she thinks she's ugly
One of my bff's, Becca, who i've known since i was 5 years old has a very bad self image. She thinks she's ugly, but then again I've never met someone who's ever said "wow im pretty" (about themself). She even started crying the other night and saying that she was depressed because she thinks shes ugly. Me and my friend Alicia have told her a million times that shes not ugly but she won't believe us. What are we supposed to do?

She might lack self-confidence. But she might also have anorexia. This is when a girl thinks she is ugly and fat when she is not and may starve herself. Is she secretive? Moody? Does she spend lots of time in the bathroom after eating? Does she eat very little? She may need professianal help. If she /is/ just with very low self confidence, DON'T keep saying how wonderful she is. DO cheer her up and try to keep her mind off of it. If she want to be alone, let her. (And don't give her presents like makeup. That will make her feel worse.)

Take her to a beauty salon and give her a makeover from top to bottom show her what she looks like on the outside then talk about her inner beauty.

the only thing that you can really do is contradict her, tell her that shes is really pretty! you can take her out on a girl night (or a girl/guy night too) and fix up her hair really pretty, make her look awesome, help her pick out some really nice clothes and go see a movie and out to eat or something. she may just want attention and that is the only she knows how to express it. she may have other problems that she is not telling you, like at home or something. if she doesnt have a boyfriend, she may feel that she isnt pretty because she has no boyfriend, or maybe she feels that she has no friends. you will just have to tell her that she is not pretty and that she doesnt need to feel this way.

She wont believe you because your her friends. I think you should try to find a guy that thinks shes pretty, and make him go up to her and say shes really pretty. You could also make a day wear you do her hair/makeup to boost her confidence and then you guys can go to the movies or something..it works.
