Unfortunately, when you go to another country to go to school you will pay more than natives of that country. Many schools will subsidize people from their country, but not foreign students.
This means that although tuition at my college is only $4000 a year for me, it costs someone from out of the country over $10 000.
If cost is an issue, you should look at staying home to study.
If it isn't, then start making out a list of places you want to live. Then you can start looking at schools and tuition prices.

Q: In english my teacher assigned me a project.
I have to come up with 10 haiku poems.
the first line has to be 5 syllables.
the second line has to be 7 syllables.
and then the third line has to be 5 syllables.

Contemplate nature,
Make a list of nature words,
Then write some haiku.
Some word ideas:
birch, waterfall, ocean, cliff,
Flowers are nice, too.
You don't have to rhyme.
Count syllables on your hands,
Haiku are easy.
Google is your friend.
There are some funny haiku,
like this old classic:
Haiku are easy,
but sometimes they don't make sense.
Refrigerator.

This guy sounds flaky, needy and wishy-washy to me.
So he wants you to be more forthcoming and arrange some conversations and meetings. That's reasonable. What isn't reasonable is to put all of the responsibility on you. That's lazy and just plain rude. If he had wanted to see you so badly, he should have called you.
If anyone is sending mixed signals, it's this guy. He wants you to talk to him, but he's distant and unresponsive. He wants to see you all the time, but he cancels on you. He's projecting his own behaviours onto you in an attempt to make you look like the bad guy. Don't let it work.
You can go ahead and keep talking to him, but he doesn't sound like a quality guy to date. At the first sign of you being disinterested, he ran back to his ex. This doesn't sound like the sort of person you can have a real relationship with.

Q: I've been seeing this guy for a while now and he's a virgin. I'm not. We talked about having sex and he's pretty sure he's ready. If we do end up having sex, I want to make his first time really good. Are there any positions that will make it very pleasuring for him?
Thank you.

If he's a virgin, he will be over the moon no matter what position you're in.
However, I would keep it simple. Stick to one of the basic two (girl on top or guy on top) and you can't go wrong.
Be prepared for it to either last 30 seconds or 2 hours. It tends to go one of either ways, not a happy medium. If he can't orgasm, it's not because you're doing it wrong, it's because it's a totally different feeling and he might be overwhelmed.

I was a virgin until a month before my 18th birthday. I lost it to my first boyfriend, who I had been friends with for 6 years at that point. Even 5 years after breaking up with him, I still love him as a good friend, so I don't regret anything.

Q: Ok, So... i have a large labia. it hangs outside of my outer labia. It looks like a purplish-peachy set of lips that can stretch really far but i have a boyfriend and ... he wants to finger me and i want him to. BUT i am so self conscious about my labia. My vagina is shaven, and does not smell bad at all. The only negative thing is my labia. Every time I don't let him go down on me or finger me he asks why. i just say i'm nervous cause i'm two years younger and i've never done that stuff before but he has. with his ex gf. he always says how his ex's vag smelled really bad and it was gross. so then that makes me self conscience and I never take off my underwear. My sister's make fun of it and call it "The penis." Sometimes even in front of him my sisters joke around and whisper "DID YOU TELL HIM BOUT YOUR PENIS YET?" and I don't think he ever hears them but on the phone i was about to tell him and he was like can i ask you an honest question?.... do you have a penis? i was like NO! and he always talks about how gross his ex gf's vagina was and he loves the fact that i tell him i shave mine.. he's one of those guys that actually care what the vagina looks like! i think that he figured out why i don't show him or let him down there because he's always like "You know that you can tell me anything, I won't care. You can tell me anything." He keeps reassuring if i'm hiding anything from him. ugh. How do i Tell him??? This can't go on forever he eventually is going to find out. My close guy friend told me not to mention it cause then he'll look for it. but my girl friend's think i should cause he'll probably be like wtf and shocked when he starts doing stuff to me. but he's one of those guy's that care about vagina's i think! so what do i do? or say? help me please thank you(:

If your lady parts aren't good enough for him, it's his loss, not yours.
If you keep yourself clean and healthy, he should have no complaints. All ladies are built differently. There's nothing wrong with having long labia.
You don't have to tell him in advance. If you don't act like there's anything wrong with it, then he has no excuse for freaking out.
If he does say anything, just tell him it's what you were born with, and that if he doesn't like it he's welcome to abstain. He should feel lucky just to be seeing it!

Q: Shes been doing it for about a year and really seems to enjoy it.
but now it seem to be getting to her head. When I told her to do something yesterday she got mad and said that she knows karate and that I should watch out.
Do you think I should take her out of the class?
Btw she's 13. I'm her dad.

I was 12 when I started karate, and 16 when I got my black belt. As a young girl, karate was fantastic for my sense of well-being and my self-esteem. It seems to be doing the same for your daughter. As such, it's not really a good idea to take her out of it. She would resent you taking away that good thing in her life, and that won't change the root cause of the problem: lack of respect for you.
Your daughter should be being taught by her sensei that karate is never to be used to threaten or intimidate. It was a lesson that was drummed into me from day one of class. She should also be taught by you that threats are inappropriate and disrespectful and not to be tolerated.
Next time she pulls that crap, punish her in whatever way you would punish any other disrespect or disobedience. Don't be afraid of her, because for all her martial arts knowledge she is still a little girl. Yes, she knows karate, but unless she's a 6th degree black belt and 200 lbs, she probably can't do any real damage to you. If she takes a swing at you, just catch her fists and you'll be set. Whatever you do, do not challenge her to a fight. That implies that you need to compete with her for dominance, which you don't. Why? Because you're her parent, and you automatically get the high spot on the authority chain. Also, if you don't follow through, she has free rein to think that you are scared of her. Not good.
I would also recommend that you speak with her sensei. You don't have to say that you're afraid of her: just mention that she seems to be having some trouble wrapping her head around the concept that karate is not an offensive weapon, and that you would appreciate him having a word with her about that as someone she respects. No embarrassment required.

No problem :) This question reminded me of a funny story about my dad when I was your daughter's age.
He kept asking me to punch him in the arm to show him what my lessons were doing for me. I kept refusing, but eventually gave in and whaled him a good one. He ended up with a huge black bruise about 4 inches across... and bragged about it to all of his friends and coworkers!

Q: so i have this issue with tampons. i have been using them for quite a few years now, and i know im putting them in right. but, after about three days, i get this huge pain, it feels like there are shards of glass in the tampon when im taking it out or in. and when i put one in, im in a lot of pain, and the pain wont disappear for hours sometimes! i have tried different brands, use the lightest possible, and use unscented, yet the problem continues.i only try to leave a tampon in between 4-6 hours. i have gone to a gynecologist, and she didnt know what the problem was-she went to google to see if she could find a solution and didnt find one....wtf. anyways, sex isnt a problem either, only for the first moments, but thats normal i assume. so whats going on? am i allergic? can i not wear tampons? am i stuck with pads?

It might be that tampons just aren't right for you. Your cycle may get so light after a few days that you just can't use them.
However, there is an alternative that isn't widely known, so you're not stuck using pads for all eternity.
Check into the Diva Cup. It's a reusable silicone cup that you pop inside of you. It's more comfortable than a tampon, and there's no risk of TSS. You take it out and rinse it every 12 hours, but otherwise you can just leave it, even if your cycle is really light. You boil it afterwards, and it's good for the next time. You can use it for a full year, and it only costs about 40 dollars.

Q: whats the best and fastest way to loose weight
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
The fastest way to lose weight? 3 easy steps:
1) Drink some whiskey. Lots of whiskey.
2) Fire up the chainsaw.
3) You can guess the rest.
Between 3 limbs and blood loss, you should be good for at least 50 lbs.
Now, seriously? The best way to lose weight isn't through fad diets: take it from someone who's tried them all. You might lose a bunch of weight fast, but it won't stay off, and you might even get some extra back in the bargain. If you're looking to lose weight and keep it off, you need to make some lifestyle changes. I would suggest signing up for My Fitness Pal. It's free, and gives you lots of tools to get you where you want to be. It's what I'm using right now. It's all about good eating habits and exercise: no magic formulas!

Q: 20F Ryan- 19
So I seen this cute guy that's on my friends hockey team. We've been texting and he seems like the sweetest guy ever. I don't think he knows how tall I am but I'm a taller girl -I'm almost 5'6 and he's about 5'7. We haven't met in person yet, I'll be going there to watch them play again in about a month. But we're almost the same height. I don't know why it bothers me so much but I can't wear like anything with any sort of heel or I'll be taller than him and it's just awkward, don't you think?? I hope he's not weirded out either that i'm almost taller than him. Ehhhh, what should I do? Has anyone else gone through this issue. Do you think it really matters?

I'm 5'8". I have dated guys who were 5'2" and 5'5". My fiance is 6'3" though :P
It's not an issue unless he's an insecure, shallow dick. If you click personality wise, he won't mind if you're close to his height.

Q: I have a resume and every place I apply at I give their application along with this resume.
I'm 18 years old, I have applied atleast 30 places and each of those places, numerous times. I keep a list of places and when I applied. I've had around 4 interviews.
I've never had a job before but right before my 17th birthday I started applying to jobs. which would be March 2008.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong? Most of my friends got jobs and some even have gotten 2 or 3 since I've been applying. I can't even get ONE job!!

I've heard it said before that you need to hand out 100 resumes to get 10 interviews to get 1 job. Probably not solid fact, but you get the idea.
To get more interviews, there are a few things you can make sure you're doing. When you go to drop off the application, act super-nice and dress a little nicer than usual. Don't ask to see the manager: say something like "I'd like to drop off an application; who should I speak with?" I used to work retail, and it bothered us to no end when people would treat us like mere underlings, when the manager was rarely there and we had the first decision on who got past the application process anyhow. Very often, the employees will have a lot of say in who gets hired, because they have to work with the person. We used to rate people with a yes or no, and the people who got no didn't even get their resume looked at. So make sure you're nice to the employees!
If you've never had a job before, that'll make it more difficult. It's a Catch-22: people want someone who has experience, but nobody seems to be willing to hire someone with no experience so they can get some. It's hard to break in, but once you're in it's easy to maneuver.
Your school guidance counselor may be able to give you some resume feedback. Otherwise, try talking to your parents to see what they think of it. There are also career centers in many communities that will work with you to tweak your resume and make it look stunning.

Q: I am 17 years old, and I have recently been dealing with thoughts that, though I am biologically a female, I wish to be a male. I *love* guys clothing. (It's all I wear.) I walk and talk like a guy, and when people refer to me as "he," I feel amazing! It sounds so right to me. I'd previously identified as a butch lesbian, but I can't help thinking it might be more. I want to grow a beard. I want a guy's body and everything that comes along with it. My whole life I've been different, but I can't be quite sure I've *always* felt this way. Does that make a difference? I've felt like this for a while still. I know it's not a phase. Is it possible I'm transgender? Or just... Seriously devoted to being a crossdressing butch?

If it helps you to label yourself, then you would probably be considered a trans-man.
However, I have a friend who was born a woman, wears mens' clothing, is getting testosterone shots and goes by male pronouns but is "fluid on many things" as he puts it. It means that he doesn't exactly view himself as just "trans".
All in all, it doesn't matter what label you put on yourself. The only one that really matters is "you".

My first kiss was when I was 15, about 8 (!) years ago. My boyfriend, who had been my friend for ages, kissed me in his car after a date. It was downright awful. I went for closed mouth, he went for open and it was a huge mess of teeth and saliva. We ended up laughing hysterically and making a promise to try again next time.

Q: 12/girl
I wanna earn some money so I could buy supplies 4 a guinea pig. So does anyone have ideas for a small neighborhood job that I could start w/ my mom? Maybe we could do something that has to do with cleaning houses, pet/baby sitting?
Anyone that has an idea & doesn't answer is being very lazy. I appreciate any answers that come.
Thank you.

Guinea pigs are fairly inexpensive to purchase, set up for and maintain. You can get a fairly decent set-up for about 100 bucks, and the piggie itself is only about 10. They don't need a lot of fancy hoo-hah or open space, because they're pretty slow critters. A small cage and lots of hay and cuddles will do them fine.
With that in mind, there are plenty of things you can do. I'm not sure what kind of area you live in, but we've got leaves all over the place. You can advertise your services raking leaves, or later on shoveling snow. You can even hire yourself out to shovel dog poop.
Other jobs could include babysitting, as you've mentioned, paper or flyer delivery or dog walking.
Also, just a note. Anyone who asks a question on here and insults the people who don't answer it is being very rude, and is highly unlikely to get many responses. You can't insult people into giving you advice. I chose to disregard that little end-note: not everyone will.

Q: I am 17/f and I just got a new job as a sales associate. I really need the money and it's the only job I can get right now, but I pretty much hate it. I feel useless half of the time when I am there and then the rest of the time I feel overwhelmed with rude customers and coworkers. The majority of the time I am re-folding clothes (SO STUPID) or doing the register (SO NERVE WRACKING). The rest of the time annoying customers are asking me questions that I don't know the answer to because I am new, so I always have to ask my manager and it makes me feel dumb. I have to work eight hours on Saturday and Sunday and I just need some advice on how to make the day go by faster. I just dread going there and I want to have a little something to look forward to! Thank you.

Honestly? The best way to get through this is to force yourself to have a better attitude.
Sure, folding clothes seems stupid. But there's a reason you need to do it, right? So that the store looks good. If you went into a store and it was a huge mess, you wouldn't shop there, right? So really, it's not that stupid, just boring and mindless. It does give you time to zone out and get lost in your thoughts, though.
Make an effort to make friends with your co-workers. You're not going to make friends by being negative. Be cheery and positive, and you'll find that they're not so terrible.
The register will get easier with time. You just need a little experience. Know that you don't look dumb when you have to ask your manager: everyone who has ever had a job has had to be trained for it. If someone gets huffy, just explain nicely that you're in training and thank them for their patience. The customers aren't asking questions to annoy you. It's kind of your job to be there to answer them. Don't you ever ask questions of employees when you're shopping?
As for other ways to help the day go faster, I would suggest shoe inserts. I always got really sore feet working retail back in high school. I also made games out of EVERYTHING that I did (time trials and the like). Taking pride in your work, even if it's meaningless and tedious is important too. If you do a really good job helping someone, be happy about that. You might have made their day. If you made a shelf look nice, that's an accomplishment too.
Having a positive attitude will fix a lot of problems in your life. This is just one of them.

Q: i currently live 3 hrs away from home where my boyfriend lives, attending college while he finishes his 2 years up at the community one at home.
next year hes thinking about transfering to a college where he can play football which is 1 hr away from our home, but 3 and a half hrs away from where im going to college now. Weve been together for 9months.. and our relationship is really good.
im scared to make the wrong decision giving up my life here and moving to where hes going but i dont wnana do long distance any longer like i would do it if we had to but i want our realtionship to grow.. i made a lot of friends here, and im sure i would make some at another college cause im a very outgoing person, but i never wanna base my decision around a guy, yet im the type of person who is a very good girlfriend and i dont really go out so my life here is kind of boring, and he doesnt drink or go out at all.
Just need some advice, idk.

I would say to wait it out for at least another year.
9 months is still pretty early in a relationship, especially when most of it has been long distance. Now, I'm not going to tell you that it's impossible to be sure about someone at this point in time, because I was engaged at 10 months (still am, 3 years later... LOL)
However, it's a huge decision to make. You want to be absolutely certain that things are going to work out between you two before you go upturning your entire life.
That doesn't mean you can't start looking into it. Check into programs at the other school. See what credits would transfer. Check to make sure that it makes sense academically for you to switch.

Neither do we!
We don't know you, and we don't know the guy. We have no idea how he acts around you, or vice versa.
There's no one size fits all guide to telling if a guy likes you or not. If you're interested, the best way to find out is to ask him out!

There was a whole list of things suggested to start doing in my local area. I was wondering how I can get started doing those things, exactly? Like, one suggestion was to work in a battered women's and children's shelter but I have no idea how I would get on to do that. I know I can't just walk into a homeless shelter and say I'm volunteering for the day, right? How do I start volunteering?

You can call the shelter and ask if they're looking for volunteers.
Know that if you're going to volunteer somewhere working with children or abused women, they will require a police background check which you will have to pay for yourself (about $30).
Otherwise, you may want to contact your local United Way office. Some others you may want to contact are local literacy programs or Big Brothers/Sisters.
All volunteer programs will require you to fill out an application, just like a regular job. Many will require a police check.

Q: ... been trying to get over my alcolhism and depression for months now. resigned from a 6-figure salary (on my own accord) because I couldnt deal with the daily pressures of work, family and my addiction. Am now at a point where I feel it best to end my life. I have a huge insurance policy that will pay off big! I have a wife, children and a extended family that love me. However... I feel so dispondent every day that I can't move forward. I want to pull out of this rut... but there are easier - quicker solutions that I've considered.

Ending your life is not a viable option.
You have a family. By ending your life, you would be damaging them all permanently. Money isn't the only thing that matters. Also, most insurance policies have suicide clauses in them saying that if you commit suicide, they won't pay off.
There are ways of getting over depression and alcoholism.
First, you'll need to address your drinking. You need to find a psychiatrist who can work with you to cut down your drinking to a level where your depression can be addressed. Don't try to stop drinking on your own, because there may be negative psychological effects from the withdrawal and you'll need to be carefully supervised. This has to be done first because alcohol can make your depression worse, and will make it hard for your doctor to assess and treat you properly. In addition, alcohol will interact with any prescription drugs that you take.
You need to pull out of this rut so that you can see your family grow. They need you to be the best person you can be. Tell your wife what you're doing to make things better and let her know that you'll need a little extra understanding while you're going through all of this. Tell your kids that you're going through a rough time, but that you're going to try to be there for them. Being a dad doesn't mean being infallible. In fact, I respect my father a whole lot for telling me about his depression when I was a young child.
You have so much to live for. Make the most of it!

Q: Two nights ago I went out wearing new high heels. Halfway through the night they started rubbing on the side of the ball of my foot so I put a piece of tissue in my shoe to stop it hurting so much and tried to ignore it. In the morning, the blister had turned into a horrible sticky open wound and the area around it was all swollen. I thought it would sort itself out so I put a band aid on it and left it but today it's still the same. Everytime the band aid comes off, the wound is still open and full of pus and my foot is still swollen so I can't really walk comfortably.
What should I do?

I would suggest that you run (hobble?) out and pick up some of BandAid's blister cushion bandages. They're really squishy, and they take all the pressure off of the wound. It also helps to clean out the wound, and it's far more waterproof than a regular bandage.

My Personal Forum
My name is Amanda and I'm 26 years old. I'm currently studying electrical engineering. Armed with a fairly odd sense of humour and a sunny outlook on life, I'll take on just about anything. I'm also cussedly stubborn, which has its ups and downs. Things get tough sometimes, and I've never been one to run from it.
In my last 8 years with Advicenators, I've gone from honours student to failing out of university (and getting back on top again!), from single to married, from tenant to homeowner.
Until lately, I have been struggling with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and OCD, which had basically ruined my life and taken just about everything from me. I'm thankful every day for every experience I've had because of this ordeal, because it's helped to make me who I am today. Things like that really make you appreciate what you do have. Now that I'm back in work and school and starting to become myself again, I couldn't be happier. I credit Advicenators with saving my life back when I was a teenager, which is a big part of why I'm still here.
I won't necessarily give you the answers you want to hear, but I'll always be honest and do my best to help.
