i definitley have that triceps jiggle going on..im pretty thin all over, but ive got the jiggle going on...any advice on how to seriuosly firm up without weights?
I will almost guarantee you are a woman if you are complaining about your triceps region. Its a common area for a woman to store bodyfat. You can all the yoga you want but without resistance training no muscle will be built. Before things get firmed and toned up they need to be built up. If you want want to use weights (which are the best) close grip push ups are the best for targeting the triceps...the closer you bring your hands in- the more stress is put upon the tri's.
How do you get a v-muscle? a.k.a. sex lines?
Well to me the V muscles are the Latissmus Dorsi or the back muscles that everyone of those gay underwear models never have even though it's the largest muscle group in the upper body. Anyway- Barbell rows are for that. V muscle is kinda vague don't you think?
OOOO I get it now. Ok in the oblique region- thats all side bends and diet to bring the lines out.
I have this problem. I'm so scared of guns and robbers and everything. Everywhere I go I picture a guy with a gun coming to get something from me. I'm sick of it. I guess I just hear all the stories of things like that happening and I'm living my life in fear. How do I stop?
thanks
You know, I live in NYC and if there is one thing you learn living here it's that you can't live in fear- we have been attacked by terrorists, have muggers and murders walking the streets and cats falling from 86th floor windows in Manhattan high rises that hit people walking by (true). Live your life and don't do it in fear.
What are some low-calorie snacks that taste really good? I'm on a diet and I get tempted to cheat! lol
Fruit
Low fat yogurts
Light protein drinks
Beef Jerky
Rice cakes
Low sugar/calorie puddings
Let me clarify something about "cheating" on diets- there is nothing wrong with cheating and it is in fact beneficial- only if done correctly. By cheating I don't mean eating half a pizza or a gallon of ice cream- controlled portions once every 4 weeks or so if you are consistent in dieting. Your body gets used to the ingredients in your diet foods and so the hormones adjust as well- by introducing a food (cheat food in this case) that is different than what the body has been used to consuming- the body begins to react since it isn't used to these ingredients and thermogenesis occurs. use discretion with cheating- like I said about once every 4 weeks in controlled portions- if you used controlled portions then you can basically cheat with whatever food you please- but don't splurge or your blood sugar and hormones will go through the roof and your diet will fail.

Having money isn't a bad thing- ever notice that it is the people without it that always point fingers and complain?
Could someone tell me the best thing to use to whiten my teeth. Brushing with whitening toothpaste doesnt satisfy me and i want some thing quick and easy. I have already tried Crest Night Effects Whitening Gel and its really messy and hard to apply. Is there anything easier to apply that i could get at walmart? I have thought about the whitening strips but i am unsure. Thanks in Advance!
Baking soda.
would it be safe for a kid to go on the low carb diet?
No it would not- especially if you are in the middle of or haven't started going through puberty yet. Your body needs all macronutrients to grow at this vital time. Don't take what you read in magazines and advice you get from "medical or dietary experts" too seriously. Your body cannot grow or function well when you deprive or severely limit it of it's main energy source.
well these guys at my lunch table where saying something like oh no guy shaves down there.(i don't know how we got on the subject ) all four of the boys agreeded with each other. so are they right? like i thought they did since girls do. but i don't know.
thanxx
What the hell is everyone talking about? I do it and I know lots of other guys who do it too...its not rare lol.
Mkayyy Soo
Im Chubby
Or Fat If Youd Like
But Yeah..Id Really Like To Not Be Fat/Chubby Anymore
Please Help?
Haha
Mkayyyyy Soooooo eat right and exercise.
Do crunches/sit ups really work? I have heard that they do and also heard that they don't do anything. Can someone please tell me if they work & if so, what they actually do? I'll rate 5s. Thanks!
Also, what are some other tummy-toning exersizes? Thanks In Advancez!
From my point of view- crunches work well and sit ups are just garbage.
Contrary to popular belief regular crunches don't just work the upper abs. The Rectus Abdominis is one whole muscle group whose only function is to bring the pelvis closer to the chest hence a "crunch" so the whole upper and lower regions are effectively worked- not just the top.
Sit ups don't work your abs- they work your hip flexor or iliopsos muscles which run from just above the glutes in back and just below the lower abs in front. Not effective at all- this goes for hanging leg raises or lying leg raises as well.
People place a lot of focus on their abdominal regions when really they do not need as many isolation exercises that they do if they would just learn how to work out the right way- but people always look for the easy way out and want results fast so they dont listen to me anyway lol.
Exercises such as squats, deadlifts, clean and presses, barbell rows all are compound movements which rely heavily on the stability that the core (abs) muscles provide. If you learn compound movements and how to successfully implement them- you will find that abs happen on their own and that isolation exercises are really just needed for "polishing up" so to speak with building a little extra muscle and then you can begin to what's called in bodybuilding "cut" with stripping away the bodyfat through clean diet and the metabolizing of extra calories through cardio exercises since you have now built yourself a good foundation.
By the way- good abs are of more importance than just looking good without a shirt- why do you think so many Americans have bad back problems? Because they're out of shape and don't have a good core (core means abs, obliques, etc.). Good abs help to protect against many common back problems.
I run track and my shins are starting to bother me. I have a big track meet tomorrow and I really need some help on wha I need to do to help soothe them. Thank you in advance
I feel for you because these suck.
Try contrast baths- putting your leg into a pool of hot water for 5 minutes, then taking it out and putting ice on it for another 5 minutes and repeat this cycle until about a half hour has gone by.
I run track, I try to eat healthy, I do sit ups but I need abs, well some of this fat into muscle. I need it in less than 20 days. I dont have any equipment and can't buy anything. Can someone help me please. ASAP
Isn't happening- sorry.
how do i work out my calves(?) and legs at home? i want to make my thighs muscular, but bigger and i don't have the time to go to the gym to lift any wieghts.
thanks!!!
Standing toe raises are excellent for the calves- but with a catch.
The calves are in my opinion the most stubborn muscle in the body to work because they are constantly under stress and being used so it takes a lot to really work them.
One day Reg Park was training with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Reg's gym in South Africa and they were doing calves and Schwarzenegger was using 500 pounds on the standing calf raises when Reg told him that in reality every time you take a stride when you walk- one calf is supporting your whole bodyweight so you really need to train them heavy. For example if you are 200 lbs- in reality you would need to put at least 400 lbs of stress on your calves to use all of the Type 1 and Type 2 fast and slow twitch muscle fibers in them whether it be in the Soleus or Gastrocnemius part of the calves. That is just for any bodybuilder who may read this.
For you- continue to do standing toe raises off the side of a set of stairs or whatever you can. Get a friend to workout with you and do Donkey claf raises which is when you are bent over and have them sit on your back and you do calf raises that way- It sounds very weird I know but it is probably the best calf exercise.
Another recommendation I have for working the front part of the calves is what I like to do- Farmer walks with no shoes on. Grab 2 dumbbells and take your shoes off- walk around on the balls of your feet with the 2 dumbbells hanging by your side until you cant walk anymore. Remember- No Pain, No Gain- Remain the Same.
i'm in track and when i come home the last thing i want to do is exercise.
now that is warm-outside i am gunna start riding my bike.
do you think tht this is enough exercise to loose up to 2 lbs a week. i am on a heatlhy diet and stuff. i lose between .5-2 lbs per week
and do you have any advice for track, i want to run the mile in 8 minutes.
I consider bike riding to be an excellent and less boring approach to fitness that I recommend highly. Im glad to see you have a good diet program and that your goal is 2 lbs per week which is exactly what it should be. It sounds to me like you have the tools to get it done right and the right attitude- so go for it :-)
About track- just keep focusing on running and setting mini goals for yourself- maybe try interval training to raise your stamina.
Interval training is done by using your favorite cardiovascular exercise and training in these intense intervals and short less intense periods- for example if you start with a 5 minute warm up jog when you run you then sprint for 30 seconds and then continue to jog for another minute- that is one interval and you try and work harder to get to be able to do more intervals. EXCELLENT way to kickstart the metabolism and increase stamina.
Okay this guy I used to be obsessed with is taking sterioids and I'm really scared for him. At first, he was just taking Creatine but I guess he wanted more. I dont know why I care about him so much -- he ruined my life but yeah. I care. I forgot what the names of the steroids are -- but I was wondering...will he die if he keeps using them? I tell him to stop but he's just like "My body is used to them and if I stop now...My body will get screwed up"
Also hes joining the army in June, so dont they drug test him or something?
If he dies, I'll hate my life forever.
Well first off he's lucky to even have someone who cares that much about his well being. Creatine is not a steroid and has nothing to do with steroids- so don't worry about that- its a very very safe supplement. My viewpoint on steroids are that it is just like any other drug- if used correctly in the right amounts it actually helps to benefit the body and not destroy it- their original development in the 1930's was meant to help men with low testosterone output. However they can be dangerous if used carelessly with a combination of different lifestyle factors such as excessive partying, diet depletion and things like that. The media really paints a very bad picture about steroids that they are evil and bad but unlike other drugs they were originally intended to help people and were not illegal up until about 1990. Now in your case he sounds like an uninformed user who is driven by ego rather than logic and could possibly get hurt because of it. Since the steroids are not physically addicting- the results you get from them cause you to become mentally addicted because the weights go up easier, you get more separation and definition and you dont want to see that go away. Steroids are something that are intended to be used by the professionals in sports and bodybuilding and not the casual lifter simply because everybody over does it and winds up getting hurt. If you take 2 aspirin it will cure your headache right? What if you take 50 at the same time- you die...same thing with anabolics. Caution him that they are first off illegal- a Class 3 scheduled drug in the same category as cocaine, expensive and usually not of pharmaceutical grade quality because dealers ar ejust looking to make a buck. Soem are even as sick to put clorox and olive oil in a mixture and sell it in a vial as Deca Durabolin or another injectible steroid. So once again- the likeliness of a steroid user to die immediately is slim- but the deeper you get into the results you see from them- the more consumed in them you become and you do more of them and this is where you get into trouble. Tell him to just simply dont do it- the legal and health risks are too high.
By the way most drug tests dont test for steroids- thats a fairly expensive separate test so many companies and agencies avoid separate steroid testing for expense reasons- I imagine the army doesnt do this though.
What foods have vitamen a besides carrots? ((Sorry, spelling isn't the greatest!))
Theres 2 kinds of Vitamin A- Beta carotene and Retinol (the stuff that helps you with night blindness) Carrots are among the best sources for Vitamin A as a natural food but what has to be remembered is that Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is able to be stored in the body in contrast to a vitamin like C which is water soluble and any excess is just passed through the urine. Generally you need to be supplementing with very very high amounts everyday over a long period of time to feel the effects of Vitamin A or any other fat soluble vitamin (A,D,E,K) toxicity.
what would be the best way to build more muscles in yoru legs? and the best way to get abs. And make you have faster footwork for sports
Learn how to squat. Squats are a total body exercise as they require more than your legs to keep you stable.
If you learn to do compound movements you will find that you really don't need to do retarded exercise like leg raises and sit ups because of the extreme workload put on your core (midsection) to keep your body stable during these movements.
im planning on buying 6 second ab.. anyone who has/had experience, could you tell me if it acutally works like it says so on tv?
Dont even waste the energy it takes to sit and watch that commercial.
I always say these marketed diets and miracle working things are insulting to the savvy and unfair to the uninformed
i need to loss about ten pounds really fast for an upcoming event, what's the fastest way possible without any side effect. Especially on my tommy and my hip. Help! please!
Does anyone get Deja Vu around here? This question gets asked 40 different ways and the answers are the same.
As a side note- you cant pick where you lose weight...you just lose it.
does peanut butter help you lose weight? or is it at least good when your on a diet?
cause it is peanuts and peanuts are nuts. so shouldn't it be good for dieting?
NO it isn't
Only natural PB is...regular PB is just filled with fat and garbage. Check with your local grocery store and get some all natural PB- its a much better alternative than Skippy.
