hey so i'm a freshman in college, and there's this guy here that i kinda like. but it's kinda complicated. i met him like the first day of school-he lives 2 floors above me. we went to a frat party with a bunch of people, and we hooked up. i haven't really talked to him ever since, and i feel bad about losing contact with him, as he was a really good friend. i would go up to his room just to chat (as i used to), but i feel that at this point it would be really random and awkward, because i haven't talked to him in like 2 months, and his roommate kind of creeps me out. he always seems like he's stoned, and we never have good conversations, which makes it even more awkward for me to go up there. any advice on how i could regain contact with him, without it seeming really weird and awkward? if you tell me to go up to his room, what should i say? i know this sounds immature and stuff, but this stuff never gets easier as you get older. sorry this is long, but any advice would be greatly appreciated-specially if i can fix it before winter break, which is in 2 weeks. thanks a lot!!! get his e-mail and/or AIM screen name. they say the way to a guys heart is through is computer, so see if it works. it will be less awkward for you to go up and chat with him once you have been talking to him via e-mail or AIM. hope it helps!

Lately I've noticed that my feet are very calloused and dry. I took a pumice stone to the callouses and it worked pretty good. However, the wrinkles on my heels are white...like they are cracking. If you feel them, they are smooth. Any idea what this is? I've soaked and scrubbed and as far as I know it's dry skin. Any ideas on how to make it go away? (link)

use neutragena foot lotion like, 3 times a day. the stuff is super thick, and will help a lot b/c it is so thick and has so much moisture content.

just dont go to the dance! if you dont want to look like a total dolt, just say that you have too much momework and you have to do it NOW; thats just too bad that you cant go to the dance. another good excuse is: my shoes are too small, or my foot hurts, or i have a cold.

make flyiers and pass them out by putting them in peoples mail boxes (after the mail person has came is a good idea) or placing them on the front steps or on the front door. you can place flyiers in public places and on telephone poles, shop windows will sometimes let you and so will some gas stations. you can also try the library. sometimes they have a place that you can put up flyiers.

I work at an arcade. I was your basic level grunt for a while: Did all the cleaning and such. Then I started getting more into repairs. Then my boss started to trust me with bigger responsibilities. I always carry two important keys with me on the same keychain with my keys for my car, home, etc: The key to the building, and the key to all the machines. I know the passcode to the security system, and have full access to the register, change machine, basically anything to do with money. I know exactly how much money the business makes, how much goes towards expenses, and how much each individual machine makes. I am trusted to run the place myself on several days of the week. That, my friend, is a LOT of trust that has been placed into me.
I started working there in Summer of 2003, so it's been about a year and a half by now. My starting pay was $6 an hour, and I was paid in cash right after the work day. If I worked for 4 hours, I'd take $24 out of the register and go home. No taxes to deal with or anything. Nice huh? But now I have been promoted to Assistant Manager. Now I am an offical employee. I will be paid on Mondays with a check, taxes taken out. The thing is, I'm going to get a raise, but I am to decide what it should be. Help me out.
Take these factors: I have worked there for a year and a half for the same pay, taxes are now being taken out, and I have to do so much more work than I used to. My pay has to be about $6.50 or $6.75 just to receive the same pay, because of taxes now. So what should I ask for? I hate to have made this so long, but there are a lot of factors at work here. i would go for the $6.50 raise. i know that you obviously have a lot of trust instilled in you, and that your job is no walk in the meadow; but you dont want to seem greedy. and because the taxes are already taken out that changes it up a little. you are doing more work now, and because you have so much trust (passwords, keys, access to the register etc.) you still dont want look like you are taking advantage of them. it is a hard situation because you are having to decide your own pay - that is a big sign of trust. all we as advicenators can do is advise you on what we think is the best choice, and i think that it is a better idea to go with $6.50. i hope that it all goes well for you!

Okay, my friend and I (which of whom is a guy) got really close..because him and his girlfriend were arguing and fighting like crazy! And he'd talk to me ALL the time and ask how i felt about it, and what he should do. and he'd call me every night, and we'd talk for like an hour½-2 hours. He finally ended up breaking it off with his girlfriend. We've talked a little bit since then. Monday rolls along, and he doesn't call me...and hasn't called me since. So last night, i called him and mentioned how i hadn't heard from him in a while and his reply was "i've been busy" so i got off the phone and told him that i didn't want to interfere with his business. I used to really like this guy! ...and now i don't know what's going on! What should i do? advice would be awesome (link)

hey may be withdrawing because of his loss of girlfriend. he probly needs a friend, and some time alone to get recooperated. dont push him to much, but tell him that you are there for him 100%. dont try to be his girlfriend, cause thats not what he needs - at all! he probly just needs some time to think, and figure out what he is gonna do now.

One of my bff's, Becca, who i've known since i was 5 years old has a very bad self image. She thinks she's ugly, but then again I've never met someone who's ever said "wow im pretty" (about themself). She even started crying the other night and saying that she was depressed because she thinks shes ugly. Me and my friend Alicia have told her a million times that shes not ugly but she won't believe us. What are we supposed to do? (link)

the only thing that you can really do is contradict her, tell her that shes is really pretty! you can take her out on a girl night (or a girl/guy night too) and fix up her hair really pretty, make her look awesome, help her pick out some really nice clothes and go see a movie and out to eat or something. she may just want attention and that is the only she knows how to express it. she may have other problems that she is not telling you, like at home or something. if she doesnt have a boyfriend, she may feel that she isnt pretty because she has no boyfriend, or maybe she feels that she has no friends. you will just have to tell her that she is not pretty and that she doesnt need to feel this way.

For like the past 4 months I have been having stabbing pains in my knee when I walk up or down the stairs, kneal down, stand up from sitting down, anything that includes bending the knee. Do you know of anything that I could have done to it or things that I can do to make it better? I went to my doctor before and he just told me there is nothing he can do and it made me really mad cause I am sure there is something he could have done but i don't know. i did that. i had pulled ligaments and tendons and my hamstring. i know that it can be EXTREMLY painful. ice it at night and heat it in the morning, do warm up exersizes when you get up as to warm up the knee. it will take a while to heal, but you will need to take it easy, low grade exersizes, drink lots of water, and ICE AT NIGHT AND HEAT IN THE MORNING! i had to see a knee specialist to find out what was wrong, so just take my advice, and it might be kinda bad now cause it has been hurting for so long. i will probly have lasting effects of my injuries, but hopefully you will not. i hope your knee feels better soon!

nah! dont worry, i know people that were 20 before they had their first kisses, and they were not tomboys, just waiting for the perfect guy to share something special with. if you kiss everyone, then you will not have something special to give the person that you marry! it wont be special anymore. there is nothing wrong with you and you're not missing anything.

areobics will help SO much, weight lifting wont do much but build muscle. thats good, but not really a good thing for losing weight. walking a mile a day will do wonders, but mostly eating right and exersising regurally is what you want to do. like instead of eating a hot lunch at school, bring your own. if you ride your bike that will do awesome to. dont fad diet (thats where you eat absouloutly nothing all day) you just want to eat right. stay away from sugar and chocolate etc. instead of having a cookie, eat an apple or banana. fruit will help you have more natural sugar that is healthy and gives you a lot of energy that is natural.

I went out with this guy (we'll call him Tim) for a few weeks but then we broke up. Now, a year later, Tim is one of my best friends. He tells me anything and always comes to me when he needs advice about his new girlfriend (we'll call her Callie). The problem is that Callie hates me! The reason why is because before Tim dated Callie, Callie had another boyfriend (we'll call him Connor). Connor dumped Callie because he thought I was hot and wanted to ask me out (which he never did). Tim said Callie hates me because she's mad that her ex boyfriend dumped her for me. I don't want her to hate me because she seems like a cool person and I don't like it when people hate me! And I know for sure that Tim is telling the truth about her hating me because he is so sweet! talk to callie and tim and connor. explain that you did not mean to make callie mad, and that you want to be her friend cause you did not plan on connor breaking up with her. tell tim that you need him to back you up, and ask connor why he dumped callie. get callie to talk to connor too. apologize to callie (even though you really didnt do anything wrong) and tell her that you think that shes a cool person and want to get to know her better and that you didnt want to steal her boyfriend.

So this is my first year at this new school and I came here looking forward to a whole new future and being able to restart witha clean slate and nobody knowing who you were or what you were like. And I have been doing pretty good so far I wanted to be friends with everyone, because that wasnt how it was at my old school, and that worked except I had this one bestfriend at the begining of the year now we hardley ever hang out and she says that I am just trying to be popular. She is completely wrong I think???? I tried to explain and she says she understands now but I dont think she does. there is no way that i can say b/c i dont know you. neither are really "bad", just different. you can have lots of good friends and not be popular, or you can hang out and be friends with the "popular" people, but they arent always the most reliable people, its mostly a show. you have to decide which it is.

if you completely sterilize the things that you are going to use SECONDS before you use them, then you have a greater chance of missing infection, but there is still a good chance. it will be EXTREAMLY painful. my aunt had it done for her and it hurt so badly that she took the earing out and let it grow up. its better to pay around 10 bucks and let wal*mart do it, or pay around 20 bucks and let somewhere like claires do it.

tell him that if he really likes you he will get help and quit smoking pot and weed. you dont want to apper desperate, and he might hurt you - not even meaning to - if you are around him and hes high on illegal drugs. its not ok that he does this, especially if hes getting high that often that hes failing athletic tests. it will be hard b/c you like him, but you need to tell him before he ends up somewhere bad like juvinaile delenquency! then jail if nothing goes good!

Ok, so I like this guy and hes my best friends other best friend. And so we havnt MET in person yet, but we talk to eachother a lot and its not dangerous or anything because you know, its my best friends other best friend. Anyways he had sex with this girl the past weekend....and hes 13. It hurt me, but now he says that he doesnt really like her anymore and that if he met me that he would probably like me. dont go with him! you might get pregnant, and then there would be an unwanted child. its not cool to sleep with people when you are not married or even out of your teens!!! its probly not safe to go with him anyway if you dont know him in person. he might hurt you badly.

On Wedesday my dad had to use the recover disk on my computer since it wouldn't do anything. It deleted everything on my computer like it was supposed to. But for some reason the sound refuses to work. The speakers are new and they are plugged in. If you go to Volume Control it says "There are no active mixer devices available" What should I do to get sound. The computer is a E-Machine and we got it in July of 2004. thanx for any help (link)

you may have to buy a sound card for your computer. i had brand new speakers that were hooked up and everything, but the sound card was bad so we had to get a new one. staples may have one, and office depot too.
