First of all, I'm 18 and if you're going to tell me I'm too young to get married don't bother answering. I'm very mature for my age and my fiance (Eric) and I have been together since we were 14 and 17. Anyways, Eric proposed to me in March of 2006. He is in the Navy, and he is living in Virginia. Right now, I'm still living in Michigan. I'm moving down to live with him in May. On June 9th we were planning to go to the Jusice of Peace and elope. We're doing this so that we can save our basic housing money (from being married) to spend on our cerimonial wedding that we plan on having on virginia beach sometime in august 2008. This is the wedding all our friends and family will attend.
The only problem, is that my mother is going psycho on me and keeps telling me not to get married. She says I'm too young, and that I'm going to ruin my life. She also says if we go toa Justice of Peace and get married she wont pay for ANYTHING for our cerimonial wedding next year, because she feels people should only get married one time.
Now I'm in a sticky situation. I really want to get married this summer so I can afford things easier and I know I should follow my heart; but I don't want to ruin my relationship with my mom. I KNOW I'm going to marry Eric, I couldn't picture my life without him.. I just wish my mom could see that and that she could see how happy we make eachother and accept our choices. What do you think I should do?! =( (link)
|
In my opinion, I agree with you and I think you should follow your heart. If you two really love each other, and he's a great guy who you can see spending your life with, then I think you definitely should get married this June.
I understand, you not wanting to ruin the relationship between you and your mother, but I think this is where you really have to go with what you feel is best. I know, eighteen may not be the oldest age, but you do have a right to do what makes you happy and comfortable. And sometimes, your mom isn't going to like what you're doing (that happens to all of us), but sometimes you just have to do what's best for you.
I would talk to her about it, and explain to her that you love her and you respect her opinion. However, this time you have to do what's best for you.
I wish you nothing but the best of luck, I'm sure that everything will work out for you! Congrats on getting married!

Okay, so I'm confused when to use an ice pack or a heat pad if you:
Sprain something
Pull a muscle
Muscle ache
Cramp
Feet hurting from walking too much
From wearing heels
From uncomfortable shoes
AHH!! I just don't know when to put what..help? (link)
|
Hi, this information should be very helpful.
WHEN TO USE AN ICE PACK…
Ice should be used within the first 72 hours after injury, whether you’ve suffered a muscle strain, sprain, bruise or tear.
If it’s a recent injury, and swelling exists.
Ice packs are more commonly used after injuries like ankle sprains and overuse injuries in athletes. To reduce bleeding into the tissues.
Never ice a chronic injury before an activity.
Icing after the activity will help control the inflammatory response.
Ice Treatments are more commonly used for acute injuries, reducing muscle spasms or pain by numbing the area and by limiting the effects of swelling, which can cause pain.
WHEN TO APPLY HEAT
When an injury is older than 48 hours, heat can be applied. Heat causes the blood vessels to dilate or open up, which brings more blood into that area. Heat has a direct soothing effect and can help relieve pain and spasm.
Heat treatments should be used for chronic conditions to help relax and loosen tissues, and to stimulate blood flow to that area.
Do not use heat on a new injury (for example soaking in a hot bath, using heat lamps, hot water bottles, deep heat creams, etc). These will increase bleeding and make the problem worse.
The rule is, don’t put heat on something that is swollen and warm…this will only increase these.
Apply heat to injuries before an activity.
Never apply heat after activities, and do not use heat after an acute injury.

Ok so, my best friend is going out with the boy i like and she knew i liked him..she would ask me everyday at lunch.."Do you still like Matt??" and every day i would awnser "Yes" and then she turns around and goes out with him what do i do??? (link)
|
I would definitely be talking to her about this, and see what she has to say. Explain to her that you don't feel right, having your best friend date the boy you like, after her knowing that you liked him. Listen to what she has to say, and then I would take it from there. Depending on whether or not you still want to be her friend. If you would like my opinion on what I would do, I wouldn't be her friend. Only because I feel that it's disrespectful for someone to do that to her best friend.
Good luck!

ok heres the story this guy who i barely know says hi to me every day and he sent someone who he thought was me a myspace that said wave like 32 times and he told me this so i was just wondering if anyone could tell me if this means he likes me or if he is just some stalker messing with my head and could someone please tell me what to do. (link)
|
In my opinion, I think he really likes you as more than a friend, so he's trying to tell you that. However, he may be a bit obsessed. But I wouldn't translate it as stalking. Only if he follows you around all the time, and leaves messages, emails, etc. 24/7 I wouldn't call it stalking. So I think you're okay with that part.
I would talk to him and ask him what's going on, and explain to him that you only want to be friends and nothing more (if that's what you want.)

I am 29 yrs old. I dont have any friends.I have a wonderful boyfriend who is very outgoing and confident.Every now and then he says I need to make some friends. I cant. What do I do, call some girl up and say will you be my friend?? How cheesy. I go out with him where his friends hang out but no one engages conversation with me.They do for a minute then go. I am an attractive person that is not the problem. But how does someone who was abused as a child, not allowed to have friends, phonecalls or sleepovers, and a 10 year marriage where I was not allowed to work or have friends, change and get friendships. It seems so out of reach for me.Help!!! (link)
|
First off, I am very sorry for your abusive past. And I have to agree with some of the others, counseling would be a good thing for you. He/she can help you overcome your problems and past, so you can have the bright future you deserve. I think this is the most important thing to do right now, and to do first. Here are some suggestions on making friends, when you're ready.
If you're currently working somewhere now, you could talk to your co-workers and ask them to dinner. Or to catch a movie, and you can all get to know each other.
You can try getting to know your boyfriend's friends, when you're all together. You can start a conversation over something that is happened recently, or something you may be talking about at that moment, and try to keep the chat going.
Joining events can help you gain friends too. Such as organizations, local events happening in your area, and church is an option if you're religious.
If you're close with your neighbors or even if you don't know them very well, you could invite them over for dinner to get to know them better. Neighbors can be good friends, of course, depending on the kind of people they are. But it still could be a good thing to do.
I wish you nothing but the best of luck, and again, I definitely recommend counseling to help you overcome your past. I believe it can and will work wonders for you. I'm sure everything will work out great for you.

ok so one of my best friends is jamie. jamie and alex(who is a boy) like each other but they're not going out because jamie doesnt like him that much. she still likes him though. well alex and i talk and flirt alot and i think i'm starting to really like him. i can't do anything because of jamie though and i dont know why this is happenign! i feel like such a bad person. what do i do? (link)
|
No, you're not a bad person at all. If you really like this guy, you should talk to your friend about it. Tell her how you feel and explain to her that you really like this guy. And see what she has to say, however, I would not base my decision soley on what she thinks.
After talking to her about, if you really want to date this guy, then that's what I would do. It's completely up to you, I say do whatever makes you feel more comfortable.
Good luck!

ITunes was having a problem with cd-dvd burner recognition...I reinstalled Itunes and problem went away......however, I checked Windows MEdia Player and it will not recognize my cd-dvd burners...what's up with this....... (link)
|
Step one, I would uninstall and reinstall Windows Media Player. And see if it works. If it doesn't, try going to, "My Computer" and clicking on your C Drive, and see if that doesn't work. Now, if none of this works, I would reinstall all of your drivers. I know, it's a pain, but it's your last resort, in my opinion.
Good luck!

Is there a DDR software for your computers. Like where the pads actaully are hooked up so you can see your score. I've head that some playstation games work on your comp, can the DDR? (link)
| |
Yes, there are PC games for Dance Dance Revolution to put on your computer. And yes, they come along with the dance pads. You can buy them anywhere, Walmart, Sam Goody -- if they sell PC games, it should definitely be there.

is it true? i need to kno how to get rid of the spyware that is messin up my comp. my friend told me it was aim b/c he had somebody fix his computer and find viruses. does anyone kno how? i dont think i can afford to have my entire comp fixed over. thanks (link)
|
You can buy Norton Anti-Virus Protection, but it can be expensive. Don't get me wrong, it's a great program and it works, but it doesn't stop the bad viruses and spyware sometimes. Especially, Trojans and Worms. However, there's always that chance of getting viruses and spyware, no matter the software installed.
You can get the protection free, with Windows Defender -- http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

I am looking for a job in my area for a 15 year old teenager. (link)
| |
Well, in most states you have to be sixteen to get a part time job. The only thing I can think of that may help you, are just local shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, they are probably your only hope. :(

First off, I ask you if you're going to diet, please do it being healthy and with proper exercise.
You can find out your BMI, which will tell you if you are underweight, overweight or at a healthy weight considering both you height and age. This can be found on www.seventeen.com In their "Healthy" category.

Is it safe to put a picture of yourslef on your advice coluum? I dont really trust the internet... (link)
|
I see myself while reading your question. Because I am so cautious about the internet, and displaying any type of information. However, I have become better about it. But I'm still safe. I think that's the medium you have to meet. In order to do that, you don't really have to trust the internet or the people on it. Just as long as you do not display personal information. Such as name, address, phone number, etc.
I don't see anything wrong with it, in my opinion. I mean, I personally, would not put my picture on just any website, but on Advicenators I wouldn't see a problem. Not that only certain people access this site or anything, but it's not one of those sites that want every single bit of personal info you have. So I think you're safe, just as long as you don't let out any personal information.
Lastly, I do have to commend you for caring about internet safety. It's very important, and unfortunately, a lot of people don't see that.

I'm going to be wearing high heels [3 inches] for the first time tomorrow.
I can balance..
Is there anything I should know about wearing them?
Like.. how do I get up stairs and stuff without getting the heel part off?
I really dont want to fall or slip. (link)
|
Yes, I do have some advice for you on walkling in heels.
Always stay on the ball of your foot while walking, no matter the surface. This keeps your balance perfectly, as long as you can hold it. However, I do have some suggestions on different surfaces.
Boardwalks that have the bits of seeping, where the heel can easily fall through the cracks -- Always stay on the ball of your foot, and walk directly in the middle. You have to do it the supermodel way, one foot in front of the other. :)
Grass -- Again, always stay on the ball of your foot and one foot in front of the other.
Now, to what can be the most difficult...dare I say, stairs! Walk sideways, meaning, your feet turned to the side. Rather than walking straight. While staying on the ball of your foot, and you should be just fine.

so I was walking with my guy friend and he had his arms around my hips and he said "you have a tight hip."
what does that mean? is that good or bad? was he saying it literally or like "that's tight" kind of tight? haha thanks (link)
| |
It means, that you have good hips. So it's definitely a good thing. Just like some people will be talking about a particular thing, and respond with, "that's tight!" It's the same thing.
