My name is Laura and I'm 28 years old. I live in Illinois and work as a licensed veterinary technician. I am a runner, bookworm and obviously, an animal lover.I've been on this site since '05. I take hiatuses, but I'm never gone for good. I enjoy giving advice and I've made such lovely friends on this site that I couldn't imagine giving it up!
chat it up yo.
ps. here's my bestestestest friend.
I love him. You will too :)
advice
where can a buy a beige/skin colored lipstick? preferably at a drugstore?
Just go to the drugstore and look, or ask somebody who works there. I'm sure they'll have something similar to what you're looking for.

Am I related to someone if my gramma's sister is married to his gramma's brother?
I don't think so. If anything, you'd be related by marriage and not blood. I'm not completely sure, though.

15/F I need your opinion. When I like a guy i tell him then he said we'll be better off as friends of course I feel a little embarrassed and sad, but I understand. Then we become best friends and we tell each other everything. Then they start to like me, but I don't like them anymore and when I tell them they get either mad or sad. It happens all the time with a guy that I like. Is it wrong for me to tell them I like them? And why do you think this happens to me? Lastly what can I do for it doesn't happen again? Thanx.
Thanks for inboxing.
I don't think it's wrong that you tell them you like them. If anything, I envy you for it. The only tip I can give you about it, is to maybe wait a little longer until you actually tell him. Maybe wait until you're actually at the "tell each other everything" stage.
Why do this happen? I don't know, and I don't think anybody does. Sometimes that's just the way things work =/
As far as what you can do to prevent this, like I said, wait a little longer to tell the guy you like him. This way, you'll get closer to him and maybe he'll have started developing feelings for you?
I hope this helps!

I love listening to bands like Metallica, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Guns n Roses and Smashing Pumkins. Do you know any more bands that sound similar to them? Any suggetions would help. Thank you.
Thanks for inboxing =]
Have you ever listened to The White Stripes? Normally, I'm not into that type of music, but my two guy friends hate my favorite bands and got me into them. So definitely look them up.
I really don't know any more, but I know somebody who might be able to help you. Here's his column:

i had a question about someone i loved and i got answered. but now i realize she doesn't love me.. but i still love her. and i feel this strange inside. all i want to do is listen so sad music, think about her, and write her poems (i made 5 in 5 minutes wtf) but i just don't know what i should do.. i don't want to move on yet I'm not ready to give up... i don't know what i should do...
Write poems and listen to sad music. If it's helping you heal, then keep doing it. It'll get better with time.
Just don't let it take over your life. Do other things, too. Go to the mall, go see a movie, go for a walk, paint a picture, something.
-Laura (16-f)
So I got back from a long trip only to find out that I have mono. I'm not really sick anymore, just realllly tired all the time- just walking to the bathroom makes me exhausted. How can I speed up the healing process and get more energy?
Already drinking water and taking vitamin c.
Thanks.
Make sure you're getting 8 to 10 hours of sleep every night. And not just that, but make sure you're going to sleep and waking up around the same times every night and morning.
Exercise. even though you'd think it would make you MORE tired, it does the opposite. So, go for a walk every evening after dinner or run on the treadmill for 20 minutes every day after school.
Add more iron to your diet.

ok so my bf isnt the romantic type. all he cares abt is sex. but i really like him. wat should i do? i really dont wanna break up with him.
Talk to him about it. Just be honest with him, and tell him you feel like all that matters to him is sex. Let him know that you don't want to break up, but you're interested in more than just the physical aspect of the relationship.
-Laura (16-f)
i dont know if this is weird but i love talking to random people. not like, aol chat rooms where you talk for 2 seconds and then someone ims you wanting sex from you but just casual conversation. are there any websites that are safe and let you talk to people your age (16-18years old)??
p.s. i really love talking to foreign people. like from england, ireland or france (i speak some french)
Try visiting the forums on this site! There are a ton of awesome people to talk to =]
You can drop by mine anytime.
-Laura (16-f)
how do you hide pictures in the picture section?
Click "Add/Edit Photos".
Click an album.
Click "Options".
Where is says "Viewable by", click "Me Only."
You can only do complete albums. If you don't want a complete album private, make a new album with those you DO want as private, and repeat those steps for the new album ^
-Laura (16-f)
you answered my question about the ipods breaking, and how the battery lasts around 2 years. are you able to replace the battery once it runs out? and do you have any idea how much this would cost?
My best friend had an iPod battery problem once, and she had to sent it in. I do not know where or how much it costs, though.
I'd suggest either going to the Apple store and asking somebody who works there, or trying the Apple website =]

-The Ting-Tings
-Be Your Own Pet
-Hyper Crush
-The Bravery
...anything along those lines or any music you'd like to suggest is fine.
Thanks! =)

I have a girl that i know and we are friends and i would like to be more than friends but i dont want to risk loosing her as a friend if it doesnt work out.
Well, here are some things girls like in a guy. I think it might help you;
http://www.advicenators.com/qview.php?q=545439
From there:
1. A good sense of humor.
- A good sense of humor is always beneficial. And not a stupid "that's what she said!" sense of humor, somebody who can genuinely make an original joke. Making a girl laugh is one of the best things you can do in an effort to "win her heart".
2. Intelligence.
-Being smart is good, too. Us girls don't want to talk to somebody who can't count higher than 10, or who doesn't understand what's happening in the world. You don't have to be a total know it all, just smart enough to hold a decent conversation.
3. Nice guys.
- Nice guys DON'T finish last. If you compliment a girl, chances are she won't forget it any time soon. However, if you're mean to a girl, she'll remember for A LOT longer.
4. A good appearance.
- I'm not going to lie and don't think I'm shallow, but looks are all you have to go on for the first few minutes of knowing somebody. So if you're shirts half untucked, your shoes are untied, and your hair is unbrushed and a mess, chances are girls won't be into it.
5. Showing interest/having similar interests.
- I cannot tell you how attractive it is when I'm talking to a guy and he asks my favorite band, and the replies with, "I love The Rocket Summer, too!" Ask questions, and tell her when you like something she likes. If you have a lot in common, your relationship will go a lot farther than if you have nothing in common.
Those, however, are just the things I like but like I said, it's different for different girls. But a good sense of humor and giving a girl compliments are DEFINETE ins.
As far as if you should ask her out or whatever, why not? Well, there are 2 major options you can go about to solve this problem:
1. Be blunt about it.
2. Be shy about it.
I highly suggest being blunt about it, and either asking her if she's into you too, or simply asking her out yourself.
Or, you can go the other route and be shy about it, possibly doing nothing to show her you're interested in her. Sometimes, people who use this method drop subtle hints such as smiling or having a friend ask if he's into you [this only shows that you're too shy to do it yourself]. This option is really kind of stupid, and is used all too much...
As I always say:
Life is WAY too short to not take chances and risks once in a while. Why sit around wondering what could've been, what would've been and what should've been, when you can answer all of those questions and then some by being honest and telling a girl how you really feel about her?
Good luck =]
