Chemist, musician, artist, programmer, coach, husband, dad, uncle, etc.
So yeah.

my boyfriend thinks my freinds are silly people but they are not (link)
|
Who cares?
Is him thinking they are silly a bad thing? Hell, most of my friends are absolutely rediculous. But then again, so am I, so what's the big deal? If he's saying this to imply your friends are bad, then perhaps you'd best think why he's saying this to you... is he tring you get you to alienate your friends as a way to manipulate you? Is he a control freak? Does he just really not like your friends? If you can answer yes to any of those, then you'd best be asking yourself why you call this guy your boyfriend.
|
dear, any one
one of my friend is a gay/lisbaian
person i dont think its tht bad but it goes alout against my religion is it wrong of me not to care even tho my religon says that they will not go to heaven at least thts wat my mom says but im 16 and 16 a very confussing age

You could always make up your own mind and not let religion dictate such things to you. There is a time and a place to separate the religion (the rules) from the spiritual aspect. Maybe you're reaching one of those times.

I have a 3 year old daughter with an UNCONTROLIBLE temper and she slaped my friend in the face what should I do? (link)
|
Well... was the face slap in a tantrum? Or was it during play?
If during a tantrum, hey, it happens. Can't really do anything about it while a small child is having a tantrum...
As far as hitting goes, you need to make her understand that hitting other people is not acceptable. The "time out" concept will only work if it immediately follows the hitting, and she is pretty much restrained by you, typically with you calmly explaining that such behaviour is "bad" and that hitting people is not nice, etc.
Thankfully, most little kids don't stay is a hitting phase for very long. My youngest just went through one a while back (though he still tries to beat up on his big brother).

I want to get breast surgery to make my boobs larger, but I wanted to know what you guys think. Should I get breast surgery? I am only an A cup right now and I don't feel comfortable wearing tank tops or any clothes that show my real size. I want to make them at least a B cup. If I do decide to get surgery, is who should I consult to get on with it? Has anyone already got surgery who can tell me the price and the side-effects? Thankyou for your help (link)
|
The side effects include many possible complications from the implants. Your breasts could lose sensitivity and could become hard as rocks.
Your age would be relevant here, as breasts generally continue to grow for quite some time. I know someone who had a "boob growth-spurt" in her 20s. Breasts also get bigger after having had kids.

I have liked this guy for a really long time and i really want to go out with him. He really likes me too. The problem is neither one of us is brave enough to ask the other one out. So do you think i should make the first move or wait for him. I hear him talking about me all the time. What should i do? (link)
|
If by "really long time" you mean months, and nothing has happened...
Personally, I say go for it. Ask away. You might try to keep it low-key and/or casual at first, as to not scare him off, but you're better off asking than waiting for something that may not happen otherwise.

Ive noticed my friends all around me are starting to get married. Sometimes I feel the pressure from society that its a womans role or duty to define herself as a wife and a mother...but somehow I dont think I am equipped with those feelings. I feel like I had a taste of what living with someone was like. I was with a guy for 3 and a half years--I loved him to death and I honestly think I couldn't have found a better guy or even imagine it, and somehow every morning when I wake up and have breakfast with the person, I dont feel good--it feels weird..the night before would be exciting and wild and fun but in the morning I feel like a domesticated housewife getting ready for the day and seeing my "husband" off to work. Maybe I have intimacy issues. I like spending time with people and having fun when I feel like it and I like being alone when I feel like it. I don't want to live with someone that has to be exposed to my moods 24/7, I am just not comfortable with it nor am I comfortable with their moodiness. Girlfriends are a different story. I think that as long as I find plenty of friends and activities in my life I will be okay...but I feel a little weird for feeling this way because I love being in love. I dont know..maybe its because every single person in my family is divorced...or maybe because relationships are so fickle nowadays and everybody seems to leave one another..I am probably scared of the investment. P.S.--At some point in my relationships when they last a long time--I always do something to sabotage it..its as if I really dont want it to last. What is going on with me? Are these real indicators or am I just jaded or is it my age? I am 25 years old. (link)

Why does marriage mean that you are inherently "settled down". Why does marriage mean that you must magically become "domesticated"?
Anyway... I would honestly suggest talking to some sort of professional about this. It would appear that you have some various anxiety issues surrounding commitment.

why do people say u r wut u eat? (link)
|
it might stem from the fact that when you eat stuff, you digest it, and what you digest is used by your body for nutrients and nourishment... that silly "metabolism" thing... and that whole metabolic process includes such silly things as growth and cell repair and replacement... which means your body breaks down food and that food is used to make new cells... new you.
Thus, quite litterally, you ARE what you eat.
I thought they taught that back in early elementary school...

I had the scariest day of my life the other day. I am an advicenator as well and the other day, i was walking to the park, and a guy sexually assulted me. The worst thing he did was finger me but it was still scary. I don't know what to do. I can't tell anyone because i already have enought problems as it is. I am only fourteen and haven't even had my first kiss yet. People are always spreading rumers that i am not a virgin and i was okay with it until now. Please Help me
Violated (link)
|
You need to come forward and tell someone of authority.
Get it to the cops. Get a description of the person who did this to you.
If you don't, then what's to stop this same thing from happening to others?
No, what I'm suggesting isn't easy. Rumors spread by idiots should not influence such a decision.
You were assaulted, and that is a crime. You are a minor, which adds to the crime. No one should have to suffer through that.
Please, let an adult know who will not only better be able to help you, but also help get the creep who did this put away.

I am in love with this guy and I think he is in love with me too.We are both 13. When we are by ourselfs he is all over me but when we are around other people he acts like he is just my friend. What do I do? I am a girl. (link)
|
Well...
I think the two of you are probably very infatuated with each other, and the concepts of love are probably very new and exciting.
When alone, he's not going to feel as inhibited and will act as such. In public, he knows that everyone else can see what he is doing, and will therefore be more shy.
And what's wrong with being friends? You can't love someone if they aren't your friend.

My cat, she is going bald. Whatever should I do? (link)
|
You know what? That's just really odd.
Do you have more than one cat? Not that I know of cats having this issue, but mice do...
...for you see...
I have two mice. And well, I've realized that one is whatis termed a "barber". Yes, she gets overzealous with cleaning her roommate, and chews the 2nd mouse's hair off. The poor little dark brown mouse has huge bald spots on her back and neck, and has no whiskers - all because her sister has removed them. The dark brown mouse used to have a very lovely coat.. but no longer. I had thought that the brown mouse did it to herself, until I watched them grooming one evening, and the white mouse had the brown on squeaking angrily, trying to escape her chewing of fur. I separated them for a moment, but knew that sadly, there was little I could really do about it.
So... what does this mean for the cat? I have no clue.
Look for signs of skin irritation in the area of hair loss... also, look for signs of a skirmish with another animal. Best of all, take the cat to a vet and see what they say. With mice, anyway, there are a multitude of reasons for fur loss... for all I know, it is the same with cats.

For my AS open book exam I have to write a paper on the development of the Modern Periodic table, including info on:
Early attempts at classification
Mendeleev
The discovery of gallium- unusual properties, metal vs non-metal, dative covalent bonding etc
Atomic Spectroscopy- relation to an understanding of atomic structure
UNILAC accelerator(sp)-as above
Changing work of Scientists
Synthesisation of elements
Isotope 174 of Element 114
I could really use a little help. I've written most of it, 924 words out of a maximum 1000 but I should do a little improving before it's handed in. The final deadline is Wednesday morning. Today is Monday and my chemistry teacher isn't here.

Hi! I'm a chemist. I chem things. No! Really!
I'm willing to look over what you've got so far, if you're willing to send it to me. If you'd like, you can send your draft to sporkopolis2001@yahoo.com and I'll try to read over it this afternoon and/or evening and get back to you tonight with thoughts/comments.
Personally, I'm a big fan of boron and hydrogen half-bonds... but that's really another issue...

Should I tell him I snooped? And should I be suspicious? I have no reason to think he'd cheating, but still, I wonder... This #'s were in his contacts list. (link)
|
OMG!
I had better get rid of all the women's names in my cell phone, email, and palm device!
I have to ask first why you were snooping to begin with? Are you trying to find something wrong?
If you have no reason to think he's cheating, yet you follow that up with "but still, I wonder"... that sounds to me that you are the one with a problem of insecurity. Maybe you should talk this over with your husband - but don't expect him to be very happy about it at first. Should you decide to do this, make sure you make it clear that the issue is NOT him, but is more your insecurity.
The other thing would be this idea: marriage is about trust... so where is it? You are telling us that you're not trusting of your husband. So why is that?
From my opening remarks, I hope you get the point I'm trying to make. I work with a LOT of people. I have their names, phone numbers, addresses, emails all over the place. Some are people I'll call, so I have their numbers in my cell phone. Yes, some are men, some are women, some are people my wife knows, some are not. I don't expect to know everyone she knows, nor do I expect her to meet all my coworkers and clients.

my ex bf has a gf now. but he has recently agreed with my friend that i am beautiful (he didnt even say that when we were going out) and he ends emails with luv ya. and he sent me a lovesick smiley. i am sure he likes me but i dont wanna break up his gf and him. and his sister is gonna kill me if i go back out with him. she thinks im gonna cry over him. even though i havnt cried over him the last 2 times he broke up with me. but i still really really like him. i dont know what to do! what do u think? (link)
|
if he's already broken up with you 2 times, why give him the chance to do it a 3rd? Sounds to me like it is time to move on.

My friend's teenage brother died last night in a car crash.....what should I say to my friend? (link)
|
The best thing is to just extend your condolences / sympathy, and offer to be there for them. People deal with grief in different ways, and I'm sure your friend is still in the shock stage. All you cna do is to be a friend for them, which can be very important.

I have a really good friend. She is head over heels for the guy of her dreams. She even now dates him. She is overbering in a caring way. She really likes him but while she was gone i found something out. He thinks that she is crazy and is going to break up with her. I know if he does, she will be devistated. Should i tell her of the impending doom. If i do she might hate me but if i dont she will lose the guy of her dreams. What can i say? (link)
|
You might try to drop a subtle hint so that it won't level her... but do so in a very delicate manner.
|
Hey I am a 14 year old in middle school, and i need to know when to ask a girl out. She is very uptight about school and does not seem that out going. I really like her and i am tring to observe some signs that she like me. any ideas?
(link)

talk to her...
strike up a conversation and just talk to her.

Who do you think will win the tournament, and why? (link)
|
HHAHAAH!!!
I had Gonzaga and Stanford in the finals.
This is the worst I have ever done picking in the later rounds.
Currently, I like St. Joes... but Xavier is scary as hell (Duke should be worried).
Duke is a perrennial favorite, but damnit, I'm sick of Duke.
I think Kansas will take out GT.
I'll take St. Joes over Oklahoma St.
Pick UConn over Alabama.
and I really don't want to pick the Xavier-Duke match-up... but it should be one hell of a game.

I keep trying to get my bread to rise in the oven, but it always seems to fall flat. Would you happen to know why it never seems to perform? (link)
|
oh wow... made me think about that, and even look up some info... if I see her, I'll get feedback from my grandmother, too (as she is the resident master and commander of all things food within the family).
But:
I'd guess one of two things:
You either aren't adding enough yeast (or your yeast is no longer any good - do you store your yeast in the fridge?)
or...
You are baking the bread too long - so the bread really does rise, but then as it bakes for beyond what it needs the air inside escapes, causing the bread to fall flat.
We have a breadmaker machine at our house, which makes life much easier in that regard.. I think I've only done bread in the actual oven once, and that was in college.

I was wondering about a hypothetical situation. Suppose one of your friends has a disagreement with another one of your friends. Would it be good to ignore anything that person says to you to get back at him/her for arguing with your other friend? (link)
|
The problem here is that you've given a hypothetical AND vague example...
Now, the most politically neutral thing would be to blow them both off. The 2nd "neutral" option would be to admonish them both, informing them to work out their differences without feeling the need to drag others unfairly into it.
But, you might agree with one over the other, or have some insight / knowledge into the situation that makes it hard for you to stay impartial. When that happens, you might have very good reasons for taking sides.
People are undoubtedly complex, so there's really no easy answer to this. What is "right" is going to depend on the exact situation and your distance from the matter. You might play Switzerland, you might take a side, or you might get stuck playing judge, where you have to moderate and politic the two back to speaking terms.
So, really, I've managed to say all that without really giving a forward answer. It'll be up to you to decide what it your best course of action.

Hey. Im getting a guitar for my birthday. And the sad thing is that i dont kow how to play one. Which means i need lessons. But i am lacking in the monetry department at the moment... so im gonna be a laxy screw and get them off the internet or summink.
Does anyone here use those online guitar lessons?? Do you reckon theyre any better/ worse than real live people lessons??
Any tips on starting out on the guitar would be peachy too.
Thanks n stuff...

I can't see on-line lessons being very useful. There's no interation with the instructor, no actual feedback from a teacher. No one to tell you if you're really doing it right... it just won't really work from a practical standpoint.
