Ask Alice School Newspaper Advice Column!!! :)

Question Posted Tuesday March 8 2005, 9:49 pm

What do you guys think about having an "Ask Alice" column in a school newspaper.
like where an annonymous person (possibly me) answers annonymous questions asked my students in the school. some could be put online, and some just sent back to the students. do you think that it is a good idea, i read about it in a book, it was called "Teen Idol" by Meg Cabbot, anyone ever read it? then you may know what i am talking about, only in the book it was called "Ask Annie"

the person (maybe me) would remain annonymous so that the people asking the questions would not know who you were or if you were apart of one group or clique and them another, that way the person asking the question isnt scare or whatever!!

So, do you think that this is a good idea?

Thanks!!

I think so because people are always trying to find an organization where they can ask or possibly even give advice. I wish they did something like that at my school.

Sounds like a great idea, but I think you should have input from others; it adds perspective and would help give you a better idea where someone else is coming from.

Cheers!

It sounds like a great idea! Everyone needs advice at some point and being able to get help at school without anyone knowing you're getting help is really cool. I say go for it!

Haven't read the book but sounds like it could be a good idea. The thing is I don't know how you would keep anon. You would have to get with people to get it started and secrets don't seem well kept in schools.Good lick with it though.

If our school newspaper had like an advice column and stuff, I'd like LOVE to do it. Sadly, it doesn't. Besides, working on a school newspaper doesn't sound like fun (but what do I know, I've never done it)
But yeah, I think that'd be a cool idea. Because then after reading other peoples questions, some people will realize they're not the only ones going through whatever they might be going through. I think it'd be cool for you to like make up a yahoo e-mail adress (it's free) and then people can use that one when asking you for advice, and then you can use the biggie questions for the actual column, but still respond to them all online. If that makes sense.
Well I gotta go. Bye

I don't think its a terrible idea if that helps any. It sounds like a great plan to get some unity brewing in the school. This could help the kids get rid of that "I'm alone" vibe The draw back is that they could just as easily come here if they are age appropriate! Don't you think?

Actually, I do think that is a great idea. I have been trying to do that t my school for my journalism class, but for right now, I have to write an article about it to see what the students think. If people come up to us and want the advice columns up, and not just a couple of people, then we will do it and I get to be the person writng for it. But yeah, thats a great idea. Go for it and follow your heart. Dream Big! Get back to me and let me know how it goes if you can.

I think that's a really good idea. It would be a fun addition to your newspaper, as well as a good resource for students to get advice. We have an advice column in our school paper, but it is more of a joke article every week, where they write funny questions, and give hilarious, totally irrelevant answers. But, I like your idea, I think students would really like to read something like that. Make sure to pick questions to feature that are ones alot of people could relate to. Maybe you could get a friend or something to help you and you could answer questions together, that might be sort of fun. It is definately a good idea for both you, the answerer, and for the person asking the question to remain annonymous. That way, you would have a better chance of people feeling comfortable enough to submit a question. Hope this answered your question, good luck with your column!
