad.

How do you know when your in love?

Whenever your heart beats faster and slower at the same time. You will know. We can't really tell you. You will feel it in your heart. It's a wonderful floaty feeling. It's a wonderful type of high without the drugs. You'll know, I promise!

I want to get rid of the hair on my upper lip. I don't want to get it professionally done, I want to do it myself. What should I try to remove it (I don't want to use a razor).

Wax it. By the wax and the paper. It'll probably hurt more since you aren't doing it professionally. But DON'T EVER EVER EVER use a razor. Unless you are a guy, then it won't really matter. But WAX! It's the best way to get rid of almost any unwanted hair.

Hmmm, not to sound rude, but lets think here, it means he wants you to call him. Call him, and be like, guess what number I found in my phone... then stuff like so whats up with you... and all that. I'm sure you know how to flirt...?

hey.. my parents r super protective like they wont let me "date" 1 on 1 till im 16 and they have to meet him and all that crap..althou im dating now and its really hard to go out w. him kas i need to have my friends go w. me so my parents dont explode.. what can i do so i can go out w. him but not get in trouble.?

That is so how my parents are. I didn't tell them I had a boyfriend until we were dating for about 7 months, and by then my parents were like, well that was irresponsible of you not to tell us. So you are going to have to sit and talk with them. Parents don't understand that we children are maturing. I've just turned 14 today, and my parents are like oh no, my daughter will now be into makeup, and all that. I've been wearing makeup since I was 11, and a few times back in 2nd grade (for talent shows) It's crazy. All you can do is talk to them. If not, meet some friends at the mall with him, tell your mom to pick you up around an hour after your friends leave, that way you and your boyfriend can have an hour together. I mean, technically you're still with your friends, so it's not like you are lying. DON'T SNEAK AROUND. You WILL get caught, and then your parents will have proved that you are irresponsible, which probably isn't true.

I pull out pieces of my hair when i get stressed out angry or bored...i dont know why i do this i guess because i need some way to show my feelings...and i couldn't ever cut myself... i dont know what to do or why i do this... can someone help me!?

2 words. Stress ball. Well, more than two words. I love stress balls. I used to cut, and I'm trying to stop now. I talk to my fave teacher about it, and she helps. But all you're doing is pulling out hair, not as bad. Before you get upset, or as you start to get upset, put a ponytail holder on your wrist, or a rubberband, and when you are angry, pull it. The more angry/bored/stressed you are, the higher you pull it. Or the stress ball. Those squishy balls that are fun to squeeze, especially when you are stressed. I'm glad you don't cut. It's a bad option, and you should never do it. But hair pulling can be bad, it would really suck if you pulled out all your hair.(haha, I don't think that's possible.) Just think of the kids with lukeimia( I don't know how to spell it) I say that because, they don't have hair to pull. (I hope you know I'm kidding... unless for some odd reason that helpes, then I find you a strange strange person hahaha)

How do u know u are really ready for a boyfriend?

You feel it. If you feel you like a guy, and not just horomones talking, you actually feel mature enought to handle a relationship, then you're ready to date. If you think you are emotionally stable, then go for it, and ask a guy out. Or let the guy ask you out. Relationships are hard work, even just a simple one. If you meant casual dating, then that's easier, you and a guy just go to a movie. But when you say boyfriend, you are committed to a guy. And you have 1 month, 2 month...6month...1year... anniversarries, and you date, and you date him and only him. You have to be ready to handle it.

Yeah, I know I'm making it sound hard, when really it isn't the easiest thing in the world, but when I say emotionally ready, it means ready enough whereas you know it won't work for a long long time, and you are prepared how hurt you will be when you break up.
I know you're reading this and are like What in the world? but truly, when you feel like you're ready, and you think you like a guy, then go for it. That's when you're ready for a boyfriend. So we can't answer that question, you have to answer it yourself.

okay...all my friends tell me that i'm turning punk little by little...and most of my friends are punk. i listen to punk and am starting to dress punk too. if i totally change my style over christmas break do u think that the people in my school will call me a poser? i'm 13/f in 8th grade. thx...*changing*

Yeah, I've always liked the clothes my friends dress in, most of them are punk, and a few of them are all the way goth, but I don't really like all the music (most yes, all NO) They told me that it might seem like you are becoming a poser, but learn all you can about the music, and the style, and then they'll realize you are serious about it. Like my friend knows almost everything about FATA, AC/DC, Avenged Sevenfold, Pink Floyd ( I love them)
But at first, you'll probably get called a poser, then after a while, it won't matter anymore. Don't totally change your whole style by then if you don't want to be called poser. If you truly like the stuff, it won't matter what people think, riiiiight? If you don't want to be called poser or anything, just listen to the music, and wear some of the stuff. Then by next year(school year), or summmer, or Easter break, it'll be allright, and most likely you won't be called poser. A lot of people dress punk at my high school, but only half of 3/4ths of those people are really truly punk.

Well, I've tried both, I'm not an expert, but when I was at a friends house, she was teaching me, and I think bass is easier, but I'm no pro, so I don't really know if electric guitar gets easier or not. But for first starting out, and the way my friend Emily was trying to teach me, bass is easier. I guess it all depends on your talents though.

i really like this guy, i'll call "dan". he's 15 years old and i'm 17. we both like each other and want to possibly go out, but the age difference is really bothering me. is 2 years apart in high school too much?

It might be awkward at first, but my boyfriend is 16, and I'm turning 14 tomorrow. I don't see the problem. Or do you mean because you're the one thats older? If thats what you mean by it, then it will be sort of strange to say that you're going out with a younger guy, but after a while it won't matter. Last night I was on MSN talking to one of my friends (tom) and my boyfriend (Jon) while they were at Jon's house. Tom asked me what I would do if Jon broke up with me so I asked if he was and Tom said maybe. Later on I asked again and Jon said he wasn't. This morning I asked my other friend (who is Jon's friend) if Jon was going to break up with me and he said yes. I tried texting Jon last night asking about it but he hasn't replied. I don't know what to think. Dan and Tom try to break me and him up alot and I don't know whether this is just another attempt.

Sit down with Jon, talk to him. Tell him Tom, and that other friend were saying things to you. Tell him that you are concerned, and was wondering if he's going to break up with you.

We have no information on if you've dated in the past, or how much you like each other. I love quotes like that, and I find a lot of quotes I hear true, but this is the one quote that you can't be positive of. It depends on how much you liked each other. We can't answer that, you have to answer it yourself.

im 13 and im scared to wear a tampon what should i do...Im getting self concious

1st, don't be scared. Second, there are pads. I'd rather wear a tampon, but, if you choose pad, be glad, pads can come deoderized, I don't think you can get good smelling tampons. Haha, well if you want, have somebody teach you how to properly use the tampon. If you're scared to use one because you don't know how, have somebody teach you, if you're scared because you think it might hurt, or because you don't feel comfortable sticking something in your vagina, then it doesn't hurt if it's in properly, but you have the option of pads... not something I prefer, but I have worn them.

Why would you want to pretend to be somebody. Do you mean like chat sites, so people won't know who you really are? If that's what you mean, then www.preteenchat.com (it's for all ages.) Or www.teenchat.com or www.chat.com

They've worked for me in the past, but I haven't been on them since like 6th grade.

You brush your teeth. Then you place the white strips on. After the amount of designated time to use them, you take them off. Then of course you brush! Simply, brush before and after you place them on, otherwise they won't work the way they're supposed to, or atleast they won't help as much.

And when I say brush, I mean if you use them in the morning or something. Unless you use them over an hour before bed, because you should wait an hour or longer before brushing them again.

It should come with instructions, read them and see what it says.

because somehow you typed in the the username incorrectly, retype it, and make sure that it's the one you are actually looking for. You have to be exact when it comes to spelling, capitilization, and spaces.

hey i was wondering if anyone here watches one tree hill? i love that show. does anyone know where i can get make up tips/hair tips so i can look like brooke or peyton or haley. i want to act like them, dress like them, make up, hair. any tips would be greatly apreciated. thanks, ill give you all 5's.

I can help you with the clothes ( My sister is obsessed with that show, and I like it) Hollister, Aripostle, American Eagle, and other stores like that. For hair, use Frizz-ease, that stuff it AWESOME! Makeup, I think they have a special brand, if not then sorry.
