Is it too late for me to change my mind about the University I want to go to? I want to start in the Fall.
Right now, I'm supposed to go to one school but I'm starting to lean towards another. I was accepted to both but is it too late to change my mind?
No, it's not. I'm sure there's also going to be a lot of people that decide not to go the the college that you want to go to, so it would kind of be like your taking their place. Also, about the classes, your not likely to get into the classes that you really want as a freshman anyway (at least thats the case at the colleges I've been to) but if you show up to the classes that you really want on the day that they have them, then you might be able to convince the professor to let you take the place of one of the people that don't show up to that first class... because there's always at least 2 people who don't go. The first week or so is usually "add/drop" week for people who are still trying to decide what classes to take.
You could always try, if your unable to get into the college you want right now, then you can always try for next semester.

does anyone know what kind off dog this is?
You shouldn't rule out a chihuahua just because it's ears aren't sticking up right now. Some pure bred dogs who normally have ears that stick up, have floppy ears when they're still puppies. It's very common. It looks most like a chihuahua to me, and if it is a mix, then it's probably a very small amount of something else. Just wait a few months and you'll start to see what s/he will look like when s/he is older and you'll be able to tell better.

im not just here for the rating. Wehn you ask a question and you give the honest answer and you answer the question they asked. Why do they rate you a one.? Is there anything to do about them rating you a one when you deserved something like a four or a five?
You shouldn't delete your answer if you think you gave good advice, then you should show it to the world, or whatever...
If you report them, then the higher level moderators will change your rating because giving someone a one for good advice is abuse to this site.

my toy breed 4.5lb 1 1/2 years old is throwing up blood what can I do?
There is nothing you can do in any case like this besides bringing him to the vet. It can be caused by a huge number of things, so no one on this site will be able to narrow it down to one thing.

i have a 6month old pit/bull mastiff mix. we love him to death we consider one of our child (which makes 5) our only 2 problems with him are how do we get him to goto the bathroom outside and not inside( i walk him for like 1 &1/2 hours and he wont go outside he holds it until we get back in the house. Can a dog have adhd/add his sister is so calm but taz is so hyper that when people come over we have to put him in his cgae which i feel so bad for doing cause he loves people. Its just his nails are sharp and he actually cut my niece's back open (thank god she didnt need stitches). I REALLY NEED SOME ADVISE FOR TAZ IM NOT THE TYPE THAT LIKES TO BE MEAN TO ANIMALS. SO NOTHING TO HARSH PLEASE!
Dude, don't hit your dog with a broom. That's stupid, it won't work and it's very cruel.
Here's what you need to do to house train a puppy. Get a large crate, kind of like those airline dog crates. Don't get one that he fits nice in now, get him one that he fits nice in in about six months. So, in your case, you will have to get one quite large.
Here's how you crate train a dog. When you are not able to have your complete attention on the dog, then he should ideally be in the crate. When he is in the crate, he should not be in for longer than 4 or 5 hours. This will either cause him to have messes in the crate, which will make him messier in nature. Or it will cause him to forcibly hold his bladder and he will get a urinary tract infection.
When he is outside of his crate:
When you see him starting to look for a place to go to the bathroom, take him outside. When he gets up from sleeping, take him outside. When he gets done eating, take him outside. If it's been a couple of hours since he's gone to the bathroom, take him outside.
When you take him outside:
DO NOT take him for long walks. This will only make him think that outside time is for walk time, not for bathroom time. Take him outside for up to ten minutes, and no longer. And do not let him play or walk around. Find a designated area outside close to your door, where he can go each time you take him outside. If, after ten minutes he has not gone to the bathroom, then bring him back inside. When you bring him inside and he hasn't gone outside, then remember that he still needs to go to the bathroom and take him outside in less than a half hour and do the same thing.
If he goes to the bathroom outside:
When he goes to the bathroom outside, then say "good boy" and give him a treat. And then take him inside.
When he goes to the bathroom inside:
Sternly say no, or bad, or whatever else you say to scold him, and maybe give him a light tap on the nose, and then take him out immediately. Don't let him wait until you clean up the mess, take him outside for a few minutes, and then come in and clean up the mess. I know it sucks, and it's harsh on the carpets, but it's better to get him outside so that he associates going pee or poo with being outside. This will be much better on the carpets in the long run.
Now, here's a normal schedule.
When he wakes up: take him out of the crate and go outside for ten minutes. If he doesn't go to the bathroom, bring him inside and feed him. When he gets done eating, take him outside for ten minutes. If he doesn't go then being him inside.
Keep bringing him outside until he goes to the bathroom. Hopefully this happens before you have to leave for work/school if you have it. When you do leave the house. Put him in his crate. This shouldnt' be longer than 4 or 5 hours so he doesn't make a mess in his crate.
When you get home, take him out of his crate and bring him outside for ten minutes, etc, etc, etc.
At night time, when it is time for him to go to bed, put him in his crate. He will bark and wine and not like it at first, but trust me, it will end up being like a home to him. You may have a couple of restless nights at first, but again, in the long run, it will be very very worth it.
I may not have covered everything, so, if you have any more questions, simply ask and I will get back as soon as possible.
Now for him being hyper when people come over.
This doesn't mean that he has add or adhd, this just means that he is more social and likes people more than his sister.
One thing you can do is something that I described in the question that I answered right before this one. You should make him sit for EVERYTHING. This means, sit before he get's pet, before he gets food, before he gets treats, before he gets a door opened for him to go in or out.
Make sure the people that come over know this also. When someone wants to pet him, make him sit first. If he doesn't sit, then ignore him and wait 30 seconds. If he doesn't sit again wait 30 seconds and if he doesn't sit a third time, then give him a minute time out and then try again. Do this for everything, when you go to feed him, let him out of cage, and everything that he enjoys. This is the "nothing in life is free" kind of training, and it will work very well.
With the jumping... every time he jumps, turn your back to him and ignore him. When he stops jumping, turn around and pet him. Dogs jump to get more attention, and when they get ignored for jumping, then they will stop jumping.
You can try to have your neice help with this also, tell her to turn aroud, hopefully facing a wall. Tell everyone that comes into your house to do this and it will work like wonders.
About his nails. You can get then cut short. But, remember, after they are clipped they will be jagged for a few days and may hurt even more than normal, but in the long run it will be much safer for your neice and everyone else. If you don't know how to or you don't feel comfortalbe doing it, most vets will only charge ten dollars to bring an animal in to get their nails clipped.
Hope this helps and I wish you good luck with your puppy

My 5 month dog is trying to mount my 3 year old daughter, which is not exceptable. Should I neuter him now? I do believe it is more than just being a puppy. He is in the bully breed and I am very concerned about him knowing his place in our klan, and manners.
It depends on the veterinarian whether or not you can get him neutered now. Most vets like to wait until 6 months old, but, neutering is certainly not as invasive as spaying, so, if you tell them the problem you are having, then they might consider doing it early anyway.
The mounting that your dog is doing to your daughter is a behavioral problem, and won't fix itself just because of getting him neutered. This is something that you might have to work with for a bit, but, since he is young, it shouldn't be hard.
What I would do to set up some boundries so he knows that your boss, is some simple things.
Make him sit for Everything. This includes eating, treats, opening doors. It will be very hard with a rambunctious puppy at first, but once they realize that they wont get what they want by pushing you around, they will soon listen.
Here's what you do
-tell your dog to sit before you feed, treat or open a door. If your dog does not sit wait about 30 seconds. Tell your dog to sit again. If your dog does not sit, wait and ignore him for another 30 seconds. If you does not sit again. Then ignore him for a minute or more. It's advisable that you make him sit and wait for a few seconds so that this is etched into his brain. Do this before he gets ANYTHING. My vet calls this the "nothing in life is free" kind of training. I started doing it with my puppy when she was very young and it helped out immensly.
I also used to have a 160 pound rottweiler who I did this with. He was very sweet and never tried to push us around because he knew that we gave him everything for doing what we tell him to do.
I would also ask your vet if he/she knows of anything that you can do to help with him training. Vet's are a woonderful source of information about animals.

my uncle's german shepered bit me and i have a big bruise do i have a rabies? cause my uncle said he got complete rabies shots so i dont have to worry but my friends and my PE teacher said that i have to go to the doctor im confused
and my mom doesnt know that my uncle's dog bit me
by the way the dog bit me in 05/9/2006 and
i washed my wound after he bit me it didnt break my skin that much and no blood at all.
ok, here's the thing. A dog is possible to get rabies even if he's had his shots, it's just that he won't get rabies unless his immune system is ultra super bad. Which is probably not the case.
If you had rabies you would not be frothing at the mouth, so don't listen to the person before me.
If this was strange for the dog to do, and you gave it no reason to bite you, such as teasing it, then you should isolate the dog and monitor your health. If you start to feel a bit strange, in any way at all, I would see about getting the rabies vaccine (yes, for humans, but it's very expensive and a long process)
Your friends and gym teacher are telling you to go to the doctor, because you should go to the doctor when a dog bites you. Just to get it checked out and possibly get an antibiotic to decrease any risk of infection from a dirty dog mouth.
Your arm is bruised because the pressure from the dogs jaws bruised your blood vessels.
Also, I would consider telling your mom.

How do I know if what my parents are doing to me is child abuse? They hit me really bad, but it never leaves a mark. They do throw stuff at me and yell and scream and hit me. They verbally abuse me and say God didn't know what he was thinking when he put me on this earth, and they tell me I'm never going to have a job, a husband, children, or friends and they say I'm going to go to jail. They say they love my sister more then me. They say it to my face. What would you recommend doing? Calling child abuse or reporting it. Is what they do to me considered child abuse?
yes. I would consider this child abuse. Whether they are leaving marks or not, the verbal abuse can leave you with more scars than any physical abuse.
I would recomend telling a trusted adult, such as someone at school. And calling a hotline and reporting what is happening.
I'm not sure of any of the numbers or anything, but I'm sure you could find it if you search online or ask a guidance councelor.
sorry I couldn't be more help

ok i havent gotten my first period yet, and lately, like the past 2 days, my underwear have been really brown, like around the part my vagina touches. Its almost looks like, i pooped in my underwear, like that color(sorry lol), but I know thats not it becuase I clean "over there" very thoroughly. Is it discharge? Will i be getting my period soon? Should I start wearing pads? (and how do you properly put on pads becuase i tried and it didnt work) THanks so much. ♥
The reason you see brown, instead of red like you were probably expecting is because the blood inside you turns brown as it gets older. So, if it's been inside you for a while before actually coming out, then it will be brown.
This usually happens when you get your first period, and around the last day of your period.

i'm cramping and I am suppose to start my period next week sometime. last time I started was April 20 that was 22 or 23 days ago(if i counted correctly) I'm bleeeding a little bit..Do you think I'll get my peiod tomorrow more than likely cause I got a bball tournament tomorrow.. or do you think it is just temporary bleeding like alittle before the period actually starts?
If your bleeding, then that means that you have already started your period. Your period is not always going to go on the regular 28 day cycle, especially when your young.

okay so i started taking antibiotics last saturday and finished taking them yesterday. i know that you're not supposed to drink alcohol when taking antibiotics but do you think it's safe to drink tonight? remember: i finished taking them yesterday.
and i'm of legal drinking age so don't lecture me about that.
It depends on what kind of antibiotic and whether it's still in your system.
Metronidazole is a very caustic antibiotic, and may be the one you've been taken since they always have "do not drink alcohol while taking this medication" posted all over the vials.
I had to take it many times a while back, and the reason for the postings is because you can get very very sick. As in, throwing up every half hour or more, if it is mixed with alcohol.
Your best bet would be to call your doctor and ask... oh wait, it's saturday, so... um... hmm... well, a doctors advice would be best. so, I'm not sure what to tell you.

i have a parakeet and he poops seriously about every 5 minutes, and its not normal poop either.its sometimes watery and yellow/white.could he be sick?if so do you know what he might have?
thanks in advance.
ok, I'm not quite sure how informed you are with birds. And I may not be hitting the mark at all.
But, when birds go to the bathroom, the release both the urine and feces(poop) at the same time. This relust in a watery white/yellow goo, and might have some greenish brownish looking stuff in the middle.
I've had birds that did it a lot. They are messy animals when they live in a cage. It's quite gross.
My advice would be to call a veterinarian who deals with avians (birds). There may be nothing wrong with him, and the veterinarian can tell you for certain whether he may be sick or not.

I recently found a very young bird at an age of approximatly 3 days. I have taken care of it and it is well now, however, I have no idea how to determine the sex of the bird or what kind it is! Can someone help me?
Most wild birds have different colors as they get older, but this won't help you with a young bird. I'm almost certain that the only way to tell the sex of a bird is in the same way that they find out the sex of reptiles. By sticking a small thingy into it's hole and seeing if it goes in a little bit, or a lot.
As you can tell by my vocabulary, I've never done this, nor should you attempt this, since it will only hurt the bird. Take it to a veterinarian who handles birds to find out.
The veterinarian can also tell you the kind of bird it is.
The veterinarian can also tell you how to take care of the bird. Since you found the bird, and you believe that it's only 3 days old, it's not likely to live without it's mother unless you know what your doing. A baby wild bird isn't exactly as easy to keep alive as a bird you get in the pet store.

We had a dog who would always use its paws to try to move the blankets ( rake ) and he did it for no reason, and kept moving it, he did it everytime we went to bed.
Then he died, and we got a new dog, who is a girl, and she does the same thing.. and I am just wondering why she does that?
It has nothing to do with when they were puppie and were suckling from the mother. What they did then was called "kneeding" kind of like what a cat does when it's purring. What your dogs are doing is trying to get comfortable. Not thinking about suckling from it's mother or trying to bury an imaginary bone, they are simply trying to get comfortable.

I recently decided to try Veet hair removal cream and it worked great.
So I decided to use it on my pubic area and as I was reading the rest of the directions and all of the extra stuff, it said not to use it on that area. So I washed it off as fast as I could and it removed a lot of the hair anyway. So my question is why can't you use it in your pubic area? Because I'd be a lot ore comfortable using it instead of a razor. So can anyone tell me if they are being paranoid or if it can really cause issues?
What the person before me said was true. It's because of irritation and rashes. If you would really like to still use it, then wait to see if what you've already used there gives you any sort of rash. And then, you might want to try leaving it on longer in a small area, and then if that still doesn't give you a rash, then consider using it on the entire area.

I really need help. My boyfriend of two years broke up with me a few weeks ago and it's getting really hard to handle. I knew that I'd be crying a lot and facing a lot of pain, I'm just in a really bad moment of pain.
I've been crying a lot every night because he has a new girlfriend and it really hurts to think about. I know that I should be talking to someone and I do have a really supportive family. I guess I'm asking if theres anything more that I could be doing at this point?
He had an away message talking about how much he loved his girlfriend and it set me off into depression. Can anyone help any further when it comes to dealing with a break-up?
First you should stop reading his away messages, and if it's too hard to keep yourself from reading his messages, then delete him, or at least hide him from your list altogether.
Keeping up with his life is only going to make you feel worse, as you've already found out. I know how much it sucks to be the one in the relationship who was dumped, and to see the other person move on first.
There is no reason why you need to have him on your list, I know it's easier said than done, but you really should consider taking him off of your list. It's not as if you'll never be able to talk to him again, or you'll never be able to know what he's doing in his life again, but for now, just try to ignore that he exists.
By the way, it's been a few weeks, and he's already "in love" with a new girl.
What an asshole.

my dog is scratching his skin like raw...I dont know why. It's gotten so bad that by his eye, he actually bleeds sometimes. Im really scared for him and it bothers me to see him with blood. I wipe it off, but I hate looking at the bloody tissue. He gets scabs now in that area. Why does he do this? COuld his nails be too long? Is there anything I can do to stop it?
First, call your vet.
This could be a contagious disease that you can catch.
It sounds like it could be sarcoptic mange, because it starts around the face area, especially eyes, and maybe ears.
Don't try to give him home remedies before you call your vet so that they can figure out what it is.

I have a lovely female chihuahua who will soon be 9. She's had two operations only; one was a routine desexing operation, the other an operation to remove an anal gland. This was a while ago though, and she seems to be in very good health, perhaps just a bit plump.
Anyway, the vet told us a few weeks ago that she had a heart murmur, at the stage of 2 or 3 out of five (I can't recall) and stressed that she would likely start showing symptoms soon. He warned us to look out for uncharacteristic laziness and reluctance to exercise, and wet coughing -- if we spotted either of these symptoms, she was to be started on medication straight away.
Now, we haven't seen any of these symptoms yet -- she still _loves_ to go for walks -- but she does tend to snort more often now. It might just be old age or the particular physiology of the chihuahua, but I can't help but be nervous.
Two questions:
1) What _does_ a wet cough sound like exactly? I've just realised I'm not certain.
2) A dog with heart murmurs on medication -- can she still have a good, longish life? I guess my concern is her quality of life -- I would hate to see her well-being deteriorate rapidly after this diagnosis, it would pain me so much.
It's kind of hard to figure out if it's a wet cough or a dry cough. Basically, if it's a harsh honk, and sounds like just air, then it's a dry cough. It's a gargled or ... um.. wetter cough (sorry, the only word I can think of to explain ti) then it's a wet cough.
The medication "should" be able to make her have a better quality and length of life. I only say should because I'm not sure of what medicine your vet is thinking of or what the symptoms of it would be. You should seriously consider calling your vet and asking them these questions. I have a cat that might have to go on some medications because of a heart murmur that could be caused by cardio myopathy, which is a thickening of the heart walls. If I don't put her on these medications when the time comes, then her death will be a very quick death, and quite painful for the cat, and for us to see. I've seen animals come in after death from cardiomyopathy at the animal clinic that I work at, and it's not too pretty.
I would say that the medicine shouldn't do anything bad like make her tired or sick. It should only help her heart condition stay out of the danger zone. But, you should call your vet just to make sure.

whats the difference between a male possum and a female possum?
A male possum produces sperm. A female possum has eggs. You know, the same differences between males and females of all species.
I've never seen a possum, so I don't know what the difference in appearance would be, but I'm assuming that one would have a penis, and one would have a vagina. I'm sure you can figure out which one has which.

A vet told some people they horse had water around it heart and told them to give red cell for a month.
A was told not to do it. Can you give a answer?
Red cell is vitamin-iron-mineral supplements for horses. I see no reason why you shouldn't give it to the horse, since it's basically the same as a person taking vitamins and mineral supplements aside from their normal food.
As to whether or not it will help with the excess water around the horses heart, I'm not sure of that. If you are worried, then ask another veterinarian.
