I came onto this site a few weeks ago asking a question about becoming a model and how you have to look.


But, what is beautiful? Someone on this site told me "If your not beautiful, then don't bother"

But what are the criteria for being beautiful?

The media seems to protray beauty as

Very skinny
Tall (at least 5ft 7in)
High Cheek bones
big lips
Small defined Nose
Long eye lashes
Nice skin (Even toned acne free)
Bright eyes
Full thick hair

THE STORY: Tom and Margaret were sitting in a diner. Tom noticed that Margaret was wearing an oversized coat:

300 body in a size 306 sweater. I am just throwing out numbers"

However, the next day when Tom saw Margaret he handed her a note that he had written: Margaret is not extra, extra, large, Margaret is not extra large, Margaret is not large, Margaret is not medium, and has never been medium. Margaret is small and has always been small. Margaret I THINK you ARE a size 5 and if size 5 would be considered a large size than I think you ARE a size 1.;

Margaret told her friends about the sweater incident in the diner and showed them the note Tom gave to her and her friends said to her that: (1) in the diner all Tom was doing is trying to show that the sweater is bigger than the body; and he does not think she is higher than a size 5; MY QUESTION: DO YOU AGREE WITH MARGARETS FRIENDS

I’m 14 and I’m really pissed because I have next to no decent clothes. I’m not exactly wealthy, but my family’s *far* from being poor. Okay, I have about 8 blouses that I’ve collected through the years, two skirts and two pairs of jeans that fit, and that’s it. My mom grew up in a really poor part of Asia and immigrated here about 15 years ago, but even still, she has no idea what teenage girls are like. I asked her to let me get a nice pair of shorts from American Eagle (which was $40) and she got really mad and gave me this lecture about how I should be thankful that I have any clothes at all because when she grew up, she only had, like, two pairs of cotton pants throughout most of her childhood, and how she breaks her back trying to support our family and I’m just being a greedy spoiled brat. She refuses to buy me any article of clothing over $30. What makes me even more mad is that she still buys $50 worth of earrings for herself (she gets loads of really cheap jewelry on those TV jewelry channels) when she doesn’t NEED any new jewelry, yet she won’t let me buy a $40 pair of shorts.

The worst part about all this is the other kids at school. I go to one of those expensive private schools and all of the other girls at my school who have entire wardrobes filled with those fancy designer clothes from stores like Abercrombie, Hollister, American Eagle, etc. I feel really ashamed next to everyone else because I don’t have many nice clothes at all. While all of these girls make monthly shopping sprees, I’m allowed two shopping trips a year. But even during these shopping trips, I can hardly find anything under $30 because nothing ever fits. Seriously, I’m way too skinny….my waistline is like, 22 inches and my hips are 27 inches. No, I’m not anorexic, it’s just the way I am. I don’t need any eating advice or anything, because there’s no way I’m going to diet and put on weight just to wear clothes. My pants size is 00 and my shirt size is XXS, and the only stores that carry anything flattering for really skinny people in those sizes are the expensive places, like Abercrombie. I would’ve ordered things online, but my mom doesn’t believe in shopping online-----she’s afraid someone will steal her credit card number.

I know this question might make me seem whiny and ungrateful and vain and spoiled because there are people dying in Darfur and I’m concerned about a pair of shorts, but still, it really makes me feel bad that I’m the only person in
What should I do about this? I tried talking to my dad, but he won’t make her understand. She’s got a one-track mind.










Try to go shopping with ur dad, he seems to be more understanding than ur mom.

does it work? or is it bad for your hair?

Im actually not sure if it would work or not but i would imagine that it would make your hair stink... just keep that in mind.

I wasn't really sure what to put this under, bu there is a dance this coming friday and I don't have anyone to go with and I''m not sure whether I should go or not. My friends are going just with friends, but I don't really look good in a dress and can't stand wearing high heels. It sounds like fun, but I don't want to look awkward in front of everyone. Plus I don't have a dress or shoes. What should I do?

you dont have to wear a dress... you can wear dress pants and a dressy shirt, or you can borrow dress and shoes from a friend. You should definitely go. Don't miss out because you dont have anything to wear. You will probably regret it later.

I have come to the point where I cant write, concentrate, derive pleasure from anything, have difficulty remembering things, have blurred vision, eyes seriously hurt, sometimes have severe headaches, most of the time dont know what I am talking especially with my elder brother. I have nt got father and mother I live my elder brother and his wife since 6 years. I am 26/M an MBA had a successful career but now since six months things have been deteriorating. I cant bear it any more. Plz tell me the easiest way to commit suicide which hurts less and is quick and doesnt make much of a mess.

hey im from pakistan too... you didn't say why you wanted to commit suicide? What is making you feel this way? I know it can be difficult growing up in a pakistani community, especially if you are living in pakistan. But that doesn't mean you should end you life. You have a lot going for you... you have an mba degree and a successfull career right? There are so many people in pakistan that can't even afford to get an education. You very lucky that you were able to do so. I have cousins in pakistan that are struggling because they cant find jobs. Why dont you try to talk to someone about your problems. Someone that you can trust that has no emotional influence in your situation. And you can always leave questions in my inbox, i would love to help you out. I hope everything works out for you. I have really dry hair from dying it and blow drying it every morning. I was wondering if anyone could recommend an affordable shampoo & conditioner (deep conditioner, preferably) that'll help restore my hair AND that'll keep it from fading? (I have platinum blonde hair and currently use Blonde Expressions by Pantene Pro V). Also, I'd like to know a product I can put in my hair after I shower, BEFORE I blow dry my hair that'll make it soft and smooth? Thank you!

Only use salon shampoos, pantene is not going to work on colored and damaged hair. Try sleek look by matrix.

Ohk , i have Verizon but right now I'm not very pleased on their phone selection. I really like a few phones from other carriers. Is it possible to buy a phone at face value from another carrier and use it on Verizon? Is it limited to only a few carriers? I'm sorry , but i REALLY need to know. Thanks in advance!!

Yes i believe you can purchase unlocked phones, and use them with almost any carrier. i would call verizon and double check.

Our class is getting ready for a spring trip to New York and today we picked the people we are rooming with. This girl I know, we'll call her Lucy, is one of the people I am rooming with. I used to be really close with her, but then we stopped talking. We starting hanging out again just this year. We signed up to room together with another one of my friends. Later, I find out that Lucy said I was annoying and she doesn't want to room with me because I'm "annoying," even though she has been acting like my friend the entire year. I think she's being very immature and two-faced. I want to confront her about this, but I don't want to get carried away and become immature myself. How can I talk to her about this rationally? Would it be reasonable to just blow her off and room with someone else and leave her all alone?

yeah either blow her off and room with someone else, or if you end up having to room with her... act like you don't care. Spend all of your time with other friends and ignore her.

i used to have pretty clear skin..the only zits i would get were around my nose in the "t-zone" but now theres scars on my cheeks..and even zits there too..basically all over..their not huge and hideous but they are visible..and i was wondering if anyone knew the BEST thing to clear skin..something not too expensive..just any kind of method it doesnt have to be a product..by the way my skins combination/oily but mostly oily and i wear liquid makeup because it covers best

Drink lots of water... wash your face daily. Try to see a dermatologist... they can prescribe something that probably wouldn't be too expensive.

well i am having a party in june probably, and it is for 14th b-day. it will be at my house, and im allowed to invite girls and guys. what are some fun party ideas? i dont want anything cheesy, but still fun. i have a pool but i dont know if it will be ready in time, and i have volleyball net.....so is there anything else we can do to have fun?

Hire a DJ, if your in the dc/metropolitan area, I know someone that would be available. If your in the tristate area and willing or anywhere in the east coast, i can find you one that might be willing to drive up or down there, but would charge you extra. :)

Ok so right now i have REALLY slow dial up internet connection on my computer. and the email that i use is Outlook Express...

haha i actually work for comcast... yeah comcast supports outlook express. So they would help you setup your outlook express so that you can use it with your comcast email address. :)

anyone please this is not that long and i really need help. Sometimes my parents can be complete IDIOTS. im not allowed to go skiing because My dad SAYS that im going to get hurt. I cant do an article for school on RAPE because my mom doesnt like it and now i have to stay up to research another one AND memorize it. (btw im 13/f) These stupid choices of my parents are making me depressed and i even cut myslef because of it. I cant have a boyfriend untill im 17, i cant wear a tampon yet, MY MOM DOESNT ACCEPT THAT IM GROWING UP. IVE TREID TALKING TO HER ABOUT THIS BUT SHE WILL NOT LISTEN. Seriously, My dads decision about skiing. I mean COME ON. IM GONNA GET HURT WTF. i know my parents care about me but they need to let go! They will NOT listen to me when i tell them all this. I cry all the time and i dont know what to do. Sometimes my life is perfect and sometimes i want to die. What i really want to ask you guys is what can i do now? Ive talked to them, that doesnt work. I know a note wont work and they WOUDL NOT go to a counseller or anything. I honestly feel that if i sucide myslef, they might learn something. (Also, im indian if that helps). well at least your mom is going to let you have a boyfriend when your 17. Most indian parents dont let their daughters have boyfriends period. I went through the same thing. You have to give them some time. Show them that you are responsible, and they will let go. Your only 13... things will seem really hard right now... but trust me it get's better. :)

Edit= Well i'm pakistani muslim... so technically i was never allowed to have a bf. When i was 13 my mom used to tell me that i could choose who i marry when i am mature enought to make my own decisions... (which meant when i was like 20 or something) However i met a really nice guy when i was 16, and i am still with him! She ended up accepting him, she really likes him. I did have BF's prior to him which she DID NOT approve of. She was very angry towards me at that point in my life.

So, I'm attempting at writing a book, and I was wondering opinions on this subject..

I have three main characters, and this story is supposed to be a romantic drama kind of thing. I'd like one of the characters to be the one to tell the story, but she ends up dying towards the middle. I was thinking I could switch around with point of views, either that, or switch once the girl dies.. but I'm not sure.
I don't like telling from the author's point of view, but I know it gives more chance to describe more...


Any help is appreciated on when you think I should do. =)

okay so i have this friend...well i think shes still my friend but anyways,she has a boyfriend and i had put a comment about him on his myspace pic saying "damn you look good, i would hit that anyday" before they were going out and i was just playing around. and now they are going out and my friend saw it and she was really mad at me because she gets jelouse real easy. she asked me if i liked him and i told her "ya hes cute but im not in love with him or anything"...and she just blew it off then she started acting wierd like started staring at me real hard and just madd dogging me at times. when i ask her "are you mad at me" she says no but im just not sure anymore, we dont talk like we used to anymore and she probly thinks im trying to steal her man...but im not i swear!!!
