MikeCFT answered Saturday April 1 2006, 3:39 pm: Theres 2 kinds of Vitamin A- Beta carotene and Retinol (the stuff that helps you with night blindness) Carrots are among the best sources for Vitamin A as a natural food but what has to be remembered is that Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is able to be stored in the body in contrast to a vitamin like C which is water soluble and any excess is just passed through the urine. Generally you need to be supplementing with very very high amounts everyday over a long period of time to feel the effects of Vitamin A or any other fat soluble vitamin (A,D,E,K) toxicity.
