Q: I just ordered my Halloween costume, & it laces up the front & back. You can see it here: http://www.buycostumes.com/Late-Night-Nurse-Adult-Costume/61080/ProductDetail.aspx.

What kind of bra could I wear with this? I don't want anything that will be too noticeable through the laces, & my boobs aren't too big, I'd just like a little bit of support.

They're backless, with only a tiny front closure and no straps. They're also reusable!

Q: I am looking for a dating site for adults over 21 to about 35 or so that is reliable and not riddled with sex addicts. I'm so sick of signing up for online dating sites and getting messages about sex over and over. When did dating become soley about sex anyway? I do not give out personal information but wouldn't mind having to pay if the site was decent. Does anyone have some decent suggestions?

The big one is eHarmony, of course. I know several couples who have met through eHarmony, and they are still together 5+years later.
I haven't used it, but my one friend said that the big eHarmony negative is that they give you results from really far away sometimes, even if you request nearby people.

Another one, if you're looking for a low-risk one, is plentyoffish. I have several friends on there, and they're having a great time. It's free, so that's always a plus; no success, no loss.

Q: I'm a senior in high school and over the years I've had to suffer, and still more than ever, really, really bad jealousy. And I don't mean I'm jealous over people in my grade being prettier than me or getting guys, but I mean being jealous of people being smarter and better at stuff than i am. I am pretty smart, i work really hard, and do well in school and everything else I do, but there are always handfuls of people who are way better than me. I mean, I know it's almost impossible to be the best at everything but I can't help but be really, really jealous. I'm really good at music but there are so many people who I'm jealous of because they're better than me. I'm also so jealous of the kids in my class who are smart enough to apply to mit, yale, cornell, harvard, upenn, etc. What kills me is when people are amazing at music AND really smart. But my question is, does this high school competitiveness tone down once college starts (i'm not going to an ivy league)? Is college less like high school, where everyone is interested in each others' grades and where everyone is always trying to surpass each other? I really want to be able to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks.

It all depends on what you're going for.
I'm in engineering, and the environment is very anti-competitive. It's a very collaborative environment. Everyone helps each other out.

Something like pre-med or pre-law, however, may be extremely competitive. Limited med school spaces mean that a whole lot of applicants need to compete for the highest grades.

Q: My lips are already chapped from the wind and cool weather and I absolutely hate it. It sucks to have hurting lips and I know my boyfriend hates to kiss me because they are scratchy to him too. What is the best chapstick? I looooove Burt's Bees. It's got a bit of a weird waxy texture, but that keeps you from licking it off by accident.
Stay away from really yummy chapstick. If you lick it off, you can actually end up drying your lips out more!

Try using a toothbrush to exfoliate your lips as well. Keeps them nice and soft.

Q: I'm going to a concert to see one of my favorite bands with my best friend but I have no idea what I should wear! Torn jeans? A band shirt? I know we'll be dancing and jumping around a lot though and my friend might even try to do a mosh pit because she's really crazy like that haha

Should I do my hair? If so, what style would be best for this? I don't want to look stupid by the end of the night. Should I do my make-up? I guess if I do my make-up I should do it like the nighttime clubbing style, right? I don't think I can really take a purse with me with my make-up so whatever I do, I won't be able to touch-up during the concert. Any help, please?

What to wear: Jeans and a shirt that covers you. You don't want to be tugging at your clothes the whole time! If you have a shirt for that band, now is the time to wear it. Running shoes are a must, especially if you'll be moshing.
Hair: Something that won't require any thought or effort. Kind of a do-it-and-leave-it thing. I'd suggest leaving it down, personally.

Makeup: Minimal. It'll be pretty dark and hot. You'll end up sweating, so any foundation or blush will end up looking weird. Go for a little eyeliner and mascara with lip gloss. That way you're not worrying about your makeup smudging, and you can focus on having a good time!

 Have fun!

Q: My little nephew is the cutest thing ever. He's really adorable. His mom has been buying him baby dolls to play with though and I don't know if that is right. I don't want to say anything if it's okay for boys to play with dolls but I keep thinking that the dolls are more of a little girl toy, you know? Aren't boys suppose to play with cars and stuff? I just don't want him to grow up and be teased and stuff for having dolls, you know? What do you think?

I'm personally not a big fan of pigeonholing kids into gender roles.
As a little girl, I had no interest in dolls. I was scared of baby dolls, and I had much more interest in my chemistry set, Ninja Turtle action figures, and Matchbox cars.

Did I grow up strangely because of it? I'm a pretty normal girl. My sexuality wasn't affected by my choice in toys. I had friends, and was accepted by my peers (although I always got along better with boys than girls)

My opinion is that he can play with whatever he wants. Toys are about stimulating the imagination; if he likes to pretend with baby dolls, it won't do any real harm. He'll probably end up being really popular with the ladies, though!

	Q: I'm just curious.
All my life every time I eat ice cream, eat cereal, drink a shake or a smoothie, I ALWAYS start coughing and clearling my throat multiple times for like fifteen minutes after.
All of these things have dairy in them.
So I'm thinking I might be a little bit allergic?

I get link a pinching in my throat that makes me need to cough or clear my throat. It;s not like a break out in hives or my throat puffs up so I can;t breath.
So if I am allergic, it's extremely minor enough that I can still consume dairy products.

But like I said, I'm just curious, do you think I'm allergic?

Q: 19, female. i'm not going to beat around the bush; i am sexually frustrated!! the ONLY guy i feel comfortable being sexual with, i dont know if he feels the same! he's always giving me mixed signals and i'm definately not the girl to be like... "do you want to have sex already?!" haha. here are some signs he wants to sexually be with me:

1. MULTIPLE times he's randomly texted me saying "wanna fuck" and i'm always like yahh! but NOTHING ever happens, i only saw him once after he texted me and said it and nothing happened. the last time he texted me saying this was probably a month ago, maybe a little longer:(

2. my friend bought these mints at the sex store thats suppose to basically numb your mouth so you can give a guy a bj without gagging. well he is always like come on linds, lets try it! and i'm not really into the whole bj thing, so i just laugh it off and am like naaah.

3. he's tried fingering me before; although the last time he tried that was basically over 6 months ago because i always turned him down because i just wasn't that into it at the time, and it didn't feel right.

4. we've gone streaking before, just me and him. it wasnt really even streaking haha we just both took our clothes off not knowing what to do next but he makes me feel so comfortable with my body. then one of my friends took my clothes and ran with them so i was stuck with only my bra and underwear, and i asked if i could wear his shirt and he was like no! and i was sad, but i didnt know if he just didnt want me to wear it or he wanted to see me with pratically no clothes on haha. then he like picked me up and threw me over his shoulders. and we were sitting in the yard, he was fully clothed at this point and i just had my bra and thong on and i sat in his lap and it was sooo cute.

everytime i see him, i just want to jump on him. he makes me feel like that. but we are also close friends, so i dont really want to be too aggressive if he doesnt feel the same way. how can i just start becoming affectionate towards him, i already kinda am but i want him to know i WANT him. he should already know by the way i act towards him and everytime he texted me asking if i wanted to have sex, i'd say yeah. its just so confusing! & i'm DEFF. not into the whole masturbation thing. i'd rather be pleasured by a guy ha.

I'm not quite sure how to put this without offending you, but here goes.
You're being a little... forward? You're giving it up too easily. He's testing you by doing these little things, to gauge your response. You've been a little overeager to please.

If you're so willing to do sexual things for this guy at the drop of a hat (from his perspective, of course), you likely have done so for other guys. Guys don't mind fooling around with *cough* experienced girls, but they often don't want to have sex with them. The whole cleanliness issue.

To put it bluntly, he may think you're a bit loose. If you give him everything he asks for right away, he's going to think you're easy. In short, he doesn't respect you sexually.

Try withholding a little bit. Make him want you. Make him work a little. Don't give it up all at once, and he'll want it more.

Q: Is it normal for an 18 year old guy to be thinking about marriage and kids? My boyfriend and I have been dating for 8 months and at the begining of the relationship he knew he wanted to get married and maybe have some kids but he never put much thought into it and now suddenly this week he's been asking how I would want to be proposed to in the future and kids and what our house would look like. I didn't know teenage guys thought about this. I know we wouldn't get married for years but I love knowing how committed he is. Any other guys like this?

If you guys are planning on a long engagement (and I'm talking like 5-6 years), you are definitely not too young!
What you want to be careful about is getting married before you guys have settled into your adult selves. You're both going to change an awful lot over the next few years, and you need to be sure that you can handle those changes in each other.

My fiance proposed to me when I was 19 and he was 20. He had bought the ring after 8 months of dating, and proposed to me after 11 months. People thought we were crazy, and that it wouldn't last. 3 years later, we've bought a house together, and we're still going strong! We're just waiting until we have the money to actually get married.

Some guys are just different from your usual horny teenager. My fiance, for instance, was actually looking for a committed relationship and had no interest in sowing his wild oats.

Q: There is this girl at school and she hates me. I have no idea why because she hated me since middle school. I'm 15. She keeps asking me why I am staring at her and when i try to answer, she says to shut up and says not to talk to her. Everyone else in her posse laughs. I even lost a friend to her. The rumor that she (the bully) spread to get my friend on her side was saying that I love her boyfriend and he hates me when, in fact, it's the opposite. One more thing, I am trying to ignore her. A couple of days ago, I was just coming out of the cafeteria when she said, "What the f*** are YOU looking at?" I didn't even look her way. Dad said to ignore and if it continues to go to the vice principal but that rarely works. Any advice would be helpful...THANKS!!!

People are bullied because they allow themselves to be. I should know... I had a female bully for about 10 years. The problem with most schools is that they have a zero-tolerance policy... for violence. Emotional abuse is usually ignored.
What you need to do is stand up for yourself. Who is she to make you feel bad? Chances are, she's not all that bright. Bullies are insecure at heart, that's why they do what they do.

Ignoring doesn't work with this type. They do what they do for attention. If you ignore her, she'll escalate until she gets a reaction.

Next time she asks what you're looking at, say something like "not much" in a sarcastic voice. Get insulting back.

All it takes is to show her that you're not willing to be an easy victim. Stick up for yourself. Get your friends to help out.

Just remind yourself; you don't deserve to be treated like that.

Q: I am 18/f and I just recently lost my bladder control. I have never really had this issue before, but I find that I wet myself almost every day. When I laugh, or when I realize I have to go I barely get to the bathroom in time. This is so embarassing and horrible, I like to go out with my friends but I couldn't handle it if I go caught (I might have already and I am mortified). What can I do? You may have a urinary tract infection. If that's the case, it is really important to see a doctor, since they can spread into your kidneys and cause serious issues if left untreated.
Otherwise, you may just have an overactive bladder. Avoid caffeine and alcohol.

In the meantime, you can always try those Poise pad-things. They're not quite as bulky as diapers, so they'd stay hidden, but they'd also catch any spills.

I'm not American, so I couldn't vote, but if I had it would have been for Obama.
I'm a white female, so my demographic doesn't come into play.

Something I've never understood is the standard Republican. Lower-middle to upper-middle class, getting by okay but not filthy rich... yet they vote for people who give money to the rich. Tax breaks for the top 1% of society, raising taxes for the middle class. They aren't out for your best interests. They're out for the best interests of the rich (because that's generally where they lie on the scale).

Fiscally, what Obama stands for is helping the rest. Rather than pumping all your tax dollars into shiny new jets and tax breaks for big companies, he's trying to put a little into health care. And there's an uproar about this?

What you need to do is think of his proposed healthcare system as an insurance policy that nobody can turn you down from. You guys spend more per person per year on health care than we do, and we have fully covered health care! If you were to stop having this insurance BS, and start putting that money into public health care, everyone would benefit (except maybe for the very rich).

Instead of paying an insurance company, you pay the government. When you need to go to the hospital, it's paid for. Period. End of story. No fighting with the insurance company over whether it's a valid claim or not. Does living below the poverty line make you less deserving of the right to live? No! There are plenty of hard-working people who just can't afford health insurance, or who can't get it because of pre-existing conditions. They would be provided for, as would you in case of emergency.

No more families going bankrupt because dad gets cancer. Nobody dying from easily treated diseases because of inability to pay for health care. You guys are all about your fellow man... why not help him out?

As for his other policies... he's managed to pull you guys out of a war that was started for no reason other than pushiness and put you in where you belong... in Afghanistan. That war was dragging on and on and getting nowhere, and no other countries agreed with it. Meanwhile, everyone else has been stuck fighting the Taliban because of their attack on you. He's trying to end this thing so that your great-great-grandchildren aren't still paying for it.

He's also a social liberal. Isn't that one of your things... "with liberty and justice for all"? I don't see a whole lot of liberty. Two men or women who are deeply in love and want to make a lifetime commitment to one another can't do so. They can't adopt a child and give it a nurturing, loving home. You have politicians trying to take away womens' right to abortions. You have abstinence-only sex ed programs. A lot of people don't like these things.

He believes that your country needs change. And you know what? So do a lot of your fellow countrymen. Your country has been going consistently down the tubes for the last 8 years, and people have hope that with Obama, there will be change. Race isn't the issue here. Sure, it's exciting to have your first black president. It would be equally exciting (if not moreso) if you had your first female president!

Oh,and another point... that Sarah Palin was a doofus. She was an airhead. Even Republicans didn't like her. McCain is a pretty old guy with a bad health record. If he keeled over, guess who would have taken his place? *shudder* There would have been a mass exodus to Canada if that were the case.

Q: Can you be on the BC pill, BC shot, and use a condom all at once?

I know you can be on the pill and condom, but I'm not sure about the shot, pill, and condom.

Also, what do you think the chances of pregnancy are with all three of these birth control methods?

     | | | |
     | |

        |
Because the pill and the shot alter your body's chemistry, they could interact in a harmful way.
My suggestion would be to use the shot and condoms, based on personal experience.

The shot has a higher prevention rate(97-99.7% vs. 92-99.7%) , since it's much easier to use. Just once, and you forget about it for three months. The pill is kind of temperamental that way... if you forget to take it, or take it at the wrong time, or if you throw up, things are messed up. Also, the shot keeps you from having periods, which is pretty fantastic in my book!

Condoms on their own have an 85-98% success rate. This is because so much can go wrong with them on their own.

Thing is, when using both methods, there is a very, very slim chance of getting pregnant. Like, maybe ).01% chance. Both methods would have to fail at exactly the same time.

The decision to have sex should be made based on being ready for it, and being in love with the person. If you're asking us, you're not sure, and so you're not ready.

Just keep in mind; the real expenses of car ownership are much worse than the cost of purchasing it.
My fiance and I just bought a car from my parents for $3000... it was a fantastic deal, in perfect condition.

Depending on what age you are and what your driving record is, your insurance will be a huge cost. My fiance is 23 with 6 years of driving experience and a clean record. His insurance costs him $2200 per year... and that's a steal. The average quote we got was $3400 per year.

Gas and maintenance will cost you, too. Factor in at least $100 per month in gas, which isn't too bad. If you get a really cheap car, it may have problems with it. In that case, it can cost you way more in maintenance than you will save by buying a cheap car.

My suggestion; get an extra part-time job to save up for a good car. You'll need the extra money, too, to deal with the costs of running and owning it.

I take it you mean sex ed sites to help her answer questions about sex, rather than instructions on how to do it? If she's old enough to be asking questions, she's old enough to learn the answers, for sure.
http://www.sexetc.org/ is a great website written by teens, for teens.

http://www.scarleteen.com/ is also a pretty good website.

These sites aren't too graphic, but not too clinical either. Sort of real-world advice.

I just watched this one a little while ago :)
She was eating his organs because she had porphyria. It's like a real life vampirism. It's a deficiency in the blood that (supposedly) makes one crave human blood. She took the organs that are the most rich in blood; liver, etc.

Q: I have to do these article analysis things for my AP english class. Basically, we have to get articles from a magazine (at least 5 pages long) and point out certain parts of it and follow this worksheet we get. Problem is, I can't ever find articles long enough, or ones that aren't locked on the internet (that you have to buy). I really like Scientific Mind, but all of their articles are too short. Any idea of where I can get long articles on the computer (at least 5 pages)?

Thanks.

If you like science magazines, how about Scientific American? They usually have longer articles.

Q: Okay well I dont want this to come off as conceited or stuck up in any way because I am not like that.

But I seem to have noticed something about all my relationships that really is bothering me.

I would really like to know how a girl can make her inner beauty shine more than her outer beauty to a guy. In every relationship I have been in, most of the guys seemed to care more about how I looked. And because they liked it, they would always comment on it, and be very focused on it. But I am also a very happy, loving, but nerdy girl. Nerdy as in I enjoy learning, I like debating over issues in the world, I am very culturally aware and I would love it if, for once, a guy would notice these things about me. Which they dont. Whenever I try to have a serious conversation about something in the world, and I am being very serious about it, guys just smile and say that I'm cute, and then they change the subject. It is really aggravating when I am not taken seriously i guess because I am considered attractive...And my question is how can I get guys to see that I am more than just a pretty face, that I have ideas and maybe that i wanna discuss them????

The problem isn't you... the problem is the guys.
You need to seek guys who have interests in common with you, and who respect women who have a minimum of half a brain.

Try joining an extra-curricular activity (like a Model UN, or something similar that interests you). You'll be able to meet guys who have an opportunity to see you as more than a pretty face and who like you for that side of you.

Take a look at the guys you've dated in the past. What they're like, how you met them, etc. Chances are you'll find some things in common. Avoid those things in the future! The only way to break a dating pattern is to change who you're dating.

	 My Personal Forum
My name is Amanda and I'm 26 years old. I'm currently studying electrical engineering. Armed with a fairly odd sense of humour and a sunny outlook on life, I'll take on just about anything. I'm also cussedly stubborn, which has its ups and downs. Things get tough sometimes, and I've never been one to run from it.

In my last 8 years with Advicenators, I've gone from honours student to failing out of university (and getting back on top again!), from single to married, from tenant to homeowner.

Until lately, I have been struggling with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and OCD, which had basically ruined my life and taken just about everything from me. I'm thankful every day for every experience I've had because of this ordeal, because it's helped to make me who I am today. Things like that really make you appreciate what you do have. Now that I'm back in work and school and starting to become myself again, I couldn't be happier. I credit Advicenators with saving my life back when I was a teenager, which is a big part of why I'm still here.

I won't necessarily give you the answers you want to hear, but I'll always be honest and do my best to help.
