I am doing a huge project for my college sociology course and I got stuck with polygamy in the United States. Anyway, I know there are some groups in the U.S. some place that are active in the whole polygamy thing because it's based upon their religion (I think). The problem is that I was told that it was illegal in the U.S. right now. I can't really find much information on WHERE in America polygamy is LEGAL. I tried looking for what states allow polygamists but everything I found says it's illegal in all states. Could someone explain how it's illegal everywhere yet allowed in some place? Or maybe it's a city or something it's allowed in that I'm not finding (and somebody could tell me)? (link)

I did do abit of research, and like you said, every website you go on says its illegal. But i read that polygamy is not enforced strongly in some parts. For example
" some fundamentalist Mormon sects in northermost Arizona and southern Utah continue to practice it openly and there has not been much political will in those states to do anything about it "

it depends on the girl. some girls bleed a lot (but not as much as getting your period) and some don't really bleed at all. most girls don't bleed right away, they bleed the next day or something. and some girls bleed for a few days after. sometimes it takes multiple times to completely pop a girl's "cherry" and you might bleed a few times after having sex

I am fifteen years old and all of my friends get their periods every month like no problem. some of my friends are irregular. irregular as in 4 months maybe? but not one year. yep that's me. i've ever only gotten my period twice. once a year. january 2009, i got it for the first time when i was 13. i hadn't gotten it in a year and then january 2010 i got it for a week. now it's december 2010 and i haven't gotten it ever since.. my boyfriend and i want to start having sex and we will use condoms and pull out but im soooo scared of becoming pregnant. it's so bad. like if i see that precum went through his shorts while dry humping i freakk out. can pre cum get you pregnant? also, even though my period is so irregular do i have just amount the chance of getting preg as everyone else? or am i infertile? my mom won't let me go on birth control.. i also hear it makes people gain weight like crazy and i love my body. so, can someone help me out? you probably still have the same chance of getting pregnant as everyone else, but using a condom and pulling out gives you almost a 0% chance of getting pregnant. but still, things can happen like the condom can break so it's always better to be on birth control just in case. and never have sex without a condom, even if he pulls out. yes you can get pregnant from pre-cum but there is very little chance that his pre-cum is gonna make it through his shorts, through your clothes, and inside you haha. so you should be fine. i started taking birth control about a year ago and it made me gain a few pounds, but nothing too noticeable. if you want to go on birth control without your mom knowing then go to planned parenthood. good luck!

you can't just buy them at a store. you have to get a prescription for them either through your doctor or through planned parenthood. if you don't want your parents to know then it's better to go through planned parenthood. just look it up on google and i'm sure you'll be able to find one in your area. good luck!

personally i don't think you should have sex with him after knowing him for 9 days. it's hard to really know someone after a few months. you should definitely wait. if a guy is asking you to have sex with him after 9 days he is most likely using you. maybe he does have some interest in you but most likely he'll just have sex with you and then go find another girl. make him wait and you'll find out if he truly likes you or not

okay, this is gonna be a long story, but please help me out.
i'm 16/f, and i have a boyfriend of 7 months. however, there's this boy. let's call him trevor. trevor is one of my close friends, and i used to like him, A LOT. for about two years, all i cared about was him. he does little things like rub my back and put his hand on my leg when we're together now, and it drives me insane. i cared so much about him for 2 whole years, but he never seemed to notice. now that i have a boyfriend, he gives me all the attention in the world. he texts me first, he tells me he loves me (in a friend kind of way), he gave me his sweatshirt to wear and keep. we have such a long history of this kind of stuff, it seems like it's all coming to the surface now. i never had any closure with him. i feel like in order to get over him completely, i have to kiss him. ya know, get it out of my system so i can focus completely on my boyfriend. has anyone ever been in this situation before? if so, how did it end up working out? ahh! you sound really confused, but i don't think kissing him while you have a boyfriend is a good idea. i think you need to decide which boy you like more and if you really can't get your mind off of trevor you might need to break up with your boyfriend and see how things go with trevor. if they don't work out at least you know you tried and you won't have to deal with that problem again. if you really care about your boyfriend though you should probably just ignore those feelings for trevor and realize that your boyfriend is more important. good luck!

So, my birthday is coming up soon and I know my mom's going to start asking me what I want for a present. I was thinking maybe a new computer, because I already have a laptop and it kind of gets glitchy a lot because it's a couple of years old. I was looking at my dad's computer, which is one of those newer ones that are really small, because in a year when I go off to college, I'd like something that wouldn't take up a lot of space. I don't really know a lot about computers though :/ Any good brand names I should look at? I just want it to be reliable, fast, and for it to be able to play some games like Sims without glitching up. So, if any of you know a lot about computers, any advice you can give me? I have been communicating with my boyfriend for a year before we got together and we just made it official on Christmas day. Now even though I feel like nothing has changed, I don't feel like he is really committed to "us" like I am. He is the same age but is like a big kid. there's about an 18% chance that you can get pregnant if the guy pulls out because there is a chance that he could have gotten pre-cum inside of you without knowing. hopefully you'll be fine but i wouldn't recommend having sex without a condom again.. even if it is for just a few minutes. good luck!

So it's really weird but I would rather just have sex then do foreplay. I feel more comfortable having sex then giving a guy a handjob or blowjob. I've actually never given either because I'm scared I'll be bad but I've had sex before. It's actually pretty weird. that's not weird at all.. a lot of girls feel like that. obviously guys would appreciate if you would return the favor but you don't HAVE to. if the guy likes you enough he won't be expecting anything. every guy is different. some may be turned off by the fact that you don't want to please them before sex, but most guys won't turn down sex so they'll soon forget about you not wanting to please them. hopefully you'll eventually find a guy you're comfortable enough with to try those things but if you decide you don't want to then that's fine too.

I am in my first year of college and I live in a dorm with many other students so naturally bacteria and infections run amok.
In August, I caught a cold. It went away within a week or so. No problem.
In October, I got sick again, only this time, I was coughing up some nasty phlegm. I waited and battled with it, don't think I ever had a fever, for weeks. I got better slowly with a lot of sleep and cough medicine, but in November it came back (I'm guessing it never really left?). In November, my mother decided that since I had been sick for a long time I should take some antibiotics so she sent me some that she said would help me. Within 3 days of taking them I was completely better. I felt great. A week or so later I started noticing that I still had a little phlegm in my throat but it did not bother me at all I thought it was just remainder of what I had and it would go away. Now I am home on break (three weeks later) and two days ago my throat started KILLING me with pain. It hurt really bad, I took a Tylenol and stayed put for a bit, and it went away I carried on my usual business. I also started coughing and feeling sick randomly but it would go in and out. Just the pain in my throat is what hurts really bad sometimes. I'm also noticing the phlegm in my throat, not a lot, but enough.
Now my question is, will the antibiotic Ampicillin TR cure whatever bacterial (because I'm guessing this must be bacterial) infection I have? Can I take Ampicillin? Because my mother wants me to take it but I don't want it to be the wrong thing or to make the bacteria stronger or immune to antibiotics, I'm afraid that's what it did the first time I took it in November, but that wasn't Ampicillin it was some other form of it my mom says.
*Oh and just as a side note, we are not from the US originally and have several prescription medications for different symptoms from back home where you can buy them at a pharmacy legally without prescription. My mother always buys when she visits and brings it over (legally of course) (link)

I briefly read your question, and eventually stopped because i got the premise of it. Heres my answer:
- Prescription Antibiotics are given out by doctors only. They vary in strength, and uses. The antibiotics given to you by your mother should not have been taken by you, because they weren't for you.
- Presumebely, It wasnt a full pack of antibiotics, as your mother must have taken some. This is completely useless. You must ALWAYS finish a course of antibiotics given to you by a doctor.
- The reason for this, if you take the "i feel better, i'll stop taking them" route, bacteria will still linger. When you stop taking the medication, they will start to grow, and make you ill again.
- But taking the same medication will probably not work now. Because the bacteria that was lingering, would have died if you had completely finished a prescribed course of antibiotics. However, they have probably gained an immunity by it now. Meaning, that medication may have no affect on the bacteria whatsoever because they are used to it.
- Go to the doctors, and explain what happened. Because he/she will have to give you a stronger dose or a different type of antibiotic now, because the prior was used irresponsibly.
- When you get a prescription from the doctor, finish it, completely, no matter how good you feel.
- The above is why most countries dont just sell antibiotics over the counter, because this will eventually lead to superviruses, which kill, and which there are no antibiotics to kill,e.g. MRSA.

My daughter is about school aged and I am trying to decide if I should home school her. My only problem with the idea of homeschooling is that she won't have the social interaction like other kids. I'm not really sure what mothers do when homeschooling children so that the child has enough social interaction with peers to develop correct social skills. What's your opinion on this and are there any methods of teaching that involve other children (preferably small groups or only a couple of children at a time) so that my child can develop the necessary social skills without the need to go to public schools? im against home schooling. Home schooling not only prevents social skills, but almost keeps them in a bubble, thinking that parents will always be there for them. And they also dont face some of the realities that many children will come across. One of these is bullying. No one wants their children to be bullied, but when it happens, some children realise that the world isnt peachy, and it helps to make them stronger.
I dont understand what the problem with public schools are. If you dont like public schools, try a private one? Expensive, but they may help with any problems you have with public ones?

Yes it does. But it also makes you lose a lot of other things. It isnt a fun path to go down so if you're asking this because you want defined cheekbones, then you might have a problem. If you need to talk to someone that has these issues too, write back and we can talk. I'm in the same boat.
