so i have this issue with tampons. i have been using them for quite a few years now, and i know im putting them in right. but, after about three days, i get this huge pain, it feels like there are shards of glass in the tampon when im taking it out or in. and when i put one in, im in a lot of pain, and the pain wont disappear for hours sometimes! i have tried different brands, use the lightest possible, and use unscented, yet the problem continues.i only try to leave a tampon in between 4-6 hours. i have gone to a gynecologist, and she didnt know what the problem was-she went to google to see if she could find a solution and didnt find one....wtf. anyways, sex isnt a problem either, only for the first moments, but thats normal i assume. so whats going on? am i allergic? can i not wear tampons? am i stuck with pads?
However, there is an alternative that isn't widely known, so you're not stuck using pads for all eternity.
Check into the Diva Cup. It's a reusable silicone cup that you pop inside of you. It's more comfortable than a tampon, and there's no risk of TSS. You take it out and rinse it every 12 hours, but otherwise you can just leave it, even if your cycle is really light. You boil it afterwards, and it's good for the next time. You can use it for a full year, and it only costs about 40 dollars. [ NinjaNeer's advice column | Ask NinjaNeer A Question ]
Dom answered Wednesday December 1 2010, 1:33 am: It is quite possible you may be allergic to the material, or you may not be able to use the tampons. If you have tried different brands and yet still cant deal with the problem, you may have to stick with pads. I'd go for different opinions on more doctors/gynocologists.
