I want to have nice arms, I have pretty big muscles already but theres also a lot of fat, how do I lose all that fat on there without making it muscle, I don't want huge arms.
The only way to lose weight without losing your muscle tone is to do cardio regularly (and eat right). This shouldn't make your muscles a lot bigger, just stronger. Even lifting, in moderation will help you develop lean muscle without bulking up. In short, if you exercise and cut back on calories you should get smaller, not bigger regardless of what kind of exercise you do.
Is it ok to ask the guy you like to prom on msn? I kinda work with him and we talk a little bit here and there. I think he likes me, but we haven't really hung outside of work. Would asking over msn be weird?
Get to know him better over msn, and then ask him in person. Most people would consider prom to be a pretty big deal so it would make sense that you get to know him better before you ask and then ask more formally. If it turns out that you ask him over MSN it's not the end of the world... but'll it'll be a lot sweeter if you communicate about in real life.

Tell him. From what you've said so far it sounds like he understands how depression works. He won't think you're crazy. Depression is a chemical imbalance, not a mental problem. If you have other people you can ask for help, do it. A friend, a parent, a school counselor. I know sometimes it feels ridiculous to be asking for help when "technically" nothing should be wrong. It's not ridiculous. I have the most amazing life and a month ago I was in a similiar position to you (thinking about suicide but thinking i wouldn't do it, cutting). Even then I lied to my therapist about cutting and suicidal thoughts because I didn't want to be a burden. Trust me, keeping those thoughts to yourself leads to nowhere good. Hang in there, and write me if you ever want to vent, cry, ask for help; i won't judge you.

I'll answer your question in a sec, sorry this first part is a bit of a rant. I just want people to be careful where they get their body image ideas from. am-i-fat.com is wrong, you're not overweight. According to the centers for disease control (who should know) 18.5-24.9 is a normal BMI and 25 and over is overweight. That said, I'm about the same build as you (16/F, 132 lbs, 5'2 1/2") and i'm trying to lose weight too (mainly because of sports). am-i-fat.com said i need to exercise more. i'm pretty damn athletic. i'm on the track team and compete competitively in other sports. So, what i'm saying is that you should rely on a mirror. Because of muscle/fat ratios it is impossible to give you a number. However, between the 120-130 range is probably healthy. Mostly though, I think you should shoot for a toned body. it's no good to be thin and flabby. In fact, if you're exercising a lot you may drop a size, but STAY THE SAME WEIGHT. So good luck with your diet, but don't rely on numbers too much.
I need help with a diet that is quick, easy, and exercise that I can do every day. I go to school, come home, go to work till 6:30 come home and do homework. Also I have a 8 month old son. So my schedule is already packed pretty tight. Is there anything I can do??? HELP!!! I weigh like 200 lbs. and im 5'6. HELP!
In general, try to make sure you're eating healthfully but if you want to lose weight exercise is essential. If you can fit in runs (can you afford a jogging stroller for your son?) that'd be ideal but if not just try to fit in any exercise wherever you can. It sounds obnoxious and trivial but really, take the stairs, park far away, carry your son with you (he gets heavy, no?), take walks with him, do squats, lunges or push ups while you're cooking or cleaning or if you ever find yourself standing around. Even if you just cut junk food out of your diet for a little while your cravings for it should disappear and you'll feel better about yourself. i promise.

jumping rope is great for pretty much everything. other plyos, like those rope ladders where you have to touch one foot between each rung or both feet and you go through them really fast are good for foot work (i can explain that better if you don't know what i'm talking about). As for abs, just do circuit abs (planks, side planks, bicycles, crunches, abs supermans, and the ones that work your lats for 30seconds each. work your way up to 45 seconds or a minute) every other day. I'm thinking that if you google 'ab exercises' and search past all the ads you'll find some good exercises to mix things up. For muscle in general, try running, and if you can, lift weights. Lifting makes a huge difference.
15/female.... i told this 12th grader i loved him and hes my rly good friend. he has a gf that i want to run her over with a bus!!!he says he likes me kinda but its just too complicated because hes afraid of what his friends will think and next month it would be illeagle* and im not mature enough (sex) meanwhile i would do anything for him b/c i love him soo much. did i make a mistake or did i do the right thing. we are going to hang tomorrow or saturday! should i give up on him??? please answer ill rate!!!
He obviously think's you're really cool but they dynamic just isn't there for a relationship right now. Not only is the age difference pushing things, he'll be graduating soon. You guys are in really different places, so just look around at the guys in your grade, i bet a ton want you and you just haven't noticed because you've been focused on your friend.
im planning on buying 6 second ab.. anyone who has/had experience, could you tell me if it acutally works like it says so on tv?
Just do regular abs; 30 seconds each of abs, crunches, supermans, planks, side planks, bicycles, etc. every other day, working your way up to 45 seconds/ a minute and spend your money on a new swimsuit to show them off :) If don't know many exercise besides crunches to work your abs just google 'ab workouts' or something similiar and i'm sure you'll find pictures and instructions.
How can I explain to my boyfriend that if his parents end up getting a divorce it isn't his fault?

....Last night when I was talking on the phone to my boyfriend on the phone he told me that he thinks his parents are going to get a divorce. He says that all they ever do is fight and that his dad has slept on the couch everynight for the past two months. He said that his parents haven't said anything about getting a divorce, but he can just feel it and his younger brothers and sister cannot. He is 17 and the oldest kid in the famliy and he feels like this is all his fault. He thinks he has put too much stress on his parents because:
1. He is the oldest and is never home. He is always out with his friends.
2. He almost died last year when he fell off the stairs at school. [infact he feels that he cheated death because he was falling head first and landed on his feet]
I need a way to explain to him that if his parents get a divorce it wont be his fault.
People think irrationally when they're going through a rough time but c'mon, how many couples have divorced BECAUSE of their kid? The most you can do is be there for him when he's upset, you may not be able to make things better but you can be his voice of reason. Try to do it positively of course but if things get bad (depending on what kind of person he is) you may be able to guilt him out blaming himself by pointing out that that's a little self centered. His parents may actually have problems that aren't about him. And always, remind him that the bad times don't last forever.
I've never had a real girlfriend before..I'm gunna ask someone out tomorrow and I know she'll say yes cuz I just do. I'm just afraid that I'll be nervous while we're going out..well not nervous just like "we're going out..now what" you know. Or I might try to act like different..idk What do I do?
If you know she's going to say yes then she know you will because she already think's you're awesome. So try not to over-analyze and if she's a cool girl you guys will have fun. If there is a little bit of awkwardness, don't worry about and don't let it freak you out. we all have those moments.
ok well im trying to shape up my claves and what i do is well like you know if you have a shower where u stand and stuff well like the little part before you get in is about like 3,4 inches high well i stand on that with the balls of my feet and like go up and yeah if i do 100 of those aday is that good or should i do something else to shape up my calves before summer if so what? and what else can i do to lose weight on my thighs stomach and upper arms. please help ill rate.
Calf raises are GREAT for shaping calves, try doing them in sets of 25; 25 normally, 25 with your toes pointing inwards, 25 with your toes pointing out (75 in a row, no breaks between sets). That makes sure you work all your calf muscles. In order to SEE results (depending on your build some of your muscle might be kind of hidden..mine definitely is- but i'm changing that) weight loss is definitely important so try to fit in regular cardio exercise. If you're eating healthfully a combination of cardio and, if possible, weight training, will tone your body very effectively. Just be patient.
p.s. Shape magazine has tons of good work outs and motivators.
my 8th grade graduation is coming up soon, and i'm really worried about it. I'm really athletic and tomboy-ish. (I DON'T wear boys clothes or anything, but i don't wear dresses or skirts.)
at graduation, we're supposed to be really formal and stuff. it's like prom, but maybe not so glamourous, you know?
my question is that i need help with clothes, hair, etc. i plan to wear a dress (and surprise everyone. where could i get a really pretty dress for a decent price? and hair/make-up tips would be good, too. (i don't know anything about make-up at all, HELP!)
If you have girly friends get ready with them and make them do your hair. A lot of make up counters at malls offer free makeovers that always look amazing (Benefit, Clinique, etc). Try and make an appointment at one and go with friends. Also, make sure you have polish on your nails.
does peanut butter help you lose weight? or is it at least good when your on a diet?
cause it is peanuts and peanuts are nuts. so shouldn't it be good for dieting?
protein IS good for dieters because it fills you up but peanut butter (any kind) gets most of its calories from fat. So even though it's fine in small quantities, no it's not good for diets. (This is true of nuts in general, they can be a good snack but it's easy to eat a lot at once and they're a high calorie food.) Shoot for lean-protein like turkey, tuna or chicken breast or a protein bar (check the number of calories and sugar content though).
I've got a simple question. Are most people with eating disorders already skinny? it seems only sticks become anerxic or belumic.

No, it's just that people don't usually notice eating disorders until the victim has become really skinny. Before then people just think "oh look she's normal sized/chubby/fat" or "Maddie lost weight! she's looking so much better" which only encourages the disorders.
I have a politics essay tomorrow, and we haven't been given the topic. However, I made up a few of my own topics so I could practice.
What I want to know is, if you have a essay topic like "Australia is more democratic than the USA" Can you give reasons why it is and it isn't? Or is it better to argue from one point of view? I've just been arguing from one point of view, but I'm not sure whether teachers always expect a comparison.
And in cases like "To what extent to both countries uphold democratic values?" do I have to argue one point of view too? i.e. they both don't, or they both do? I just want to know the right way to do it so I achieve the highest possible marks.

choose ONE. BUT, throw in some (not a lot, just a couple) facts about the opposing argument so that you can refute them. For example, "The US is democratic because of XYZ, but Australia has refined that system so that it better represents the population." Then explain why Australia's system is better.
So, my partner's parents/family have 'seen the bruises' and now think I'm some vest-wearing wifebeater and have 'warned me'.
How on earth do I tactfully explain what's really going on before I get the rozzers called on me?

Talk to their "litle princess". If you're truly not abusing her (which i belive because you wouldn't have asked otherwise) then the ball's in her court to defend you. ain't no shame.
My boyfriend (of a year and a couple months) and I broke up a little over 6 months ago. (we’ll call him K) But we’ve acted like we were still together up until 4 weeks ago. I met someone (we’ll call him M) a week before I went on vacation/work. (3 weeks ago) (I would talk to M everyday almost 3 times a day! I would also talk to K while I was out of town. K would tell me how much he loves me, he can’t move on and he doesn’t want to, he wants me to come back, etc. A few days after I got back M and I hung out and we got together officially. Now K calls me every once in awhile and we’ve gone out to lunch a couple days within the past two weeks. And the last few days I’ve hung out with him and his friends, and I’ve missed that. Now, about K, he has cheated on me…a couple times, but I seriously love him with all my heart. I miss everything. And I know, I’ve been told, once he has cheated, he’ll do it again and that I’m stupid for taking him back, but I really cannot help it. So, now M and I have been dating for less than 3 weeks and I feel bad because he’s into everything I’m into and he cares about me A LOT! And now I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried to write out each good and bad thing about each of them and I can’t figure out who I really want to be with. I mean, I do want to be with K, but at the same time M is there too. I don’t know what to do. If you have good advice, help me out! J I rate.. If this is too confusing or something, let me know and I can explain a little better.
You and K broke up for a reason. work on getting over him. it takes time. Fortunately you have time (i'm assuming you're not like, 80 here) and there are obviously other guys out there who will treat you well. Maybe you need more time to get over K before being in a relationship, or maybe you need to distract yourself by being in a relationship. Think about it. Just be careful not to lead M on, it's okay to let him know that you need to break up/move slow/ not get serious right now because you just ended a long relationship. Obviously don't say "because I still like K". It's fine to hang out with K still, just give yourself plenty of time to figure out your other options before you go back to him. good luck.
Well as some of you know i cheated on Scott, and after i did i felt really bad i cried. i am in a really tough spot here i am not a cheater i have never cheated before in my life this is the first time...now i don't know what to do..everytime i talk to scott all i can think about is what i did..and me and timothy keep missing each ohter's calls so we haven't talked since all this happend. i like both of why.i want to date both of them but i know i can't...i am supposed to go and see scott friday but i know i won't be able to look at him without thinking about what i did...and i dont even know how timothy feels about what happend....what am i going to do?
Good job trying to talk to timothy about it. Keep trying. But you're with Scott right now so focus on that. If you must tell him, do so but you'll just make him feel bad and chances are you'll be doing it more so you don't have to feel so guilty. If you think he's going to find out from someone else then consider having a serious talk with him before that happens. Meanwhile, just focus on why you're with him. And if you can't work things out or keep from cheating again then maybe you guys shouldn't be together.

Ask to talk to your doctor privately, so s/he can answer ALL your questions, not just the ones you'll ask in front of your mom. Tell her everything. Most doctors won't disclose information you've shared to your parents unless it is life-threatening. Ask about this policy before you ask other questions though so you can be totally at ease. Take care of yourself.
