Okay so heres my question and sorry if its a long one.
I'm a rather active 14 year old female. i eat healthy most of the time and try my best to take care of my body. lately i have been experiencing pains and aches in my bones and joints. i also get muscle aches but that is very rarely.
I have let my mom know and she claims that it is because i dont drink enough milk.
i do admit that i dont drink alot of milk but i do eat other things that have calcium in them.
but i think theres also a chance that it might be growing pain. considering that i havent really grown in three years.
So my question is do you have any idea why i may be experiencing pain?
more_than_a_feeling answered Wednesday July 12 2006, 4:07 pm: Sounds like growing pains. Keep eating healthy and getting some excercise. Add a little more calcium and vitamin C to your diet. Get enough sleep and take Tylenol or Advil for the aches and pains. They'll go away soon enough. [ more_than_a_feeling's advice column | Ask more_than_a_feeling A Question ]

Usually it hits children between the ages of 8 and 12, but I remember I experienced them when I was 13 or 14 years old and everybody is different. No one knows what causes it but there are some theories. It could be that youâ??re under a lot of stress, you are working out too hard, flat feet, or even simply being overactive. The symptoms are pains in the thigh or behind the knees (which can feel like it's the joints) and on rare occasions it will be in the arms. It usually affect both legs (mostly legs) or both arms (rarely arms), not just one appendage. If you aren't experiencing fever or red swollen joints than most likely it is growing pains. IF you are experiencing fever or red swollen joints or both, you need to get to a doctor. It could be something like juvenile arthritis, but it doesn't sound like that to me since you didn't mention it. The best way to take care of these pains is to massage the area, put hot packs on the area, or take ibuprofen. Some natural remedies are MSM (biological sulfur), glucosamen, calcium and magnesium. As far as Milk is concerned...The milk that is sold commercially is hazardous to your health. It has been proven to be a contributing cause in juvenile diabetes. It has also been proven to cause iron deficiencies in babies. Commercial milk has been processed to the point that the enzymes and natural vitamins are no longer in it. They fortify it w/synthetic vitamins that the body cannot absorb. Definitely not worth the effort. If you're going to drink milk it needs to be the raw variety. A growing number of people in this country are only purchasing raw milk for their families. The difference is amazing including the taste. Raw milk not only provides you w/essential vitamins and minerals but it also has enzymes and antibodies that will help you w/your joint issues. I have included some websites below to help you understand the issues at hand. Bottom line, your right w/regards to commercial milk. It will do you more harm than good.

Your skeletal structure is changing and you don't have to worry about calcium deficiency problems until you're at least 60. Your pain won't go away if you drink more milk.
Your reason for pain maybe be the inordinate amount of pressure you are putting on your joints and ligaments, especially if you're always running and jumping. Go to the vitamin store and ask for "MSM Glucosamine" which is for joint health and is all natural. This should help strengthen those joints. [ MikeCFT's advice column | Ask MikeCFT A Question ]

If it keeps up,I would see a doctor. And about the milk thing, maybe you should try drinking it more and see if it makes a difference.
