Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. in football today i broke a kids neck and he's parylized from the neck down. im fine with it, completly, really i am. i think i was just doing my job. but im not sure how i should act about it. should i just act like i feel bad or somethin?

Are you serious? Somehow I doubt it, but if you are, then wow!
I mean I guess you don't have to be sorry, I'd be freaking sorry though. The parents aren't going to like press charges or anything?! You'd be getting of pretty easily. I guess if you don't feel sorry, well then, you don't feel sorry, I don't like the bit about you pretending to care, you ruin somebodys life and you have no feelings on it?! Well just think how you would feel if you were parylized. Anyway, I think you should apologize or at least visit him if he's still in the hostpital or whatever. I, personally, would feel horrible, obviously you don't, but you should do something to show you're sorry or that you care whether you do or you don't.

My older sister is 15 and she started babysitting when she was my age but my mom won't let me do it evan though I am very responsible. can you give some hint on getting my mom to let me babysit thanks I only ask you because I seen you collom and you gave other good advise to others so thanks.

Oh yes, maybe you can ask your sister how she got your mom to let her start babysitting, or if she did anything to make your mom not want you babysitting, such as bringing a guy over or something.

I'm not sure what to put this under. but on that teen hotline that is on your about your self what can you talk about it and dose it cost money to call them because i need to know soon and I know your back from your trip bevause you took something of of your collom so I hope you get back to me soon. thanks and by.

Well that's for teen talk, so you can talk about well just about anything.

You can talk about sex, about eating disorders, aboust STD's, about having diseases from ADD(ADHD) to diabetes. You can also talk about suicide and all sorts of stuff, it's a TEEN hotline, for teens to discuss their problems and get help.
Honestly I am not sure about how much it costs, if anything. I would assume it's free, but I will try and find out and get back to you. If I don't get back to you by Friday then post something in my inbox saying "Is teen talk free?" just something simple to remind me, because I'll probably forget :-).

hi, what do most girl/women use during their period to sleep? pad or tampon?

When sleeping it's best to use a pad. If you wear a tampon for over 8 hours you have the risk of getting TSS. My sister once wore a tampon to bed, she said it was much harder to get it out the next day.

I know a few people that were pads to bed and sleep on a towel in case of a leak. It could work...

Okay well about 2 weeks ago I was pretty sick like I didn't wanna move or eat all I could drink was water and it was liek a flu and a cold together that lasted for 4 days and then went away. Then I was really great for awhile and then about 2 days ago my cough came back. But I thought nothing of it. Now my head feels really heavy and every time I stand up it feels like it's actually going to explode I'll hold it just becuase it hurts so much. When I move my body liek strech it it hurts after I'm done and my eyes are sort of pink but that might just be from rubbing them. I'm pretty tired but most teenagers through summer are. My ears are more moist i guess you would say liek I find i need to clean them more often. I've tried taking tylonal cuase I thought Ijust had a really bad headache but it did nothing. Anyone ever herd of anything that sounds liek this or had similar experiences? I don't really want to go to the docters unless nesicary becuase my docter is really slow and it takes 3-4 hours to see her and I was just there. So if anyone could give any help I would really apreciate it. Thanks

Honestly, unless there's a doctor as a member on this site, none of the information you will get will be 100% accurate. It could be worst case senerio of the flu, or it could me something much more serious. The only good answer you'll get will be from a doctor. My doctor is slow like that too, she's a great doctor, but it takes her forever to see you. But this IS necessary!!!! You NEED to see a doctor. Do you ever watch those medical shows where people don't think it's too serious and then they wait until it gets worse before seeing a doctor? Well the doctors always say "we could have caught this if you came in earlier". You're better safe than sorry, I suggest making a doctors appt as soon as possible, at least just to check it out.

You said you were just there, I'm guessing that means when you had the flu or whatever it was about 2 weeks ago. Don't worry, I've gone to doctors like 4 times in a 2 month period. As long as you're being treated. It could be something your doctor has never seen, you might even want a second opinion, who knows, but what we all can tell you is none of us are doctors (well I don't know of any columnists that are) so you're better off getting an appt.

Until then I can tell you to drink lots of liquids, mainly OJ and water. Also get lots of rest, use lots of blankets too. When I was younger my dad always made me try to sweat out whatever sickenss was in me, sweating CAN, but won't always, help you get over some things faster.

hi, I am a girl who is 13. I always act mature for my age, and have friend's who are always older than me. Is this normal?

Of course it's normal. I was a lot more mature than my friends and others when I was 13 (I was also in 8th grade and for a few months a freshman in high school at 13)
But I talk to lots of 13 year olds and I'm almost 15 and they're more mature than your average 13 year old girl who constantly types in chatspeak and says "lol" way too much.
But I do think it's perfectly normal if that makes you feel any better.

Hey, I’m usually the one giving advice. I don’t need advice. I just have a question and I want to know your opinion. This question is for deep thinkers. Long answers are encouraged as well as comical ones.

I’ve seen quite a lot of “love” questions, asked by adolescences. What would you call "true love"? Many people have been saying “I have a boyfriend and I REALY love him” and “she said that he loves me” or things like that. I’ve seen these questions being asked by 13 year olds! Teens DO have deep affections for people, but I really don’t think that they are capable of TRUE love. How can there be love if teen relationships only last 2 months or even 2 years! 2 years is quite long for a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, but shouldn’t love last a LIFETIME? I agree that teens think that they are in love (I’ve been there) but I wouldn’t call that love. I would call it more like, “deep affection”. After all, if love between teens is really “love” then they shouldn’t break up, right? I think that teens are too young and “unexposed” to have TRUE LOVE. Even adults. They mistakenly call their relationships “love”. If it was actually love, then shouldn’t there be less or no divorces?

Okay I'm not going to have much of an answer because I'm only 14 (soon to be 15 though) anyway, I really just wanted to say for 17 this is pretty deep. I once thought I was in love (and to think, I'm young) but even when being with someone for a little over a year, I still didn't really know him, I used the term love lightly. Looking back I honestly don't think I would have died for him. I mean thats really what love is. You would die for the person you care about, you would do whatever you had to. Like in this story...

I would consider that true love! I know it's just a story, but to think that a guy would die just so this girl would live, that is what true love is all about. I don't think age has anything to do with love. I know people that got married the second they were both 18, not all the relationships worked out, but some are still going strong. Just because you find mr right early doesn't mean that it's not mr right (or like mrs right) Love is a strong word, and it shouldn't be used lightly. If you've ever seen/read "The Notebook" or "A Walk to Remember" (I'm a HUGE Nicholas Sparks fan) well even though they're just books/movies, they're still about younger people finding love and doing all they can to hold onto it. I mean the guy from the notebook wrote her 1 letter everyday for a year, he was young and in love!

Beacuse I'm not as experienced in love as others I can't answer this "question" with much knowledge, but love is when you would go to the end of the world and back for someone. When you would risk your life to protect someone else. When you would do anything you can for the person you care about. These are some quotes I found that I strongly believe in that have to do with love!

Okay so my friend said she hates my boyfriend, and always tells me to dump him or she will make my live hell.. she said that i deserve someone hotter because my boyfriend is ugly, and cares about only me. This girl isn't your real friend. Have you tried telling her that what she's saying is hurtful? Maybe you just should hang around both of them at the same time.
But honestly she isn't a true friend, and you should talk to her and if she doesn't listen or at least try, then you should just dump her as a friend. Usually it's "Chicks before dicks" as in your friends should come before any guy, but not with the way this friend is acting.

my brother is really spoiled. Here are some reasons why:
*he gets whatever he wants
*whatever he does i get blamed for-no joke.
*when he wants friends over, he can have them over (I cant.)
*if he slaps me or hits me or punches me, even if i dont say anything or touch him, i get yelled at. EVERY TIME.
*one time my friends came over and he started just peeing his pants right there and my friend and i told my mom and she didnt believe us even after my brother admitting it because she thinks hes "perfect" and would never do anything like that.

I honestly don't know what you can do, my brother is the same way, except he's 13 (I'm your age, though I'll be 15 soon)
He's really tough and he once punched me in the face, chipped my tooth, and guess who got yelled at when my mom had to take me to the dentist, ME for upsetting him enough to make him punch me (yet all I did was pull him off of a screaming and crying 4 yr old that he was tackling). Anyway there really isn't anything you can do, my brother is the same way, and he effing gets away with everything.

Let me guess, he's the youngest? My brother is, that's why he gets babied.

Besides the pants peeing thing, and him having friends over thing, our brothers and moms are exactly alike with that. My mom always says "puh-lease I never baby him" and doesn't listen.
What about your dad? Is he in the picture, are you able to talk to him about it? If so you'll have to. If you still can't I suggest seeing a school councilor, though I'll warn you NOTHING is confidential, no matter what the heck they say (trust me, I was told to see the councilor and she said it would all be confidential, yet it wasn't she called home right after I left)
But still, if you're mom won't do a thing, and you're dad isn't in the picture or won't do a thing, then your next bet is to talk to a trustworthy adult such as a teacher, neighbor, parent of friends, or school councilor.

Sorry I couldn't be of much help, I just wanted to let you know that you're not the only one going through that. Moms will be moms, brothers will be brothers, not that it's right, but good luck on changing it.

Sorry if I came across as uncaring, I do care, and I empathize, or sympathize, because I'm going through the same thing. Also I'm a middle child so it makes things somewhat tougher. But anyway, I hope your mom realizes how much she babies him, maybe if she checks your computer history she'll even see that you wrote this question and then get a big slap in the face. You could even right her a letter with how you feel, then print out this page with the advice you get, put it in the letter and leave it on her bed. Hah, I just thought of that, it might even work!!

I'll make this simple... if you're old enough to be on this site, then you're old enough to wear a mini-skirt. At least in my opinion.
And yes, tall girls with long legs wear them. Just think most models are tall with long legs right, well don't models wear mini skirts. Haha, okay well I hope I answered your question.
