i get bit by so many bugs. i was told to have lots and lots of vitamin b. are there any foods that are really high in it?
You have to understand that there are several B vitamins in what's called the B Vitamin Complex and each serve a common purpose in that they are important for the formation of red blood cells and the advancement of the central nervous system, but each one in the complex also has different benefits. Such as Niacin which is important for skin health or B-12 which is huge in the formation of red blood cells. You probably never heard of it but Wheat Germ is among the best sources of B-complex vitamins, hot cereals, milk and eggs, green leafy vegetables are also good sources. Consider taking a B-complex capsule each day so you have all the bases covered. They're widely available and not expensive. Overdose is very unlikely since B vitamins are all water soluble.
I better add about getting B complex shots also. Since the B vitamin group is all water soluble, shots are not that beneficial because you're just going to pass whatever you dont use through you're urine anyway so its a very short term solution to a long term situation. People who need the shots usually are desperate for the vitamins and usually anemic...I don't think you're that seriously deficient so just modify that diet.
is it true if you have a spoon of peanut butter before you sleep it will help u lost weight?
No...Peanut butter is not exactly the greatest source of protein available and its extremely fattening. The actual fats of the peanut are ok, but the oil its in certainly is not.
im not fat, i just want to work out. i dont wanna get skinnier, maybe 1 or 2 pounds would be good but i just want to be healthy and excercise. im about 75 lbs. and i dont know what kind of exercises i should do, any suggestions?
Iam sorry but at 75 lbs there is no way that the fat in your armpit area is anything to worry about or even noticeable especially since I'll bet any amount that you're a female. You gotta lift weights, run and eat healthy...nothing special just a sound foundation with a little knowledge and a lot of discipline.
Nutritional drinks.
I'm going to the store tomorrow to get some.
Its my choice, but I'm getting some to help me gain weight.
I'm really skinny in my arms and legs and have a high metabolism.
Will they work? Are they healthy?
And like do you know any that are really good?
ANYTHING is appreciated.
Depends on what kind of "Nutritional" drinks you are talking about. If you're talking about Ensure or Slim Fast and stuff like that then that's automatically ruled out. On the other hand, protein powder supplements make an excellent fully nutritional meal replacement and depending on how you make them, can be used as a good snack to complement a fat loss or weight gain program. I recommend EAS Designer Whey for this and the chocolate flavor is best. Mix a scoop or 2 of that in a blender with whole milk, some reduced calorie chocolate ice cream, chocolate Cool Whip and ice and you have a very nutritional shake that really tastes great.
I was just wondering,
is vitamin water good or bad for you?
cause I drink a lot of it and I was just wondering.
Thanks
Well, everyone tried lol.
Vitamin Water is not what it claims to be really. It doesn't do anything to recharge you like the fancy label says it does, it just gives you a little sugar jolt that comes and goes. If you really want vitamins in liquid form, get a liquid multivitamin since the concentration is much higher and better for you. Stick to water, you're way better off.
what exactly is kinesiology? and what are some careers associated with it?
Kinesiology is the study of muscle mechanics and movements and how they respond using our kinetic energy.
Some careers associated with it are Chiropractics, Kinesiology (duh), Physical therapy, and last but not least, my current endeavour- PERSONAL TRAINING. Any good, credible personal training certification organization will devote a section of their test to topics in kinesiology. If the kinesiology interests you, I recommend you consider becoming a trainer, you learn a whole lot about the body with first hand experience on yourself and others.
I'm 13/f and i really want to gain weight before school starts in september. right now i'm like a 00/14 kids and i want to be a size 0. i'm an ectomorph, so it's hard to put fat on easily. What should i do to gain weight? (please dont say eat junk food, i want to be healthy too)
Impressive that you understand what an ectomorph is, and Iam very glad to see that you also are doing it for health reasons and not just for what most advice seekers want- "da six pakkk"
Yes, ectomorphs do usually have very high metabolisms and a hard time retaining bodyfat and lean muscle. This is evident with the difference between a Mesomorphic bodybuilder's physique and a bicyclist's ectomorphic physique. If you feel the bicyclist's muscle when it is not flexed, it is still very hard and grainy, however if you feel a bodybuilder's muscle unflexed, it is soft until flexed and then it is not grainy; rather a fully muscle belly.
There really isn't any fancy wonder methods in order to gain weight- you simply need to eat more and do it more frequently. Add in slow digesting low Glycemic Index carb sources such as Oatmeal, grain breads and my favorite for putting on size- PASTA and eat a whole lot of it.
Peanut butter is excellent for weight gain, especially when you have 2 big peanut butter sandwiches a day in between meals with 2 BIG glasses of cold whole milk. I cannot stress enough how good milk is for this- it is like liquid gold.
Get away from the "I Want to be a size 0" idea and move towards asking yourself how you can put on quality mass and then learn how to manipulate your diet to help shape the mass you gained and how to keep it for the rest of your life and not just this "Size 0" fad. Do it for your health and do it because you love it. The cosmetic benefits come along wayyy down the road. Stay consistent on your diet and lift weights, you'll get there.
Which magazines do you read? I am open to anything and trying to decide the best news/music/entertaining magazine.
I subscribe to Times, Ellegirl and Jane. I don't know if I should continue my subscriptions to Mad Magazine, Blender, Seventeen, and Teen Vogue. Comsopolitan seems interesting..
Also, if anyone read Ms. or Bust and liked it, please review them for me, thanks!!
I recommend reading things that are SORELY lacking among teens, extremely interesting, educating and actually advances one's IQ in most cases-
1. A Newspaper
2. A Book
For a newspaper- Can't beat the NY Post- gets through all that liberal mainstream bullshit and presents ideas and opinions that actually are sesnsible.
For Books- Catcher in the Rye, The Exorcist, something which stimulates thought.
Ok Ok Iam guilty of reading a magazine or two also :-)
Flex magazine and GamePro are my two of choice so I guess everything I said about IQ is out of the question for me :-)
Okay, well I have fat.
Obviously,
but like I have ab muscles,
I can feel them,
but they are under a lot of fat.
Its the same things with my hips, thighs and upper arms.
I know running burns fat, but is there anything else that works as well? How about jumping rope or something? I just hate running. Any help would be much appreciated.
Hey, I despise running and Iam a personal trainer but you gotta do what you gotta do right?
If you Half-ass everything then it isn't going to give you optimal results. Jump rope unless you do it non-stop for an hour and a half isn't going to give you anywhere near the same results as a 10 minute run. Stop complaining and go and break a sweat and be thankful that you have the ability to run in the first place.
i heard that drinking green tea can help boost your metabolism, but how much green tea would i have to drink for this to happen? i'm 14/f
You're way too young to worry about using metabolism boosters and antioxidants whether they're natural or not. You don't need it, at 14 your metabolism is already in the state that people who are older who drink green tea want theirs to be in, and until you stop maturing it is going to stay that way.
All you have to do is eat healthy and let your body do it's thing without the aid of any "Boosters".
I know green tea boosts your metabolism, but I also have heard if you eat a tablespoon of peanut butter before bed, it helps boost it too. Is that true or just total BS?
I'll save you the explanation-
Myth.
uhh how bad is drinking for you actually? I'm 15 I drink almost every day but I'm pretty much an honor student so I don't get it what's so bad with it?
To give you an idea, everytime you get drunk you lose the equivalent of 2 weeks worth of high intensity workout sessions.
Is it true that a person can become skinnier but still weigh as much as they did when they where fat? Like that whole "muscle weighs more than fat", is that true? So, could I be skinny but still weigh a lot on the scale? Please explain that concept to me. Thanks!
P.S- I am 14/F if you need to know that;)
Also, I am about 145 pounds and 5ft 4in.
It's absolutely true. Here's why:
Like the rest of our body, muscles are comprised of about 72% water and when your muscles grow from working out, essentially what has happened is that water and muscle glycogen have been forced to be retained inside the muscle belly; hence the increased size. This of course means that the mass is heavier than the lipids which make up bodyfat which contain less water. This is why Iam always saying that weight is deceiving and the mirror is a better tool to measure progress.
I'm not asking this question to be funny or to play stupid, but I'm actually really curious. I've been wondering for a while, when you lose weight, where does it actually go? Does that make sence? Thank you.
It has to leave the body somehow and mostly it is through simple elimination. The only vessel which anything in our body can travel in to be eliminated is in water and that is why for dieters especially water is crucial. Excess sources of energy stored as bodyfat from carbs and fats are utilized and the rest of whatever elements we could not use is excreted through urine and feces.
What should I buy,
Prey for xbox360 or call of duty 2 for xbox 360?
they're both 60, but whats a better deal?
Call of Duty is the best out of that one. Keep your eyes peeled in the distant future for Halo 3.
Okay so heres my question and sorry if its a long one.
I'm a rather active 14 year old female. i eat healthy most of the time and try my best to take care of my body. lately i have been experiencing pains and aches in my bones and joints. i also get muscle aches but that is very rarely.
I have let my mom know and she claims that it is because i dont drink enough milk.
i do admit that i dont drink alot of milk but i do eat other things that have calcium in them.
but i think theres also a chance that it might be growing pain. considering that i havent really grown in three years.
So my question is do you have any idea why i may be experiencing pain?
Kait♥
Even as a female, you are much much too young to be having clacium deficiency problems at this age. Your skeletal structure is changing and you don't have to worry about calcium deficiency problems until you're at least 60. Your pain won't go away if you drink more milk.
Your reason for pain maybe be the inordinate amount of pressure you are putting on your joints and ligaments, especially if you're always running and jumping. Go to the vitamin store and ask for "MSM Glucosamine" which is for joint health and is all natural. This should help strengthen those joints.
what is the amount of calories per day that is healthy? like how many calories a day should you have?
please&thankyou
Keep it between 2,000 and 2,200 and you'll be fine.
I'm going to try to become a vegatarian. I just want to try it out and see if I can live without meat. I heard it helps lose weight. I AM NOT GOING TO BE ANOREXIC! I'm just not going to eat meats. I know meat has a lot of protein, so besides meat what are some healthy foods that have protein?
Proteins are funny because unless they're a complete protein with all essential amino acids, they're really useless. For natural food, there is no better protein source than eggs- they contain all of the essential amino acids needed to form complete peptide bonds and insure muscle tissue growth and repair. Vegetarians have it tough because they need to learn how to combine protein sources to make what is called a Complete Protein. Some ideas are-
-Rice & Beans
-Spaghetti & Cheese
-Cottage cheese & Fruit
-Fruit & Yogurt
-Eggs with any other good protein source
There is one thing on a vegetarian's side unless they are Lacto-ovo-vegetarians and that is their option to eat fish. Other than eggs, fish contains the best protein for a natural food source. Tuna, salmon, lobster, clams- they're all good and contain good Omega 3 and 6 fats that we all need. Vegetarian or not, you need to supplement with a protein source that comes from animals such as Milk. Now would be a good time to also invest in a good multi vitamin and a protein powder for further supplementation of protein and nutrients. Can't live without protein and you might as well take advantage of modern advances in nutritional supplementation.
I have to take medicine throughout the day. Recently, I was told I should start taking a Calcium supplement, in addition to my other meds. My questions are: Does taking calcium along with another pill lessen the strength of that other pill? Is there a difference in taking calcium in the morning as opposed to at night? Thanks-
No, calcium is a natural supplement and should have no effect on any medications. Morning is the best time to take youre supplements.
can sucking on ice really burn calories?
Everything burns calories, whether it be blinking, sitting, sleeping or just sucking on ice. Does it burn a lot? No, but at least it does something.
