Many religions believe that the world is going to end soon, and we are living our last days because of all the crime, hate, and everyone being open about their sexuality, what are your opinions on this?

Heartwhisper answered Sunday January 1 2006, 5:31 am:
Not being religious, rather spiritual, I do see how humanity has created much darkness on a planet, one that was created to be a 'classroom' where souls could more quickly(but not more easily) earn vibrational points up the eternal ladder. I believe that we have yet to reach that point of no return, for there are many 'aware' people and more awakening every day to live life from their hearts. I see my heart as my soul and if I allow it to guide my choices, I'm on a path of bringing change/evolution to life on earth. If I then am standing in my power, centered in my heart, I am doing my divinely guided part to bring life on earth more love, joy and peace. By example I surely will inspire at least one other to seek their highest path and that person will then in turn inspire another.... this ripple effect will eventually reach around the planet and once the scale of human endeavor wavers toward the good, good shall escalate quickly and earth's purpose realized. I suppose I could say much more, but I've said too much already. Blessings to you in your search for answers.

In the NIV Bible this is what it says

Matthew 24:3-

As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us" they said "when will thsi happen and what will be the sign of your coming and the end of the age?" Jesus answered "watch out that no one decieves you. For many will come in my name declaring 'I am the Christ' and will decieve many. You will hera of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes and in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains."

I Dont know what thsi means to you but I have tried to be as straight forward as I can because I cannot answer the question with my own word but only with teh words that are in the Bible that I believe to be true.

If you have any other question sbaout the Bible I will try to help you. Please feel free to leave your questions/comments on my column or on my mypsace www.myspace.com/aeae

DangerNerd answered Monday June 13 2005, 12:06 am:
Hello there,

Personally, I do believe that things are winding down to the end.

If you look at the financial picture of the world, things cannot continue the way they have been going. The economy of the United States, and the plunging dollar, are going to create chaos on the world economic market. This is already beginning.

There is a world-famous CEO by the name of Chuck Missler. He is considered an authority on world economic markets. He has degrees in physics, economics, and is widely respected by anybody who's ever heard of him.

This guy, with money of his own, chose to abandon the business world and devote himself full time to a very intelligent ministry for people seeking answers.

He did this, because of overwhelming evidence, in his mind, that the world will be coming to an end soon.

The guy is brilliant.

You can find his web site here:

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

... you can find many of the things he has to say in MP3 format if you have a filesharing client like Bearshare, Shareazza, lime wire or whatever.

Some of the stuff he has to say is a little hard to take it first. But I learned myself that if you want to argue with his research you better bring a gun. :-)

If you are looking for news and updates of things that looks suspiciously like a one world government forming up you should look at:

www.infowars.com

... the guy may be kind of a nut but he makes a good point.

To watch Christians arguing over when the rapture is going to happen be sure to visit:

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

... there is actually a great deal of worthwhile news on this site. Try to ignore the bickering and you will learn a great deal.

If you add all these things up, something has to happen. Something is coming soon.

I honestly believe, if you do the research that I have done, you will come to the same conclusion that I have. The evidence is overwhelming.

I wish you well,

DangerNerd.

it depends what you mean by 'the end of the world'. do you mean itll self destruct and we all will die, or do mean Jesus, God son will come and take his believers away to heaven? if you mean the first, whatever, like something like that would ever happen, if you mean the second, yes i think we have pissed God off and if he decided to kill us all then i dont blame him. but theres a way to escape from all of that destuction. if believe about the second you should read the book of reavelations {in the bible}, itll answer all your questions. if you dont, have you ever wonder if there was a God?? if you have i strongly advise you do some serious soul searching. wont it be awful if you were left behind? {not to preach at you or anything} pleze rate

The reason why the the different religions believe that is because the bible tells that Jesus will return, and he gives a general time. Nobody but God REALLY knows when the end of the world is going to be, but people assume that it is coming soon, because of what the bible says about the time period.
Hope I helped!

Well, most religions think they correctly translate things, but they don't. There is no way to really know when the world will end....unless you die, go to heaven and ask....no...wait...not even JESUS knows! only God does!! So any religion that says that is from a false source. or they are guessing.

hitler_the_goat answered Thursday April 7 2005, 8:29 pm:
hey, read "the dissolution of society" by Jack nagely, they're selling the last edition at Books-a-million for a dollar, it may help you catalog and arrange your thought patterns to better understand the dissolution that is approaching. a dissolution does not mean the end of civilization or humanity (unless the NATO alliance fails in the upcoming battle with the golden hegemony(china, north korea, etc.) or if the russians don't join the alliance. but you could look at the future in this way; most eastern religions believe that death just leads to a new form of life, so as this society breaks down, a new and hopefully better one shall emerge, unless W does something extremely foolish. unfortunatley for any western nationalist or complete asia-phobe, the chinese are looking to be pretty strong candidates for the building of the new world order. me, I intend to die before letting the Chicom's shock armies step foot on the western hemisphere.
semper fi, carry on.
-hitler
p.s.- we would be outnumbered nearly three to one even with NATO and the Rusians behind us, hopefully siberia does turn out to be the vast treasure chest of resources that it looks like, and that the russian economy can take the massive boost to improve her quality of life so that our former opponents can be strong allies in the defense of their motherland.

LoveJoy answered Tuesday April 5 2005, 10:20 pm:
First of all, people have been claiming that the end of days is near for, well, pretty much forever. John the Baptist was one such doom-sayer, and ever since people have been looking for signs of the second coming of Christ.

In my opinion, we still have many years left on this little rock.

However, I think there has been an increasing amount of strange, disturbing occurrances in the last few years, but I see it as an encouraging sign - all the darkness that had been sitting beneath the surface is starting to emerge in big, big chunks. While unpleasant, the end effect will be a world full of people who are more connected, more loving, and more in tune with each other than ever before.

I do not believe it will so soon. However, one day it will, without having anything to do with religion. What will make it come to an end will be something caused by nature. The sun is going ot explode sometime because it is a star and stars become novas and explode. Or it will come to an end because of the stupidity of people. We will either destroy the atmosphere, therefore, will have no oxygen or we will get into a nuclear war and blow up the world. However, it will not end because of crime, hate (except contries hating each other), or sexuality. Nevertheless, this is my opinion and this may differ from yours.

Missa8305 answered Sunday April 3 2005, 9:14 pm:
People tend to ingnore the fact that violent crime, intense hatred, and sexual promiscuity, among other things, is nothing new. It's been going on for centuries, and was probably just as bad then as it is now. Just take one look at the Old Testament. It's filled with records of war, murder, torture, and rape.

I think people think things are worse now, than before, because of the "good old days" mentality. The fact of the matter is, the good old days really weren't so good. People tend to forget the negative and just remember the positive. It's not that man is getting any worse, it's that our ideals are getting better. Our ideas of right and wrong are evolving, becoming more complex, though we haven't figured out a way to appropriately stop bad behavior.

I don't believe the end is near. (If it is near, it's not because of any ancient prophecy. We'll most likely either destroy our planet or use our technology to kill each other.) Religions have been saying, "The end is near" for centuries, even millenia. For example, early Christians thought that the end of the world was fast approaching soon after the death of Christ. Well, we've been waiting two-thousand years and it still ain't here yet. Guess I'll stop worrying about it and get back to living...That is what God intended, isn't it? For me to enjoy life while I'm living, right?

I would also like to point out one interesting fact. In the New Testament, it says that we will know the end is approaching when the stars fall from the sky and the sky goes dark. Scientists have told us that when a star burns out, we still receive it's light for 30,000 years, because of the spead of light. Therefore, even if every star died tomorrow, we'd still receive light for another 30,000 years. (Unless we were sucked into a black hole.) That means we'd still have 30,000 years to live before the sky went dark and Christ re-appeared. So, yeah...

all4u answered Sunday April 3 2005, 8:22 pm:
Yes, lots of religions do postulate that the world is going to end soon. Or that's how many people interpret the texts of the many religions. What's the end? In order to say the world is going to end, we need a specific definition of "end." This may seem pretty obvious, but the way I see it; as is much with any social construction the "end" is relative and is how we pervieve it.

Actually it's how we tend to percieve change. Does change mean the end of one element and the beggining of a new, or is it a continous phenomonen. For example are you a completely different individual than you were when you were two years old. Think about it, your thinking patterns have changed, even physically ... all your cells are renewed, so physically you have nothing exactly the same as when you were two years old ... but did you as a person end at a certain period?

I think we can extend this line of thinking to "the world ending" I personally think that the way things are now may not be forever, actually I know for sure, for everything is impermanent to the trees againg and renewing, to the seasons, to the way we think as individuals to the consitition of every matter on this planet. So Yes in a way the world is going to end, but not in the way as in "final" if that makes any sense. We may not be able to comprehend anything else beyond what we see and feel right now, but that does not mean the world, universe, time, what have you will all the sudden dissapear altogether ... think of physics ... does energy altogether dissappear? Nope, it just changes form ...

Just a little something to think about ...

If there is any kind of God/ess up there, perhaps he/she/they is/are tyring to flush us all out like God did in Noah's Ark. Lol, just a random theory. Perhaps the water in Noah's Ark was a tsnunami?
What I really think, speculation aside, is that there has always been crime. People are just more open about it now. I also think that there is no way the world will end because a few people have come out and said, 'I'm gay'. I think that will, if anything, make the world a better place because it will get people more used to the idea of homosexuality and perhaps, over time, eliminate (or at least reduce) discrimination on those grounds.
My religion isn't saying that the world will end. No offence, but what kind of religion says to their people, 'oh, you're all horrible, the world will end because of it'?
It's a scientific fact that the world will end one day. I personally believe that the fact that a very small percentage of the population are murderers, or rapists, will make that come any sooner. Besides, if you think about it, there ISN'T that much crime - it's only a very small percentage of the people of the world who have committed a crime punishable by prison sentence or death. We just tend to hear them all, so it sounds like it happens a lot. Admittedly, crime levels could be a LOT lower, but a lot of it is hyped up.
I think the main worry on people's minds should be how low our natural resources are, because without them we are effectively screwed. It's a pity that no-one really seems to realise that.
The world is going to end whatever we do. No offence to anyone here, but I think the theory that the world will end because of how many people we go around punching and throwing bricks at is utter crap. We could, obviously, end the POPULATION ourselves, through killing everyone, but dammit that would take an awful lot of effort, lol...if you ask me, the only way for humanity to end the world is for them to explode a few nuclear bombs.
Blessed Be,
Rach xxx

It is possible someone might blow up the world because of a bomb or whatever, but if the world ever does end, at least some of us have already found happiness.
