~~Rissie
No matter what anyone says, the answer is really simple: There are no exercises whatsoever that will help you lose fat around your thighs and stomach.
To elaborate, there are no exercises whatsoever that can target fat loss to any area of the body. Sit-ups dont shrink your stomach, lunges or squats dont burn fat off your legs etc etc. Fat loss cannot be spot reduced, the human body does not work that way period.
They only thing you can do is go on a general weight loss program. Then as you lose weight (through proper diet and overall exercise) your body will pull fat cells from all over. Hopefully sooner rather than later, these will come from your thighs etc. Dont spend the next year doing crunches or twirlly thingies or whatever anyone might tell you to do. Not unless these are part of a proper training routine. These build muscle on an area thats all.
Anyway, here is a link to a site with all sorts of exercises. There are a bunch for the abs and glutes that dont require equipment of a gym. Overall though, going to a gym is the best option.

Good luck.
this is most likely the wrong category but whatever i was just wondering can you be gay if you dont want to.
Normally I dont answer a question that already has so many replies. Only doing this since I read that answer in the middle talking about it being a choice.
Being gay is no more a choice than being straight. Your sexual orientation, whether or not it has anything to do with genetics or with your environment, is hardly a decision you make.
I am appalled when people come up with stuff like that. I am straight, and there is no way that I could ever "turn gay" (though it is interesting to note that anyone who claims that it is a choice is inadvertently saying that they could in fact turn gay).
No one knows for sure how a human's sexual orientation evolves. There could be many factors that contribute to it, and in time we may learn what they are. However it is hardly a conscious decision, like choosing what colour shirt to wear, or what cereal to eat.
yesterday a guy friend i have said i look like im Swedish. i don't know what swedish people look like so i dont know if that's a compliment or not? i'm really italian not swedish. so what features to polish people have? and when he said i look like im swedish is that a good thing or is it bad? are swedish people ugly and what features do they have for example like blue eyes? HELP.
Tulipg17 is right. Very odd thing to say. There really is no difference between Polish people and the other slavic folk.
Now swedish might have been interpreted as a compliment, since most people think of Swedes as tall attractive and blonde. The Polish certainly do not have a reputation of being more attractive than any other nation... though in jokes they do have the reputation of being somewhat less bright (just in jokes mind you).
Anyway, not a compliment and probably not an insult. Maybe the guy once saw some Poish person who looks like you. I would ask him if I were in your shoes.
hi. I have muscley legs already so i dont want to gain anymore muscle in them. How do i Make my legs skinnier but still leave my muscle? is there a way to do that? i just want thinner legs
Thing is, since fat cannot be spot reduced (targetted to an area of the body), it follows that the only way to make them skinnier is to lose the muscle or lose fat overall in the body.
Losing fat is a matter of proper diet and exercise and then your body will remove fat from all over your body. Since muscle gain can be targetted you should limit the amount of leg intensive workouts that you do.
However, if ALL you want is skinnier legs, then there really isnt a way to do that. I know people will tell you to do all sorts of exercises ranging from squats and lunges to running, but none of these will do anything but build muscle on the area and/or help you lose weight overall in your body.
If a guy is really tall, does he have a big penis?
Actually height is the one thing that they have correlated to penis size (unlike foot size etc.). That of course does not in any way mean that a tall person has a larger penis. It does however mean that a tall person is more likely to have a larger than average penis.
i'm a 16/m and
i dunno if this is in the right category or not but is it fine that i'm a guy and i shave...everywhere besides armpits and bellow the knees???
i mean i'm pretty athletic looking and really fit...so i thought its just a normal athlete thing.
but some people notice and ask me and its kinda embarassing. some girls like it. some think i'm a freak. i just dont know what to think about it.
i guess i just like the smooth look, body hair is wierd.
The way I see it, it is totally up to you. In all honesty it is a little out of the ordinary, but who gives a damn? If you feel comfortable that way, then thats the way you should do it.
In the end whatever one does that is not "normal", will lead to some people thinking you are a freak.
Personally I kind of enjoy resembling something out of planet of the apes, (and I would need a lawnmower to do what you are doing) but hey, each to his own right?
so i want to loose some wait this summer (20-40 pounds) i am not over wait i just feel fat because i have big bones. i was wonder how long should i go to the gym everyday. i dont want to over do it. and usual i only eat twice a day is that health?
Thats a lot of weight, might take longer than just the summer. Anyhow, ideally you should be doing a combination of cardio and weights. Three times a week of each with one rest day would be a good program.
Eating twice a day is no good. Aim to eat 4-6 small meals a day. Divide your calories relatively evenly between these meals, eating slightly more before workouts. Eating often boosts your metabolism and is a key part of losing weight.
Hello,
I sought you out to ask a question mainly because you are a man & your answers to other peoples questions seemed reasonable & polite. Here goes..
My best friend, her husband, my husband & I hang out sometimes. He is always joking around & teasing me every chance he gets. I also catch him looking at me every time I happen to look over. He will even say things like, "Hey, me & you should go out & have a beer & leave (his wife) with the kids." Just recently, I ran into them at our local video store. We were walking around & talking & then it was time to check out, so, we said our goodbyes...or so I thought. I was the first one done & as I was leaving he said he was gonna put the kids in the car while she checked out. So, he ended up following me out into the parking lot. There, we ended up talking for another half an hour or so. At one point he looked at his older daughter & said, "Look, she (me) must be in the market for a new boyfriend, she's all gussied up." Anyway, I could go on, but, this is long enough already. I was just wondering, from a mans perspective, does he like me or is he just being friendly? Thankx for the input!
Well my first gut instinct is that there is something more there. By the way he is acting I would guess that he is looking to be more than just friends. Particularly because of the way you catch him looking at you all the time.
Thats my take on it anyways, but you should know that this is hardly an area of expertise for me- just so you are warned :)
Good luck.
I have smoked for 2-3 yrs. I have went cold turkey before and after a week i started back up how can I quit and stay a quiter?
Well I had the same problem (smoked a pack a day for years). One of the reasons many people fail is because they are not really ready for the incredible mental strain that quitting causes. I know that I failed because of it, and I had many quit attempts like you.
The advice I gave to a friend of mine trying to quit was dont even try until you have prepared yourself properly. Half hearted attempts simply never work. Its a little like running a marathon, no good if you are only ready to do 10km. Its all or nothing. Also cold turkey is the only way to do it, I wouldnt try scaling down or anything- at least that had no effect for me (the opposite actually).
Its a shame you started again after a week. It varies a lot from person to person, but thats the point from where it slowly began to get better for me. It still took a month to get things under control (and the basic craving never goes away I think... at least it hasnt for me).
You can try the Niccorette thing, it works on some people. However, I find that most people lack the mental resolve and use these products as a way to overcome their lack of willpower. I think thats why so many fail or get addicted to them. That being said, my mom quit with them and she had smoked for like 40 years.
Most people who bother smokers and tell them to quit have no idea as to the extent of the addiction. I saw tests that concluded that smokes can hook you more than most of the major drugs out there on the black market.
Try to remember that if you make it past the first two weeks, and particularly the first month, things will get much much easier. So, set the first month as a goal. Also buy plenty of lolipops/gum/drinks whatever keeps your hands and mouth busy. Avoid other smokers for the first month. Finally, make sure that you are determined that this time is "the one". If you arent wait until you are ready dont even try. Use psychology to your advantage, it sounds stupid I know but I would remind myself daily that I was stronger than they were, and that I wouldnt lose to them.
Anyways, good luck, I hope you make it next time.
alright my internet explore never lets me open a new window when i want to do something. like my mouse always turns into a circle with a line through it. how can i fix.
Sounds more like you have a pop up blocker running. Try look on the toolbar on your explorer (below where the internet address is shown). I am running the yahoo toolbar, you might have the google so it might not be identical. Anyway, there are a number of symbols there and one of them should be a pop up blocker.
Try to disable it. If it does not work, try to disable any other pop up blocker you might be running.
Is running a half a mile in 4 mins and 43 seconds fast regular or slow?
Slow. Would have helped to have some stats... are u male or female... how old are you?
However, by almost all measurements its a slow time. Keep it up though, practice makes perfect.
Okay,so i have a friend who started to use"lean blance" diet pill.
She lost 25 pounds in to weeks.
I really want to use it.
My mom isnt a fan of pills, but hear is my story.
Last summer,i worked out and took dance classes.
Somedays i would work out for 3 hours others 2 hours.
But everyday i worked out ate the right food.
No result,after 4 months.
Zip,nada
So yes i have anger about it,because i pushed myself to a place ive ever pushed myself. And im proud of that.
But,im not happy with the outcome.
So i talked to my mom about it but she doesnt want me to.
The sideafixs are headachs or stomach promblems.
Can,some one help thinks of ways of trying to help my mother understand.
Because she says workout, and it MAKES me so mad.
Because i worked my ass off,and nothing to prove of it.
Its so hard to lose weight.
And im not happy with my self,at all.
Can people give me suggestions as to what to tell my mom ?Please
Please dont delete
I dont mean to come accross as arrogant, really I dont, and feel free to rate me down. However, your mom is right. Diet pills are not good for you. They dont deliver what they promise, they can be a hazard to your health, you often regain any lost weight due to the fact that you still have bad eating habits, and the weight you lost is often not fat.
You mention your friend as proof that they work, I see that example as proof that they are no good. No human should lose 25 pounds in two weeks. That was unhealthy and probably largely muscle and/or water weight.
Also, clearly when you exercised you did not eat right. If you did not lose weight then there was something wrong with your diet. Plain and simple, you are not immune to regular weight loss.
If you want, I can help you with that. However, I fully understand if you hate me right now and the last thing on your mind is dropping a question in my inbox. However, the offer stands.
Good luck.
how one can be most success in ones life?
As people have sort of said, the first step is to define success. If you talk to people about it, you will find that a lot of people dont really agree on how success is measured.
So the question I have to your question is... do you mean success as defined by the majority of society (and this too will vary depending upon where in the world you live), or success as a personal feeling?
If you mean the latter, then thats really an easy answer. Define those things that matter to you in life and then achieve them. You might feel strongly about stopping polution or helping unfortunate children, or animal rights or whatever. Then, to be successful you need to make a difference.
If you mean the former (as defined by the majority of society), and if you live in a typical western society, then its money, fame and power that usually dominate the criteria. If I knew how to get those in abundance, I would be in the Bahamas right now, or alternatively I would be tyranically ruling over some minor nation :)
All I am saying here is that there are really two ways to look at success. One way you might think yourself successful but everyone else may or may not agree, the other way people may find you successful and you may not agree.
I hate to leave you with some cheesy line that tells you to look inside yourself for answers, but in the end thats pretty much what we all have to do.
If the guy you like, asked you if you liked him, what would you say? Should you tell him the truth and take the risk, or just tell him you don't like him and keep it all inside for him to find out?
Thanks.
I would always say take the risk, but thats of course up to you. Certainly dont say that you "dont" like him if you do. I mean, avoid the question, refuse to answer, throw the question back at him, anything rather than lying. If you tell him you dont like him, I think you run a huge risk of losing the guy.
i have really skinny thighs. how do i make them bigger besides running?? will eating help?
Weights at the gym. Much better than anything else including running, and you can control their growth. Here is a link to a site that is full of exercises you can do. Just click on the area you want to grow.
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exercises.htm
ohkay, everyone is telling me that the world is going to end in 4 days (6-6-06) (the devil's number.) I AM REALLY SCARED OVER THIS. I CAN BARLEY SLEEP. im like pettrified. is what they're telling me true or is a myth? and do you believe it? and should i be scared?
thanks guys.
Comfort yourself by knowing that prophecies regarding the end of the world have been in abundance since the dawn of time. They are yet to get it right, but by golly they really do keep trying.
Dont give those crackpots another minute of your time. Seriously, its just another doomsday prediction that will pass like thousands of others.
well, you see... i'm trying to lose wieght for like next week just because i'm paranoid like that... but i need help. i found this really good diet on the internet and it really works! like, i e-mailed the people of the weight loss thing and they even replied. all the success stories are there, and i'm almost sure it works! but, you have to pay twenty seven dollars to download it into your computer. the only reason that she doesn't want to get it is because you have to pay! there must be a way that i can pay for it without having to use like a credit card or something... if anyone has any idea please help me out. THank you.
The others are right, these things tend to be bogus (and remember, all scams come with dozens of "success stories").
Now, the other thing is, you dont need it. Seriously no diet is as effective as eating healthy. In fact, they tend to lead to bad habits even if they work in the short term, then when you come off them the weight returns. Most of the time though much of what you lose is muscle and water.
Anyway, to answer your question, you can only pay according to the payment options they have available. There should be a list. Online checks etc might be an opition, sometimes they also allow sending money. Normally, if you cannot fulfill these criteria, there is no way to pay. However, since you already talked to these people, why not email them and ask?
I don't think there's enough questions on advicenators that mention abortions. I assume there's more females on this site then males, so why does it seem like there are mainly pro-life supporters? We're women. Women with so many choices and laws that allow us those choices. I agree in having your own opinion, but never force it onto someone else. If someone is considering an abortion, why talk them out of it, bringing it up as a sin and disgusting? I'm proud to be pro-choice & you'd think nowadays more women would be. Why aren't you?
I have a couple of points to add to the huge list below. First off, I agree with the columnists that say you seem to be forcing your opion a bit.
What gets me about this is the whole feminist take on it really. Why does it matter what sex you are when it comes to this subject? Fundamentally it is a question of ethics and ones own definition of right and wrong. So, by being male, my view seems somehow irrelevant after reading your question/post.
As it turns out I am pro- choice. I dont believe that one can speak of the "rights" of life of a creature that has yet to gain consciousness. This is a highly debatable topic of course, but that is my view. I think aborting a fetus early in its existance is no different than using birth control.
Anyway, all I wanted to say was that sometimes I really get rather frustrated when a feminist view is forced upon an ethical issue. This is not a question of women's rights, and I fail to see how people consistantly try to argue it that way. This is a question on the fetus's rights. It just turns out that in this case (at least in my opinion), the fetus has none.
Are there many girls that don't shave down there? Or do most? I was messing around with my bf today, and his hands "slipped" down there and I hadn't shaved. I asked him if he minded and he said he didn't, but I dunno. I've never shaved it before and am not sure whether I should start. Can someone give me some advice? I don't want him to be grossed out.
Like everyone said, some guys care some guys dont. Some guys, believe it or not, really do prefer it unshaved (myself for one). Now, of course do what you are most comfortable with. However, if you want to do what you think your boyfriend likes, do not assume he prefers it shaved, he may or may not. If its important to you, ask him.
How many calories or calories from fat should I eat?? (14/f)
No estimate can be given with any accuracy whatsoever without knowing your weight, height, activity level, and whether or not you are particularly musclar or fat.
Here is a link to a site that will approximate this for you. Add your BMR to calories burnt in activities (mind you this is a rough estimate)... note that if you are particularly muscular or particularly fat, the calorie estimates will come out too low and too high respectively.
http://www.preventdisease.com/healthtools/articles/bmr.html
As for fat, the usual recommendation is about 20% of total calories should be from fat. I have however seen as high as 30% being listed as acceptable. Either way, most should be unsaturated.
