money for germany

Question Posted Tuesday May 22 2007, 5:27 pm

I think that I'm going to Germany with my school, and we've paid like a payment already. But all we need is money for lunch for 10 days (we're not going to be going to a nice restaurant every single day), and spending money. What would be a good amount of money to bring, do you think, so I know how much to save up? Because I have absolutely no idea how much money I should bring. If you have experience with a school trip to a different country that'd be great! xo

I think the first quote of around 500 dollars is reasonable. Its always good to take extra cash on these sort of trips.

Lunch should not run you up more than 10- 20 Euro or so, unless of course you are going to an expensive restaurant. If you count 20 Euros a day for lunch, that makes 200 Euros for your holiday. This is equal to about 270 dollars (note that there is a small mistake in the conversion below... as stated 1 Euro is 1.34 dollars, which makes 100 dollars equal 75 Euro).

Just as an FYI to maybe aid you in figuring out how much money to bring, German money is Euros.
1 Euro is currently = to $1.34 (U.S.).
For every $100 you take, it will convert to 134 Euro.
$500 = 670 Euro.

I got these figures by taking the amount of U.S. dollars multiplied by 1.34

I would bring about $500-$700 for both food money for 10 days and spending money.(You would have to covert the money to euros) Plus emergency money, for if anything happens or goes wrong.
