"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love" - Albus DumbledoreHi, I'm Laura. I'm a senior in college & I'm slowly deciding what I want to do with my life. I love Harry Potter, coffee, writing, and sleeping (amongst other things). I'll never claim to know everything, but I'm confident in my ability to help people with their problems. Feel free to send me an inbox question; I'll get back to you!
A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.
BU 2014 :)
wicked awesome conversations
^my forum, liven it up a little?
advice
I have just put one of my picture folders onto hidden and i dont know how to access it again. Have i just lost my pictures?
How can i access the folder again?
It is a Picture folder in My Documents > MY Pictures.
Please Help
Go to Tools, then Folder Options.
Then click on the tab that says "View"
Under advanced settings, there's a heading "Hidden Files and Folders"
Click the dot next to "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
Click OK at the bottom.
And you should be all set.
Now that you can view the folder, right-click, go to Properties, and go to the "General" tab. There should be a heading "Attributes" and un-check the box that says Hidden.
Hope that helps =]
i have this new boyfriend and our relationship is going quite well...my only problem is that we both love to make-out, but sometimes, he's not so great at it.
how do i tell him without it being an awkward situation or hurting his feelings?
Well guys don't get subtle hints very well. If at all.
So you'll have to be sort of direct without hurting his feelings.
Speak up- if, say, he's drooling all over your face, pull back for a moment and say, "Hey this is great but could you stop drooling all over me?" in a playful tone.
Pull back when he does something you don't like.
Or, kiss the way you want him to- and he just might get the hint eventually.
Also, you could grow to like how he kisses, too... it all depends on the person/situation.
Grreeattt. So im deffinitly going through puberty.
I have a dance comin up and im going to wear this strapless dress..
'PROBLEMO
i have a skin problem.
I have acne on my shoulders and my back.
Not serious but i mean visable.
ugh ewwwwwwwwwwwww. i neeed themm goonnee!
advice?
Neutrogena Body Clear works really well.
It definitely improved my body acne, and mine was absolutely AWFUL.
If you have some big zits the day of the dance, hide them with a dab of concealer or foundation, and use some shimmer powder to distract from the redness.
But honestly, unless you've got a tumor growing out of your collarbone, people are going to say "OMG LOOK AT HER DRESS, and not "OMG LOOK AT HER ACNE!" More people have it than you probably realize.
Have fun at your dance! :]
for a guy how much is too much
Well it's your body, so ultimately it's your decision. If you're involved with a particular person, ask them what they'd prefer and go from there. Personal opinion coming from a girl? You don't want to have a forest down there, maybe just trim it up a little if you're uncomfortable about it that much.
i'm a 15 yr old who's lives in new york and i was wondering if theres any way that i can get birth control without my parents finding out.. i don't have a job yet so i don't have too much money.. is there any way?
This may or may not help you, but have you considered asking your parents about it? It may seem like a conversation you do NOT want to have, but in my experience it has helped a lot with communication and stuff.
It was actually under the recommendation of my doctor that I be put on birth control, because I was suffereing from many things it can correct- horrible cramps [as in missing school], irregular periods, bad acne, moodiness, etc. Before I was actually put on it, though, I had discussions about it with my parents- and it wasn't as bad as it may seem. They trusted me to make my own decisions, and it opened up the opportunity to talk about sex and things like that.
So assuming that you have at least a semi-good relationship with your parents, seriously consider including them in your decision. There's many benefits to this, including a) then knowing about your medications in case of a medical emergency, b) lower cost- insurance covers a part of it in many cases, and a doctor typically gives a three-month supply as a sample, so you don't have to pay, and c) having the lines of communication open with your parents, and them trusting you just by knowing that you're able to talk to them about things.

do those un-tangling shampoos really make a difference to your hair? is it worth buying?
I'm sure they do; however, if you're wary about switching shampoos, might I suggest a detangling spray? Suave for Kids makes a wicked-good smelling spray.. it's something like "Awesome Apple" but they changed the character on the bottle, so I think the name changed too... anyways, you can find it with the Suave Kids stuff for under $3 at Target.
And the shampoos DO work, they might not be as good as say, your regular shampoo & a spray, but everyone's hair is different so experiment.
People sometimes have a profile picture, but it's not in their picture folder.
How do they do this?
And is there a way to see these pics?
Thanks!
They make the photo album the picture is in to be viewable by themselves only, and no, there isn't a way to view it.
Hey I'm 14 years old and in july i have an 2 weddings to go to and i have no idea what to wear. I'm a very informal dresser, dressing up for my is rock consert clothes. I want to have something nice to wear but not look really girly because thats ust not me, have you got any ideas of what i can wear?
Thank You!
XXX
You'll want to look nice, because you'll most likely be in LOTS of pictures. Check the invitation for things like "black-tie", otherwise you're on your own here. My suggestion would be either a nice sundress [which might be too girly-feeling for you, but if it's an outdoor wedding you might end up liking it]. Plus, you could wear a cropped jacket or sweater over it, which would make it feel more casual for you.
DO NOT WEAR WHITE!!! Black isn't as bad, but you might feel blah and boring. Unless it's black-tie, then it's fine.
Otherwise, what about a nice pair of pants and a top? You'd LOOK dressed up, but still feel comfortable.
pants like this [NO jeans!!!]

Shirts, might be harder. If oyu have to go shopping, take a mom/aunt/older sister/ you get the idea.
Maybe something like this? I don't know your style exactly.

i have this huge issue well my boyfriends 18th birthday on june 23 and i dont know wat to do...Im 15 and im turning 16 in october and i dont wanna break up with him or anything..I mean i really love him but his mom doesnt want us together...basically how can i help convince his mother that i love him and im committed??
I don't completely understand your question. Did his mom just recently disapprove of your relationship just because he's turning 18, or has she always been like this? If it's a recent thing, talk to her [preferably with your boyfriend present] and reassure her that you want the relationship to continue. After all, if age didn't matter to her before, there may be something else bothering her. Maybe she doesn't want to her son to be so committed to a girl already, or she doesn't want either of you to get hurt by the age difference. For example, if he's going to college soon, she may be worried about your relationship going long-distance.
Regardless, talk to her. Communication nearly always helps significantly in this sort of situation.
Good luck =]

I need to know what is the status of a girl who has never been penetrated but has been rubbed upon. Does it still mean that she is a virgin? What if she has received oral sex but has never given it. Can this girl become pregnant if the guy came on the area around her vagina.
Technically, she's a virgin because she's never had intercourse.
And it's possible to become pregnant in that way, however chances are very slim, because sperm would have to travel a fairly long distance. Regardless, if there's going to be precum or ejaculation of any sort near that area, condoms should be used as a precaution.
13/f! Ok so this boy I like always texts me. When texting he brings up sex. I play along just to see what he'd do. To make him aware that Im kidding I text haha, he on the other hand doesnt. "He says like I work from _to_ I can come over at 6". I told him that my friend is asking me if I am gonna do it or not and he says "o yea your doing it." joking around i textd him & "said oh no its past 6, are you coming?" he replies back "i have to shower...we could do it in the shower, but what's the plan on protection?" I DON"T KNOW WHAT TO DO! He jokes about alot of things thats something you have to know about him, but is he joking now? I am questioning it because I asked him out before & he said no, so please help! Do you think he is jokin? THANKS!
He's probably joking. Guys (as well as girls, let's not be one-sided here) joke around a lot about everything, I wouldn't view it as anything more serious than that.
And my guy friends [sixteen, seventeen years of age] still do the same thing, and probably always will. So get used to it if you can =P
Oh and of course, if he ever makes you feel uncomfortable, ask him nicely to stop. But you knew that already, right?
i want the pink covergirl fruit spritzers shade in this picture:
http://www.blogher.com/files/blogher-wetslicks.jpg
but, i dont know what shade that is. i was thinking it would be the berry splash, but, i wasent for sure. and also, are these lipglosses sticky?
I think it's Berry Splash. The only other one it could possibly be is Guava Splash... and that color seems too orange-y.
I haven't used them, but whether or not it's sticky is a matter of opinion. CVS has a 100% money-back guarantee on makeup, so if you wanted to buy it there you could return it if you really didn't like it. Or get it at Target. Or do the following search:
im ganna promote in june.i have my dress already but i have ugly scares on both of my legs.and i really want to cover them up.what can i use?
I've covered bruises and scars before with concealer and/or foundation [I had to blend them to get the right shade]. It works fairly well, and doesn't take all that long.
Unless you live somewhere cold I wouldn't recommend wearing tights or anything because you'll overheat and be VERY uncomfortable.
Chances are, you notice bruises/scars more than other people will. It's not uncommon to have them from sports and the like, so I wouldn't try too hard to cover them up. If you're talking about like, a surgery scar or something, try consulting a dermatologist if you can, or tru a product like Mederma to fade them. I've heard many different stories about if it works or not, but it's not wicked expensive so you might as well try.
As a side note, if you don't obsess over them too much, no one else will either. Wear your dress with confidence, do your hair in your favorite style, & you'll look and feel great!
Have fun :]

Why do boys like boobs?
Because they're guys, and it's probably encoded into their DNA to think "zOMG BOOBS!" everytime they see them.
I've asked this many times myself, and I've always gotten some form of "Well, we're guys, and it's engraved in our brain. Plus they're awesome."
Does that help? haha
k so when i was a baby i had a rash on my neck, so my grandmother put this cream on it. turns out i was somewhat allergic to it and i grew this brown mole thingy (it isnt round or anything it kinda is like a bunch of round spots that sticks out) so the doctor said i can have it removed by like scraping it or osmething at the dermatoligist. they'll put anesthesia on it so i wont feel it. but im kinda scared. does anyon have this? and did it hurt when you removed it?
I had a birthmark removed. I was awake & they only used local anesthesia. The doctor had to cut away part of my skin & stitch it back together :] Quite an interesting scar, I must say. It healed just fine, and actually about six years after the surgery I got a steroid shot to shrink the scar tissue. Now it's like it was never there, besides a pink mark.
I imagine that a less invasive procedure will hurt even less & leave a very minimal scar behind. You can always ask for before & after pictures. Plus, pinkish mark = easier to cover with makeup & the like, than a mole.
this guy i realy like i know his spot its his ear or behind his ear one of those but i dont know what to do to it
list somethings i could do with his ear to turn him on
thanx in advance ill rate you
Kiss, nibble, lick, blow on it gently, whisper things, even just brush against it. Whatever feels comfortable to you and is appropriate to where you both are. Example: licking someone's ear at school is probably a bad idea, but it's the perfect time to whisper something cute or casually fix his hair [but really you're touching his ear]
Basically just have fun =D
how could you be half a virgin?
Well in my opinion, you're either a virgin or you're not.
But I believe the term 'half a virgin' refers to a person who has "done things" besides kissing [such as oral sex] and hasn't had intercourse yet. Like, they're not totally innocent but they haven't had sex yet.
Does that help?
i just started perscription acne antibiotics a few days ago. how long after you begin taking it will you see results? esp. on chest, shoulders, and back. how long after i start use utill it will be totally clear? thank you!
Well, when I did that a few years ago, I started noticing an improvment after a few weeks. At first your acne might actually get worse [but only for a few days so don't worry]
As long as you're a teenager, you'll never be "totally clear". But you'll have wicked good skin after a few months or so. Everyone's different. But regardless, it'll be an awesome feeling to have your acne under control with just the occassional breakout- trust me!
Anyway, your doctor will probably take you off the antibiotic after a certain amount of time, because it's bad to be on them if you don't have to be. He might switch you to a topical antibiotic like clindamycin if he deems it necessary.
Just as a side note, if you use spot treatments, use them everywhere you have acne. It won't do a thing for your shoulders if you're only applying it to your face.
Good luck! =]
what does it mean when they say in the song "I Miss You", "..to know that you feel the way i do, is a three-fold, utopian dream" what does that mean?
A picture-perfect situation, times three.
Basically, feeling the same way about them as they feel about you is as perfect as it can be [like a utopian society would be for them], but even better than they expected [hence the threefold].
Put yet another way, the mutual feelings between the two people in question make life perfect.
okay im a 14/f about to turn 15 in july anywayz when i first started growing i was wearing and a cup now they have gotten bigger i couldnt fit my bras anymore and my friends were telling me im like a b cup now i brought b cup bras and ithink in not a b either because a b looks to big on my breast what STORES CAN I GTO IN PHILLY SAY MAYBE FRANKLIN MILLS IDK BUT MARSHALLS JC PENNYS SOME STORES ANY STORES THAT MEASURE YOUR CUP SIZE I NEED HELP IM VERY CONFUSED
