Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. This site helped me a LOT when I was in high school and had a lot of questions, and I'm here to help anyone who needs it :) Feel free to write in my forum or send me a question any time!

Me and my friends (guys and girls) always play truth or dare ! Its so much fun. But dares always get boring kind of. Does anyone know any good questions to ask for TRUTH? =)

When my b/f puts his arm around my shoulder is it beeter to put my arm around his shoulder or waist

Waist... if you're messing around and doing that, then lay your head down on him or something, but if you're like at the movies and he does it, then lay your head up against his like chest. But if you're like walking around the mall, and he puts his arm around you, then put yours around his waist. Or like if he puts his hand in your back pocket, do the same to him...

What do you guys think about having an "Ask Alice" column in a school newspaper.
like where an annonymous person (possibly me) answers annonymous questions asked my students in the school. some could be put online, and some just sent back to the students. do you think that it is a good idea, i read about it in a book, it was called "Teen Idol" by Meg Cabbot, anyone ever read it? then you may know what i am talking about, only in the book it was called "Ask Annie"

the person (maybe me) would remain annonymous so that the people asking the questions would not know who you were or if you were apart of one group or clique and them another, that way the person asking the question isnt scare or whatever!!

So, do you think that this is a good idea?

If our school newspaper had like an advice column and stuff, I'd like LOVE to do it. Sadly, it doesn't. Besides, working on a school newspaper doesn't sound like fun (but what do I know, I've never done it)
But yeah, I think that'd be a cool idea. Because then after reading other peoples questions, some people will realize they're not the only ones going through whatever they might be going through. I think it'd be cool for you to like make up a yahoo e-mail adress (it's free) and then people can use that one when asking you for advice, and then you can use the biggie questions for the actual column, but still respond to them all online. If that makes sense.

ok, well i have started cutting because of problems i have at home, well now i started to do it for fun, and i dont know why i like to do it, but i do. and its not for attention because know one knows i do it. well anyways, i get urges to do it even when there are no probems at home. i dont know whats wrong with me, i mean i know its wrong and i shouldnt be doing it, but i just love to hurt myself. i need some advice, weather its what i can do to stop, or if you know why i like to do it for fun. plz help

I could simply answer this in four words. You're addicted to cutting. I know, because I was and sort of still am. I have managed not to cut in a while, but at first you do it because of the stuff going on in your life, then it's like you like doing it even though you know it's wrong. And then after a while you do it for the heck of it. It's definitley hard to stop. You do need to tell someone, like a trustworthy friend or teacher. Or a parent, or a councilor. But you need to tell someone so you can get help. It can be super dangerous if you don't stop. I know that it's SUPER hard to quit, it's like a really bad really hard to quit habit, but there's not much you can do about it. I know how you feel, I've been there done that, and it's not something I like reminiscing about, but it's a part of my life that I have to learn to live with. But you definitley need to get some help to get over the addiction. There are sites I've used for people, I'm not on my computer, and I have the site listed under favorites, but I think the site is listed on my column in another question I've answered, there's something like cut it out in the link, so that's how you'll recognize it. I never heard of anyone getting high off of it. But I do know that it's dangerous to use when you're pregnant, though that has nothing to do with your question. Maybe you could try asking it on www.ask.com, or on google, or gizoogle, or some other site. Sorry I'm not as much help, but I never heard of anyone getting high off of acne stuff.

I don't live where you do, but most likely a basketball coach at your school, or just a P.E (gym) teacher would know of some. Or do you know places where you can play rec sports? Contact those places and they might let you know of some camps. But if you know the basketball coach at your school, then ask him/her, if not ask your phys ed teacher.

I've been having a few problems trying to get into the chatroom lately. Everytime I open it up, it will say that it's loading Java Applet... After about 5 seconds this message shows up: java.lang.class.NotFoundException:Chat.Class. I've tried loading in several times with no luck. I'm horrible with computers so I have no clue what "java.lang.class.NotFoundException:Chat.Class" means. I've never had problems with the chatroom before and I've never been banned from it either so I don't know what the problem would be. If someone amazingly wonderful with computers could help me out that would be PERFECT! Thanks so much if you can help!

It wouldn't work for me either. I reccomend you asking Advicenator_Admin or MFS or Draak since Fern already answered. Most likely Advicenator_Admin or MFS will be able to fiz it, I don't really know all that much about Draak except that Draak is also a level 3, but usually I always here about MFS fixing the problems. Sorry I'm not much help, just trying to redirect you to someone who might know.

I want my boyfriend to kiss me first. But I think he wants me to kiss him first. And I dunno what to do. His best friend keeps telling me to give him a kiss, but I kinda wanna wait til he kisses me! Im 17 and this is really embarassing but, I havent had my period yet. I feel ashamed and worried that something is wrong ! Im a virgin, if that matters that much. Im so worried & i feel bad because I tell my friends I have it, and I even use pads hoping it will come. Whats wrong with me? I need to know what to do!

IF you're super skinny and athletic, then it won't come until maybe even your 20s, but if you're still worried, tell your mom or someone, or make yourself a doctor appointment. Or like go to your OB/GYN, or well just your GYN...
But I know some girls who didn't get theirs until they were 16 and 17 and 18 years old. But if I didn't have mine, and I was 17 I'd probably go to the doctors.

Hi there, I'm 14 years old and I have a problem with self harm. It used to be controlable, but now it's an addiction. No one else knows, and I don't know how I can stop, because it's getting really bad. How do I control it??

I know what you mean when you say it used to be controlable and now it's addicting. You need to tell someone you can trust. Whether it be a friend/teacher/parent/aunt/relative... But be warned... if you tell a councilor it's their job to call your parents. They HAVE to inform your parents when you are in any danger, otherwise they could be fired...

But it was a VERY addicting habit for me, and to tell the truth, I'm not completely over it. Whether I try but stop myself, or I just have thoughts of doing self-harm, it's definitley hard to get over. You NEED to tell someone. I got over it because I told friends and a teacher, and another teacher found out and told guidance, and it led to this huge deal. But what really got me to try and stop was when a friend told me that she couldn't be friends with me if I continued doing SI because she didn't want to be friends with someone who just tried to throw their life away. Because of her, and other helpful and supportive people, I threw away my needles, I tried and tried and tried, and the few times I got really strong urges I wrote poems, or I wrote private entries in my xanga from way back when. But you have to get your mind of self harm. What causes you to harm yourself? Try to fix that problem. Did a guy cheat on you, or does your boyfriend treat you wrong? Dump him! Is there a bad situation at home? Try to talk to the councilor, and tell her that because of your situation you've thought about, but haven't done self harm, that way that can't call home saying you've done something (maybe) or has a friend passed away recently? Try to remember the good times, and get everyone that was close to that friend make a huge scrapbook of pictures and insiders and things to remember that friend by, so whenever you get sad you can look through it (that will work for like anyone that's passed away)

my fingernails are pretty long...but VERY thin! everytime i go to do something they either break or bend easy! i want hard findernails and not for them to bend as easy anymore...does anyone know how i can do this?

There's a clear nailpolish ( I have like 2 bottles of it ) and it's like strenghtener, I would assume that that would work for you. Just when you go get nailpolish, see if there are any that say strenghtener. They look like base coat and top coat, but instead of saying that, it'll say strenghtener.

Well normally you are only supposed to do it once, but if everyone else agrees, then you can do it whatver amount that ya'll agree on. I like doing it where you can switch 3-5 times it makes it easier and harder at the same time.

Well, how old are you. I know a lot of people who's parents still won't let them watch R movies until either the parent saw it first, pr depending what it's R for. Like since some movies are rated R just because it's scary/gory/language, that isn't as bad as rated R for nudity, because that's like gross. I mean, Hide n seek for example... that's pretty much just rated R for the whole horror thing, what else is wrong with it.
And as for having a boyfriend, your mom can't stop you, well she can stop you from going on dates and stuff, which pretty much rules everything out, because no guy wants to date someone he can't go out with... but like if you're over 15, then you really need to sit your mom down and be like, I think you're way overprotective of me, and if I want a boyfriend, or if I want to go see a rated R movie with friends, you should let me.
If you're 13-14, then a boyfriend, though it's a good thing, isn't the most important thing in life, and even though I'm 14 and I've been watching rated R movies since I was like 11, it still doesn't make it okay for you.
If you're under 15, wait it out, unless you're at a friends house and they rented a movie that was rated R, then have fun, enjoy, watch it. But the whole boyfriend thing, seriously talk to your mom about it. My mom was saying me and my sis couldn't date until we were 16, yeah, we had a serious talk about that one, because it wasn't fair at all, she gave in and said high school, and yet my brother is in 7th grade and my mom is allowing him to date (her baby child... ugh, he gets whatever he wants....)

But if you're 15+ DEFINITLEY talk to your mom, if you're under that, then you can try talking to your mom, but you can just as easily wait it out.

does anybody understand how to play the game minesweeper thats usually on computers? Like i understand how to play it but how do u no where the "mines" are or whatever

When you click on the thing, it'll have a number, that's how many mines are near it. I usually just click around, or I'll do it where there are 100 mines, and I'll have the biggest screen possible.. I've actually won before. It's a hard game until you realize what you're doing. Just like, when you click on a box, either you lose, or a number pops up. That number is usually how many mines surround/or are near it. So if the number is one, you're still pretty safe, but if the number is like 3 or 4, then you might want to move to a different area. Sorry if this is confusing or not much help... good luck with the game ha ha.

does anyone know where i can learn urban (hip-hop) dancing?

Usually at dance studios, or wherever people go to learn tap and ballet and all that stuff will have hip-hop dancing on other days, or they'll be able to tell you where you can go. Sorry if I'm not really that much help, but that's all I could think of.

Okay, what the heck does going goth have to do with anything??? Do you mean becoming a depressed idiot that feels that they need to cut themself and contemplate suicide? I have lots of gothic friends, it's a religion. You don't go goth because you think that your father is cheating on your mother. Even if he is cheating, you don't automatically go goth. Gothic people don't just wear black, and not all gothic people are depressed psychopaths that want to committ suicide.

Just get over it. For all you know this is just someone in the navy with him that didn't even know he was married and now feels extremely stupid. Or maybe it was his commanding officer, or maybe it was a girl he was cheating with. Don't overreact until you know something. Yeah, it would suck if your dad was cheating, but without proof (and I don't mean a phone call or texr message) then you have nothing on him.
