EasyPeasy answered Sunday August 17 2008, 2:46 pm:
Ok, so they're very similar. The first one is more universally flattering, UNLESS you have a square or round face.

This is because square and round faces (round faces are virtually a circle shape) are always very short and wide. The second style is perfect for a square or round face because of the height on the top of the head for balance, and the assymetry. Imagine someone with a square face and a middle part: they're much better off with a side part for the assymmetry. Also, the pieces down the side of the model's face in the style help to lengthen the face and hide the square face's harsh angles of the jaw.
The first style would be better for a face leaning more towards the rectangle face shape, which is a very tall and thin face. This is because this hairstyle is flat on the top of the head, so as not to emphasize the height of the rectangle face, and the added texture, symmetry and width will create the fullness that a rectangle face sometimes lacks.

If you are unsure, ask the stylist! (I hope he or she is a good one, too. :))

Depends on what your face shape is and everything.
The MadRadHair community on LJ is helpful. You can post a question there:

I would print these 2 pictures out and show them to the stylist and ask which one would go better with your face shape. They look pretty much the same, so you can also show them to him/her to give them an idea of what you want and then just let them cut and style the way they think would look best for you.

Good luck.

They looks really really similar, but if I had to choose, I'd pick the first one.

I personally like the first one better. However, you can see in the pictures that the first one looks well on a heart-shaped face, and the second looks good on a more oval-shaped face. So whatever works with your face shape will be best. Both are very cute though (:
