bad knee

Question Posted Saturday December 4 2004, 10:51 pm

For like the past 4 months I have been having stabbing pains in my knee when I walk up or down the stairs, kneal down, stand up from sitting down, anything that includes bending the knee. Do you know of anything that I could have done to it or things that I can do to make it better? I went to my doctor before and he just told me there is nothing he can do and it made me really mad cause I am sure there is something he could have done but i don't know. Do u know of anything I can do to make it feel better at least? thanks alot for any help, and if you need more info just post it and I will reply again, thanks again.

Okay, I just got surgery on my knee from my knee cap coming out of place, and the legiment that holds it in place tore. It hurt. At the begining,I wore a brase on my knee to keep it strait, and it got a lot better. See if you can find one to wear, or talk to your doctor about getting one. Try to help it as soon as possible, so you dont end up like me laying on the couch all day, write before winter break.

P.S. this happend to me from a cartwheel on a floor beam, and I heard a big pop as I landed, the injury all depends on how you did it.

Hope i helped!! ~Jess~

well i had the same problem and it ended up that its something really common that some ppl just dont notice because theirs isnt that bad! see, you have scare tissue in your nee, and for some people their born with like extra. all they do is go in for arthroscopic surgry, which is where they just look in with a camara, and if thats the problem then they can just basicly cut it out. the surgry thing kinda freaked me out but its really not bad at all. sure, it hurt afterwards a lil bit, but i walked 2 hours afterwards, and went to church that night! if its not that then maybe you just have like debre or something, like bone chips, just like floating around in your nee, i dont know anything else though! i hope your nee feels better!
much love!

Well first off, take some advil, tylenol, or some pain medicine. Next, try getting some crutches or at least try to stay off of it for a while and see if it gets better

Your doctor is an idiot. I had the same problem. The inner theigh muscle is not strong enough to keep your kneecap in proper place. That irritates the tondons and muscles of your knee. You need some physical therapy exercises that will help you build that muscle back up. If you don't the problem can become permanent and lead to arthritis. A little rest from stairs and asprin to reduce inflammation will help until the muscle becomes strong enough to do it's job, but it's not a good idea to use drugs of any kind as a permanent solution. Good luck!

FunnyCide answered Saturday December 4 2004, 11:11 pm:
i did that. i had pulled ligaments and tendons and my hamstring. i know that it can be EXTREMLY painful. ice it at night and heat it in the morning, do warm up exersizes when you get up as to warm up the knee. it will take a while to heal, but you will need to take it easy, low grade exersizes, drink lots of water, and ICE AT NIGHT AND HEAT IN THE MORNING! i had to see a knee specialist to find out what was wrong, so just take my advice, and it might be kinda bad now cause it has been hurting for so long. i will probly have lasting effects of my injuries, but hopefully you will not. i hope your knee feels better soon!
