Any ideas for small neighborhood jobs?

Question Posted Sunday November 21 2010, 1:47 pm

12/girl

I wanna earn some money so I could buy supplies 4 a guinea pig. So does anyone have ideas for a small neighborhood job that I could start w/ my mom? Maybe we could do something that has to do with cleaning houses, pet/baby sitting?

Anyone that has an idea & doesn't answer is being very lazy. I appreciate any answers that come.

Thank you.

Well you're a girl so that pretty much elminates jobs that include toiling such as mowing the lawn. But here are some other ideas I just came up with off the top of my head.

Gardening/watering fowers
Trimming hedges
Trimming grass along perimeters of fences lines/flowers
Pulling weeds

If you live in a colder state that has snow, well..

Shoveling driveways/ making pathways. But that could be tough as well. If you were smart and had a big backyard and a lot of neighhood boys, you'd flood your backyard and charge a small fee for each kid to skate around/play hockey.

Heey,

I am kind of having the same problem as you and what my mother told me to do for if i want a job at a young age is to just do Odd Jobs, so you could rake leaves in the fall, shovel driveways, or help anyone, really. Babysitting or pet sitting is a really good idea, for making money, so try that! Oh and ask people you know if they need any odd jobs done that they cant do. ( Not strangers!)
Hope my anwser heped a bit ! (:

If your end note is your typical demeanor you are going to find it hard to find odd jobs around your neighborhood. No one likes a smart ass or some one that is just plain rude as you have been with your end note. No matter hoe much they might need the service you offer if they find you rude and obnoxious they will wait and find someone else. Take this as a word toe the wise and think about how you approach people.

As to jobs you can do around the neighborhood. I would make up a flier listing the jobs you are willing to do and the hours you are available to do them. Such as:

Dog Walking: 5:30 - 6:30 AM & 5:30 - 7:00 PM
Leaf Racking: Weekends only
Garage Cleaning: Weekends only
Lawn Mowing: After school until 5 PM Summers by appointment

Follow this type of layout. Make sure to include your name and phone number. Then print them off on you computer printer and walk the neighborhood putting them neatly in screen doors.

Guinea pigs are fairly inexpensive to purchase, set up for and maintain. You can get a fairly decent set-up for about 100 bucks, and the piggie itself is only about 10. They don't need a lot of fancy hoo-hah or open space, because they're pretty slow critters. A small cage and lots of hay and cuddles will do them fine.

With that in mind, there are plenty of things you can do. I'm not sure what kind of area you live in, but we've got leaves all over the place. You can advertise your services raking leaves, or later on shoveling snow. You can even hire yourself out to shovel dog poop.

Other jobs could include babysitting, as you've mentioned, paper or flyer delivery or dog walking.

Also, just a note. Anyone who asks a question on here and insults the people who don't answer it is being very rude, and is highly unlikely to get many responses. You can't insult people into giving you advice. I chose to disregard that little end-note: not everyone will.
