Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. This site helped me a LOT when I was in high school and had a lot of questions, and I'm here to help anyone who needs it :) Feel free to write in my forum or send me a question any time!

my friend i think may become anarexic because well she keeps saying that shes fat and shes not i whenver she says she is i tell her shes not but she doesn't believe me....do u think she might? what can i do to help prevent her from getting more to thinking this?

Just to clear something up, the first person to answer, michelle, or whoever, is soooo wrong. Just because somebody thinks their fat doesn't mean they're anorexic. I should know, I was anorexic for 2 and a half years. It's when you don't eat, or when you are severly underweight. Now, if she eats, or if she looks at a healthy weight, she's fine, but if she starts to lose a lot of weight, then thats when you start to worry. Most likely she's just thinking she's fat. Everybody thinks they are fat at one time or another, it doesn't mean they are going to become anorexic. Don't worry unless she starts to drastically lose weight, then stick one in my inbox, and I'll really help you. To prevent her from thinking that, compare yourself, be like, I wish I weighed what you did! You are the thinnest freakin' person I know. You lose any more weight, and you'll... well I don't know what you could say to finish that off, but you can think of something. Good luck with that.

Im female im 13, im 5`5 and i was 123 lbs .. is that too much ? i mean .. i dont look like i weigh 123 lbs at all .. but i dunno kus my docter said its a little over average.. what can i do to lose like 5-10 lbs? plz help

You can go jogging or walking for about 10-30 minutes everyday after school. You can eat like breakfast(most important) lunch, snack, dinner, snack. And the snacks can't be too big. Like if you want ice cream as a snack make sure it's only like 1 or 2 scoops, not too much, especially of fatty foods. well my older brother is think of moving to flordia with his dad and im not sure if im ok with it cuz me n him are really close and i dont want him to move. and ideals what i can say to himm?

Tell him how you feel. Most likely, he'll ask you how you feel, DON'T shrug it off, tell him that you'll miss him, and that you don't want him to move. And if you live in a state close to Florida, then visit!! Hope this helps.

Does anyone know any really good books about stuff like romance, death,depression, all that fun stuff. i have already read the lovely bones and it is my absolute FAVORITE book. nothing to happy...but does anyone know a really good book that has the same kind of mood as the lovely bones.
Oh yeah...and P.S. there is this one book my friend was telling me about where this woman loses all her money and sells her daughter to this prostitute house. its called like "reading me love" but i could never find it...i dont even know if thats the title!! Thanks.

The Princess Bride, Romeo&Juliet, She said Yes. Thats about all I can think of. The 1st one is a movie, the second one is a play, and the 3rd one is an biography about a lady who loses her daughter when her daughter has a gun pointed at her face, the daughter says yes when answering the question do you belive in God... So it's really sad (I think it is) And you've probably heard of the second one. Watch The Princess Bride, or see if you can find it in book form. Also, A Walk to Remeber is a movie & book, that's sad.

In drama class I have to do a mimeing skit thats at least 45 seconds long...but I'm not sure what do, if any of you have good ideas or some websites it would be very helpful!

mow the lawn. It's very easy. I'm in theatre, and ours had to last at least 3 minutes. Be glad yours isn't that long. You pull the mower out of the shed. You put gas in it. You start it (make it take 2 tries) and you mow. It's not that hard. Or you can make a pizza. And throw in a funny twist, where you drop the pizza or something. It's funny, a girl in my class did that, and she got extra points. Good luck with it.

Ok: so i love scary movies... spook houses, and doing the ouiji board. I live down in the basement all alone and after seeing freaky movies... like Saw I can't sleep. I think that there in my basement gonna come kill me.. and even though I'm 16... i still sleep with my t.v. on all night... even though I can't stand a speck of light in the night i LOVE watchinng scary movies... but i get so scared I sometimes cry! What can I do?

I'm the same way. After watching a scary movie, I always put in a funny, or sad one. Like after I saw The Grudge for the 1st time, it made me soooo scared of Japanese people (odd, I know) So when I got home, I fell asleep while watching the DVD A Walk to Remeber. (I saw a very late showing of the Grudge, like a 11:00pm (not that late, but you get what I mean) So watch a funny or sad, or fantasy type movie before going to bed. Or listen to the radio, or since it's almost christmas, go to bed with your CD player playing christmas songs. Do something happy after the movie, and then you'll sort of forget about it.

i am the girl that said she was anarexic for six months and was 5'8 and 13 years old... i now weigh 120 pounds cuz i checked into a hospital and they made me gain ALOT of weight... is 120 to fat for a 5'8 13 yr old? my doctor said that that is how much im suppost to weigh since im so tall... but is that still to much?

If it's anything, then it's too little. I mean, 130 is probably your high limit. Don't worry unless you get to like 130-135. Right now you're SKINNY!!!!

where is the best place to get thongs other then victorias secret

pretty much any department store. My two favorites would be Forever21, and Charlotte Ruesse. But you can get them at wal-mart, target, sears. Not all langerie comes from Victoria's Secret, it's not the best place in the world for sexy clothes.

in my opinion, the screen name. That way you can talk to her on IM, get to know her a bit more through that. Then eventually, it'll come up where she'll give you her cell #. Just be patient. But yea, the screen name would be a better choice.

Ok, the guy i like is like 5 feet. give or take a few inches. And i'm like 5 8. It's a HUGE height difference, and idc about looks, but i dont want ppl making fun of him b/c he's going out with a giant or make fun of me for going out with a midget. We're both in 7th grade. It's your opinion, and only yours that counts. If you seriously like this guy, go for it. Who cares what others think. I mean, eventually you won't be the talk of the school, something else will happen. Hey, I was the talk of the school for about a month, and it wasn't the good talk, and yes there are still a few people who won't let it drop, but you have to not care what they say. The reason people talked about me and what happened so much is because if somebody mentioned it, I'd blush, and tell them to shut up. One of the guys talking about me said if I had just ignored him, and didn't show it got to me, he probably would've stopped. So seriously, just go with the way you feel. Don't worry about the others.

How come my column wont become updated? I tried changing everythig on it and answering new questions, but where it says last updated. it never changes. How can i get it 2 change?

try to refresh it. There might be something wrong with the server. Every now and again, this site experiences glitches. If it still doesn't work tomorrow, ask advicenator_admin about it, or MFS, they are both L3, so they can probably help.

has anyone failed their permit test? i am going to get mine this friday and i was just wanting to know what i should expect. like, what kind of questions will they ask? i know people say they are just common sense questions and to choose the answer that they would think and not what you would think. lol..i know thats confusing but..i was just wondering what questions that it asks. thanks!

Mostly road signs. My sister said it was a very easy test, but she also was studying like crazy. Just study all your notes and stuff from drivers ed. It won't be that hard. I mean, you took a class for it (well, where we live you have to take drivers ed before getting a permit) Good luck with that though.

i started dating by best guy friend ill call him "bob" well we where in the same core classes last year and now he is only in one class so we started flirting alot and he finally ask me out and i said yes! well we had just past our one month anniversity when he broke up with me he said that he knew that i thought it was weird going out with my best friend but i really wasnt thinkin that, so he dumped me! well i was crushed and he is in one of my classes but we see each other alot so what am i supposed to do ignore him or just pretend that nothing happened?

Well, maybe that's how he felt, so he made an excuse saying that's how you felt. Don't do either, don't ignore him, and don't pretend nothing happened. Act how you did before you dated, but act how you feel. I mean don't go all over him, but act how you feel is appropriate. I've never really been in that situation, so I can't help you as much as I'd like to. But don't ignore him, and it'll be weird for him, and probably for you too, if you act like nothing happened. I mean, your friendship might not be as strong, but you can still hang out together. Good luck with that.

ok..this question is kinda stupid but i was wondering if anybody knew how to make holes in jeans that look like they were made like that thnx!..i rate

you can use razors, sandpaper, or you can get them done. I've heard that some places will do them for you. Like American Eagle might. I know that Æ Has a lot of jeans w/ holes anyways. Same with Hollister, and Aeropostal, and maybe places like Forever21, and Charlotte Ruesse, but probably not those 2. It'll be easier to get them professionally done. My opinion, don't use scissors, those really ruin them (I've tried, and friends that work at Æ told me that.

I showed my friend how to use this website and how to become a columnist, b/c i thot that she'd be awful at it. But now ppl are asking her direct questions and not me. And i dont want to be jealous, but i'm the first one who was here and now she's taking my place. What should i do?

As the other's have probably said, or should've said... just answer more public questions. Another way to get started is to ask yourself questions, and answer them. You can't rate yourself, and, it wouldn't matter because ratings on private questions don't count. Answer as many public questions as you can!! It's not a bad thing that she's helping people. Everybody needs help on one thing or another. And the more people that do good on this site, will rule out the jerks that shouldn't be here. Just do as much as you can to answer public questions. Hey, atleast you'll be a moderator first (if your rating is up) Why would you help her be a columnist if you thought she'd be aweful, that is rude. And we have enough terrible advice givers. That isn't even being a good friend.

Um...okay, I have to wear a helmet to ride on rollerblades, a skateboard, and a bicycle. It sucks. I was wondering if anybody knew of a way I could convince my mom to let me ride without a helmet, because mine is really big and it has this visor, and I don't really need one. If this is a lost cause, which I think it is to tell you the truth, is there any sort of helmet that actually looks okay? thanks in advance

Well, where I live it's against the law to ride anything w/o a helmet, even a regular scooter. Witch I think is a bit stupid, but it's the law. So really, you can go to a sporting store, or if you shop cheap, wal-mart. They should have normal helmets.

For a school dance I'm the music person...one problem I dont know what to play.
