My column is dedicated to telling it like it is. I will always give you the best information available to me or the best advice I can. I will be upfront and never hide the truth from you.The one thing I will not do is you homework. I will try and point you towards the answer or help you find the answers you looking for. Ultimately you will have to find the answer yourself.
advice
I am 16 and female. Today was my first day of senior year. Today, my teacher's told me all about how I should be applying to colleges already and how I need to apply early to get on the top of the list. However, I have yet to take my SAT's. I have been reading up on a job I would like to pursue and that is an ultrasound technician. I would like to work with soon to be mother's and tell them about their children. I feel like the job would be so happy, however, I do know that some parts will be sad if there is something wrong with the child and I am willing to deal with that. I would like to know if I could go to any University for that job or if I should go online and take courses or if I should find a medical school in my area and attend there? I really have a lot of questions. Should I be stressing already that I didn't do this year? Do I need to take my SAT's before I apply anywhere or can I apply and send my scores in after they are taken?
If you want to be a Ultrasound technician a four year college degree will definitely be a plus. You will still need to attend a technical school to acquire the skills to operate the ultrasound equipment.
Ultrasound equipment requires knowledge of anatomy and physiology, computer skills and medical terminology. Biology and some other sciences may also be required. Some States may also require certification. There are a number of Vocational-Technical Schools around the country that offer training in medical fields such as Ultrasound technicians.
If you are sure this is truly what you want I suggest you do two things, as well as prepare for college until you make a final decision.
First: contact your local hospital and some of the companies that do ultrasounds and ask if they offer a jobs following program. Explain that you are a senior in high school and believe this is the career you wish to follow. Before you make a final choice you would like to see what the job is actually all about. Your guidance counselor should be able to help you with this.
Second: Start looking for Vocational-Technical Schools that offer training in Medical assistants programs. This is where you will find training in becoming an ultrasound technician. Your guidance counselor can help you with this as well.
College is an option that you should give a very serious look at before making a final decision. Also look at your local community college as they may offer a 2 year AA degree along with the training you need to operate as an ultrasound technician. This gives you the best of both worlds. You have an AA degree from which you can build to a BA or BS degree after you start your career. This would also satisfy your parents.
My son did this. He wanted to be came a paramedic, which he now is. In my state they require a 2 year course of study which includes the paramedic requirements. He know has a AA in emergency medicine. His intent is to use this degree to bridge to a nursing degree.
Can you get pregnant from giving a bj
There is only one way a female can get pregnant. That is when sperm of a male enters her vagina. Normally this is done through penis to vagina entry called sexual intercourse.
Since a bj is mouth to penis intercourse; there is no way you can get pregnant. To do so would require you to somehow move the sperm from your mouth to your vagina.
Okay so if you look in my eye you can see there is a brown thing stuck in my eye. It might be a twig or something but when it first got in my eye it stung so badly and now it really itches, will I have to get surgery to get this out of my eye?
An injury to an eye is considered "Life & Limb". Meaning it is life threatening serious. If you do not see an eye doctor, preferably an Opthamologist you could have serious permanent damage to that eye.
If I were you or you were my child I would be calling 911 immediately it is that serious. You may not think it is that serious but it is. There is immediate first aid that 911 responders can give you to prevent, hopefully, further damage from happening.
My advice: Either call 911 right NOW or have someone take you to the nearest hospital emergency room. If you are under 18 tell your parents NOW.
I want to kill my self i stayed back twice and i hates school now things never go my way
Killing oneself is not the answer to any problem. In fact it makes problems for everyone who loves you.
From what little you have written I cannot give you much help other than there is a reason why you are having trouble learning. There are many reasons that children have trouble learning most all of them can be fixed or help given so that a child can learn and can reach their potential.
I am surprised to see that you have written us because of a learning problem. That is the root cause of why you are writing. Today most school systems understand children have learning difficulties and some children require different teaching methods to understand the material being taught.
In what little you have written it is evident that you can learn. You need to ask your parents to fight for you with the school system to have the test you for different learning disabilities. They may even want to have you tested by independent testers. Your family doctor can help point them in the right direction or they can ask social services for help with this.
There is a Federal Law called "No Child Left Behind" signed by President Bush. This Law say the school system must do everything it can to help you achieve. Leaving you behind in your grade does not meet the spirit of this law.
I'm M/16. I've been having a back pain for the last few days. Its not bad, but I feel it while bending over and moving in certain ways. Its on the lower right side of my spine. I've been doing a lot of work lately, painting, moving things etc. But can it possibly be my kidneys? I don't drink that much water. But, somedays I drink A LOT of water. Probably more than 8 glasses. And when I do, I piss non stop. Its like If I want to drink enough water, I have to piss buckets.
You have asked a question that we cannot truly answer for two reasons. One, we are not doctors. Two, any medical question like yours requires a doctor to examine you. This cannot be done over the web. So even if we were doctors we could not answer your question.
We can make an educated guess based on our own experiences but this is not a good idea as we may have the same symptoms for entirely different problems. You could for example be having some type of UTI/Kidney problem or a simple muscle spasm.
It is a relatively simple exam for the doctor to find out if you have a UTI, you pee in a cup and maybe a blood test. If the doctor whats to check for a muscle spasm the doctor will simply palpate the muscles on your right side. What the doctor checks for and the type of exam and testing done will be based on what information you give the Doctor.
My advice is to see a doctor and tell him/her everything you can about the when where and why of your pain.
i got home oe day to find blood on my sheets and blood stained panties that arent mine. i asked my boyfriend if he had sex with another girl and he told me no. should i believe him or not.
Lets check the facts here. You didn't bleed on your sheets, correct. The panties aren't yours, correct. There is no one else in the house that would have used your room to have sex with someone, correct.
I would say the evidence is clear, your either fantasizing or your boyfriend is lying.
so i like this guy. he was in my school and passed out this year. i am a year junior to him so i'll pass out next year!
i have been talking to him for quite a while now.. and i really like him. he likes me too. he asked me out recently.(though we both are confused on what to do because.. the problem is he is going to another country :/ for his college! and yeah well he would come back to where i live cause his family is here, but still i mean i dont know what i should do?)
This is one of those questions you should ask of one of the younger advisors or put out for all advisor to read and answer if they wish.
My thoughts are for now a date is just a date. Go ahead and date him until he leaves for school. Don't become a couple. Next year when he comes home you will know if you want to follow him to college and become a couple or if you have both moved on to others
Here is a very brief overview of my past with my ex. I dated him in high school and his parents ended up taking him out of school to be home schooled. It broke my heart and I thought of him everyday. I ended up dating another guy and ended up marring him. We have been together for 13 years and married for 8.
Just recently, my ex and I have re-communicated and for me it was a love at first sight all over again. My husband knew how I felt about this man over the past 13 years and okayed for me to see him. My ex and I immediately clicked and we have way more in common then my husband and I. We have the same interest in music, outlook on life and are adventurous. I am also happy that he can talk to me about the good, the bad and the ugly about him. I know he hides nothing from me, because he's told me some pretty in depth stuff.
Anyways, I know him and I rushed things too quickly and ended up sleeping together soon after meeting up again with my husbands approval. I thought he was pushing me away when in fact he didn't want me to regret him for not allowing me to do so. We rushed in and old feelings came back. I have decided to stop sleeping with him and work on the friendship part to make sure I don't make a mistake by leaving my marriage to go to something that may not work. I do love my ex dearly and enjoy the bond we do have together. I feel like him and I really are the true Bella and Edward. I remember reading Twilight series before I seen my ex again and cried because I wish I had had my happily ever after with him.
I feel like my hubby is the second best and that my ex and I really have a very special connection. He does not hide anything from me and I know this to be true because he wouldn't have said some of the things that he has. I asked him if we could work on the friend part and see where it goes. My husband told me that later on down the road if my ex and I still click then he wouldn't stop me and not because he doesn't want me, because he doesn't want me to not be happy. He and my ex both said that if it turns out that my ex and I are destined for each other that it's important that my husband becomes my friend and he still be in my life because we are good friends and we also have a son together.
I just want to end the lover part with my ex and be his friend to make sure this is what is truly what we want and not just based on lust or new sparks. We know all new relationships have these moments and they die out eventually.
It also allows me to re evaluate my marriage.
I need some advice on this topic.
To start with the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. Then when you get there and look back the grass that you left suddenly looks a little greener.
I see a big gaping hole in this story you wrote, that being what has the ex been doing for the last 13 years. All you said was he has told you some pretty deep stuff. That does not tell me anything by which to advise you on.
I think your husband is being very generous here with his allowing you to find out what it is you want. I don't know too many men that would give their wives permission to sleep with another man, especially one that could cause the end of his marriage.
My suggestion is that you seek professional marriage counselling. That at first you and your husband attend and when the therapist asks the ex be brought in as well.
If it is of any help. I would tell the ex, it was nice to see you and experience some old desires. I married the man I now love, the father of my child. If we cannot just be friends then you will once again have to leave my life.
i am 15 teen years old and i need a job too save for new shoes, and i wanna work a t mcdonalds how old do i havee to be?
I generally do not disagree with Zane but in your case I will. McDonald's is going to ask you to get working papers which you get from school. In most states to get working papers you need to be 16 years of age.
Federal law also applies hear and because of the stoves and deep fryers they use; Federal Law also mandates specific age requirements. McDonald's may be able to offer jobs to clean the front of the restaurant. To work behind the counter du I am almost certain you will have to wait until you are 16; to work at McDonald's or at just about any other wage earning job.
The best way you can earn any money at your age is to do odd jobs around the neighborhood, Raking leaves, washing cars and possibly cleaning out garages.
I am 20/f. I have had one slightly late time of the month (tested not pregnant) two in one month and now over a week late again (again tested and not pregnant).
On top of that they have all been much lighter than normal and only lasted 3 days compared to my usual 5-7 days.
I am just living with my nan, having 2 to 3 meals a day and having at least half hour walks each day.
I will admit that me and the other half are sexually active and have been since May but we are relitavely careful though pregnancy would be a blessing and a curse with our living sitation at the moment.
We would both love children but not yet, we would at least need a flat first and I haven't yet started my job which isn't many hours but its a start.
I am wondering whether or not to leave the GP until next month or book an appointment sometime this week or next? (they're a nightmare to get hold of)
I would suggest a GYN rather than a GP. I would also suggest doing this sooner rather than later as doing so now will make you feel better. Waiting will only cause anxiety which in itself can cause disruption in your cycle.
I'm really struggling with my life. I don't really have anyone to go to for advice, so most of the time I just come on this website and ask for advice. But its not always the best method. I really want someone to help me.. in person. I want to stop bottling up my thoughts and feelings, and I want to be able to go to someone with help. I've had best friends and told them things and expected them to help, but they never do or some of them just backstab me or betray me. I just want someone honest, trust worthy, and loyal to listen to me and help me. That is why I'm considering getting a therapist/counselor. I've never had one before but I am just so sick of not having someone there for me and being able to talk to them about my problems. I've been depressed for a few years. Lots of things have happened to me and I tend to keep them locked up inside me. I really think its a good idea for me to see a therapist. The only thing is I have no clue where to start. Where do i find one? how much is it? What is it like to have a therapist? If you've had one, did you feel better after having one? Do therapists have websites so I can email them? or do I have to talk to them in person? How do I exactly get a therapist?
Thanks!
Lets start with your feeling of depression. If you feel depressed you need to be screened for depression. This is something your family doctor can do or you can go to your Counties Mental Health Clinic, which you can find on-line under your counties government listing.
If you are found to be suffering from depression it is not that big a deal and you are not crazy. In most cases unless you are Bipolar or have some other deep depression you will most likely be suffering from a lack of one of one or two chemicals secreted in the brain that help control moods. It is a little like diabetics who lack insulin. Medication will be dispensed to help replace the missing chemicals. You will then be referred to a therapist.
Therapy does help. I was diagnosed with depression and have seen a therapist to help me get to the root cause of the depression. During that time I was given medication to help increase the chemicals needed to keep me from getting depressed. In therapy we found the root cause of my depression and I've been taught how to deal with it. My depression was caused by an auto accident and the life changing results caused by it.
It has helped to have someone to talk to, someone that was there just for me, that I could be open and not have to hold back with. The key to therapy is finding the right therapist and then be very open with him/her. I went through three different therapists until I found the one I felt comfortable with. Don't be afraid to change therapists if you not comfortable with one. There are several different styles of therapy you just have to find the one that works for you.
My boyfriend and I have been together for a year. We like to get intimate a lot and try new things. Well he asked me to try to squirt when i orgasm. I've never done it before. i did some research and found out a few things like the G spot and that when you squirt it comes out of the urethra, not the vagina. We tried it a few times but it doesn't work! How come I wont squirt?? I also read that only a few women can successfully do this. But my boyfriend was bummed out when it didn't work for me.. I want to satisfy him and make it work! Any tips or anything I should know about it? thanks!
As your research showed you; squirting is not something every woman can do. It is nothing against you, your womanhood or his sexual prowess. Which is probably what is bumming him out the most.
I once did some research on this subject for another questioner. I don't remember the exact percentage given but it was a very low the number of women who reported that they squirted on orgasm in this one study I read.
If you and your BF are sexually compatible and he gets you to orgasm each time you make love then his sexual prows are better than most men. You should tell him so.
what should i do if my mum calls me stupid should i run away from home?
Running away from a problem won't solve the problem. In your case running away will only cause you more grief as you are most likely still a minor. As such you will be found and brought home where mom will only intensify her verbal abuse of you.
There are a number of words in our language that are hurtful and abusive; stupid is among them. A little more information as to the circumstances as to when mom uses that word with you would be helpful in us offering you some help.
I believe that the only advice any of us can offer at the moment is to talk with your mother and tell her how upsetting it is to you to hear her call you stupid. If mom works outside the home you could add; how would she like it if her boss or coworkers constantly called her stupid.
That is how you feel and it is hateful of her to call you something she would not like to be called. If you do say this make sure you say this in a conversational voice and not argumentative as it makes all the difference in the world in how you say this.
If this doesn't help things at home, then talk to a trusted teacher at school of the school principal. Child abuse is not limited to physical abuse. Verbal abuse is just as abusive and there are procedures the school system can follow to help you.
Do it make your sex partner feel better if u moan alot
Prostitutes and porn stars fake moaning during sex because that is what they believe the customer wants. I don't think you are either of the two.
When you fake something it is like telling a lie. When you tell a lie you better write it down or you will forget what you said. It is somewhat the same with sex. If you are really turned on and feel the need to moan you will do so without faking it.
Not all women or men for that matter moan during sex. This does not mean they are not enjoying themselves or they are not being turned on enough. Everyone is different in how they feel things.
My advice is if you have the urge to moan or shout, then do so. If not don't.
Hey, 23/f here. The guy in question is my age.
I hate myself for even letting this be an issue, but it is. My ex, who I had to leave about a year ago because he physically abused me, was a better kisser. Like, he kissed me the way I always dreamed my "prince charming" would, and it was heaven, and I hate him for it. I used to feel like I could do nothing but kiss him forever and I'd be happy. For some reason, kissing has always been a huge, huge thing for me, and I can't get past it.
This new guy (who I've been seeing for a month or so (but we have a history; he's an old friend from high school)) is incredible - he's sweet, he's funny, he's understanding, he's not jealous, he's gentle, he's intelligent...he's just not as good a kisser.
I've never been in a position where I had to improve a guy's technique, so to speak...and if I ever was, it used to be a dealbreaker for me. I kind of feel like I'm never going to have the feelings that I had with my ex again as far as the kissing goes, but I feel like this guy could at least be a little better...Maybe it's selfish of me, but I want to enjoy kissing this guy more. I can't even quite put my finger on what it is that bothers me...Lips aren't too stiff, he doesn't use too much tongue...nothing like that.
Part of it is probably that he has some facial hair, which pokes me a little...but he does winter sports and that helps keep his face warm, lol, so I don't want to ask him to get rid of it...besides, it's cute on him.
How do I improve his kissing technique without directly teaching him? Without insulting him, or anything?
Any tips, I imagine, could be helpful. Thanks! :)
I think there are two things at play here. First the physical abuse from your ex still weighs in on your physical life with you new boyfriend. I know what your thinking, you feel your over him and moved on. PTSD takes on many forms and your dissatisfaction with your boyfriends kissing may be how the PTSD is exhibiting itself in you.
There are two ways to get some help which I really think is the best thing you can do for yourself to get past the PTSD. First is to call 1-800-656-HOPE. This will connect you to the 24/7 Hotline for an Organization called RAINN. This stands for Rape, Abuse, Incest, National Network. Their volunteers will help you find professionals in your home town trained to help you with the Abuse you suffered.
Second: One of the best things about sex is the intimacy and learning about the other persons body, likes and dislikes. Kissing is not just a prelude to sex it is an essential part of sex. As such just like the act of sex itself we must teach our partners how we liked to be kissed, touched and made love too.
You don't go up to your partner and tell him he is a rotten kisser. That would deflate his ego along with another part of his anatomy. What you do is tell him that his facial hair is ruining a very intimate part of your intimacy and ask him to see if you two can find another way to kiss that will keep his beard from scratching you. Then you can teach him how to kiss you the way you like without deflating his ego or anything else. You might try giggling a bit when you kiss to make your point.
So lately I've been having a lot of body pain in different places pretty much daily. Yesterday and today right below my left breast has been having a slight sharp pain. It's not too painful but it worries me. It doesn't hurt constantly but every once in a while through out the day it has been. Also in the pervious week my butt and lower back have been very sore although that went away when my heart started hurting. It's like something new hurts every couple days and I don't know the reasoning as to why..
I started my period in sixth grade, and I haven't been working out just doing things pretty much the same.
None of us are doctors so we can't make diagnoses. Even if we could we would need to examine you and that cannot be done over the WEB. Even if someone here has the same symptoms your having doesn't mean your having the same problem. Everyone experiences problems differently.
It may just be you are suffering growing pains or it could be something that requires treatment by a doctor. The only way to find this out is to see a doctor.
If you are over 14 by law you can ask to see your doctor in confidence, meaning mom has to wait in the waiting room. If the pain is caused by your being sexually active, the doctor by law has to keep this between the two of you. To release any medical information the doctor must have your written permission as to whom your medical information can be released to and you can revoke that permission at any time.
So if you fear going to the doctor because mom or dad may find out your not a virgin any longer. You no longer have to worry about this if you are 14 or older. So go see a doctor.
What does it mean for my boyfriend to say I am too emotionally immature for sex? I don't act immature at all. I'm more mature than he is around people. Why'd he say that
Not knowing you makes that a really hard question to answer. It just may be that he is not ready to have sex or to have sex with you. Since you left out your ages this is a question that is also hard to answer.
The best advice anyone can give you without more information; is to ask him what he meant by this?
Let me start off by saying that I have been with this guy for just over 3 years.
I really do love him.
I trust him more than I ever have many close people in my life. He is definately one of my best friends. I hate the thought of ending our relationship, but the thought has crept into my mind over this summer.
The problem is, he is pushing our physical relationship more and more. I think he feels left behind because his friends that have been in relationships about the length of ours have all had sex. I was raised in a Christian home..and I've always wanted to wait till marriage. It didn't ever cross my mind to not think that till this past winter. All the sudden I understood his urges..And Its AWFUL to control. Over the summer we went to far. There was touching...and he did some oral stuff with his mouth...and i did the same for him. I actually hated it..I cried for a long time after that.. I tried to explain I wasn't ready..and for most of July I was hateing myself for what I let happen. I couldn't decide..and last weekend I gave in again...and I feel worse than ever because..Even though I want to believe He is the ONE...I'm only 18. I know I dont want to get married this early in my life..but I still have the problems that come with being a teen.
My question is really...what do I do now? I would break my own heart to loose him..but I don't know how to make it clear (for both of us) that we went to far. We tried talking..and he doesn't understand my reasoning for believing we went too far. I dont like the feelings I've got right now...but I want to work this out. I have a really great relationship.. depending on me to make this right. I really do love him...I just need some help..HELP?
I don't know if this will help though I will offer it anyway: When you boil everything down all we ever have is our principals. If you forsake your principals you have nothing.
You have taught yourself that one of your overriding principals is to be true to yourself. That you wish to save your virginity until you wedding night. This is your principal it is neither right or wrong. What makes it right is that you have made this decision for yourself and you should not allow anyone to force you to give-in on something this important to you.
Now the thought that the primary reason he wants to have sex with you is the fact that all of your friends have done so is not a reason to give in. I would say to him: "If all our friends jumped of the highest bridge in town does that mean we have to as well." His answer will be it is not the same thing; but it is. Just because someone else is doing something is no reason you have too as well.
Now as to why you feel as you do after oral sex with him. There are two reasons for this. First: You went against your primary principal and you feel guilty for doing so.
Second: You allowed your boy friend to coerce you into doing so. You may have done so in a voluntary manner but the coercion makes you feel like you were raped. In a very technical sense you were . You said no and no means no. He should have stopped right there, instead he continued to beg, cajole and whatever else until you gave in. That is a definition of rape.
If you were my daughter my advice to would be if he cannot respect you enough to respect your principals then he does not deserve you. Yes, daddy's always have a soft spot for their daughters. But right is right and wrong is wrong. What is wrong here is your boyfriend is not respecting you and I think deep down you know this.
My advice is to tell him you wish to be respected for the person you are and the principals that guide your life. IF he can't respect you then he should go find a girl with little respect for herself that will satisfy his carnal desires.
Every since i have had sex with this boy i want to have sex everyday and when i see him and his beautiful eyes i want it even more i dream about him all the time i think i adicted why is this happening.?
Are you addicted to sex? I doubt it? Was this your first time having sex or just your first time having sex with this boy? Doesn't matter all that much the advice is the same.
I think you may have feelings for this boy and enjoyed the intimacy sex allows two people to have. If this was your first sexual experience then the same thought is true only add in that you had a wonderful experience and want to experience it again. Just remember their is only one first time so the next time will be slightly different for you.
My only thought is I hope you are both old enough to be having intercourse and that you are taking proper precautions.
Hey in 16 yr old female about to turn 17 in a few months.. I'm with this guy who I love with all my heart and he just turned 22 about a month ago we are basically 5 years apart I don't find it weird at all and neither does he.. he does not pressure me to do anything sexually that is not y he is with me.. do u think I'm to young bc some ppl say I am
The short answer to your question is: In the eyes of the LAW you are to young for him and just being with him can cause him a great many legal problems if your parents or anyone else disapprove and reports him. The charge would be Statutory Rape. This does not mean you and he had any type of sex it just means he is to old for you and sex could happen between you, that you are not legally able to consent too. If you two happen to cross a state line together then he can also be charged with a Federal Crime of violating the Mann Act.
The six year difference between you is very strange. Does this man know your true age? I understand you love him and if you truly do love him you will make sure he knows your 16 not 17 which makes no difference because there is still a 5 year difference in age and he is still subject to violation of the laws I stated above.
If he is aware of your true age then I worry if he is a sexual predator. Sorry but I'm a parent myself and as a parent I have to think of these things. Someone his age should not be dating a teenager of your young age. There is something wrong with that picture. If you were 20 and he 26 I would not have a problem with this but your present age difference has many red flags waving in my mind.
I am left wondering if your parents know about this age difference? If they are not aware you are dating him, then you should make them aware. If they do not have a problem with you dating someone 6 years older than you; then you have my blessing as well. I believe though your parents would not approve of you seeing this man and threaten to turn him into the police if you continue to see him. I know I would.
It is only wrong to date someone this much older than you while you are still in your teenage years. If when you are older you find you still prefer dating older more mature men no one will have a problem with that. For right now though it is our responsibility as parents and society to keep you safe from people that may have ulterior motives on their minds.
