A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.

advice

i'm trying to lose some wieght and i already excersise and stuff but i think that eating healthier would help too. I never know what to make so i just end up snacking on chips. are there any fairly simple recipies for healthy meals/snacks??

Anything not covered in cheese, fried, or made with refined flour or lots of sugar.


Try eating a vegetable or two. Or have an apple- it'll satisfy your sweet tooth. I have a strange obsession with grapefruits. And cold cereal with skim milk.

Like my title says: is there a cheaper and more "original" subsitute for American Eagle?

FYI I live in central NJ (USA), so don't give me stores indigenous to the cali area.

I like Kohl's- you can often find similar style shirts there for a LOT cheaper, especially during a sale. Plus, check the clearance section at both AE and ae.com. My friend got tank tops for 5.99 once.


Also try Hollister clearance [tank tops especially] and even stores like Target. Shop around and keep an open mind.

When they take a pulse like for a physical, they do it near the wrist, like the veins. [i think]. And i get VERY VERY lightheaded, because my vein sort of sticks out, and when you press against it, i get very....i just can't do it. What should i do?

Tell the nurse that you get lightheaded easily- they don't need to press that hard at all. Plus, being lightheaded after someone just touches you could mean something is up with your blood pressure- ask them about it but I'm sure you're fine.


Ask them to count the number of beats in 6 seconds and just multiply by 10. 6 seconds is NOTHINGG, right?

Okay, so i need to get my physical at the doctor. And i think i need to get a blood test. Don't they hurt? And i think i need it on my wrist, right next to the veins, and that makes me feel REALLY lightheaded. And i need a GARDASIL shot also..and do you know if that hurts? I just got like 5 vaccines a couple weeks ago and they didn't hurt..but a blood test will it hurt? I HATE PAIN. Please be honest. Does a blood test hurt if it's near the wrist veins, and if it's not does it still hurt? And does the GARDASIL Vaccine hurt?? And also, what does a doctor do during a physical? Do blood tests hurt as much as a vaccine? Please answer ALL.

Blood tests aren't bad. You'll only get one if the doctor ordered lab work- and you need to fast the night before. They hurt, but only if you watch them do it. Just think about something else, and it's over in like two seconds. Plus, you could be preventing diseases that ARE really painful, and getting your cholesterol tested is a part of life you're gonna have to accept someday, so the sooner the better.


Gardasil I've heard is a slightly bigger needle, but it on;y hurts AFTER the shot. Like, it'll be sore. But it's one again a lot better than the disease it's preventing, and it only hurts for a little while. Invest in an icepack and you're set.


Pediatricians usually check "down there" but not like a gyno does, and if you're not comfortable you can ask them not to, or request that a female doctor look at you for that one part. I have a guy doctor, and I'm comfortable with him, but it depends on the person & how long you've had that doctor. I've had the same one since age two, so yeah.


I've never had to pee in a cup at a regular physical- but if you do, it's no big deal. Just don't pee on your hand or give them apple juice instead :)


Oh yea, and request that the person testing your blood use the smallest needle possible, especially if you have small veins. Bend your arm out straight- and if you can see veins in the inside of your elbow, you'll probably be fine with the reg. size needle.

Does anyone know if they are allowing cameras at the concert?

Cameras aren't usually allowed anymore, but everyone brings them anyways. If you're a girl, put it in your bra/tank top. If you're a guy (or a girl with big pockets) put it in your pants.


Or just bring a cell phone that has a camera :)

okay, you know that little Madeline Mccann girl that's gone missing? i could of SWORN i saw her, just outside of this plaza.. but her hair was DARK.. i'm sure it was a disguise or something, but i'm dead serious. i was with my mom in the car and i told her that i think i saw her and so she could move the car back a little bit, and i saw 'her' and this guy (he looked mexican or something like that) and all of the physical features named on the myspace page.. i'm really serious, what the heck should i do? i'm really scared lol.. sorry that this is the dumbest question ever.

Call the cops, as well as any stores that could have had surveillance videos, so that they don't erase them. Call them NOW.

Are you allowed to bring knitting needles on an airlplane? Why or why not?

I'd say no. They could be used as a weapon and they even take away nail files. They should be fine in your regular luggage though.

Besides, knitting on a plane would be really diffcult. Turbulence and all. Call the airline in advance if you want to be sure though; regulations change all the time.

i need some really greatttt rock songs. i don't really want a bunch of oldies but like 2000-now rock songs would be great. Things like "click click boom" and "i hate everything about you" by three days grace. Those sort of rock songs. No punk please. Anything will do along those lines! thank you!

Three Days Grace's new album is really good. Breaking Benjamin is alright. If you want some really good rock music, though, check out those oldies that you seem to be avoiding like the plague :)

i have had some really good convos with a boy from school online and he has always initiates the convo. the other night we admitted we liked each other, and then left it at that (basically it had a positive ending). i decided i should initiate the conversation for once...but when i did he never answered me. it's possible he may have not been at his computer...i don't know. should i not have come home and IMed him that very next day? are you supposed to not do that every day or what? i can't figure out if it was the right thing to do.

He might not have been at his computer. Don't overanalyze this. Either send him an email (if you're both nervous) or even better, talk to him in person. You've both admitted to liking each other, and yu both obviously feel the same way. So make something happen!

so yeah im i like this guy really bad and weve had flings in the past and all he heard i wanted to "hook up " with him which i do but i really like him and thats why i wanna hook up with him .. he would hook up with me too but i feel like all he wants is hooking up and isnt serious i dont really think it but its just the impression hes giving off i really know him and im sure he would settle down eventually .. but my main problem is he just hooekd up with this really really pretty girl who has an amazing body and i feel like thats the end of me because hwen he sees me now im not gonna meen as much as i did to him before.. which was a lot i think.. and now he like talks to this girl... i really dont know what my question is.. all i know if i need someone to talk to and help me somewhat .. thanks in advance

I think this guy was just interested in a hookup. Now he's into a new girl- and he's moving on from you. You really deservew better; move on from him because you'll be disappointed (to say the least) when you realize he was only into the physical stuff.


This isn't to say you can't still be friends with him, though. But you'll be much better off being with a guy who is actually remotely interested in the ENTIRE concept of a relationship, and not just the physical stuff.

How do you change the text color, like you have a nice bluish color?

Go here: [http://www.advicenators.com/style.php] and scroll down to the bottom of the page to where it says "Your Column Colors". You can change the colors of almost everything on the page from there. It's pretty self-explanatory- "page text" changes the main text color, "sidebar text" changes the color of the text in the sidebar, etc. I'm also using the approved public style "Your Space" for a layout.


If you promise not to steal my exact layout style, you can use the text color. Right now it's [#6666CC] with white links [#FFFFFF].

we're remodeling our house. today, the contractors pulled up the carpet (which had hard wood floor underneath) in most of the house so we could decide to either get new carpet, or keep the exsisting hardwood. the hardwood in my room looks greats, and has nothing major done to it, so i want to keep it. however, i'm on the third floor and the sometimes it gets pretty cold up here in the winter, and vice versa in the summer. i love the hardwood though- can anyone give me pro's & con's to keep it versus getting hardwood?

I'd definitely keep the hardwood. It goes with more color schemes for when you remodel again, or get a new color comforter. Carpet's harder to clean & maintain, and match to the decor.


You can always get nice area rugs for the winter. They're easier to clean if someone, say, spills tuna casserole everywhere. Hey, it could happen.

Really, you're fine. Short people wanna be taller, tall people wanna be shorter. As long as you're confortable with yourself you'll appear confident, which is more important anyways.

i live in tampa and i was wondering what is the supply list for 9th grade. i will be taking spanish 1, english 1 honors, algebra 2, and i forgot which science class. people that have been in the 9th grade can you please tell me the real things we need. not just the basic paper pencils binders stuff. thank you in advance!!!

My school CLAIMED to require a cetrain style of binder... but it doesn't really matter. Get a 1-1.5" binder for each subject, or a notebook. I recommend binders because you can put in more paper easily, but if you prefer notebooks- go for it.


Supplies are slightly different for each course. Even if your school says a graphing calculator is required for your math course, wait until school starts to buy one. I didn't do that and we didn't use them at ALL. Plus, the school had classroom sets. You won't miss out on a sale. You're gonna pay $$$$$$$ for them either way [100-135 or so]


Your best bet is to ask a student who took the same courses as you. MY list of required supplies is as follows, besides all the binders I mentioned already: black gel pens [or whatever you love to write in that isn't pink sparkle ink; it makes notes more tolerable to take], mechanical pencils [because sharpeners suck in highschool & disrupt class], whiteout [yay!], highlighters in as many colors as you can find [who doesn't love highlighting stuff, really?], a backpack that is big enough to hold your stuff and has a lot of packets, and a seperate notebook or folder that isn't for any specific class, but solves the inevitable "OH S*** THE BELL WHERE DO I PUT THESE 9217273995 HANDOUTS?!" issue. Also, hand lotion & sanitizer, water bottle if your school lets you, hairbrush, and elastics for gym class/lab days in bio.

Technically it means you get a free Tootsie pop. Good luck finding a store that still does that, though.

I forget what the flavors were.. but their colors are YELLOW, ORANGE, PINK, OR RED. pick any one of those 4 colors. please dont say something else like "green" because that wont help me at all.. its for this project i have to do in school. thanks for helping! ♥
