boosting up metabolism

Question Posted Friday July 21 2006, 10:11 pm

I know green tea boosts your metabolism, but I also have heard if you eat a tablespoon of peanut butter before bed, it helps boost it too. Is that true or just total BS?

these are both myths. your metabolism is highest after excersizing and eating. inorder to burn more calories and speed up your metabolism get as much sleep as possible and when you wake up DONOT skip breakfast. this early morning meal helps tell your body "hello im awake start burning calories." lol. skipping meals tells your bodythat it is going into a state which it may not eat soon, even though you know tat you will eat again your body doesnt know that so it starts to conserve energy and your metabolism slows wayyyy down. so although green tea and peanut butter may not boost your metabolism exersizing and keepiong a healthy diet will. im sorry that my responce is so long;; i wanted to be as detailed as possible lol. i hope htat i helped you =))

Play Up Protein

Protein spurs one of your body's fat-burning mechanisms: the production of the hormone glucagon. Glucagon signals your body to move dietary fat into your bloodstream and use it for energy rather than just store it, Workman says. What's more, when you don't eat enough protein, your metabolism slows. That's because your body breaks down muscle to meet its protein needs, explains Cruise. And when you lose muscle, you lose a key calorie-burner.

Workman and Goglia recommend including 4 to 6 ounces of protein with every meal. (Four ounces of protein roughly equals the size of your fist.) Healthy sources include beans, eggs, fish, and poultry. Of course, you shouldn't just dine on protein foods: Consume plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Also eat two protein- and energy-rich snacks a day, like an apple with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter and I cup of soy milk, or 8 to 12 almonds sprinkled on 1 cup of low-fat yogurt, Goglia says.

I'm pretty sure thats a myth. Considering no food, can really help you loose weight. or whatever. But, having a healthy diet, & not skippy meals, makes your metablism faster. =)

hope i helped! bye
