can someone tell me if i need the first sim game installed onto my computer, in order for me to install the The Sims 2 or another Sims game?

The answer is no. You're thinking about expansion packs. Like back when The Sims was awesome and there wasn't a Sims 2, you couldn't have "Hot Date" or any of the other expansion packs until you had the original software.

You don't need the original Sims to install the regular Sims2,
However, to install expantion packs [example Sims2 Seasons] then you need the regular Sims2 installed on your pc first.
