14/f 9th grade
ok so ever since like 5th grade i was SOO excited to go to higschool and well now that im in it, its like NOTHING like i expected it to be and well i hate it. I guess you could say i'm kind of like a floater...i dont really fit into a crowd really and well it sucks, and i'm almost failing all my classes because all the homework and classwork is so overwhelming and i'm not used to it. But will it get better? Because i dont want to be floating around highschool all four years. And how was your first year of highschool?
I know exactly how you feel. I started high school this year also, and I really hate it. I always thought it would be some amazing place where you could be independent and people would respect you more, but I find that I have no classes with my friends, I'm getting terrible grades, and everything is so 'serious'.
But you'll get used to it. It's a really big change from middle school to high school, and I guarantee there's tons of people in your grade who feel the same way. You just need to really focus on setting time aside for homework. Plus, you're starting a new school and meeting tons of new people-- a great opportunity to start friendships! Start talking to people in your classes, and eventually you'll make friends. There's this one girl who I sit next to in a few classes, but I was always too embarassed to say something. A few days ago, she comes up to me and says "Hey, you're in my band class, right?" and now we chat a few times a day.

A few weeks ago I saw a girl with a pretty big bag/purse that had navy and white stripes on it. It looked worn (like it was supposed to be that). I'm pretty sure it was a dooney and bourke bag, but I am not totally sure.

What's a good idea for a group of 3 girls to dress up as for Halloween? thanks!
Me and my two friends are going as Peace, Love, and Happiness. Think matching outfits, with 'peace' wearing a giant peace sign on her shirt, 'love' wearing a giant heart, and 'happiness' wearing a giant smiley face.

I don't know your mom (obviously), but my mom's favorite book of all time is Gone With the Wind. It's really a timeless classic.
Try to hint around to find out what her favorite book when she was younger was. See if you can find the book, bonus points if it's in a new, special edition version. It'll definitely bring a wave of nostalgia back and make her know that you really listen and care about what she says.
Try saying, "Aw, remember (insert book that you read when you were little)? I loved that book. What did you used to read when you were little?" or something. It might seem a bit obvious, but since Christmas isn't for a few more months, she'll forget about the conversation, probably.

at night i cant go to bed!! my mom wont let me take any medicines cuz im only 13. "happy thots" no longer help. is there any programs or something i can get to help me sleep. i got this sleeping cd to help u sleep but i get scared still..ive had this my whole life and i get scared SOO much!
It used to take me a long time to fall asleep also. This yoga instructor once taught me this trick that actually works for me, though. What you do is clench your whole body, from your shoulders to your fists to your toes, hold for about 5 full seconds, then release. As you release, just imagine all the thoughts in your head going out as well. Do it several times over and over. It sounds stupid, but when you have too many thoughts in your head, you cant concentrate on sleeping because of whatevers worrying you, or exciting you, or keeping you awake.
Different things work for different people, but that worked for me. Good luck :)
okay i used to like breakdance a lot and i tried to learn it and i even went to the club to learn it because it was fun but i stopped because i i couldnt learn it since im a beginner so i stopped and then my friens told me to try skating so i did and it was fun and now im gonna buy the skateboard and trying to learn how to do the tricks but the question is am i being a poser?
No, everyone has to start somewhere, right? And like people below me said, trying out new things is fine. As long as you don't start to tell everyone 'im teh best sk8r everrrrr!!!!111!!1!' before you barely step on the board, you're fine :)

If you have to ask people how far you should go, you're not ready to go that far. Only do what you feel comfortable with. If someone here says "ooh, yeah, you're ready to have sex", don't do it just because they say you should be doing it.
There aren't any rules etched in stone about what a thirteen year old has to be doing :)
i dream of an elevator going up and down rapidly. i press buttons and panic that the door will open so i dont stop and theres only the up and down button which i press one after the other nonstop. and theres people coming after me so that heightens the panic. does this symbolize anything?

Well lately, my bast friend j and my other best friend b have been like ganging up on me...like b will say...oh im j's best friend now she likes me better... and its always about j! She will say she hates me and not even say that she was kidding! My friend b has also been losing wieght...and im happy for her but she talks about it all the time...it doesnt help when j says oh what is your size, whe'll compare! They try to make themselves feel better about themselves! And j has been my best friend since the 1st grade! Plz help!

B doesn't sound like a good friend at all. She might be going through a phase; feeling stressed because of loosing weight, or trying to make herself feel better about herself. I'd definitely give her some time to cool off. Don't let her just treat you like that and think that you can still be best friends like nothing happened.. J doesn't seem to be doing anything wrong, just encouraging B to stick with her weight loss plan.
So definitely leave B alone for a while. If it continues, you can't call her your best friend.
i am inlove, inlove, with boys like girls. but then, all of a sudden, it got on this really popular radio station that EVERYBODY listens too, and they keep playing it, and now like everyone i know is like, "omg i just love them!" and im like you dont even know anything about themmmm. you only know like those two songs. and uhh, there like well, so. and its just EXTREMELY annoying. i dno, im just one of those people who like to be the only one who knows a certain type of music, so then no one can say they like it. because they dont. and its just annoying all the way around.

Yeah, I felt the same way with Panic! At the Disco. Everyone labels them some teeny-bopper band when really all they've heard is I Write Sins Not Tragedies. I've liked them for years before they got popular. I know how it gets frusterating-- music preference is a unique thing and to have someone take it away from you is incredibly annoying. Honestly, there's nothing anyone can do about it. Telling yourself "Oh, well, I know I'm a real fan, i dont care what other people think" really never works, but it's what we have to do =/
what was so bad about spiderman 3? i enjoyed it very much. what was crappy about the plot??
Personally, I didn't think it was terrible. But I know a lot of people thought the scene where Peter Parker was crying on the bridge, and the scene where they were dancing to Twist&Shout, was very corny, apparently. And apparently there was a lack of "character development".
And, I'm not sure if you read the Spider-Man comic books, but many comic book fans were really disappointed with Venom. Movie-version Venom was definitely not as scary as comic-version was supposed to be. He didn't have the crazy tongue, and his teeth weren't as sharp and pointy. Also, in the comic books, Venom "merged" with Eddie Brock, so instead of saying "I am Venom", they're supposed to say "We are venom", which they didn't in the movie. It's a big part of their characters, so it was a disappointment not to see it.
What are some suggetions for getting rid of a bad habit?
Well, one way is to physically stop yourself from doing it. For example, if you bite your nails, they sell polish that purposely smells/tastes really bad so you won't bite.
You could reward yourself for doing it, or punish yourself for not doing it. Like my friend had a problem with cursing, so she wore a rubber band, and every time she cursed, she'd snap her wrist with the rubber band. It's actually a proven technique. Your body will associate cursing (or whatever) with pain. It's how they train dogs.
Or, like I said, you could reward yourself. If you brush your teeth every day for a week, (or whatever), buy yourself a new shirt, or treat yourself to something.

Well, on one hand, there's my ex who I still love alot, and she's just everything I could ever want. She knows I still love her and she loves me still, too. Only problem is that she isn't sure that she wants a relationship right now.
On the other hand, there's this girl I met through a mutual friend and we clicked as soon as we met. We both love each other [Yeah, actual love, not just liking] and we're perfect for each other. Problem here is that she lives in Ohio and I live in New York. Now, we both hate long distance relationships so that's not an option.
I really love both of these girls, but there's obstacles in the way of both. What should I do?
Well, starting with the girl in Ohio-- If a long distance relationship is out of the question, there's really not much you can do, right? I'm being blunt here. Unless you're moving to Ohio or she's moving to New York, which I doubt since you're 15, it's impossible to have a relationship since you've ruled that out. It would be great to continue your friendship though, so unless you hate long-distance friendships, go for that!
Now for your ex-- you love her and she loves you. The only reason you're not together is since she doesn't want a relationship. But she's not going to be like that forever.. so wait around until she's ready. It's worth it in the end, right? Best of luck. Hope it works out :)

It's up to you, but honestly, I wouldn't ask this guy out. He didn't treat you with respect. He was embarassed at the 'rumor' that you were FWB. If he really liked you, he'd go out with you despite what his friends said. Honestly, are they really going to ditch him just because you're going out with him? I live in one of the most superficial, jappiest places in the country and recently a guy in the popular clique went out with someone in a not-so-popular clique, and nobody cared AT ALL.
You've given him enough chances. He's obviously immature and can't handle a mature relationship. Sorry. And also, if I were you, I'd tell people that you WERENT dared to say you were FWB. You shouldn't be walked all over. Don't loose your dignity.
