Q: I share a room. Every time my sister's boyfriend comes over and I happen to be sleeping.. he walks in.
Is it right for me, to feel the need of privacy? Because he comes in loudly, without a warning and talks loudly.
I could be naked one time and have him walk by me!
UGH!
what can i do?
it's like 2pm and I had a rough night, I just wanted some more sleep and he woke me up.
what could i say to my mom to make him wait out?

Your mom knows about this? She should understand. I think there should be a knock rule before entering a room, especially if you are sharing it with someone else. That's not really fair to you and you do have a right to privacy. You can make a little doorhanger or sign and put it on your doorknob that lets people know that you're busy or w/e. Anyway, isn't there someplace else your sister and her boyfriend can go? Like the living room? Or maybe you can sleep in your parent's bed? I hope your situation gets sorted out!

Q: 14/f
okay so my parents started talking to me about careers and stuff but i have like no idea what i want to do. i love fashion [especially tokyo street fashion], but i don't want to be a designer, i was thinking maybe like a magazine journalist for fashion but i don't know. what are some jobs that have to do with fashion? and like do you know any websites where you can take a test that shows you what careers are good for you? and maybe one that gives you information on differnet careers?
i've tried googling it but everytime it's some stupid thing that you have to like pay for or it doesn't give me the information i'm looking for.
thank you sooo much! =]

May I also suggest photojournalism - you can take photos of fashion and write about it too. I love tokyo street fashion too! You can also have a double major in college. To take a test for careers, this is a good site: https://myroad.collegeboard.com/myroad/navigator.jsp
You can also be a stylist and dress people up on shoots! Just throwing out some ideas.

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The reason why you would hear it is worse for you is because diet coke contains artificial sweeteners. That's why the soda is still sweet, despite containing 0 calories. Scientists are working on finding a link between aspartame/fake sugar and cancer. Drinking this fake sugar in large amounts, of course, is bad, because everything should be consumed in moderation.

People can get away with things like crimes and other illegal acts if no one catches them. Maybe your peers are just good at keeping secrets or not being seen. Teens get away with drinking and drugs. It's all a matter of not telling or letting others find out.

Yeah, I think the only way is on your arm. It's the best place. Inanimate objects won't work because they don't get hickeys. And arms because you can't really reach anywhere else, and not that you'd want to. Arms are a good place to practice. I used to not know what they were and I remember being bored and sucking on my arm and getting this bruise thing.

Q: what kind of merchendice does kroger carry?
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
"Kroger Marketplace is a relatively new style of store for Kroger. The brand started in 2004 in the Columbus, Ohio, area, which lost the Big Bear and Big Bear Plus chains in Penn Traffic's Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The Kroger Marketplace format is based on the Fry's Marketplace stores that the Arizona division of Kroger is currently operating.
Similar to rival chains Meijer and Super Kmart, and modeled after Kroger-owned Fred Meyer, these stores contain multiple departments. In addition to the grocery department, they contain a Fred Meyer Jewelers, Donato's Pizza, and an in-store bank, as well as sections for toys, appliances, and home furnishings, something that Big Bear once had in their stores in the Columbus area.
In 2005, the company began renovating many Kroger Food & Drug stores in Ohio to give out an expanded and remodeled look, converting them into the Kroger Marketplace format. In February 2006, Kroger announced plans for two new Kroger Marketplace stores to open by the end of the summer in Cincinnati suburbs Lebanon and Liberty Township[3]. The store in Liberty Township opened in July 2006.[4] On October 5, 2006, a new Kroger Marketplace opened in Gahanna. With the Gahanna opening, the number of Kroger Marketplace stores is six, four in the Columbus area and two in the Cincinnati area. Two more stores are planned in 2007, one in Middletown and one in Englewood.[5]"

I saw that DVD! Yes, I have tried it and it doesn't work for me, but it may work for others. I think you would truly have to believe in it. More to it? Well, you apply it the way they say; think positive thoughts like things were already that way "I am getting that car." or "That car is mine." not "I wish I had that car." or "I'm never going to get that car!" It's positive thinking that will trigger the ripple effect in a way and waves will go out and make what you want happen, which will take time. Basically, it's the idea that if you want it bad enough, you'll repeat that thought, and think about it so much that you will finally get your wish granted.

Q: What classed does Lauren Conrad take at FIDM?
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
It is true that she is taking Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
"After High School, she moved to San Francisco and attended the Academy of Art University for one semester and majored in Fashion Design (FIDM). She then moved back to Laguna Beach and attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Irvine, California (once again majoring in fashion design). She moved to Los Angeles, California and and worked as an intern while attending the LA Campus of FIDM."

http://www.popstarsplus.com/actress_laurenconrad.htm
As for the classes she's taking, one of them is a Fundamentals of Sketching course.
Sources: http://nickverrreos.blogspot.com/2007/02/instructing-hills-part-deux.html (good link, will tell you about the course too!)

In general, I guess she takes fashion merchandising classes for Merchandise Product Development. ("The Merchandise Product Development Program prepares students for a career in merchandising established fashion brands. The curriculum focuses on planning, developing, and presenting product lines, and on the technical design of individual styles within the line. Students learn to compete successfully in trend analysis, strategic planning, line development, and preproduction planning.")

I think the person above answered the question well. It sounds like the person's indecisive like he's thinking, "For sure, maybe, maybe not, for sure?, for sure!" The person sounds not entirely sure of a decision and is going over his/her options.

Q: i'm asian,male,19
ok,the problem is not really to gain weight, although it is in a way,but more to the issue on how to look meaty.i'm quite skinny and just need to gain more meat on my arms, and body
the problem is,i eat a lot but can't seem to gain weight.my friends have looked more bulky and chubbier while i'm still skinny
anyway, first how do i gain weight by growing sideways, cause i don't want a belly, but to grow my body sideways ,if u know what i mean, like chubbier, cause when i eat a lot i just gain weight at my belly so it's like expanding in front but not the side as in my whole body frame, how do i do it?
2nd,how do i grow meat on my arms?
3rd,i workout usually,so how do i gain meat and exercise while not losing any of those meat? i mean is it even possible to exercise and not lose fat?

I think it is better for you to not have fat. The thing is to build up muscle instead. And you can weight train (lift weights) in addition to doing cardio (aerobic exercise like running or swimming) which will also help you in gaining muscle mass and make you look.. bulkier. You don't need to compare yourself to your friends because everyone's body is different. Also, eating protein helps you build muscle. I think you would rather have lots of muscle than fat!

"Everything You Want" by Vertical Horizon
Somewhere they're speaking.
It's already coming in
Ooh and it's rising at the back of your mind.
You never could get it unless you were faded,
And you're here and you don't know why
But under the skinned knees and skid marks,
Past the places where you used to learn.
You howl and listen,
Listen and wait for the echoes of angels that won't return.
He is everything you want, he is everything you need,
He is everything inside of you that you wish you could be.
He says all the right things at exactly the right times,
But he means nothing to you and you don't know why.
You're waiting for some one, to put you together.
You're waiting for someone to push you away.
There's always another wound to discover.
There's always something more you wish he'd say.
He is everything you want, he is everything you need,
He is everything inside of you that you wish you could be.
He says all the right things at exactly the right times,
But he means nothing to you and you don't know why.
But you'll just sit tight, and watch it unwind,
It's only what you're asking for.
And he'll be just fine with all of your time,
It's only what you're waiting for.
Out of the island, into the highway,
Past the places where you might have turned.
You never did notice, but you still hide away,
Anger of Angels who won't return.
He is everything you want, he is everything you need,
He is everything inside of you that you wish you could be.
He says all the right things at exactly the right times,
But he means nothing to you and you don't know why.
I am everything you want, I am everything you need,
I am everything inside of you that you wish you could be.
I say all the right things at exactly the right times,
But I mean nothing to you and I don't know why.
And I don't know... why?
Why?
You don't know...

The lyrics to Timbaland's "Way I Are" are:
[Verse 1 - Timbaland]
I ain't got no money
I ain't got no car to take you on a date
I can't even buy you flowers
But together we'll be the perfect soulmates
Talk to me girl
[Keri Hilson]
Oh, baby, it's alright now, you ain't gotta flaunt for me
If we go there, you can still touch my love, it's free
We can work without the perks just you and me
Thug it out 'til we get it right
[Keri Hilson & (Timbaland)
Baby if you strip, you can get a tip
'Cause I like you just the way you are
(I'm about to strip and I want it quick
Can you handle me the way i are?)
I don't need the cheese or the car keys
Boy I like you just the way you are
Let me see ya strip, you can get a tip
'Cause I like, I like, I like
[Verse 2 - Timbaland]
I ain't got no Visa
I ain't got no Red American Express
We can't go nowhere exotic
It don't matter 'cause I'm the one that love you best
Talk to me girl
[Bridge 2 - Keri Hilson]
Oh, baby, it's alright now, you ain't gotta flaunt for me
If we go there, you can still touch my love, it's free
We can work without the perks just you and me
Thug it out 'til we get it right
[Chorus] - Keri Hilson & (Timbaland)
Baby if you strip, you can get a tip
'Cause I like you just the way you are
(I'm about to strip and I want it quick
Can you handle me the way i are?)
I don't need the cheese or the car keys
Boy I like you just the way you are
Let me see ya strip, you can get a tip
'Cause I like you just the way you are
[Verse 3 - D.O.E.]
Baby girl, I don't got a huge ol' house I rent a room in a house
Listen baby girl, I ain't got a motorboat but I can float ya boat
So listen baby girl, once you get a dose of D.O.E. you gon' want some mo'
So listen baby girl, when I make it I want you back, want you back, yeah

Q: To start off, I have absolutely no will power or self control. I can't stick to anything. Especially when I tell myself I'm going to cut down on sweets and sodas, and the next day I'm sitting down enjoying some cookies. Then, I'll tell myself I'll walk everyday. And it's been three days, and I haven't done so. I need to learn how to get some self control. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. Someone else will surely tell you some conventional methods but you can also try these if they don't work out:
- bribe yourself somehow. treat yourself to a new purchase for every pound you lose
- instead of walking.. find something fun to do because walking/jogging/running gets boring unless you are walking where there's gorgeous scenery. and change it up. maybe hike one day and bike the next.
- get a buddy to do it with you - it helps!!! you guys can support each other
- eat so much junkfood one day you get so sick of it you dont want to touch it ever (not very practical but im putting this out there just in case. it's like working in mcdonald's so you're in a fastfood restaurant day after day and you get sick of the smell and want to stay away). also because if you think you want to stay on that diet you may deviate from the pattern. if you strictly forbid yourself you're going to eat more cookies. you can allow yourself to have a cookie a week or something because otherwise you'll probably give in and binge. or buy fatfree/sugarfree cookies at least?
- this is something you need to do for yourself. you will feel so much better when you experience exercise. dont think of it as looking good for other people because thats not enough to get you motivated and may lead you down the wrong path to anorexia/bulimia/etc. you gotta want it bad.
- walk in the mall or city mucho - you can simultaneously people watch! and always things going on there so it'd be fun too
- get your family to help. like put a lock on the fridge or something lol no, but they can help restrain you
- i saw in a movie i think that someone taped a picture of an overweight person or healthy weight person to the fridge to remind them of the journey
- chew gum constantly so your jaw hurts and you cant eat anymore
- drink so much liquids you get full from that (drink healthily though - skim milk or water maybe) so you dont get too full
- eat yummy healthy food. find out what veggies and fruit you do like. fiber is very filling. for meals - eat a big breakfast, good lunch, and little dinner. actually it is really better to eat little meals and snacks throughout the day to get your metabolism going but thats not very doable most days.
- lose weight camp? sometimes people gain the weight back but you can give it a try and other people there have the same goal so that helps
- fill your mind with a new hobby so you get so preoccupied you dont notice and obsess about food anymore. maybe something that involves group and exercise.

Food and beverages are SUPER expensive at concerts. I don't know if it'd be a good idea to carry too much money because since there's going to be a lot of people going, you may get mugged or whatnot and not even know who did it. I think a bottle of water is like overpriced like $5 for one. Hmm. Bring maybe 3-4 tenners ($10 bills). I'm not sure if you can even bring your own stuff. You can call the venue to make sure.

Q: I'm reading Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad for school [summer reading] & it just goes on and on and on and on about useless random stuff!!!! I have no idea what the plot of this book is & I get only 60% of what I'm reading. It's like I'm reading the book but the words go in through one eye and out the other. I've made a schedule to finish it by August [I'm in Heart of Darkness part III right now] & I'll probably finish it, but I would have no clue as to what I read. Can anyone give me a really brief idea on what it's about and what the point of the book is? I'm trying to refrain from Sparknotes online and all those similar sites because our school makes us sign sheets that says we're not going to get help from online sites when it comes to books and stuff.
Also, I'm suppose to read Jane Eyre. I know the basic plot but I'm getting mixed info from friends who have already read it. One says the author just goes on and on and never shuts up about description and that it's the WORST book he's read while one says that it's a really good book and that she finished it in a week. From what I see, it does seem to have an interesting storyline going on but it seems really big and thick with small font =/ Someone wanna prep me before I start it in August?
Thanks!

IN PROCESS OF EDITING ANSWER - ONE SECOND.
There's nothing wrong with Sparknotes provided you read it hand in hand along with the actual book. It helps a lot. I do it to refresh my memory in case I forget what happened in the plot.
Dude I had to read that book last year and I didn't really understand anything either. What I can tell you is that to pay attention to black and white images, Europeans vs natives, dark and light as well and the difference between Marlow and Kurtz. Kurtz basically went over the edge, he let the darkness consume his heart while Marlow saw him before he died- he (Kurtz) did not regret what he did, but only was angry that he couldn't have lived to do more because he is evil. Marlow wanted to give in to all the emptiness but when he saw Marlow's face that last time it was like he got a glimpse of what it must be like and he almost became like Kurtz but because he saw his soul he decided not to.
Okay, so the backstory of the book is how in Congo, Africa, King Leopold II of Belgium took over the area (imperialism) and is under his control because he is greedy. Lots of ivory is sold there and people used as slaves and abused constantly and no one is doing anything about it.
I thought Jane Eyre was okay. Lots of people hate it too. I don't remember much if it - it ws so long ago. I don't think it's supposed to be read as some exciting adventure novel or something but appreciated for its use in language or something. It was written a long time ago and people paid attention to that kind of stuff. lol guess what? this site: http://classiclit.about.com/od/aboutreading/a/aa_failing.htm says that: " If our younger generation finds Jane Eyre boring, it is not because they have a genetically different taste; it is a sign of the degree to which comics and grotesque fantasies have adulterated their mind's capability for free imagination." Here are some other opinions: http://www.amazon.ca/Jane-Eyre-Charlotte-Bronte/dp/0679783326 like "I had to read Jane Eyre as a required book for my highschool English class. I wasn't too excited about reading it, it seemed very long, and I only had 3 days until I had to finish it. The first day I picked up the book, I don't think I let that book go, until I was finished with it. It was that amazing. The beginnnig was very good, the way they set up the story. The introduction kept you at suspense the whole time, you kept wondering what would happen next. The climax part of the book was the best, the descriptions were so clear, that I felt that I was in the story myself. I could imagine every scene in my head. At the end, it was unpredictable...I didn't know what would happen, but when I found out, it seemed like the perfect ending. I definitly recommend everyone to read it, that has some intrest in it. You can make it the best book you've ever read." in favor of the book. Personally, I believe just the plot is important. Description gets annoying for me too. Once again, Sparknotes is not bad if used correctly.

Hello! I'm taking the SATS for the second time too in October. I have tons of books! Barrons is always hard and gives you more info than you need but if you know it well you'll do well on the tests in the end. I liked the Barrons SAT I preparation book too. There's this book I saw at Barnes and Noble that is helpful to me: http://www.amazon.com/Grubers-Complete-Preparation-New-10th/dp/0060581700
I also have Kaplan and Princeton Review but I never use those. They are different and easier. I heard this one is good: http://www.amazon.com/s/103-1206283-2814257?ie=UTF8&keywords=Maximum%20SAT&search-type=ss&index=books
And this one is interesting:
http://www.amazon.com/RocketReview-Revolution-Ultimate-Guide-New/dp/0451213114/ref=sr_1_5/103-1206283-2814257?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1185488398&sr=1-5
Are you taking classes in addition to doing the books?
There is this method I saw on this site that I thought was interesting. I don't know if it'll help, but if you keep taking the tests in the official SAT College book, you'll eventually see all the patterns and become familiar with their tricks because like with the math section, you actually need to know very little math pretty much! and there's other ways to get around not knowing how to do it- like logicwise.
