"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love" - Albus DumbledoreHi, I'm Laura. I'm a senior in college & I'm slowly deciding what I want to do with my life. I love Harry Potter, coffee, writing, and sleeping (amongst other things). I'll never claim to know everything, but I'm confident in my ability to help people with their problems. Feel free to send me an inbox question; I'll get back to you!
A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.
BU 2014 :)
wicked awesome conversations
^my forum, liven it up a little?

Hey, I'm 16 F as well as my friend. I think she has an eating disorder. Today, we went running, and after she was like "that Chiness really filled me up" Which may I add in, was around 12, and she said thats all she ate today. Shes lost a lot of weight, and she doesn't eat really anything at lunch. A PB&J, banana, and some kind of health bar. Ahd she said she eats for breakfast is a bagle(spelling)I don't know if she eats after school, she says she does. Now the funny thing is, shes losing all this weight, but isn't doing anything to burn calories. Like running or anything. Today was the first day she ran in a looooong time. And me and her other friends always "get on her" about what she;s eating. And yesterday she was talking about how much she weigh and I was like " you know its really not healthy to talk about your weight all the time" and shes like "I'm not I was just saying". Then today, she was said "I feel fat" about 5 times. And before we started running she said" I want to be really skinny" then I looked at her and she was like "not really skinny, but built" and I rolled my eyes. She use to weigh the same as me, 150ish, but she was "fat" and I have an athletic body, I play sports. Back around I say Jan-Febish, she was about 150. Shes now 129 or less. I'm scared, and I really dont know what to do.
Her weight loss was healthy. Don't worry about that.
I don't think she has an eating disorder, I think she lost weight by improving her eating habits. How do you know that she hasn't been doing anything to burn calories? You can't possibly be there for every second of her life. Plus, you said that she's been eating less. Which, if a person is overweight, is something they have to do. I lost thirty pounds mainly by eating less and controlling portions.
Peanut butter and jelly, a banana, and a health bar IS actually a fair amount to eat at lunch. I think your friend is fine, she just has a negative body image. The same thing happened to me when I lost weight, I kept thinking I was still fat and could do better. Unless she stops eating completely you most likely don't have anything to worry about.

it keeps saying its bigger than 15k,
but my picture is seriously tiny.
so what exactly is "15k"
and how can i turn my picture from pixels to "k's"
:)
It's a lot easier to upload your picture on www.tinypic.com, and then put a link to it as "URL of a picture of you"
That way your picture can be almost any size you want and you don't have to worry about file sizes or anything. :]
Ok, well I don't have quite a gf yet but I just wanna know how things like one month anniversaries work and other stuff so I can teach my self to be a good bf for ehn i get a gf someday. So anyways what are one month anniversaries and how they work? Well that was my main question but I would also like to know other relationship stuff.
One month anniversaries are just the day you asked her out. Like if you started going out on the 22 of December, your [x]-month anniversary would be the 22 each month. They're informail (it's not like a one-year) and can typically be acknowledged with a "Happy [x] Month!". And if you wanted to, you could get her something like a rose. That'd be cute. Buuuut you don't have to. My boyfriend and I don't get each other anything, we just ask how we've put up with the other that long ;]
As for other things there's a lot, yet not a lot at the same time. You learn things as you go & above everything else just be yourself. It's so cliche but also true. Being totally geniune is one of the best things you can do in a relationship.
Anymore questions just ask.

where can i get a good push-up bra? victorias secret is overrated. which brand would you recommend?
Mudd and l.e.i. from Kohls [and wherever else they might be sold]
Gilligan & O'Malley and xhiliration from Target.
The most important thing really, is picking the right style. Try on every bra before you buy it and make sure you're wearing the right size. Also be sure that the bra has adjustable straps, because as they stretch out over time, you'll have to tighten them. This will allow you to wear it longer.
ok so my bf cheated on me but he didnt like the girl he only wanted to hook up with her cause he thinks shes hott.
i need songs saying like i hope she was worth it.
please give me some. thanks

Okay, so I'm auditioning for this drama club at my school. They write comedy sketches and perform them. The requirments for auditions is a 1-2 minute dramatic or comedic monologue. I already wrote it but I don't really have anyone to read it and tell me what they think. So if you could give advice/constructive criticism that would be great. If you don't want to read it it's fine, if you do thank you.
The Logic of Insanity
So for the past two weeks I’ve been trying to write this ridiculously brilliant monologue and I just sat there at my computer for hours…brainstorming…coming up with potentially great ideas…and watching them fall apart over… and over… and over again. So I tried channeling some of the great writers, reading their stuff…
But then I realized maybe I just have to be crazy, you know, like all the great writers and artists, like the Disney writers, for one, who were on crack and put subliminal messages in all of the films…
Anyways, a lot of the great writers, the ones who made history, and the ones that we’re forced to read about in English…were either criminally insane, suicidal, addicts, or just plain high while they were writing.
Like Stephen King. The guy wrote some amazing books, you know… the shining, the stand, IT…though I don’t think he was ever sober. He did cocaine, marijuana, drank his weight in alcohol…okay so not the best actor to look to for inspiration.
Now Edgar Allen Poe was a good writer too. He had a bit of an obsession with ravens…after all I don’t think anyone had the talent of being able to stay awake long enough to hear the last “nevermore” in “the raven.” But the tall-tale heart was amazingly well written…and a little disturbing. And he only had to be abandoned as a young boy, thrown out on the streets by his adopted father, turn to alcoholism, develop rabies, and attempt suicide twice to get there. What an…amazing role model…really. His parents would be very proud I’m sure. I mean, I…I want to be just like him when I grow up.
Even Van Gogh, not even a writer, but one of the greatest artists to ever live... cut off his left ear and sent it to “the love of his life” Poor girl…I mean I don’t know what kind of girls he was into, but personally I would think it a bit of a turn-off to receive someone’s ear in the mail. I mean what do you say after that? “Ummm thanks for mutilating yourself for me but…I’m just not interested” or maybe the infamous “It’s not you it’s me” Like anyone ever believes that.
Then the poor guy realized he just cut off his ear for a girl who wasn’t interested in him and killed himself…I wonder what she did with that ear…anyway I guess Van Gogh would go in the category of those criminals on the run who think warehouses are still shady and those people who think shower radios are amazing gifts to give people, because honestly… Do you really want music in the shower? I mean I guess there's no better place to dance than a slick surface next to a glass door. Forget guns. If you’re trying to kill someone look no further ladies and gentlemen, just get a shower radio. Cheap and effective only for a low, low price of $9.99. If the person is not six feet shorter in the next 60 days we’ll give you a full refund.
So yah…I don’t do drugs, I’m not on crack, not an alcoholic, I’m not criminally insane or suicidal…at least not yet. This high school crap can really get to a person. I’m not on some terrible daytime soap where every single person is obnoxiously and unrealistically beautiful 24 hours a day and always have something witty to say. So, unfortunately, I guess I’m just going to have to depend on my own brain. I might have some problems along the way…but Nothing Shakespeare couldn't turn into a really good play…or tragedy.
Very good. The only errors I came across were a couple capitalization things, which won't even be noticed since you're reading it out loud. It flows well & seems easy to read.
Good luck =)
okayy so im 15 and a female.. well i know for a fact, 100 percent that i want to wait until marriage before i have sex and i know that in the future guys will respect you more if yoou werent out and about being a little whore..but right now i feel like i cant get a boyfriend.. at all bc im just not like that idk im not ugly and im not shy but it feels likee every guyy just wants to have sex like all the time or something. idk what to do..is this just how they r at this age??
Nope. It'll be next to impossible to find a guy who doesn't THINK about sex, but there's plenty out there who are looking for more than that. A decent guy will respect your choice and there's a lot more out there than you might think.
i got sidebangs over a year ago, and i found that they were getting super annoying and never styled right. so i started pinning them up more often and tried to grow them out.
well they're upto my nose / chin area now, except they're still really annoying. like they're not quite long enough to fit behind my ears, and when i straighten my whole head, the bang pieces separate and fall in front of my face (even when i don't style them separately from the rest of my head). and i constantly have to run my fingers through my hair in order to keep them looking okay.
i've tried using hairspray, but i don't like hairspray. does anyone have any suggestions, or should i just wait until they grow out completely?
i always put my hair in a 'pouf' (clipped back) and / or a headband, and it's getting super boring. any other hairstyles i could use in the meantime while they grow out?
I've got a similar problem, only my side bands aren't quite as long. Lately I've been using a gumball-sized dab of extreme hold hairgel and running my figners through the front of my hair, to sort of hold my hair back and out of my face.
It might not work for your hair but it's worth a try.
do u have to use lube when giving a handjob?
if so,what should i use?
but is there anyway to do it without it?
Ask the guy what he'd prefer.
It's not necessary at all, it just feels different to both people.
There's plenty of ways to give a handjob without it, but we can't go into detail on this site. Google could be helpful for you, though. Search "how to give a handjob" or something similar. At your own risk by the way.
I jeard bon jovi used to be gay before he got married. I dont know how u can just turn straight but watever has anyone else heard this? Its not true right?
I've never heard that, actually.
I highly doubt that you can "turn straight". But, it would be logical to believe that someone could experiment with their sexuality and come to the conclusion that they're straight. A couple of my female friends, for example, have dated girls in the past, and realized their feelings were simply of friendship, and not sexually charged.
Does that help?
ok, ive done everything to my boyfriend already but he hasnt fingered me or anything..im completely 100% ready im not nervous at all but my vagina aaalllwaaayyss has a certain smell to it like i clean my self good down there how do i like wash it good enough to smell good all day/night? sorry i know its gross but i dont know who else to ask
Honestly, it's a vagina. It's going to have a smell. As long as you shower everyday, you'll be fine. Washing TOO much actually messes up your pH levels and could make the smell worse.
So just using regular body wash (and rinsing completely, because soap + that area = wicked itchy) is sufficient.
Just as a side note make sure your boyfriend's fingernails are trimmed & smooth.
hey,
does anyone know where I can buy

If you don't find the color you want, you can always buy a cheap pair of really light denim shorts and buying a couple boxes of dye at Target or walmart. That could be a bit messy, but the end result would be whatever color you wanted.

After I ask a girl out (hopefully I get a response yes) what do I say?
-I'm not gonna say "awesome thx so much" Im not that stupid, but I'm not smart enough to think of what to say next. Any advice is appreciated.
***PLEASE RESPOND USING CORRECT GRAMMER***
Quite honestly I don't think you have to plan anything in particular. Something as simple as "Great" or hugging her. When my boyfriend asked me out he kissed me when I said yes (well, I said "okay, we should" because his exact wording was, 'we should date'). But that may or may not fit your particular situation. Just go with the flow =)
Best of luck! :]

There is a series of books (I forget the authors name). But, the first one was "Uglies", the second "Pretties" and the third "Specials".
I have read the first two, but I don't like how the third book starts. Is it worth reading it (for anyone who has read it)? Don't tell me the details, I just want to know if it turns out to be a good read. (I usually have lots of hw and other stuff so I only plan on reading books that will be worth my time).
Yes, it's worth it.
There's also a fourth book, Extras, that I haven't read yet.
so i was holding my boyfriends hand yesterday and like i guess you could say he falls into the stereotype of punk.. and like he always wears arm sweat bands but on his wrist and it was moved up onto his arm yesterday and i happened to look down at his wrist and theres like scars .. i saw 3 on 1 wrist and then i looked at his other one and there was 2 does anyone think maybe this is just a coincidence?? or do you think there from cutting like im so confused and i really hope he didn't but like its just ironic how its there what should i do? i dont think i should address him about it but.. i just dont know ah help?
I'd ask him one day what the scars are from. It's possible that a cat or oather animal scratched his arms. Also, remember that if they're scars (and not fresh cuts) they're most likely old and healing, which means he doesn't cut anymore. If in fact that's what it is.
So, ask him about them. You're his girlfriend & you should care about him, so it wouldn't be weird of you to ask.
Good luck =)

Is it okay that I'm dating someone who's not the same age as me? I really like them.
Absolutely. Age is only a number and it really shouldn't influence your decision when you're deciding who to date. Granted, you shouldn't be with a 30 year old guy at the age of, say, 14. That's just strange, and what would you have in common.
But three years or less between you? I wouldn't even think twice about it. If you're interested in someone, it shouldn't matter if their birthday occurred a year before yours, right?
I often see/hear the argument "An older guy only dates a younger girl for sex". This is completely untrue. Sure, there's some guys out there who might do that. But you could just as easily find someone your own age who could do the same thing! So if they have good intentions and YOU want to date them, go for it! There ARE guys who want more than a physical relationship ;]
Example: My boyfriend is a year older than me, I'm sixteen. I'm with him because I want to be. He's an amazing guy who respects me. My parents fully approve of him, and when I asked if our age difference mattered to them, they told me what I've said previously: "He's a nice guy who respects you, and a year isn't much at all"
In other words, don't let other people's opinions influence how you feel. It's up to you.

If you have oral sex are you still a virgin? or is sex, sex, or is it just something sexual because my friend said it's concidered half but that dosen't make any sense it's either your a virgin or your not.
You're a virgin until you have sex.
So by most standards you're still a virgin, until you have actual sex, with penetration.
Is Marfan's Syndrome a gamete or body cell disorder? Does it start as an adult or as an infant?
It's genetic. A person is born with it, but often it's not noticed that they have it until it's too late (typically the aorta or other blood vessels/arteries tear, and they bleed to death. Ah, biology. So morbid at times. Although nowadays, there's better ways to diagnose diseases and characteristics are recognized more easily. Also, it's believed that Abraham Lincoln had the disease. I noticed that the search results didn't have him listed every time.
I just got my license the other day and I only drive my sisters to school.
Am I allowed to drive them!?
I live in California, if that helps at all.
Well, you'd know the laws better than I would because I'm from Massachusetts. Taken from http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/dl_info.htm :
Provisional Driving Restrictions—You must be accompanied and supervised by a licensed parent, guardian or other licensed driver 25 years of age or older or a licensed or certified driving instructor when you:
Transport passengers under 20 years of age at any time, for the first twelve months.
Drive between 11 pm and 5 am for the first twelve months.
To determine if these restrictions apply to you, look at the date on your driver license. The date printed just to the left of your photograph is the date these restrictions begin. The new restrictions apply for 12 months following this date. For example: If the date on your license is May 7, 2005, you will have the above restrictions through May 7, 2006. Violation of either restriction can result in a fine and/or community service.
Persons under 18 may not be employed to drive a motor vehicle. When you turn 18 years of age, the provisional part of your license ends. You may continue to drive as an adult using your photo license, which will expire on your 5th birthday after the date you applied.
Exceptions to Restrictions
When reasonable transportation is not available and it is necessary for you to drive, the law grants the following exceptions for minors to drive between 11 pm and 5 am or to transport an immediate family member unaccompanied and unsupervised.
The law allows the following exceptions when reasonable transportation is not available and it is necessary for you to drive. A signed note must be kept in your possession for any of these exceptions explaining the necessity and the date when the driving necessity will end (except emancipated minors).
Medical necessity when reasonable transportation alternatives are inadequate. The note must be signed by your physician, and contain the diagnosis and probable date of recovery.
Schooling or school-authorized activity. The note must be signed by your school principal, dean, or his/her designee.
So, I think you'd need a note from your principal saying that your sisters need transportation to school? I'd ask to be sure, though.
Ok maybe it's just me but i always watch these movie with people and their first kisses and stuff like and it makes me want that even more i mean i'm 14 and never exactly had a real boyfriend and obviously havent had my first kiss yet but watching these movie always makes me want it even more it might sound crazy or stupid but i am definitely into the 'find your one true love' kind of thing and i know someday it will eventually happen but the wait is killing me and maybe that sounds stupid but it's just seeing these great relationships and how much in love people can be it really is a beautiful thing and maybe i'm just babbling and sounding crazy here but like i said i really want that you know that kind of relationship where of course you have your fights but in the end their always there for you where you can see how much they like you just by the way they look at you and stuff like that i want that and of course my first kiss but i want it with someone really special and it has to be that right moment and everything and the right person and the right place and i know it will happen someday and that the longer i wait the more special it will be when it does happen but i dont know i guess i just want opinions on this like have you felt this way before how was your first kiss what happened you know those kinds of things
My first kiss was more or less on a dare. Well, it was a dare. But I really wanted to kiss him so my best friend dared me to. I had liked the guy for all of 8th grade and was totally psyched. Unfortunately, one of my friends who was also at the party at my house ALSO liked him. So when we kissed I thought she was going to kill me. Haha. After that I realized I liked him as a friend, but I wouldn't change anything about that kiss =)
Anyways, don't rush into things! It'll be a lot more special if you really like the person you're kissing, and not just "Oh, well you're cute enough, so I guess you'll do...." And don't worry about screwing up/kissing the wrong way. Your first kiss will be momorable- and most likely (actually almost definitely) not your favorite =P. At least in my case. Kissing is wicked fun and shouldn't be stressed over/planned out too much.
