breasts again

Question Posted Monday October 11 2004, 5:46 pm

Okay I asked the question about being 13/f and my breasts hurting size 38c. Well today i was noticing that my right breast kinda feels like it has lumps in it. I think I might have breast cancer. But I am confused. If I do I don't know how to ask my mom to take me to the doctor to find out or even tell her that I think I do.

definately tell your mom, she should understand even if it is a little embarrassing...but is embarrassment really worth the risk? just tell her you need to go to the doctor and explain why...good luck:-)

Everybody has lumps in thier breasts whether they have cancer or not it's just apart of the boob thing, I wouldn't worrry about it. But still talk to your mom, and just get a check up, you should be going in for annual check ups anyway. I wouldn't worry though. Good luck!

DEFINATELY ASK HER! That's a big deal hun, just bring up the fact that they are hurting& then she should take it from there. It's possible they are just growing, though! Trust me I know ALL about this..but just to make sure talk to your mom for sure. Hopefully everything's okay! Goodluck!

koshii answered Wednesday October 13 2004, 9:22 pm:
At 13 it is highly unlikely that you have cancer--more likely you are feeling the glands that would later produce milk. When you are pubertizing (that's not a word...) the glands are overly active, growing, and often are hard as if they are lumpy.
This is often a genetic condition--called fibroid glands. If they're all over, or if they feel bigger or tender during ovulation (2 weeks after your period), that is a huge sign that it's fibroid glands.
They are not dangerous and are a natural condition. The glands get filled with fluid, for pretty much no reason. In fact it's pretty common. Keep an eye and a hand on it, and if it changes over the month, that's pretty much your answer.

You need to get it checked out. If they do not catch it early you may need multiple surgeries to get all of the tumor out, or it may become inopprable if it grows to much. But remember not ALL tumors are cancerous i have a noncancerous one on my right eye. Good luck.

Hey, well its really important to check if you have breast cancer, if you kinda feel like you do, and dont be scared/embarassed because she's a girl too and she will understand, and im 13/f and im a 32D, so maybe there's not nething wrong, but check just in case! ((good luck))

I think you should tell your mom about this, even though this lump could be just from growth developement. Don't put this to the side. If it is a sign of breast cancer, the doctors will take it out just for a precaution, just in case if this lump will cause any problems in the future. Hope I helped and good luck with everything sweetie :)

Well, Make sure your right. Try doing a self-breast exam. Here is how to do one:
(copy and paste URL into another browser)

If it still comes up positive, talk to your mom about it. Say " i think i need to go to the doctor." Calmly explain that you feel lumps on your breasts and that you did the self test.
I hope everything works out well.

First off, do not ask us to NOT delete things... we're not stupid.

Secondly - just tell your mom that you think you need to see a doctor. If she asks why, just flat out tell her that you are concerned about your breasts. You need to be able to talk to your mom about these things... for all you know, perhaps she has had similar issues in the past, or knows that breast cancer runs in the family, or knows of other breast issues the women of your family have. Getting the low-down on your family medical history if very VERY important. Please, just talk to your mom. Yes, it may be a bit awkward, but your better off just flat out asking her.

Thanks for the highly insightful "MY MOM WAS ADOPTED" comment... you see, how the hell would I know that? Either way, you still don't know what your mom has been through... AND BREAST CANCER IN YOUR DAD'S FAMILY WOULD STILL BE A FACTOR! Remeber, half of your genes came from your dad.
