Hello! I am studying esthetics at an Aveda Institute after spending years in retail. I am proof that nothing turns out how you think it will, and that's a good thing. When you think you've got it figured out, you don't. Life would be boring otherwise, right?Makeup, skincare, and psychology are my passions and I'm also happy to give advice on relationships, particularly for teenagers (so many things I wish I could have told myself a decade ago!) I'm happy to help fellow abuse survivors as well.
I'm a diehard SF Giants fan and also enjoy watching the Sharks and Niners. Addicted to music, especially The Gaslight Anthem. Oh, and my name is Krista. :)

there are sayings in which you can say "he wouldn't know.....if it..."
like for example: "he wouldn't know real music if it hit him upside the head"
does anyone know any other ways of saying those type sentances?
I'm stealing this from Harry Potter, but:
Percy wouldn't know a joke if it danced naked in front of him wearing Dobby's tea kettle.
was there ever a case in which the movie was better than the book?
Mostly, no, but there have been a few cases.
Most people like the Lord of the Rings movies better than the books because they have more action and are easier to understand.
I liked Chocolat better than the book. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the one with Johnny Depp) was at least as good as the book. Same with The Devil Wears Prada.
Some common book-turned-movie favorites:
The Godfather
Jurassic Park
Harry Potter (nowhere near as good as the books)
Shrek
Forrest Gump
Mrs. Doubtfire
Million-Dollar Baby
I'm 15, turning 16 soon. I weigh 115 and im 5'5". When ever my dad sees me he always makes a suggestion like, you shouldn't eat that, you're just getting fatter and fatter. And if i ask for money for new jeans, he says, we'll stop gaining weight so you can fit back into them. I wear a size 0, and i'm growing, what does he expect? How am i suppose to cope with this? It's been bothering me so much lately. My sister, whose 20, is like anorexic skinny. She's my height but doesn't even reach 100 pounds. And my dad always compares me to her. What am i suppose to do?!
I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. You are extremely thin also, although I'm sure you're just naturally that way. The only thing you can really do is ignore your dad and know that you're thin, no matter what he says.
You could also try confronting him, telling him that you're a growing teen and that you are not overweight. He needs to stop with the comparisons. Maybe tell a family member or doctor and they can talk to him for you.
As for the money, try saving up some money to buy things yourself, so you don't have to rely on him so much. Save up little things- birthday money, Christmas money, if you get money to go out with your friends save some- it'll feel good to buy your own stuff.

Any ideas on where to buy cute dresses that aren't like REALLY expensive...
but the problem is I'm only a 32A so I don't fill out some things.... like when they have the boob places built in (do you know what i mean??)
anyway...I'm going to the St.Louis galleria soon and wanted to know stores i could find them at.
Also if there are some stores near Springfield,IL that would be good!!! thanks!!!
Forever 21 has tons of really cute, cheap sundresses.
Wet Seal has a few cute ones too.
Is "A Walk To Remember" a true story? Someone told me once that it happened to the lead singer of the band Switchfoot, Jon Foreman.
No, it's not based off of Jon's life. The actual book takes place in the 50's or 60's (I can't remember). Nicolas Sparks did use some of his experience with his sister having cancer, but it's an original story.
I really need my hair to grow because of this fashion show I've been chosen to be in.How do I get it grow VERY fast??please i need that ASAP.its a emergencyyyyy .thanks in adavnce!
Eat lots of protein.
Go to your local drugstore and look in the vitamin/supplements section for a hair and nails supplement.
Use Garnier Fructis Long and Strong Shampoo.
That's about all you can do.
does mylie cyrus lip synce? on her show, it doesnt look like she does, but in clips from her concerts on tv, it looks like she does.
It looks to me like she does, but keep in mind that the majority of pop artists do and that it's their real voice recorded and edited a little.

i have a few blemishes like acne that r directly in the center of my face. what should i do??
Just so you know, this is in the wrong category, but it doesn't matter to me.
First of all, start a skin-care routine. I never did until about two weeks ago and I'm amazed at the different it makes. My skin looks and feels better, glowing and healthy.
A skin-care routine consists of:
Cleanser- Wet your face, rub cleanser all over your face, rinse off.
Toner- use a cotton pad and wipe all over your face.
Moisturizer- (use oil-free) rub a small amount into your face
Once a week, exfoliate or do a mask before your routine. Do this routine in the morning and at night.
After your routine, time for treatment. I recommend this product, it's amazing and fairly affordable:

Available at drugstores, Walmart, and Target.
Use a small amount and start off using it just once a day to get your skin used to it.
Right now the only thing you can do until the routine kicks in is cover it up. Use a good concealer with acne medication in it. I recommend these:

Make sure to use the right shade. Use a tiny amount (you can always add more) and blend carefully. Brush powder over it (I use covergirl, the kind that comes in the green compact) and you're set.
A quick-fix solution is to put some Visine (the normal kind that helps red eyes) on the ends of q-tips and put it in the freezer. The coldness helps bring the swelling down and the visine helps get rid of the redness.
I can't tell from your question if you're a girl or guy. If you're a guy, let me know in your feedback and I'll adjust my answer to fit you better.
Hope I helped!

tomorrow i have an interview at applebee's restaurant as a hostess.
does anyone work there? do you like it or not? also, what should i wear to the interview?
if anyone is a hostess anywhere, can you tell me if you like it? is it easy? what do you do? the more info the better :]
It depends on the type of person you are. You have to be really patient and not vengeful (for lack of a better word) because people can be jerks. Often people won't leave tips or will act very rudely, and you have to smile and ignore it.
You also should have a good memory, most places have at least their tables numbered, and most of the time the seats are numbered or lettered, too. If someone says, "Bring this to 5 C" you need to know where that is. You have to remember to check on people, and being a good multitasker helps.
For the interview, wear a nice blouse or shirt (not low-cut, better too modest than making a bad impression!), nice pants (not jeans or khakis), and close toed heels or flats. Straighten your hair or put it up, wear natural makeup (no black eyeliner), make your nails look nice with a light or neutral color. Smile and be positive.
Good luck!
what are the worst food & drink that make you gain weight?
I don't know the absolute worst but some bad ones:
Starbucks! Especially things like White Chocolate Mocha Frappuchinos, almost 600 calories for a Grande!
White bread.
Soda and alcohol.
Milkshakes and some smoothies.
Full-fat ice cream.
French fries. Heck, if it's from McDonalds, it's a good bet.
whats the difference between a mormom and a christian.
Okay, I'll try to give you the short answer.
Christians follow the bible. They believe in god and jesus as a prophet.
Mormons (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) follow the Book of Mormon. They believe in different prophets. Many mormon churches are strict and don't allow alcohol and caffeine consumption or dating under the age of 18...but I know people who are mormon and they really don't follow those rules strictly.
Hey, can you guys listen to my song and tell me what you think.. And some adive also, if you have any
I'm kinda shy, so i'm not ready to share this with people I already know.

thanks
The song's a bit dull, to be honest, but it's not horrible.
Your voice needs help though. It's very quiet and you slur your words, so I can't hear the lyrics at all. You sound like you'd be good if you were louder, but it is off-tune in a few spots. I'd recommend voice lessons if you're not already taking them.
I just read the lyrics, and I love them. I think you need a different melody though, less repetitive and a little more dramatic.
I need to learn to speak some French by Friday.
I know you're thinking "haha yeahh right" but it's important. My Dad invited a new person from his job to come have dinner with us on friday. They have 2 kids that are 12 & 14... they just moved here from France & don't speak any English at all. I speak Spanish & English fluently but I don't know any French. I really need to be able to communicate at least a little. Any phrases/yes or no questions/greetings would be most helpful! Please, no online translators.
[if you can help me sound out the words, that would be amazing!]
Thank you soo much!
Okay, some of this will be slang in french, it's not the proper way to say things.

how does society dictate who is good looking and who isn't? what do these people have in common? (skinny, high cheekbones?)
Okay, well, Sherry is partly right, although that quote is misused. "Beholder" means one who admires/adores a person. So that quote means that beauty is in the eyes of a lover or admirer, not that every person sees beauty differently.
People do generally have different ideas of people. Generally speaking, girls with a good body and a tan are considered pretty, as are people who are well-put-together (do their hair and makeup, wear a nice outfit, etc.). For girls, blondes automatically get "pretty points". Also the striking combination of bright blue or green eyes and dark hair is considered by almost everyone to be attractive. Okay, now that I sound like a complete dork, the last thing is that a great smile often can make a not-so-attractive person seem good looking.
I've never had a job before, and tomorrow I have a job interview at Walmart. Does anyone know what questions they might ask me? Or some tips on what I should or shouldn't say?
Thanks.
I just had an interview at Walgreens a few weeks ago and got hired, so here are some things I did.
IMPORTANT: Wear a nice outfit. A blouse, slacks, and close toed shoes (flats are best) should be fine. Put your hair up, a bun is best but a ponytail is fine, too. Paint your nails a light or neutral color to make your hands look nice.
Shake hands with your interviewer and look them in the eye, but don't stare!
Act positive and upbeat. Emphasize your patience, flexibility, reliability, and people skills. Any previous experience working with people should be played up.
Be flexible about scheduling.
Smile and be positive!
Don't give 2-word answers, but you don't need to give a speech either.
Bring some form of ID and your social security number in case they need you to fill out any forms.
Wait a week after the interview, then make a follow-up call.
Questions they may ask:
Why do you want to work at Walmart?
(You really like shopping there/you like working with people/it seems like a great job with a lot of opportunities/it's a good job for your strengths, etc.)
What do you like about Walmart?
(Good customer service, low prices, good selection, etc.)
What are your strengths?
(People skills, patience, reliable, adapt easily, quick learner, etc.)
What are your weaknesses?
(Say something positive- ex. You can be a little overenthusiastic about things you're into, you're a little too much of an optimist, etc)
Are you willing to be flexible about your schedule?
(YES.)
Are you willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays?
(YES. That's what a lot of places are looking for. Individual conflicts can be resolved when you're hired.)
ok i've been walking well power walking three miles a day for a while now is walking the best thing to do to lose weight on your thighs and your legs basically??? also if i eat really healthy and drink lots of water and keep exercising everday or like 5 days a week howmuch weight do you think i could lose by the end of sumer just like an estimate???
For your thighs, try squats and lunges.
Bike riding is also really good for your legs as well as being fairly easy. Jumping rope is more difficult with faster results.
How much weight you lose depends on your current weight, body type, and metabolism. Keep in mind that after the first week, it isn't healthy to lose more than 5 pounds a week.
I want to lose the belly buldge
but does that mean I will have extra skin?
UGH? I just want a flat stomache,
I'm doing the correct exercise and dieting,
so should it be more toned and not all loose or whatver?
16/F
Unless you're losing a large amount of weight (25 pounds or more), there shouldn't be extra skin. Younger people tend to have skin with more elasticity so it should snap right back.
ugh i have so much eyeliner and it wont juss stick to my eye....does anyone know a good brand of eyeliner?
- Try a waterproof one, it has more wax so it sticks better.
I love this one:
http://shop.avon.com/shop/product.asp?pf_id=31385&from=search&find_spec=glimmersticks%20waterproof&camp=200715&dir_delivery=1&rep_delivery=1
- Also try a base under your liner, it'll help it stick:
