ok im planning on workin out at the Y and i want to know how much time i should spend working different things like triceps, biceps, running, and stuff like that. so please if anyone has a time plan for workin out that is effective for them please say how much time you spend on each different thing. and please dont say stuff like you need to figure out your own or something like that or just give ideas, actually give one that you use yourself.
Thanks
Routines can be set up in very different ways. As mentioned below, how experienced you are will affect your routine. If you are new at this, a very common practice is to take a full body routine and train 2 to 3 times a week. Below I have included a sample full body routine which has two different sets of exercises each day. Whether you decide to train this twice or three times a week is up to you:
Day 1
Squat 3x 8-12
Romanian deadlift or leg curl, 3x 8- 12
Incline dumbell press 3x 8- 12
Pullups or pulldowns 3x 8- 12
Barbell curl-2x 8- 12
Crunches 2x max
Day 2
Deadlift 3x 8- 12
Bench 3x 8-12
Dumbbell or barbell rows 3x 8- 12
Overhead press or military press 3x 8- 12
Skullcrushers 2x 8- 12
Calf raises 2x 12- 15
For the first couple of months, the reps must be kept fairly high (as I have done above), and the sets must not be taked to failure (i.e. stop when you could still do a coupe of reps).
The workout should not take more than an hour. Also, the break between sets should be about one and a half to two minutes.
Good luck.
Let's say someone came to your class to tell you about World War 2 (while it was still going on) it was this woman, who would kill others and work at a concentration camp and when someone (like a classmate) asked her how she could do such awful things she answered "Me and my husband want nice neighbours and friends, and we havn't been able to buy a house until now. If we just work there for 6 more months we'll be able to keep the house and invite our neighbours and have a normal life! After that we'll quit!" you'd pretty much think the woman was selfish right? I mean she's killing people for a nice house! But then your teacher would say something like "hey you can't judge people before you've been in their shoes, how can you decide waht's morally wrong or right if you havn't ever proven that you can go against everyone, follow your conscience, even if that means losing your career, future, friends, money or anything like that?!" what would you answer to that? or like AGAINST that - to show that we actually do have a right to say what's wrong or right even if we havn't been in the exact situation! Cause I really believe we do, like I KNOW IT'S WRONG TO KILL, so why can't I make that judgment and say "she was wrong, because she killed" ?!
As with all ethical issues, everything is a lot more complicated than it looks.
Let me start with your teacher's statement. First of all it does not make a lot of sense and seems to have a lot of unrelated arguments strung together. I fail to see why making an ethical judgment is dependent upon your ability to stand "against everyone". I wouldnt accept that as a premise without a proper argument, which he has not provided. Is it his claim that weak willed people are not entitled to try to decide what is right and what is wrong?
Secondly, the first part of his argument involving walking in their shoes, is also dubious at best. Of course one should strive to try and understand why people do what they do. However, since everyone's situation is unique, his line of argument taken to an extreme, prevents us from ever making any sort of judgment.
As I see it, the only thing we can do is to strive to look at things from all aspects to the best of our ability. Courts work by this principle and pass judgments every day. Its not perfect, but its all we have.
Now, onto the far more complicated ethical dilemma. This is not a matter I can properly discuss here since it would fill many pages. However let me try and provide a brief overview of the problem.
1. Ethics are relative (as mentioned by the other person). The only true test of an ethical action is consistency according to a predetermined philosophy. E.g. if you claim there is such a thing as a right to life, it is unethical if you kill. If you claim that there is no such right, and you accept that your own life is also worthless, then you are not really acting unethically (you may be in conflict with the rules of a society, and may be subject to punishment, but you are not acting unethically as such).
2. There is a silver lining to this cloud. Most people (virtually all) who claim to have radical ethical beliefs, have not thought them through properly. E.g. Those who believe in survival of the fittest rarely accept being bullied by those stronger than they are. Humans tend to have very similar needs and expectations, making it possible to argue ethics with them, and to show that they are acting inconsistently.
3. Your premise "its wrong to kill" is probably flawed. I say probably since I dont know you, and perhaps you are being consistent. However, that is unlikely. Let me illustrate with a few questions. Is it wrong to kill plants in order to eat? Is it wrong to kill animals in order to eat? Is it wrong to kill animals or humans in self defense (when you would certainly be killed yourself)? If you answered no to any of these, killing is not always wrong. So what it boils down to is "when is it wrong". This point may vary from person to person and is hugely debatable. It may surprise you to know that, within philosophy, it is virtually impossible to defend killing animals for any reason (including food) without depriving many humans of their right to life. Thats a totally different discussion, but it puts the "when" in perspective.
So the woman is not necessarily being unethical because she killed. However one might derive two points, the first rooted in rights, the second rooted in utilitarianism.
- If she is acting ethically, the society created by her set of beliefs would find murder to be an acceptable means of acquiring wealth. It would follow that no person would have a right to life.
- If she is acting ethically, the value she places on life is very very small. If anyone accepts such a low value on life, they must also be willing to forfeit their own when someone else is trying to get rich.
Both scenarios create a society that is full of suffering and destruction. Both scenarios create a society that would not be able to function in the long term. In that way one can pass judgment upon her.
In reality a person like that would usually try to justify their actions through some sort of arbitrary distinction (e.g. its ok to kill Jews, but her life- or that of her race- is more valuable). Without going into it here, that type of argument is easy to take apart.
Anyway, sorry for the length, but I hope this does something more than just to confuse matters (in my own defense I am almost asleep as I type this). If you are interested in ethics try check out these links which will give you some insight into two of the main ways to approach the issue of morality:

i'm not a porn freak or anything, but everyone watches internet porn once in a while (i hope). i'm 15/f, and i was just wondering if girls enjoy cuming more than men...i mean, you see the girls squirming and moaning, and you hardly ever see the guy flinch. Is it that guys are more in control of themselves or something. i'd really appreciate ur thoughts
Yes I think the first answer is spot on. Porn is made for primarily for guys. The girls in the videos are very often faking it, or in the very least they are adding on a little extra to the sound effects :)
I have no idea which of the sexes experiences a more intense orgasm ordinarily (i.e. outside of porn where there is acting involved). Most guys are fairly silent though as far as I know. Maybe the female orgasm is more intense.
Another thing about porn actors is that they are doing it in very unpleasant conditions normally. You have 20 guys watching, with a spot light on you, and with a director that interupts you to shift positions and try different angles. I think this cuts out some of the enjoyment for both of the actors.
I think that I'm going to Germany with my school, and we've paid like a payment already. But all we need is money for lunch for 10 days (we're not going to be going to a nice restaurant every single day), and spending money. What would be a good amount of money to bring, do you think, so I know how much to save up? Because I have absolutely no idea how much money I should bring. If you have experience with a school trip to a different country that'd be great! xo
I think the first quote of around 500 dollars is reasonable. Its always good to take extra cash on these sort of trips.
Lunch should not run you up more than 10- 20 Euro or so, unless of course you are going to an expensive restaurant. If you count 20 Euros a day for lunch, that makes 200 Euros for your holiday. This is equal to about 270 dollars (note that there is a small mistake in the conversion below... as stated 1 Euro is 1.34 dollars, which makes 100 dollars equal 75 Euro).
whats a good workout to build up chest muscles and pecks.
Well good old fashioned bench pressing is very good. Flat, incline, barbell, or dumbbell, all the variants are very effective. Push ups can be pretty good too, but they can quickly become too light.
There are many ways to set up a routine. However, assuming the person is a beginner, start with 3 sets two or three times a week for 8- 12 reps or so. These should not be taken to failure (i.e. stop while you can still do a couple of reps). Then after a couple of months increase the intensity.
Here is a site with a bunch of exercises if you need to see how to perform them correctly:

I'm trying to broaden my horizons and find some Metal bands that appeal to me.From what I've heard it all sounds too similar and the singers always sounds like they're being savagely raped and/or having their balls slammed between a door. The closest I can get is doomy stuff like Black Sabbath and whatnot.
Personally most of my favourite stuff includes bands like Iron Maiden, Manowar, Judas Priest, Helloween and stuff like that. All have vocalists that range from competent to pretty good.
However, if you like the darker Sabbath type thing, you should be looking more towards Goth, Symphonic, and Black metal. Its a little hard to distinguish the boundaries of each category these days, but here are some suggestions:
Nightwish: Symphonic/ Goth. About as good a vocalist as they come. She was really something. Very dramatic style of music.
Theater of Tragedy (the early albums up to Aegis)
Tiamat
Moonspell
My Dying Bride
You can search wikipedia for the metal types I listed and they will provide you with a link to a list of bands.
Well my brother's computer has been running slow and it's not a virus because all our scans were clear and he barely saves anything.
What could be wrong?
I realise you said it isnt a virus, but have you also checked for other adware? If not try run something like spybot or ad-aware. Both are free and downloadable.
Other than the defrag I would also check the hard disk for errors just in case. You can find it by clicking on my computer, right click on c: if thats your hard disk, click properties, then select the second tab at the top.
ok i am 14 years old and i was wondering is it too late to get back into gymnastics. the last time i was in gymnastics i was around 7 and i was really good but then i stopped and i lost all my flexibility. but i taught myself how to do a back bend again in under a day and i can almost do a split again. but the deal is i am wayyyy out of shape. so yea im wordering with me being out of shape and my weight can i still get back into gymnastics again eventhough i learn quickly and i am still kind of flexible. thanks!
Look, it really depends on what level you want to perform at. Of course you are not too old to practice gymnastics. You can undoubtedly also become good (again). It would be misleading to say however, that you can achieve anything within that field. Female gymnasts tend to peak at around your age.
Take a soccer player as an example. If he takes a break during his 20s and then starts up again in early 30s he will never be a pro. He is taking up the sport a few years before the pros usually retire. That being said, he can still become a very good soccer player.
So, if you enjoy it, then by all means do it. If you put some effort into it, I think you will very quickly relearn the things you once knew. It sounds like you are a natural at it (and shape can be regained fairly quickly). I see no reason why, at 14, you should not be able to take gymnastics as a hobby and become good at it.
What do you do when your best friend is a lesbian?!?!?!?!
thanks in advance!
You dont do all that much. You continue to be her friend without concerning yourself too much with her sexuality.
The only time it should really be of any concern to you is if she begins to act inapropriately towards you. If she is a good friend, who knows you are straight, this should not happen (though if it does you need to make her understand what is and is not acceptable).
In the end it should be no different than being just friends with a guy. The real problem is getting accustomed to the change. It will take some getting used to, but you will probably come out ok.

im going to go on a diet & all these websites are saying to eat breakfast & i never do because i try to save calories or whatever. but anyways.. my question is what is the quickest, best things to eat in the morning that dont have many calories or fat? thank you!
In terms of being filling and really good for you I recommend oats. A bowl of oats in skim milk is a great way to start the day (even if it doesnt taste of anything). Oats are low on fat (and the fat they do have is mainly polyunsaturated, which is great), and they have a high protein percentage for carbs. A favourite amongst sports people and bodybuilders.
Other things that are great for breakfast include whole wheat bread, fruit, eggs (in moderation), egg whites, cottage cheese, even some lean meat, etc.
In terms of calories and fat, you are probably better off intaking a richer meal at breakfast than at dinner. So I wouldnt cut back all that much for this meal, I would rather make sure the things you eat later in the day are kept in check.
Okay, I REALLY REALLY need to lost my stomach fat REALLY REALLY soon. And don't say, no, you aren't fat, you just think that. It's not that I think I'm fat, but my stomach sort of sticks out and I kind of want a flatter stomach anyway. Is there a really fast way I can lose it? And I've tried sit-ups. Sometimes, it helps, but once I did it like, every other day for 3 monthes and it didn't seem to help. Our situp bench has an inclines slope too so it really hurts my back. Any other tips?
The reason sit-ups did not work is because they cannot do what you want them to do. Neither can crunches.
For the record, training every other day is plenty, you should not train every day. Without rest days muscles cannot develop. However, note that I referred to your muscles because all you are doing with sit-ups and crunches is building muscles.
Fat cannot be spot reduced. You cannot target it through exercise. Why does everyone choose to believe that a muscle owns the fat around it? They are totally unrelated. Doing exercise has 2 effects, it burns calories (overall) and it builds muscle.
In order to lose your fat you need to lose weight overall. There is no other way humans can do this. So, this follows that cardio and diet are key elements. You need a negative calorie balance for this to work, and so you need to pay careful attention to what you eat. Then, as you lose weight, you will also lose stomach fat. Whether one area is emphasised or not depends upon genetics not specific exercises.
So, dont waste your time with 500 crunches or whatever every day. Train your whole body and eat smart. Cardio is very effective here (running, stairmaster, sports etc). You get far more out of it than the puny calories you burn doing a situp. Not to say you shouldnt train abs as well. Exercising the stomach will tighten it up a bit. However, three times a week should be plenty and, if you do other kinds of exercise, even this may be too much.
Good luck, sorry if this isnt what you wanted to hear but it is the truth.
Hi, im 13/m and im planning on getting weights can someone tell me the suitable weight for me?
and also how many times i should do weights each day!
THNX
Ok first off, you should know advicenators is home of many myths, including "weight lifting stunts growth". Here is are a couple of articles discussing that myth if you are interested:
http://www.teenbodybuilding.com/derek42.htm
http://www.velocitysp.com/irvine/coverstories/Resistance_Training.html
Now that we have established that weight lifting is good for you, lets move to your question. First off, focus on free weights and on multiple joint exercises (e.g. squats, bench press etc). Im not 100% sure on how kids should train, but I have read the recommendation to stay in the higher rep range, say 15 or so reps per set. This can be good for beginners anyway since it will help condition your muscles and joints for the stress of lifting.
How often you train depends on your program. There are many acceptable splits with varying degrees of intensity. You can train your whole body not very intensively, three times a week. Alternatively you can split your body into parts which are trained very intensively only once or twice a week. As you can see the question is how many times a week, not how many times a day. Workout sessions take place once per day, and ideally should not be much longer than an hour or so.
A simple way to start is to make a short full body routine which is not intensive, and which you train three times a week. Say Mon, Wed, Fri. You can use different exercises on different days.
What I dont understand from your question is what sort of equipment you have available. Do you mean you are getting dumbells, barbells, an exercise machine, or are you joining a gym? Depending on what you have available I could suggest a specific routine. Since I dont know exactly, here is a link to a decent routine (intended for the gym). If you dont have access to all the stuff, you can always let me know and we can work out a more specific program for you.
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=1008896
(note this guy uses different rep ranges, you should do higher rep ranges for 2- 3 sets or so per exercise).
Good luck.
Oh, and remember, if you lift weights you need a good solid diet (with frequent meals and plenty of healthy calories and protein for bulking), as well as plenty of sleep. You must give your body the tools it needs to repair itself.
What is a quick easy way to lose some Tummy flab below the belly button? i Am physically fit besides a very little bt of jiggle. i just want it to go away! any tips?
Oh dear not the crunch myth again...
Humans are unable to target fat loss through exercise. It is physically impossible for you, or anyone else, to lose fat from a specific area of the body. Doing crunches will build muscle, which may tighten you up a bit, but thats all.
Losing that weight is done through your diet, and through general exercise. The more calories you burn the better, so cardio and full body routines are superior to area specific exercises.
Of course this means that you will likely also lose some weight from other areas, since this is beyond our control. When losing weight your body will burn fat from all over, with genetics determining if certain areas are somewhat emphasised or ignored.
Sorry if this wasnt what you wanted to hear, but its best that you dont waste your time. Check out this article it explains things in a bit more detail than i can:
http://www.myfit.ca/archives/viewanarticle.asp?table=fitness&ID=57
Good luck
okay so i am finally over this guy that i have liked/loved for almost two years. Now there is this other guy that i am getting close to and we might be going out. But for some reason none of my friends are supporting me... and the reason they arent supporting me is because they want me to go out with my bff who is a girl!!! I have no clue what to do and i really need your guys help. I REALLY lie this new guy and all my friends to is talk shit about him to me. And right now my "BFF" tells me that she thinks this guy is using me because hes depperate. I dnt want to believe what she is teling me but idk. Should i ask the guy or just forge5t aboutit.....
Ok this is way too much "he said that she said that I thought that they said" sort of stuff:). Your friends have to support you on this, or in the very least they have to keep quiet. You are perfectly in your right to ask them to back off. Even if this guy is bad news (which I am not saying he is), your friend's role is to support and guide you, no more. The final descision is up to you.
So, yes, you should ask the guy. I have no idea if he is desperate or whatever, but I do know that you should beware the rumours you hear down the grapevine. Stay sharp, keep in mind what your friends said, but ask the guy out and judge the situation for yourself.
Good luck.
can anyone tell me when, where, [also what did he discover] "isaac newton" was brn? and why is he popular.. just wondering.. were studying about him in math.. and im really curious!!! please help me!!
This is really something that is best answered through google not advicenators. The "what did he discover" question cannot be answered in a just a few lines. Here is the wikipedia entry, which is pretty comprehensive:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Newton
is this a good poem:
We never truely know,
everyting about someone
No matter how hard we try
how many questions we ask,
all the conversations we have
We can never be completely sure
of who somebody is
and what they want
and how they feel
You can try your hardest
but in the end
you're still not sure
and you're left wondering
what it is exactly
that makes a person so appealing
maybe it's the way
that they keep you guessing
and wondering
about their true colors
and the person they are
and the person they'll become
Ok whether or not a poem is good is really a matter of opinion. Also, one should put it into perspective, and look at who wrote it, how old the person is etc.
That being said, I am not too fond of this poem. When I read it, too often I felt like I was just reading regular text that had been arranged in shorter lines. E.g. It could just as easily have been "and you are left wondering what it is exactly that makes a person so appealing". This is could just as easily be an excerpt from a letter.
Im not saying the whole poem feels like prose, but I do think it needs to have more of the characteristics/ poetic techniques that usually define a good poem. Im not talking about poetic form here (i.e. pre defined structure), which is totally optional, just of using more of the literary tools available (anything from symbolism to alliteration to use two random examples).
In the end the only true test for a poem is if it invokes an emotional response. I guess Im saying it has not done so for me.
That being said, I can see you are 14. I criticised your work as I would criticise a published poem, so you should not feel discouraged. For your age this is not a bad effort at all and you should definitely keep at it.
ok if a guy masterbates or jacks off and his cum gets on his hand and than he fingers a gurl with out washing his hand can or cant the gurl get pregnet and what are the chances if so
Yes I agree with the answer below. The chance is definately there. Its hard to say how risky it is, but that probably depends on how much sperm enters the vagina. Definately not worth the risk though, make sure the guy washes his hands :)
would running or jogging in place count as cardio?
and what are some fun, easy subs. for cardio, bcs i don`t seem to have the best of luck with going for a jog. i always get hurt, seriously, literally every time.
Yes running in place would, but its really hard to keep up for long. Its a very awkward motion to keep doing, Im not sure if its better for you if you are injury prone. Even mentally I think it will stressful in the long run (I think... havent tried it myself).
If you are able to join a gym, or to get your hands on one, then the stairmaster is really great as a form of cardio. Its also pretty hard to hurt yourself on it.
What about brisk walking? Normally running is better, but between running in place and power walking, I would take the latter. It does mean that you would have to keep at it a bit longer though to burn enough calories.
Does anyone on here know any Romanian? Or does anyone know of any free Romanian translators?
A guy sent me a message. And I'd like to know what it means. This is it:
Memorie proasta, prea multa beutura... Deci, intrebarea mea e... te cunosc sau doar am yo impresia asta?
Any ideas on what it means?
I am formerly Romanian. Your sentence means:
Bad memory, too much drink (*as in alcohol*)... So, my question is... do I know you, or do I just have that impression.
I totally am against Global Warming. And I did my research about it a few months ago, and I still take actions to stop it. Can somebody please explain to me why its still pretty cold even though its april and global warming is happening? I definetly dont remember it being this cold at this time year before.
Apart from what Theymos wrote, its also important to remember a few things. First, global warming deals with average temperatures. That means that you can still have cold weather, even weather that is colder than it was at the same time in previous years. Secondly, if global warming is happening (its not still 100% certain that it is), its still in the early stages. That means the effects should be relatively small.
