Use that sally hansen hard nails stuff. It works. Or go and get your nails done at a salon. They look super cute and don't break!

Weak fingernails can be a challenge to toughen up. If you have weak fingernails, the following tips can help you protect them, making your nails less likely to split or break.

-Keep your nails short, square-shaped and slightly rounded on top. Trim brittle nails after a bath or a 15-minute hand-soak in bath oil. Then apply a moisturizer.
-Apply a moisturizer each time you wash your hands. If your nails are brittle, moisturize your nails and cuticles at bedtime and cover them with cotton gloves.
-Apply a nail hardener, but avoid products containing toluene sulfonamide or formaldehyde. These chemicals can cause redness or irritate the skin.
-Don't use nail polish remover more than twice a month. Instead, touch up the polish. When you do need a remover, avoid those that use acetone, which dries nails.
-Repair splits or tears with nail glue or clear polish.

Also, general proper nail care:
-Protect your nails. Wear cotton-lined rubber gloves when using soap and water for prolonged periods or when using harsh chemicals. Gloves help protect your nails when washing dishes, for example.
-Avoid abusing your nails. Don't use them as tools to pick, poke or pry things.
-Don't bite your nails or pick at your cuticles. These types of habits can damage the nail bed. Even a minor cut alongside your nail can allow bacteria or fungi to enter and cause an infection (paronychia). Because your nails grow slowly, an injured nail retains signs of an injury for several months.
-Moisturize your nails frequently. When you're moisturizing your hands, rub the lotion into your nails as well.

at most of the nail salons they have something called gel nails. its not putting fake nails on you but they put this gel onto your nails and then it gets hard but its still flexable. but it is so flexable to wear itll bend in a snap. buit it wont keep them suuper hard cuz then when you hit something they will break but the gell nails will bend when you hit something and wont break as easy and its light weight so you wont really know it is there. i know this because i have gotten my nails done plenty and my best friend has them gel nails and we did an "experiment" and hit something hard and my nail cracked but hers was just fine. hope i helped. and i dont care about ratings i just want to help ppl who need it so you dont have to rate me.

Karen answered Sunday March 6 2005, 9:46 pm:
To make your nails stronger, you should try using a nail polish that hardens your nails and makes them stronger. If you go through a nail polish aisle at a store, you will find this nail polish. It's clear, just like a normal clear nail polish.

This probably means your not getting enough calcium. You need to either drink more milk (or if your like me and dont like milk, you could start taking calcium supplements; they sell them over the counter at most drugstores) To help this problem for now, you should start using Sally Hansen nail polish.. the clear coat. Some of her nail polish even says "for dry and brittle nails". I really think that would help!

You could buy Sally Hansen "Tough as Nails" nailpolish. The polish is supposed to strenghten your nails over a peroid of time.

I'm pretty sure it works because my mom uses it and hardly ever breaks a nail anymore.

You could get fake nails because they are pretty thick. But I would keep your nails, just be careful about what you do

Go to a drugstore and go to the nail section and there should be some strengthening (sp) stuff. Or you can go to a nail parlor and ask them!

you can actually buy nail hardeners. use it kinda like nail polish and it strengthens your nails

S_C answered Sunday March 6 2005, 5:49 pm:
There's a clear nailpolish ( I have like 2 bottles of it ) and it's like strenghtener, I would assume that that would work for you. Just when you go get nailpolish, see if there are any that say strenghtener. They look like base coat and top coat, but instead of saying that, it'll say strenghtener.

Siren_Cytherea answered Sunday March 6 2005, 5:32 pm:
Well, there is a clear nailpolish that's supposed to harden your nails, but I've never tried that. I like to keep my nails long, and mine don't bend. I take two calcium pills every day because I don't like milk. Calcium really does strengthen your bones - and your nails are bones. It therefore strengthens your nails. So I'd said calcium is your best bet - but the nailpolish probably works as well.
I hope this helps!

There's nail polish out that makes your nails harder. It's by Salley. If you go in the nail care section of the store, you'll find it. Also, if you put just put clear nail polish on, it'll help your nails become stronger and won't break so much.
