and my mom doesnt know that my uncle's dog bit me

InsaneSanityBabi answered Wednesday May 17 2006, 6:58 pm: you more than likely just have a deep muscle bruise... if it didn't break the skin, then you have no worries what so ever.... im a lifeguard, trust me on this... if the skin wasn't broken, then all you ahve is a bruise... if it hasn't subsided yet (which some bruises can last up to 2 weeks) try putting ice on it for 15 min. a day.... all the bruise is is broken blood vessles under the skin [ InsaneSanityBabi's advice column | Ask InsaneSanityBabi A Question ]
russianspy1234 answered Tuesday May 16 2006, 12:53 pm: if you are still alive, you dont have rabies. from what i remember it kills you within like 5 days, drives you bat shit crazy after 2.
here2help1143 answered Monday May 15 2006, 7:16 pm: no even though there is a bruise i highly doubt that you have rabies, if it makes you feel better you can talk to a doctor about it but since it did;nt even break through the skin i think that the chances are very slim
Emmiekiddo567 answered Monday May 15 2006, 5:35 pm: The bruise is there probably because he bit you. but to be 100% sure your ok you shoud go to see a docotor. And i did some research on rabies for school and since it is a very deadly disease if you had rabies you would be dead in 7-10 days. But dont freak out because you would have noticed from the symptoms which are:malaise, fever, headache, anxiety, confusion, agitation, abnormal behavior, hallucinations, insomnia, and the most noticble excessive uncontrolable drooling from the mouth. If he said he got the shots then im postive your not going to die, but just to check in with a docotor since its an ANIMAL BITE.
Best of luck

DancinCutie08 answered Monday May 15 2006, 4:56 pm: its hard to say but you should go see a doctor. even if he got a rabies shot hes not 100% protected and once you get simptoms of rabies you have a 90% chance of dying. if you see a doctor now and you do have it you have a much better chance of getting cured [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]
karenR answered Monday May 15 2006, 4:28 pm: The bruise may be sore a few days but, if the skin didn't break and your uncle says the dog has had its shots (which doesn't even matter since skin wasn't broken), you will be fine. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
Tulipg17 answered Monday May 15 2006, 3:36 pm: Even if you don't get rabies (which you probably don't, it's only a question of whether or not you trust your uncle) you could still get an infection. Keep an eye on that wound and go to the doctors if you notice ANYTHING unhealthy looking. You really should tell your mother, it sounds like that dog is hostile. thspiral answered Monday May 15 2006, 1:35 pm: If you are sure that the dog has been immunized against rabies, then I would not worry about contracting rabies from this animal. (Not totally impossible, but the odds are so extreme, it is not worth considering). A more real worry is infection at the site of the bite. Keep the wound clean and covered. When you change the bandage (several times a day) check for redness, swelling or pus formation. If you notice any of these things I would recommend seeing your family physician, just to be on the safe side. [ thspiral's advice column | Ask thspiral A Question ]
tasuki answered Monday May 15 2006, 8:53 am: You're most likely fine. You just have a bruise from the bite. The dog wasn't foaming at the mouth or anything, right? Although your PE teacher is correct--you really should go to the doctor anytime you've been bitten by an animal. It's your call, though. If you went to the doctor they're just going to ask you, "Did you know the animal? Did it have rabies shots? Was it foaming at the mouth? etc." I know because I had to do it once. If you say the dog had his shots and wasn't foaming at the mouth, they'll most likely say that there's nothing to worry about. [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]
Alin75 answered Monday May 15 2006, 8:24 am: It is very unlikely you have anything. In general, rabies is not what you should be worrying about. That disease is practically non existant, and in a dog that has had shots the risk should be pretty much zero.
There are however other things that can be passed on through biting (and I dont mean just dogs here, human bites can actually be worse). When I got bitten by dogs when I was a kid they gave me a tetanus shot. However, I was chewed on like a rag doll. In your case, I really doubt there is anything to worry about. However, if you want to make sure, have a doctor look at it. [ Alin75's advice column | Ask Alin75 A Question ]
selectopaque answered Monday May 15 2006, 7:37 am: ok, here's the thing. A dog is possible to get rabies even if he's had his shots, it's just that he won't get rabies unless his immune system is ultra super bad. Which is probably not the case.
If you had rabies you would not be frothing at the mouth, so don't listen to the person before me.
If this was strange for the dog to do, and you gave it no reason to bite you, such as teasing it, then you should isolate the dog and monitor your health. If you start to feel a bit strange, in any way at all, I would see about getting the rabies vaccine (yes, for humans, but it's very expensive and a long process)
Your friends and gym teacher are telling you to go to the doctor, because you should go to the doctor when a dog bites you. Just to get it checked out and possibly get an antibiotic to decrease any risk of infection from a dirty dog mouth.
Your arm is bruised because the pressure from the dogs jaws bruised your blood vessels.
herbivore answered Monday May 15 2006, 7:19 am: hey. is your mouth frothing, are you having bad spazams? if not then im pretty sure that you dont have rabies. if anything bites you it is going to leave a mark, and if something big bites you (like a german shepered) then you will have a bigger mark. but if you are still unsure, you can go to your doctor and they can check you out. the first signs of rabies in humans are nonspecific: fever, anxiety, and malaise. remember, the dog had rabie shots and your probally did too. hope this helps!! :) ♥ ♥ ♥ [ herbivore's advice column | Ask herbivore A Question ]
DeadMemories answered Monday May 15 2006, 1:51 am: No, you don't have rabies. When a cat, dog, etc. bites you, your going to be bruised. He can't get rabies if he has had shots.
