uisforukelele answered Thursday January 25 2007, 9:12 pm: based on the curriculum at my school, yes. ninth graders generally take algebra 1 as a regular class, and eighth graders have the option of taking algebra 1 as advanced placement. when i was in the seventh grade, i was taking prealgebra, which was the most my school offered. LadyH answered Thursday January 25 2007, 12:37 am: Depends on the state. I believe most people took Algebra 1 when they were a freshman in high school at my old school. So compared to some states, I'd say you're ahead by a year or two. [ LadyH's advice column | Ask LadyH A Question ]
xBaByDoLLx3 answered Wednesday January 24 2007, 10:50 pm: It depends on where you live, what state, etc. Like at my school, Algebra 1 in 7th grade would be considered in the "gifted program" & also known as "6 track". So yes, it is usually considered advanced.
Some high schoolers even take Algebra 1. [ xBaByDoLLx3's advice column | Ask xBaByDoLLx3 A Question ]
KisaKiss19 answered Wednesday January 24 2007, 10:02 pm: yes it is, you usually take it in 8th and maybe even 9th grade (at least for my school) wow,7th grade? they deffinatly changed it so your learning things earlier. thats good :]. yes i do think its advanced
XoNeLLiE143oX answered Wednesday January 24 2007, 9:51 pm: It depends of the Board of Education for your state.
In the New York City Board of Education [I live in NYC], 7th grade is when you start to learn algebra.
So it really depends on your state. [ XoNeLLiE143oX's advice column | Ask XoNeLLiE143oX A Question ]

TARAfying answered Wednesday January 24 2007, 9:13 pm: No, I did that for a while but I did back down after a month or so. It was a little challenging for me at the time, but a couple of my friends completed the class fine. So it all depends. Good luck. [ TARAfying's advice column | Ask TARAfying A Question ]
queenhearts answered Wednesday January 24 2007, 9:08 pm: Well, did you have Algebra 1a (or was it called 1B in your school) ?
It's best to have that class first and you should have.. had at least a B in that class.
Algebra 1 would be fine if you passed the previous class.
Some people had to retake it though. Including myself.
You just have to be prepared and remember forumlas, and whatnot.

It is advanced. Not many people get that class in 7th grade.
xokristabelle answered Wednesday January 24 2007, 9:07 pm: Where I live (CA) it is normal for sixth grade Prealgebra and 7th and 8th grade Algebra. The only people who aren't are those who have repeated a class. So, no, I don't think it's advanced. [ xokristabelle's advice column | Ask xokristabelle A Question ]
