Hey, is there any way to get rid of a cold/sore throat quickly? like by the weekend? If there are any remedies or things anyone can think of to help me that'd b greatly appreciated! thanks so much (link)
|
Rest. Lost of rest. A cold is caused by a virus, so the best bet is to get lots of rest, eat well, and drink lots of water - avoid pop, fruit juices are ok.

How long can you keep stuff in jars before it goes completely disgustingly past the point of edibility!
How CAN (heh PUN!) you tell?!
I... am bored. (link)
|
This would depend on the method of canning, the materials used for canning, the use of any preservatives in the food product, the composition of the stuff in the jar, the heat, humidity, and lighting conditions at which it is being stored, and the amount of antimicrobial cleaning used prior to the canning or jarring process.

Ok my situation might be retarded but see me and my bf have been going out for 11 months and he wants to "do the dirty" but he doesnt want to use a condom he says it takes the fun out of it for him but i dont want to get pregnet would birth control pills be just as good protection as a condom? (link)
|
If his excuse is that it isn't as much fun for him, then clearly, he's thinking with a clear head... *coughs*
Don't let him drive you to choices you don't like.
No form of birth control, other than abstention, is 100% effective. But if you are hesitant to get on the pill for whatever reason, don't let him force you down that path. The choice is not his alone, if his at all in many cases.

Marriage is supposed to be a commitment. You also have a child, something to consider, because anything you do to screw up your relationship with your husband WILL have impact on your child's life, and by impact I obviously mean in an adverse manner. It is no longer just about you and your desires - you have others you have to keep in mind at all times. Think of the love you have for your child and your husband - is it worth putting all that at risk?
I mean, flirting with a co-worker is one thing... wanting to take this into reality is something else.
And add to this the impact this could have on your career, and how people view your professionalism. This could not only ruin your family, but destroy your job.
Think about it. It shouldn't be that difficult a decision.
|
my plant, gromie, just winked at me. it kidna scares me. i am really upset with his behaviors! what should i say to my naughty naughty venus fly trap? should i tell him to be a good boy, or just ignore the cute little guy? (link)
|
threaten it with pruning shears... or threaten to transplant him in with a bunch of marigolds.
|
so what do you do if whenever you get in fights with your mom your step dad gets involved too adn every time he gets involved i tell him hes not my dad so stop talking to me and hten he says yeah im glad im not bc if i was your dad id beat your damn ass ... idk what to do or to say to him and its really pissing me off! please help! (link)
|
Well, think of it this way - he sees you fighting with his wife. He is stuck with the oh-so-wonderful job of trying to do what he can to be a dad for you at times. You think that makes him feel all warm and fuzzy inside?
He's just trying to help. Sadly, you snapping at him doesn't help, either. Ideally, you should realize that fighting with your mom isn't a good idea in the first place, and maybe, just maybe your step-dad might have a decent compromise or idea to sort thing out, or at least get you and your mom to chill out for a bit.
aka, give the man a chance.
EDIT: Then learn to ignore him. This doesn't change the fact that he's married to your mom, and that he IS going to attempt to step in when you and your mom argue. You're going to have to find a way to live with him or totally shut him out.

Do you all think that you are responsible for what you dream about? Like, lets say for example, you don't cuss or something...Well, are you responsible for that kind of stuff? (link)
|
Dreams have no real meaning, if that's what you're looking for. They are our brain's way of burning off excess energy, and it does so by nearly randomly processing thoughts derived from our memories and experiences. Some people are able to control their dreams to some extent, but not all people can do this. Most people do not remember most of their dreams, either.

sO a friend of mine told me that if u take aderol... that it will make u not hungry aka you'll loose weight... does that work? and is it safe? thanks! (link)
|
Not only is that not safe, it is incredibly stupid. Adderall is a potentially adictive drug that contains a cocktail of amphetamines. It can seriously fuck you up and even kill you.

What Are Sex Bracelets? lol
-->Thanks I RATE :-) (link)
|
"sex bracelets" are not real - they are harmless bracelets that became popular, but some fanatical loons decided to make up some crap about them being tied to signs of sexual activity and have publicly scorned them, even though they made up the whole stupid thing about sex...
so the simple answer is: there really isn't any "sex bracelet", just a stupid rumor invented by so-called adults who behave like children to force their will on other people.

oK: so i figured i'd ask you this... since ur a 31 year old guy... i'm 16/f and i know this is gonna seem super weird... but i think i kinda have feelings for my neigbor who is 32... hes married though and i might just be thinking this... cuz hes super nice 2 me... but i think he wants me 2... cuz the stuff he says and the way he looks at me. i think about him sexually alot 2! i know that that is illegal/weird... but you can't really help who u like. so my question for you is: do you think this is weird? would you ever do anything like this? what should i dO? should i stay away from him or see if he feels the same. i dont want 2 ruin his marriage... but i really want this guy! please don't judge me or ne thing... i Just wanna kno!
thaNx so muCh!!! (link)
|
First off, he's a guy... and I can say from experience that all guys flirt (ok, not all of us, but most of us anyway...)
The way his mind works and the ways yours works are light-years apart at this stage. He lives on his own, in the "real world". You still live in a sheltered environment. You're litterally half his age.
All that said, temptation has lead to situations like this. And often people make poor decisions. For one, he's married, he knows what sex is all about and expects it. Such things would be illegal with you. Even if you consented, you are not a legal adult, so while statutory rape would not be a possible charge against him, "corruption of a minor" would be. And relationships like that would never last in secret - someone will find out.
And you've already said that he's married... would you want to be responsible for potentially not only sending this guy to prison, but ending a relatinship he has with someone to whom he is supposed to be committed to for all times?
Odd are, you'll find out that you have absolutely nothing in common, because odd are that you have very little in common with this guy... or you'll get over him just as fast as this crush has overtaken you and your eyes will be set upon someone else.

Okay I asked the question about being 13/f and my breasts hurting size 38c. Well today i was noticing that my right breast kinda feels like it has lumps in it. I think I might have breast cancer. But I am confused. If I do I don't know how to ask my mom to take me to the doctor to find out or even tell her that I think I do. (link)
|
First off, do not ask us to NOT delete things... we're not stupid.
Secondly - just tell your mom that you think you need to see a doctor. If she asks why, just flat out tell her that you are concerned about your breasts. You need to be able to talk to your mom about these things... for all you know, perhaps she has had similar issues in the past, or knows that breast cancer runs in the family, or knows of other breast issues the women of your family have. Getting the low-down on your family medical history if very VERY important. Please, just talk to your mom. Yes, it may be a bit awkward, but your better off just flat out asking her.
Thanks for the highly insightful "MY MOM WAS ADOPTED" comment... you see, how the hell would I know that? Either way, you still don't know what your mom has been through... AND BREAST CANCER IN YOUR DAD'S FAMILY WOULD STILL BE A FACTOR! Remeber, half of your genes came from your dad.

Okay here's the deal: this girl, who i like to refer to as my best friend. We do a lot together, she slept over about 10 times during the summer. We have soo many pictures together. We talk about everything. I'm 14/f, and i've known her since i was 11. In the past years we've come really close, or so i seem to think. When we're togheter, we have a total blast.. but sometimes when we were with other people, she shys away from me and doesnt pay any attention to me. And i know she used to be really really good friends with 3 of my other friends, they had this little group, u know? And she always talks about how shes been replaced by one of my friends in that group, and talks about how they always leave her out and stuff.. then when were with them she gets all up and tight with them. It really bugs me. Is she like, ashamed of me? I mean i have plenty of other friends, but i really feel strongly about her. She's pretty much the only person i tell everything to. And yea, she tells me a lot too, cause she knows she can trust me with everything. I just don't understand why she can't say i'm her best friend. How would i go about talking to her about this? I really want to but i dont want her to get angry with me.. please help. I know it's long :S sorryyyyy. oh i rate! (link)
|
Why does it matter? Does being "best" really make a differnce in friendship like that? By calling people "best friend" it becomes a contest, and maybe she doesn't want to compete. And it seems that you strive to have her give you the title "best friend" is if it were an award. This should not matter.
Now, if she's feeling left out or uncomfortable when you are with your other friends, ask yourself why that is. Try to see what she is seeing. Maybe she really doesn't like the others? Maybe she's selfish, maybe she doesn't want to share you? It is hard for me to guess not really knowing any more detail about your situation.
Now, you said, "sometimes when we were with other people, she shys away from me and doesnt pay any attention to me" - so, is this an issue with her, or an issue with you? Is she clamming up because she's intimidated by the other people that are around? Could it just be that she's shy? Or could it be that she will talk to the other people that are around, and you're perceiving this as her not paying enough attention to you? Again, I can only offer vague speculation because I'm not there to see how you interact...
...but all that said, you need to sit down and think about what friendship and trust really mean, and think if this is something really worth worrying about.

lately this weekend i feel depressed and sick! i don't know what to do! what should i do? (link)
|
Are you sick because you're depressed, or depressed because you're sick?
Being sick sucks either way, so I feel your pain (my sinuses hate me). When stuck at home sick, I either try to find a book I like, a movie I like, or play horrible computer games... if well enough, I'll play guitar or something along those lines. And rest. Resting is the most inportant thing to do when you're sick. Don't push yourself, because that can only help to make you even more sick. Not worth it.
Hope you feel better soon!

My msn wont let me sign on. I've tried re-connecting to the interent and restarting the computer. Is anyone else having this problem? Earlier it wouldn't let me talk to people either. I would say something and then no one would recieve the message even though I was online and it wouldn't let people send me messages. (link)

Fern and I were trying to use IM last night, and it was indeed all screwed up.
MSN has gone down for day at a time in the past, so really, this is right up their alley as far as track record goes.
Hopefully they'll fix their servers soon.

okay i've had glasses for about..10/11 years and im 13 so yeah i've basically had glasses my whole entire life and im sick of it the problem is i have some thing called well idk wut its called lazy eye i believe. Yes, thats it. Anyways when i was about 4 i got surgery because my eye had slid vertically and horizontilly and now its only horizontilly and i called my eye doctor to get an app. today and they gave me an app. for January 10th @ 9:45am and i know i have to get surgery which i'm really glad and then i can get contacts which after i get contacts i'll be soo happy... lots of people think i'm pretty and i guess i am and if i get contacts with make-up and all they say i'll look prettier but most people are going to think im just gettin contacts to look prettier not everyone knows abut my disease and suggestions? or does any have a lazy eye? cuz i've always felt like im the only one (link)
|
I know many people with a lazy eye. Many of them did not have it severe enough to require surgery. It really isn't a big deal, in my opinion... sure, this one guy I know makes it hard to tell if he's talking to you because his other eye is drifting about looking somewhere else... but you get used to it.
Contacts are not inherently prettier than glasses. I know some people who look damned good in glasses. However, I can understand your desire to get contacts after having worn glasses for so long. Change can be a good thing. Just don't do it thinking that it makes you "look better".

For as long as I can remember, my currently 19 year-old sister, isn't having the best life right now. I'll refer to her as Lexi In 2003 Lexi dropped out of her senior year in high school about 4 months before graduation. She claims it was because she hated that school, and hated everyone in it. I mean, she's not really the preppy, Barbie Girl type. She did get her G.E.D. after dropping out of high school, though. She went to the 2nd semester of college. Our whole family was overjoyed and really thought that Lexi could make something of herself, finally. I mean, she is really, really smart and an extremely good drawer.
But then she ended up skipping her classes to sleep in, and the night before college finals in spring, she drunk so much alcohol that she passed out and was under severe conditions and had to be hospitalized. She didn't even call our parents, because she knew that she'd be in trouble for underage drinking at that tim (age 18) and she had missed finals. She went to court and pleaded guilty, and was fined. But our family left that in the past and forgave her.
Lexi's back home now, and I pray every night that she goes back to college, or at least gets a job. She always promises our mom to get a job and never does, claiming that "nothing motivates her to do anything." Usually she appears in a pretty good mood, but once every month my parents and her will have a nasty fight. I'm not saying physically. These fights involve swearing, screaming, yelling, shouting, and insulting. Then the next day it's almost as if nothing happened, but my parents and Lexi won't talk to each other. My mother cries her eyes out, and I can't blame her, because she went through several hours of pain and labor to bring Lexi into the world, wanting , and my sister does nothing but smoke and swear at her. She and my parents eventually make up, and then it will be another fight.
Lexi is in financial trouble too (I'm not saying what), and won't return tax collectors' calls. She is too lazy to get a job, all she does is eat, sleep, and smoke, and go out with friends. I really want Lexi to get a job and stop smoking. I really want her to have a better life and go back to college. I really want my parents and her to not fight. I can't control any of this, because she is 6 years older than me (I'm 13) and I can't tell her what to think. Lexi refuses to go to a counselor, and no one can change her mind. Sometimes I even cry myself to sleep because I'm only 13 and I'm already going through emotional pain. I really need help, and I would appreciate anyone's sincere input on this. (link)

I am sorry that you are thrown into the middle of a situation like this. It is a burden that you should not have to deal with. Your sister's issues are not ones that you can fix, nor should you feel obligated to do so. If anything, use her as an example of what not to do in life.
It sounds like your sister needs a kick in the head - councelling or even medicated if she is clinically depressed (which is possible given what you've described). I know you said she won't go, but it might be a matter of it being forced upon her. She needs to learn to be responsible, as she clearly is not in any form or manner. Perhaps group sessions with her and your parents would be helpful? Either way, that also costs more money.
As far as your age difference and not being able to tell your sister what you think - I think you should rethink that... (lots of thinking there ;) )
Don't be afraid to tell your sister what you feel, what you think. If you think she's a pathetic waste of a person and that you can no longer look up to her, etc etc etc - then do so. Maybe criticism coming from her little sister would sink into her thick skull... maybe you really do have more influence than you give yourself credit for. It can't hurt, in a sense... sure, your sister could get all pissed off and swear at you, but you already know she has issues regarding that, and if you prepare yourself for her to be rude like that, then you should be able to confront her. Or if you want to do it, see if your parents won't back you up.
But no matter what, you've now seen what horrible decisions can lead to, and you can learn from your sister - not by example, but by now knowing how NOT to live your life.
No matter what, good luck, and I hope things work out for you, if not also for your sister.

can a 18 year old get in trouble for dating a 13 year old? (link)
|
define "trouble"...
yes, they can legally date each other. No, they cannot have sex, unless the minor's parents consent to it, and even then it is ill-advisable (instead of nailing the 18 year old for statutory rape, then can charge them with corruption of a minor).
Generally, I think most parents would be unhappy to find out their 13 year old is dating an 18 year old, regardless of the gender of the younger person involved.

hmm first of all what does an antacid do ? i kno that it neutralize acids in your stomach but like how does it make u feel and how do u kno u should take it?
and has anyone else ever taken milk of magnesia because personally i think it tastes like cement and i have to plug my nose and it still makes me gag (link)
|
An antacid is, chemically speaking, a base. It neutralizes the excess acids in your GI tract. They work on very simple principals. Some of these can make you a little gassy, but often have a small amount of simethicone in them to keep that form occurring. Chewable TUMS aren't bad - a little chalky, but they at least have some fruity flavor to them.
Heartburn medications like Pepcid and the like are different. They act by keeping the stomach from producing as much acid. These are "real" drugs, as opposed to antacids.
